Incredibly nice service, recommended that we should sit on the quieter side of the restaurant without a construction site, thank you again for that 🙏 When we are back in Berlin we will definitely come back ♥️

Apparently it has been around since 1840. You have to be consistently good to last this long and they provided it again today. Good range of Germany style food and beers etc. I actually had a tee infusion which was spot on for the cold day. Place was lovely and warm with heated seats.

We spent a lovely evening here in the summer. The price-performance ratio was right and we were generally very satisfied. Considering it was relatively full that evening, the service was good and attentive. My currywurst could have used a few more minutes on the grill - otherwise everything was fine. :)

Excellent restaurant in Berlin! We received a very warm welcome, the service was great, and the food was excellent! Plus there was music all evening! In terms of atmosphere, it was very pleasant! We had a great time with this smiling and jovial waiter! We highly recommend!

Unfortunately, I can only describe my impressions from visiting the restaurant today. I had reserved a table for 12 people for December 22nd, 2024 and agreed specifically on how the table should be designed. It was my 70th birthday and fourth Advent. I arrived with my first guests, nothing was prepared, tables were quickly put together and that was it. After speaking to the waitress, I received the answer that he hadn't looked at the reservation book yet. Of course I was served. I was also happy with the waitress, you had the impression that he didn't know anything about the menu. There weren't many options for children. Overall it was a lovely day for me and my guests from Kiel and my family.

I made reservations well in advance for 16 people. Everyone was looking forward to it and tonight the cancellation came for no reason. After consultation, closed company with 140 people. The website says something like 300+ seats (certainly outside). I find it cheeky. Now we stand there as a group. You weren't even asked to understand. That's not how service works! Never again!

Absolutely lovely restaurant with reasonable prices, huge portions, and excellent customer service. I dined with friends and had a fantastic time, but the candlelit atmosphere makes it perfect for couples.

The restaurant has a great ambience, the service is great. The offer was very good. The food was good, but unfortunately not outstanding. I expected more.

Such a quaint restaurant, very cozy atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and really on the ball. The food came very quickly and was great too. Since the food for all six came together, which I generally think is great, my liver was unfortunately only lukewarm with the mashed potatoes. But very tasty 😋

The beer is delicious, the food is mediocre, there will be people in the toilet asking you for money, and the waiters will ask you for money if they have nothing to do except serve plates.

We went for dinner. We ordered chicken pasta with creamy mushroom sauce, steak and half chicken. All were delicious. And apple strudel was delicious. It was hot and The presentation was very nice. Service was good but a bit slow. Still faster than many restaurants. Reservations are a must. Prices are a bit high but when you consider the ambiance , it's normal. I also took pictures of the menu for current prices.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The food was inedible and the service was unfriendly and overwhelmed.

Un restaurante de gran aspecto incorporado en los arcos ferroviarios de la estación de Hackescher Markt Sbahn, el interior es soberbio , techos abovedados, ladrillos vistos, un llamativo bar de servicio domina la sala principal, decoración y mobiliario pubby y un montón de opciones de asientos repartidos por todo este restaurante, es un gran lugar para relajarse en . Mi hermano gemelo y yo estuvimos aquí en una noche de diciembre amargamente fría, ya habíamos comido así que solo estábamos aquí para cervezas, pedimos cervezas a Berliner Kindl Schultheiss Brauerei (cerveza Berliner Kindl ) y estas se sirvieron en excelentes condiciones siendo heladas frías y espumosas, nos relajamos, calentamos y empapamos el gran ambiente en este concurrido y popular restaurante mientras bebíamos nuestras cervezas. Mi cerveza era realmente buena , una cerveza estilo lager dorada, ligera y con lúpulo rebosante de sabor y muy fácil de beber sobre todo cuando se sirve helada fría como en este restaurante, no es de extrañar que este restaurante sea tan popular entre las cervezas servidas en esta buena condición. Ambos disfrutamos mucho de nuestras cervezas aquí antes de seguir adelante y aunque nuestra visita fue solo fugaz como en cualquier otra visita a aquí nos lo pasamos muy bien. Restauración 1840 es fácil de localizar a lo largo de Am Zwirngraben, una calle y zona repleta de pubs, bares, cafeterías y restaurantes y una arquitectura increíble. El horario de apertura es; De lunes a domingo, de 9:00 a medianoche. Vale la pena comprobar si estás cerca de Hackescher Markt.

Mooi en sfeervol jaren '20 restaurant. Inmiddels al 5 x geweest. Uitgebreide kaart met traditionele gerechten. Vriendelijke en enthousiaste bediening. Door de drukte kan het mogelijk iets langer duren, de inzet van het personeel maakt dit echter ruimschoots goed! Topervaring op een bijzondere locatie in Berlijn met onnederlandse prijzen....!

