Rheinhotel Dreesen in Bonn

The hotel has a beautiful location on the Rhine. The staircase alone, with its pictures from bygone times, is worth seeing. We had a room with a side view of the Rhine and a small balcony. The view of the Rhine was truly beautiful, but also a view of the beer garden with its unsightly steel girders. Our room was large and quiet. Parking is available nearby free of charge. Our package included underground parking and breakfast. Breakfast is adequate, and we liked the option of vending machine and filter coffee. The service staff were friendly and helpful; there's really nothing to complain about. Although there is an elevator, some rooms are only accessible via additional stairs. What really bothered us during our three days: The toilet in the bathroom was hanging completely crooked. There is no shower, the bathtub with its glass partition is very high and has no grab bars, and getting in and out of the shower is a slippery obstacle.

The hotel was very good and offered good food, but there should be more activities for children. The only thing a child could do there was run or explore the hotel.

Book a room with a Rhine view! A sunrise over the Petersberg is worth it. The sunny breakfast room, also with a Rhine view, has a Adenauer atmosphere and competent service. The reception was also staffed with friendly staff during the day. Perhaps it's also worth mentioning that it's certainly not easy these days to find guests who meet the standards of a traditional hotel... I certainly enjoyed my stay!

Unfortunately, this hotel is seriously showing its age. The elevator is broken, and we had to walk up to the third floor in over 30-degree heat. The steps are very worn. The breakfast buffet is okay. The coffee from the coffee machine is very bitter, and the cocoa isn't sweet either. The coffee, which can also be served in a pot, is strong and robust, so it's good. The women's restrooms downstairs (ground floor and downstairs) aren't lit. Very dangerous!!! The location and view are excellent. Unfortunately, the beer garden is only a snack bar, which even the beautiful location can't make up for. We will definitely not be coming back.

We attended the graduation ceremony for the painters' apprentices in the (small) concert hall. The staff was extremely accommodating and very friendly, and the snacks offered, including delicacies like smoked salmon, roast beef, and many other varieties of canapés, salads, and games, were truly delicious. I'm deducting one star because the ceiling in the hall is clearly showing its age.

The rooms with balconies facing the Rhine are especially amazing. Sitting on the balcony, looking out at the water, watching the ships, and enjoying the sun with a view of the Siebengebirge mountains is pure vacation and relaxation. Great interior design, especially the staircase.

The hotel has a special charm, even if it looks "old" in some places and in need of renovation. It's difficult to strike a balance between new and old in such an old and venerable building. The room was very modernly renovated, and the bathroom was top-notch. The price-performance ratio is good, even if the drink prices in the lounge are really too high, considering there's no bar. Other areas are fine. We were satisfied and felt comfortable. The staff is friendly and attentive. What's really annoying and completely inappropriate, however, in the breakfast restaurant and the outdoor dining area, is the presumably royalty-free free jazz music, which really drives you away.

We spent a wonderful few days in Rüngsdorf. The Dreesen is always worth a visit, and we really like it here. In addition to the absolutely beautiful location on the banks of the Rhine, the beer garden is also always inviting. The breakfast buffet is also worth mentioning. Simply fantastic all around. Wundervoller Biergarten mit Blick auf den Rhein, viele alte Bäume, die Schatten spenden, leckeres Essen! Obwohl es sehr heiß war und sich viele Gäste im Hotel befanden, war das Personal extrem nett und in jeder Beziehung hilfreich! In unserem Zimmer und denen unserer Freunde befand sich ein Exemplar des Bestsellers „Das weiße Haus am Rhein“, was wir irgendwie nett fanden, denn so kann man die Geschichte des Hotels noch einmal nachlesen. Der Frühstücksraum war richtig toll, weil man durch große geöffnete Fenster den Rhein und die Schiffe beobachten konnte. Das Frühstück war im Preis inbegriffen und absolut toll. Das Hotel hat einen riesigen wundervollen Biergarten mit Blick auf den Rhein mit extrem alten Bäumen, die Schatten spenden — dort war es definitiv nicht zu heiß (Er war sehr gut besucht, aber trotzdem war die Wartezeit nicht lang.).

We stayed at the Hotel Dreesen with three couples from June 19-22. I can't understand why our overnight stays, some of which cost more than €300 per night, plus €50 for breakfast! Free parking is often advertised here, but we can't agree. There are no-parking signs at the entrance, and the friendly lady at the reception recommended the underground parking garage (for a fee). We were all appalled by the poorly and cheaply renovated Ikea-style rooms, the bathrooms without windows, dark, without a light above the mirror, and no magnifying mirror with a light. And all without air conditioning! Even the balcony with a view of the Rhine couldn't neutralize the overall impression! Unfortunately, the breakfast was also only mediocre. The staff asked us to get our coffee from the vending machine because it tasted better. Our conclusion...: once and never again to this worn-out and seriously outdated hotel.

