Nice food, busy staff. The pizzas were made in a pizza oven but were not particularly Italian. The base lacked love, taste and crispiness. The cheese was boring and the same with the rest of the filling. Ok tuna salad bought. The tuna did not taste particularly fresh. The pizza was quite ok for the price.

The pizzas were okay. The service was friendly. The landlady was a very vocal person, which she used quite rudely and in a commanding tone with guests. We didn't feel comfortable.

We ate here while on vacation and received a super-warm welcome even at 9:40 p.m. – something you don't experience every day! Luckily, the kitchen was still open, and the food was simply amazing. Especially the tiramisu… it's a poem! The owner and his wife are incredibly friendly and personable – with a sense of humor and heart. We felt completely at home and would definitely come back!

We've now had a delicious meal here twice. The bruschetta to start with was amazing, and the spaghetti was also delicious. We'd love to come back.

I can only say again and again: great atmosphere, fair value for money, and the food is truly delicious. You should definitely reserve a table in advance, but that speaks for itself. So, there are a lot of people who feel comfortable here and enjoy their food. So if you're in Malente, definitely check this place out.

Terrible experience (And not a good one) Three women serve with the charm of Rosi from the allotment garden. One must have married Franco, who likes to sip a few glasses of wine behind the bar. The food is so below average and random, the bruscetta (white bread with spread and 3 halves of black cherry tomatoes) would be ashamed to be called Italian and the pizza dough is so salty that you would think it was salt dough. All in all, a lousy experience and not a recommendation for anyone who can defrost a pizza themselves. If the food in the Mühlenberg Clinic wasn't even worse, we wouldn't have even eaten it.

Food great Despite the restaurant being full, we didn't have to wait long for our drinks or food. Staff very friendly and organized. Not overly expensive and very tasty. However, you have to reserve a table.

Unfortunately, my visit to this restaurant was not entirely satisfactory. First of all, there was incorrect information about the pizza dough, which I thought was a shame - I would have appreciated an apology for that. Unfortunately, my second drink order was also forgotten. I found it particularly disappointing that I was charged for a full cola even though I only wanted a shot of cola in my wheat beer. I would have expected this to be considered a service and not billed as a full drink order. If I had actually received a 0.2l glass of cola, that would have been understandable to me. Another point of criticism is the very high noise level in the restaurant. It was hardly possible to have a conversation with my partner because it was just too loud. I hope that the team will see my comments as constructive criticism and will place more value on service, transparency and a more pleasant atmosphere in the future. This could make visiting a restaurant much more pleasant for guests. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the restaurant at the moment.

Despite reservations, we were given a walk-through table, which we really can't recommend. A table that had just become available was refused to us in a very rude manner, pointing out that we had a reservation. No customer friendliness, never again.

We had been promised a reservation, were held back and finally seated at an "emergency table" that was not designated for reservation, even though some tables were expected to become available. Then we left - probably forever. Simply rude and ignorant!

A culinary must-visit should be La Grotta! In addition to the really delicious Italian food and wine, you are also offered a rustic, cozy atmosphere and the service is simply warm! Big compliments to the on-site staff for making an evening there unforgettable.

The meal was completely spontaneous and despite rush hour we got a table for 6. The food was excellent and the price was right.

Went there twice...1x bad luck, as all the seats were occupied in the evening, 1x lucky at lunchtime, as most people had already eaten that day. Pizza Tonno and penne in herb cream sauce were delicious. Plus home-baked bread and herb butter. Also great👍✨ Danger: A reservation is better✨👍✨

Wir waren innerhalb von zwei Wochen zwei Mal dort essen. Beim zweiten Mal hatten wir vorab einen Tisch im hinteren Teil reserviert und mündlich bestätigt. Bei der Ankunft wurde uns aber ein anderer Tisch, nämlich im Teil zur Straße hin angewiesen. Auf unsere Bemerkung hin, wir hätten einen anderen Tisch bestätigt bekommen, wurden wir gleich von zwei Damen nicht direkt angeschrien aber doch heftigst darauf hingewiesen, dass obwohl der gewünschte Tisch nicht besetzt war, unser Tisch nunmal der angewiesene sei. Unsere Stimmung war dann schon etwas lau. Meine Frau bestellte Penne Calabrese und bekam Penne Carbonara. Das merkte die unhöfliche Bedienung zwar, nahm das Essen wieder mit, brachte nach einer Weile die Calabrese mit einem sehr kurzen Entschuldigung. Fazit: Auch wenn das Essen dort schmeckt -was es wirklich tut- man muss schon Spaß an Unhöflichkeit haben, um es dort zu genießen.

Ordered pizza with extra garlic, it came without it, with the service person's comment that we had ordered garlic oil at the table, I could take that, the person sitting next to me ordered the oil and not me... don't you have to understand?? but it still annoyed me... Pizza was delicious even without the requested garlic ;-)

Nice crispy pizzas to go. One tasted better than the other, but that's taste and preference. Sweet staff and cozy place.