We were served by a very restless and hectic waiter who brought the lukewarm food. In addition to the rather cool temperature, the currywurst was very below average and the fries were very bad. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not recommended.

Agradable lugar para un par de copas. Vinimos aquí para salir del frío y la lluvia, simplemente porque era uno de los pocos lugares abiertos un domingo por la tarde ocupado en Berlín justo antes de Navidad. El lugar no estaba lleno, pero el camarero nos llevó a una mesa atascada entre las otras parejas presentes, que rechazamos cortésmente, y nos trasladamos a una mesa más espaciosa. Sin embargo, después de eso todo fue genial. Nos atendió un camarero educado y atento y nos alojamos para un par de bebidas. Fue una experiencia muy agradable y sin duda volveríamos a probar el menú en otro momento.

We were able to get a reservation for 10 people very easily on Open Table (same day). Service was fast and friendly and the food was awesome. It came out fast, huge portions, and reasonably priced.

19.12.2024 das Essen, Currywurst mit pommes Fritten Pommes waren versalzen, Riesenbockwurst war max.lauwarm und nach Kritik wurde sie wohl in der Mikrowelle heißer gemacht. Schmeckte trotzdem nicht. Die Goulaschsuppe könnte besser sein.das vierte Essen war auch nicht der Renner. Alles in allem, das Essen war den Preis von 63 Euro inkl. Getränke nicht wert. Empfehlenswert, nein es gibt bessere Restaurationen.

We made a reservation for 20 people and when arriving got told, the restaurant does not use Open table. Whilst even in the reviews some are via Open table? On a Thursday evening for 20 people in Berlin that is really outrageous so please someone check what is going on here.

If you feel like unfriendly staff who really ruin your mood, you've come to the right place. The charming greeting alone with a roll of the eyes, which could hardly have shown more of the subterranean motivation, was a good start. Only the loud groan of annoyance could top this. In order to extend our stay there, the food was delivered separately. First, one half of the table eats while the second half gets to watch. It also seems to be a peculiarity that the individual dishes are not delivered completely. It has to be said that this not only means that individual parts of the dish were brought to the table half an hour late, but that dips, for example, were also completely missing. In order to spread the bad mood even further on the guests, the additional orders for drinks were only brought after repeated requests. These were probably calculated twice. In order to keep the mystery alive, no invoice was handed out. Neither an apology nor even a friendly look are standard here. The missing tip is boldly pointed out and explicitly requested. One should not forget that saying goodbye with the words: “Please never come back” while complaining about us to the other guests rounded off the visit. A sincere compliment goes to the kitchen. Everyone enjoyed the food. If the service wasn't so exceptionally bad, the visit would be a delight to the taste buds!

Unfortunately it was a total failure, first we waited a long time for the cellar, then the gentleman only took half of the order, then a long wait Half an hour, the shop was empty. Whether he has forgotten us. A soup as a starter and two currywurst with fries. Then at some point everything came together. With the saying he didn't know that the soup was a starter... I always eat Soup together with main course. We let it go back and left hungry

The service is unfortunately very bad. The waiters are inexperienced, confused, and in a restaurant serving German food they speak little German. The food takes a long time to arrive, everything is very slow. The quality of the food also leaves much to be desired. Overall, it’s a nice place, you can order beer, but I don’t really recommend it. Apparently the location near the metro station and the large flow of people play a role... It's a pity...

Very nice restaurant and good food

Had two meals at this restaurant with my partner whilst in Berlin. One at a busy dinner time and the other during the quieter lunch hours and the resturant excelled on both occasions. A great atmosphere combined with stellar service and delicious food.

If you are looking for an easy option to eat typical German food, just go. The place and service are great, and the food is very tasty as well. Good wines and beers too!

Rude staff to say the least. They forced us to tip and started gesticulating and making figures in front of other people. The slightly dark waiter with short hair is rude and doesn't know how to do his job. I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST IT

We ask for garnished sauerkraut and we end up with an unfortunate, very basic sausage. Very nice German style decor unfortunately guitarist who plays the sting. And the pompom to go to the toilet you have to pay. To flee.

A lively, busy atmospheric bar in under Hakersche Markt station. The rumble of trains accompanies hearty, meaty German dishes and steins of beer. The Christmas menu is exceptional.

I recently visited restaurant 1840 and had a genuinely great time. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and warm. Had two whiskey cocktails. Some of the worst I have ever tried.