A nice hotel in itself, albeit a bit dated. Our brunch reservation was forgotten, but a spontaneously set table was quickly found. Unfortunately, it was next to a large group, which we found very inconvenient. When we asked if we had made a reservation so "late" (the day before), we were met with an incredulous look. I'm used to better things from this hotel, but this time I felt like a second-class guest.

A wonderful hotel in a beautiful location on the Rhine. Exceptionally good, personalized service. A fabulous breakfast with many local products from North Rhine-Westphalia. A very large selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, including gluten-free options. The single room isn't particularly large but very cozy with high ceilings. We were there as part of a large group, and we were very well looked after. A huge thank you!

A dream wedding venue with perfect service We celebrated our wedding on June 20th at the Rheinhotel Dreesen – and it was simply perfect! From the very first minute, we felt completely at ease and welcome. The director greeted us personally and even gave us a small gift, which made us very happy and marked a very special start to the evening. The entire celebration was excellently organized. Every wish was fulfilled, and the service staff was consistently attentive and friendly – ​​no one ever had to wait for a drink. The buffet was excellent, fresh, and regularly replenished. Our expectations were met exactly – even a special request for dessert was fulfilled. Our guests were thrilled: The stylish atmosphere, the historic charm of the hotel, and the breathtaking view of the Rhine and the Siebengebirge mountains impressed many. Some guests could hardly tear themselves away from the panorama! The overnight stay was also an experience in itself – our room was tastefully decorated and appropriate for the occasion. The next morning, we were able to enjoy breakfast again with a view of the Rhine – a perfect end to an unforgettable day. At checkout, we received personal congratulations from the entire team, which wonderfully rounded off the overall impression of the warm service. We are overjoyed with our choice and would recommend the Rheinhotel Dreesen again for a special celebration. Many thanks to the entire team for this wonderful day!

Location is the only thing this place offers. We planned a big group dinner the food is mediocre, the service is absolutely poor. No ventilator or Fan on 33 degree day, Not a place to visit or plan any big event.

I can't comment on the rooms, as I only attended one conference. The room inside has a fantastic view, and the hotel is in a great location. The beer garden is average. As always, the service depends on who's there.

I only had coffee and cake there. Service was OK. Price/performance OK. The cobwebs on the windows could be removed from the outside.

€9 for a very, very small and unfortunately dry bratwurst with a mediocre potato salad. €5.50 for a non-alcoholic beer. €11 for a farmer's salad with cheap feta and a lot of acidity. (There was also a stray piece of bologna in there, good thing I'm not a vegetarian.) Conclusion: the quality has declined massively compared to last year, but the prices have risen considerably. Hopefully, things will improve soon.

So far I can only say something about the beer garden and it's fun. There is something special about this location. An exorbitant view when you stop here. It has its price, but still affordable. I just like it and have recommended it to friends several times.

The amazing location, right on the Rhine with a view of the PetersBerg. Simply fantastic. Excellent service, perfect food, an experience to absolutely recommend, I ate the asparagus with the Dutch Sauce, creamy and tasty together with steak cooked to perfection. And also to recommend the beer garden. This one on the Rhine is also kissed by the sun, you can enjoy the aperitif.

We stayed there for two nights and were thrilled. The staff is extremely friendly, the rooms are clean and the breakfast is sufficient. What should be positively highlighted is the brilliant location directly on the Rhine and the beautiful beer garden. We will come again.

Celebrating 130 years and I hope it sits alongside the Rhein for another century! A classic Rhein hotel full of charm. A balcony room is a must. Perfect location for jogging the river and excursions. The hotel has a rich and complicated history. One feels as if you are floating along in a giant river boat at night. The Biergarten is fabulous spot in the summer sun. The entire area is also full of walkable treats. Luxurious breakfast and dining options in the restaurant. Staff is attentive and kind.

A somewhat outdated hotel that could use more than just a new coat of paint. The staff was extremely friendly, there is nothing to criticize. We were very disappointed with the breakfast for the price of €25. It wasn't really refilled, we were left with empty plates. The rolls were quite dry and the so-called bread selection was not available. What we particularly liked, however, was the location and the spectacular view of the Rhine. Conclusion: Price-performance ratio doesn't really match.