What more could you want? Open kitchen, great ambience, great staff, mega boss and a great price-performance ratio. The La Grotta restaurant is located right near Malente train station. Reservations are essential on weekends. The food is first class, the drinks come to the table quickly. Everything seems a little rustic, but clean and original. You either like it or you don't. We always enjoyed it and all the dishes came to the table at the same time. We can only recommend the restaurant.

I've been coming here regularly for more than 50 years (my uncle opened the restaurant) - there's never been a problem here. The food is always top-notch, the wine is well-selected, the staff are polite, friendly and relaxed - even when things get a little hectic. The rooms are very pleasant with a lot of atmosphere. Of course I like to stay here as a guest and can only recommend the restaurant!

We were there with seven people. Table was reserved and we had a very tight time frame of 90 minutes. We were constantly reminded to hurry up when eating and drinking. Even paying couldn't be done at the table because the next guests were already at the door. You were always under stress. A nice, cozy dinner looks different.

A rustic and worn ambience greets you. This has nothing to do with Italian flair, which Malente's regular customers seem to accept graciously in the absence of any alternative. Even the request for drinks after a 20-minute stay could not prepare me for what followed... I quote the answer of the unprofessionally dressed and extremely loud and not very service-oriented employee to my request not to constantly touch my chair: "Next time we'll build Set up your table outside, then you'll have space!". That leaves me speechless. Ready-made dressing on the side salads, the frozen feel of the pizza and stringy meat rounded off the evening. Ordering dessert would have required more energy and courage than I could muster. I wish you all the best, but good things can happen differently...

Absolutely wonderful food, the service was courteous and quick with the food and drinks even though the store was sampled.

Vegans please give them a wide berth. My “vegan” rice pot suggested by the waiter was thickly gratinated with cheese. Pasta and pizza dough is with egg.

I would prefer to give minus stars. Extremely unfriendly service, disrespectful behavior and 0 hospitality. Except for one waiter who was really nice and attentive. I honestly wish he had a different job, because when the boss gets so rude and loud towards guests, then you can't imagine what happens behind the scenes.

I have to process the visit first. Rarely experienced such unfriendliness. Never again. The food wasn't worth mentioning either. Beer was ok, but you can't go wrong with it. A training course on the basics of hospitality in the catering industry would be recommended.

There was insalata mista, pasta frutti di mare plus drinks. There are no bonus stars for canned kidney beans and corn with ready-made sauce. The pasta was much better and really tasty. Very inconspicuous pizzaria from the outside, but you definitely have to visit it. The food is super tasty, value for money and the staff is very friendly. The waiter in particular is very attentive and friendly. You can sit quietly and comfortably in the small backyard as there are only a few tables. However, prior reservation is advisable. Even those who decide at short notice are looking for a solution.

A touch of Italy in the north! Temperamental, nice and honest boss, delicious food, nice atmosphere. We went there twice on vacation. Lots of people from Malen come there, everyone knows each other: no tourist trap! We will be back!

I arrived shortly before closing time and was not turned away. On top of that, the employees were very nice and there was also a very tasty vegetarian pizza, where no savings were made in terms of content. To recommend.

Very nice little cozy Italian restaurant with flair, in Bad Malente. Service was top notch and the food was really tasty too! Highly recommended if I want Italian food in the area.

You arrive around 5 p.m. with three people and just wanted to have a quick beer. In the shop you saw 2 people at the tables, one at the tap and a very bad-tempered and loud, I assume, boss: "The tables are all reserved, we have to come back later" she said very unfriendly. All in all, you won't see us there anymore. The pizza can't be that good to tolerate the boss!

We were there twice and regretted that we couldn't go back a third time because of the day off. The pizza Landkreis-Cuxhaven Grotta is a stunner, the Pentola dem Diaboli brings tears to your eyes, but is devilishly good!!!! The staff, simply warm and incredibly friendly. It's a shame that we don't have a comparable restaurant in Bremerhaven. Malente can be happy!

Great traditional Italian restaurant with the best pizza in the area! The salads and pasta are also unbeatable. Special requests or reorders are implemented reliably. The bread with herb butter is always a must! We eat there regularly, and the food is also wonderfully packaged to take away. The atmosphere is cozy, whether inside or outside. Great team !!!

I ordered a lasagna to take away. When we got home there was a big disappointment... The lasagne was definitely warmed up and unfortunately only lukewarm. I was more than disappointed with the portion for €10. I knew it differently from previous visits to the restaurant.

Nach guten Erfahrungen im Oktober 2023 waren wir enttäuscht. Der Thunfischsalat mit Tomaten bestand hauptsächlich aus Eisbergsalat und Thunfisch. Die selbstgemachte Panna Cotta wurde von schrecklich süßem Fertigsirup und 4 halben Weitrauben umrundet. Außerdem gab es nur Nachspeisen aus der Truhe. Sehr mager für ein italienisches Restaurant.

This Italian restaurant is worth a visit. Rather inconspicuous from the outside, the inside, especially in the back area, is rustic and cozy. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating without being intrusive. We once had a spicy rice pot. But this one is not that sharp. The mussels I had were also very tasty. Especially not sandy. We can highly recommend both dishes. We will definitely come back again.