Well furnished place and typical German atmosphere. We were served immediately and had a pleasant meal until the waiter insistently asked us to pay to let us out (the place was empty because it was 5pm). Furthermore, the waiter, with dubious English, tried to force us to leave a tip for the service, the bar and the kitchen (Olè).

We were there twice and were served twice by Henry, a very charming gentleman, very very friendly and helpful!! I can highly recommend this store! Really delicious food and the best service I've ever experienced!! Even without a reservation, we received phenomenal service twice!

Very nice rustic cozy atmosphere. Delicious dishes at fair prices. Very large selection of wine and spirits. As a Bavarian, I almost felt at home.

A rustic restaurant in the S-Bahn arches at Hackescher Markt. The service was excellent and professional. The food came quickly and everyone was full. The atmosphere is rustic and a visit here is highly recommended if you are visiting Berlin.

Very solid traditional German cuisine

Very tasty food with attentive service in a nice rustic atmosphere. My companion and I had the Altberliner Bollenfleisch and were completely thrilled.

Really old-fashioned cozy, with friendly staff. We only had drinks, but the food that passed by looked delicious!

Nice and fast service as well as delicious food, all in all still recommended. The apple strudel was ok with room for improvement. The veal liver Berlin style was good and also recommended.

Despite the high frequency of tourists, we received friendly, quick and courteous service. The ambience is great, like all restaurants in S-Bahn trains. The food (fish, meat, liver, vegetables) was very good.

Inviting atmosphere, staff attentive, service sufficient and menu does not correspond to what is on offer, asking beforehand what else is available is helpful so as not to be disappointed.

We reserved a table for 5 people on Monday - a birthday dinner out. We arrived on time, and were met by a host. The host led us to a table in the far end corner of the restaurant and left us with menus. We waited for 20 mins - no one came to take drinks or food. We asked the host to send a waiter our way, he said its busy but he would. No one came for 15 mins so we asked again - the host said that the outside area of the restaurant is busy so that if we were in a hurry, we should just leave, in a very confrontational manner. The host in fact came up to the face of the member of our group that was speaking as though wanting to fight. Its extremely disappointing to receive this kind of service on our first day in Berlin and in a restaurant that has a good reputation. The group felt uncomfortable. We will not be recommending this restaurant to any of our friends.

Das Essen war ok. Der Service, offenbar "John", war leider völlig überfordert. Man konnte leider die Nerven verlieren. Da ich das hier schon gelesen habe, sollte man die personelle Situation überdenken und ändern. Schade!

Definitely worth a visit if you're walking or shopping nearby. We first visited at 1840 in July and the service was spot on 👌🏻 It certainly didn't disappoint during our 2nd visit either and Fafi made us feel most welcome with his friendliness and hospitality, we'll be back again soon 🫶🏻

Close to the Hackersche Höfe, super delicious food, friendly, funny staff, good value for money, table reservation necessary, been there twice and would go again on my next visit to Berlin

Compared to the one next door, the cocktail was cheap and quite large, very tasty. Cozy, would love to come back again. There are sweet potato fries!

We were a large party visiting R1840. Cant fault it, service was great, food was nice and hearty. They really catered well for one of the party who was vegan. Would recommend if you're looking for a traditional German restaurant in Berlin.

I had a very pleasant experience at this restaurant. The dish was tasty, crunchy, big enough to eat two people. The service was quick and efficient, a very friendly waiter served us. The external environment is an added charm.

I’ve never been to a place where I need to wait for this long. Me and my family arrived at 7 pm, and we waited for our food for more than an hour, and what I’m really mad about is they serve for others first who actually came here later than us. They only serve the food for the ones who complains about it. And what’s hilarious, is they do this to all the guest, one of a lovely old couple waited almost for two hours, even though, they talked to the waiter for three times, they still did not get the food. It’s ridiculous!!

After an hour and a half of waiting we left. Don't go. They should close

Okay. Not a surprise. Overall reasonable, except for the rats as big as cats walking around the tables outside the restaurant.

The ambiance is really great. It is just under the train station and the brick work in the restaurant is so beautiful. The service people are very friendly. When it comes to the food, it is not very special. Not special in two senses; it is German food at the end of the day (quite standard dishes with quite standard ingredients) and it is mediocrly cooked (there are much better German restaurants).

We arrived at 7pm and only got food at 9pm. Also waited a long time for drinks which we only got half an hour after ordering 🥴 The food was fine except for one who got a burger that was half cold. We also had one who didn't get anything at all even though it was ordered. They had gone out for chanterelles that were on the salmon. Could have asked if it was something else instead of first and saying it when everyone else was getting their food. We were a party of 13 people. Can't recommend the place 😕