Beer garden is in a nice location, but the food is bad and overpriced. The pulled pork sandwich for 14.50 euros! consists of a sticky cheap bun, the meat was only partially warmed, dry and seasoned with a little ketchup. The fries that came with it cost another 5.50 euros. I can only advise against it. The hotel looks run down from the outside.

Didn't live up to expectations; Before we were even allowed to touch the room key, the money was already collected - and a tip was electronically "expected". A bit too early, isn't it? Breakfast - great class. View from the balcony - great. Bathroom newly renovated - but why was the window forgotten? Ancient, chipped, cracked paint - and the house is EXTREMELY noisy! If THE house is invested sensibly again, it can return to its former glory!!

This hotel is located in a quiet area by the river, just a 20-minute drive from the city center of Bonn. The beautiful architecture, both inside and outside, creates an elegant atmosphere perfect for a refined getaway. The staff is polite and attentive, and the guests are cultured and respectful. However, during party nights, it can get noisy until midnight. There are usually plenty of free parking spaces available near the hotel, unless an event is taking place. For convenience, there is also a paid underground parking option—€1.80 per hour or €19 for the whole day. The breakfast experience was exceptionally delightful! A wide selection of cheeses and cold cuts, various healthy drinks, and the music playlist was curated with great taste—I was pleasantly surprised to hear my favorite Debussy pieces. Enjoying the view of the river with slowly passing barges added to the charm. A supermarket is just a 5-minute drive away. Complimentary lemon-infused water and apples were always available. The only downside was my single room, which had an unfortunate view of the hotel's wall. That said, the room itself was clean and well-maintained. I also appreciated that the hotel is pet-friendly. Unfortunately, little glamor and glory! Bad service, waiting forever for food, inattentive service! Carpeting everywhere in dire need of renovation, overall everything is getting old. Only the ladies at the reception were very nice. Breakfast isn't worth 25 euros, especially if it doesn't get refilled for ages! All tea strainers still have leftovers!

Unfortunately, there was no waiter on site. The receptionist was very friendly and allowed me to tour the historic hotel. It's a very beautiful chestnut garden. I'm already looking forward to it opening and would love to come back 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

Traditional, stately, well-kept hotel directly on the Rhine with a view of the Siebengebirge. The restaurant is very popular and is also suitable for private celebrations. The brunch buffet is delicious and very rich. In the beer garden you can sit at beer tables above the Rhine pronade - some under wonderful old chestnut trees - or in comfortable seating groups on the lawn (also in the shade). I was recently a guest at the Rheinhotel Dreesen. It's a traditional hotel, with plenty of flair and the pleasant charm of the early Federal Republic and the time before that. I received a very friendly welcome at the reception. Unfortunately, the room isn't wheelchair accessible. So, I had to climb a few steps from the elevator to get to the room. It was bright and welcoming, and everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. Unfortunately, the shower is located inside the bathtub, and I had trouble getting in and out with my injured knee. My wife would have also appreciated a makeup mirror. I would particularly like to emphasize the quality and extent of the breakfast buffet. I found it very pleasant that the coffee was served and didn't have to be poured from a vending machine. A particular highlight in the morning was the view from the window of the sunrise over the Drachenfels mountain opposite. In short, despite the minor limitations, I highly recommend the Rheinhotel Dreesen. The same applies to the in-house Gobelin restaurant, where you will be pampered with down-to-earth cuisine of the highest quality.

Located directly on the Rhine, opposite the Petersberg. Old, elegant hotel with a winter garden, beer garden, and restaurant. Wonderfully accessible by bike or on foot along the Rhine. We were there for the "tea dance" and had a wonderful three hours of fun. Parking is limited, but there is a parking garage for a fee. Since we didn't stay overnight, I can't provide any information about rooms.

We were here for my wife's birthday. Exceptionally friendly service. For breakfast, we had a decorated table and a small cake with a candle to finish off the day. A truly recommendable traditional establishment, directly on the Rhine.

Not perfect, with minor flaws, but with charm and a patina. The location is a definite plus. What was really annoying was the workshop smell in the elevator and the musty odor in the room.

Crime dinner on January 11, 2025 was not a highlight, This was accompanied by a lukewarm main course. In any case not recommended.

We enjoyed the Christmas brunch on the 1st holiday. The tables were very festively set, as were the rooms in which the brunch took place. There is a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the hall. The offer was very good. We would have liked to have had another table, but there was no flexibility.

Formerly great splendor, but now showing its age and with a major backlog of modernization. The plus is the location and the view and the super friendly, helpful staff, the rest is at best ok for the prices quoted. The same was true for breakfast, which unfortunately had no local connection. Instead, filter coffee was on the table without being asked. I had to specifically request the right cup for the espresso. No bar in the evening, no fitness room, and above all no charging facility for electric cars. A no go for us. Are only guests with combustion engines welcome? The courtyard of the “Courtyard Room” was more of a shaft, a really desolate view. Too bad. So much would be possible here.

A beautiful hotel with history and an absolutely breathtaking location and view. Me and my wife celebrated our wedding here. The service was impeccable, my wife and I were personally welcomed by Mr. Dreesen. The wedding location was absolutely gorgeous and there are different wedding rooms for every size of wedding party. The food was first class. Even the price-performance was surprisingly extremely good for such a high quality. Everything was adapted to our wishes. We are so happy that we were able to celebrate our special day here. Many thanks to the Dreesen family 🙏

Actually a great hotel with top employees who are really happy to help, but I was amazed at the difference in the rooms. Colleagues had beautiful rooms with balconies and views of the Rhine. Although we had booked the same room, other rooms only had a view of the interior of the building. There was also a salon a few meters from one room where guests stayed for long periods of time. Of course a great offer, but a bit annoying if you want to rest and often hear people in the hallway It's best to ask how the room is located before booking, then nothing will stand in the way of a lovely stay

Very average place. I don't know how they got 4 stars, but it's more of a 3 star hotel. The view from the room is a disaster, and when occupancy is low, giving a room with a view of the interior of the building is poor. There are different levels on the floors and stairs, so this is not a disabled hotel. The steps are pointless, so you have to constantly lift your suitcase. No sauna, jacuzzi or anything like that. A plus is that it was quiet, although you have to bear in mind that the door to the room is thin and you can hear a lot through it, so there is no complete privacy. At breakfast, I asked for scrambled eggs without cream, without milk, just plain scrambled eggs with onion, and I received an omelette. It was tasty, but I asked for something else. The music during breakfast was gentle and in the background, pleasant and that was a plus. Coffee only on the tables in the form of regular coffee and cream next to it, the coffee machine is turned off and therefore you can't drink cappuccino or latte, The biggest disappointment of the breakfast was the "fresh" fruit. It looks like they were in the fridge for more than a few hours. I like to start the day with a solid portion of fruit and scrambled eggs with fresh vegetables, but after a few bites I had to give up the fruit - it was spoiled. Overall, the impression is very average for a hotel, and for a four-star hotel it is poor.

After 30 years I was finally back at the Hotel Dreesen. Time has stood still and you are still warmly welcomed and spend the night in tastefully furnished rooms with a great view. You have a wonderful view from the armchairs View over the Rhine. The beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is very large and everything is very clean. Coffee machine, mineral water and nuts in the room. The breakfast was great (the coffee wasn't that tasty) and the service staff was very friendly. Hopefully see you soon.

We stayed at the Rheinhotel Dreesen from October 13th to October 16th, 2024. As a former resident of Rüngsdorf, it was my dream to go on vacation there, where I spent my childhood and youth. We felt very comfortable and everything was fantastic. We had a very nice room with a side view of the Rhine (No. 121). The breakfast had a great selection and there is really something for everyone. The location is simply fantastic for exploring the surrounding area. We didn't miss anything. I wish the hotel all the best for the future and would be happy if it remained family-run for a long time.

With 13 people for coffee and cake. The orders were taken from the head of the long table by the unfriendly and arrogant waitress. Only 3 cakes to choose from and not in enough numbers. “Served” was then also said from the headboard: “Please pass through”. Service like this is simply not possible in a 4-star restaurant. It is incomprehensible that there are so many complaints about the poor service and the cake, but that apart from the promise to “discuss this as a team”, nothing is improved. The hotel/restaurant draws on its history and location. For how much longer?

Situated on the banks of the Rhine, this traditional hotel comes equipped with all the amenities you'd expect from a 4-star establishment. I was fortunate to have a room that boasted a stunning view of the river, which made my stay even more enjoyable. Typically, I'm not one to dine in the restaurants of hotels I'm staying at, but I was pleasantly surprised by theirs. The menu was straightforward yet packed with delicious local dishes and wines. This hotel is an excellent choice for both business trips and family vacations.

The Rheinhotel Dreesen has been on our to-do list for a long time. Since we saw the two-parter on TV a few years ago, we knew at some point we would have to spend a few days on vacation there. Now it finally worked and we spent 5 wonderful days in this historic hotel. So there we were standing in front of this historic hotel and then entered the entrance area with the reception through a revolving door and you could already feel the charm of a grand hotel. After we checked in we were very excited about our room. As soon as we entered we knew we would feel comfortable here. Everything was as we expected, a very good bed with good mattresses and when we entered the bathroom we were very surprised. A really large bathroom, very modern and certainly not that old. After a relaxing night, we were of course excited about breakfast. You come into the very large dining room and are overwhelmed by the view of the Rhine. The breakfast buffet was simply fantastic, it really had everything you expected. A big compliment and of course a thank you goes to the hotel staff, starting with the reception, the courteous staff at breakfast and not forgetting the excellent staff who cleaned our room very well every day. All in all, our conclusion is that Hotel Dreesen is a place where you can relax and unwind. We would love to come back and I would give the hotel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if I could.

The hotel has a wonderful location with a very nice beer garden. There are enough parking spaces available. Unfortunately, the charm of this historic building was not revealed to us. The reception was friendly but cool. Our rooms (there were four of us and we had booked two double rooms) were cozy, renovated, clean and equipped with comfortable beds. Unfortunately, despite having made a reservation two weeks earlier, they were initially unable to offer us a table in the busy restaurant that evening. We were offered to sit next door in a large, cool, deserted, uncovered room. After we declined, a table was set up for us in the cozy restaurant in just a few minutes. Absolutely understaffed, the employees present there did what they could. The evening was okay, although we didn't think the price/performance ratio was right. The soup was bland, overall the portions could have been a little larger. One of our main courses fell on the carpet to the stressed waiter, and empty glasses stood around on the window sills and the buffet table for a long time. That wasn't very comfortable. The wine we ordered only came when asked. In our opinion, the map could be a little more extensive. There was little on offer, especially for vegetarians. The nightcap we ordered was gone. Of the four Scheibel products on the menu, only one was still on offer. An espresso was then added to the house. of the rather bumpy service. We would like to expressly emphasize that the staff available were very friendly and hard-working, but there were simply not enough staff on duty for this number of guests. However, the breakfast was excellent. Everything fresh and delicious, large selection, great view of the Rhine. Unfortunately, when we checked out it was hectic and not very professional. You can feel the stress of the employees. That's a shame. All in all, you can sleep well here and have a great breakfast. Unfortunately we cannot recommend the restaurant.

I was there again on business, the hotel is older, but the rooms have been modernized. Dinner was very good with a small selection. There is no bar including longer opening hours. The seating area as an alternative was ok. Breakfast buffet very good. Gladly again.

The rooms have modern furnishings, but the view from the window of a painted wall was disappointing. The lunch booked by the organizer was too tight.

Great hotel with serious charm. Older building that somehow exudes history. Great location and great view at breakfast.

Room 220 is an absolute disgrace. The room is around 10 m² in size and resembles a storage room. Renovated half-heartedly and half-finished, the carpet is around 30 years old and covered in stains, the rest is thin laminate. The shower is new but the tiles have not been renovated. Overall, the whole room is carelessly designed. With respect, the view of the “inner courtyard” has the charm of a prison. It's an absolute disgrace to even offer such a room! The trash can wasn't emptied when we first entered the room. At breakfast, the best tables are reserved with “Reserved” signs for the better guests. Other families with children had to move into the next room. But the tables remained unoccupied for 45 minutes. It's all a shame, because the hotel has a fantastic location, a lot of tradition and actually charm right on the Rhine. We won't be coming back!

Elegant hotel along the Rhine, within a neat restaurant and a 130-year-old ballroom. Outside a social terrace with regional dishes and drinks. A large number of the rooms have a view of the Rhine.

The view of the Rhine is wonderful. The people who work there are all very nice and helpful. Our room was big enough and clean. However, there was no air conditioning. Our dog was welcome throughout the house. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't keep what it promises. The food is average, but the price is top notch.

We went there often for brunch. Always satisfied. Last time a tablet with 6 glasses poured over me. The staff's handling of this was not necessarily professional. I had to walk around all day in pants that looked like I had wet them. Since I thought that could happen, we were there again today. As we were shown to the table by a lady I said this is not a nice table. The answer was, a round table is nice. The table was in close proximity to the buffet. This meant there was no peace at the table. Because guests and staff were constantly passing by. A table had probably been put there, although there would have been space elsewhere. For the price, I don't expect to sit at a walk-through table. In addition, the offer was very poor for the price of 53 euros. You should think very carefully about whether you go there for brunch. To the restaurant thank you very much ruined my birthday for the second time!! But it was definitely the last time I was with you. Regarding the hotel's response: They don't seem to know your restaurant. There were tables behind us and they were by the window. Our table wasn't by the window. Everyone who sat behind us, about 20 people, had to pass our table. Likewise your staff!
