Great location at Hackescher Markt. Super relaxed service, but also on the ball. Plus very good food at fair prices. Only mini-deduction - very touristy and therefore super crowded.

If you like an unusual ambience with friendly and very personable staff, this is the place for you. We were able to get to know the store for the first time in 2019. And now 5 years later in 2024 they sank here again. Food is only to be recommended, the taste and size are just right. And the price is fair for it. The drinks prices are also fair and the cocktails are delicious. Special praise goes to the waiter Fafi, who made your stay better with his charming, relaxed and polite manner and put a smile on your face. Keep it up. Maybe see you again in 5 years. Très bon restaurant pas très loin d’Alexanderplatz. Service très rapide, plat (Currywurst) simple mais assiette plutôt copieuse, les frites sont bonnes et pour un coût très raisonnable. Le serveur qui s’est occupé de nous parle un très bon anglais et s’est montré sympathique !

Located at the Hackescher Markt. A lovely restaurant featuring outdoor seating that enhances the dining experience. Efficient and attentive service making the visit enjoyable. Unfortunately, the curry wurst (sausage) fell short of expectations. The sauce tasted like a generic sweet ketchup, lacking the authentic curry flavor one would hope for., though, the fries were good. Crispy on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside.

Nice place with good German food. Despite the location, not super expensive and the food is really good. And the service was top notch.

Food was already at the table after 5 minutes - therefore just as fresh as expected. For typical Berlin food, the taste was disappointing and it wasn't really warm either.

Nous n’y avons mangé tard le soir que deux salades berlinoises accompagnées d’un verre de vin blanc de Monbijou, un ancien château aujourd’hui disparu mais transformé en parc urbain à proximité. La présentation et la qualité des plats étaient très satisfaisantes et l’accueil des serveurs également. Mais la vraie surprise de la soirée est qu’un rat, visiblement en très bonne santé , s’est invité à notre table. Nous l’avons bien sûr chassé mais paraît il le quartier est infesté de rats et la municipalité ne fait rien pour les supprimer. Bref ce n’est pas de la faute du restaurateur mais ça ne lui fait pas une bonne publicité

Einfache Königsberger Klopse bestellt. Sie waren roh innen. Natürlich den vollen Preis bezahlt, obwohl das Essen zurück ging. Das Essen kam und 5 Minuten später erst die Getränke. Leider ist der Service auch eine Katastrophe

Unfortunately the food is just average. Unfortunately, potato salad with Wiener Schnitzel is not original. Too sour, the green cucumber was only placed on top in large pieces instead of small pieces in the salad. Hardly seasoned.

Last night we spontaneously stopped by during the cocktail happy hour (€6.90) and decided to eat something straight away. Service was on point and always super friendly, food came relatively quickly and the cocktails were very tasty. The fries were a blast, nice and crispy and really tasty. My only criticism would be that the patty could have been a little more seasoned. A very successful evening. I'd love to come back!

Unfortunately, the taste of the food was disappointing.

Poor food, we tried burgers, chicken and meatballs, and all of them were bad. Also the wating staff kept forgetting order details(big/small) beer, missed glasses for all, hurried us and in then end openly asked for tip and then argued when I refused to tip. Absolutely a waste of time and money.

The best restaurant we have tried in Berlin. The place is well visited, the atmosphere is good and the service is professional. The food was delicious and well prepared, but you could clearly taste that the fries and fish were cooked in the same fryer.

The salmon and the sweet potatoes were really nice, but other than that we were really disappointed with the place. The burger had no seasonings, the schnitzel was okay but the additional salad was drenched in oil, which made it really unpleasant to eat. The staff were nice but you had to ask for everything yourself: if you wanted to order food, desert or more drinks, you had to find a waiter and ask for it yourselves, they didn’t came to the table to ask. Other than that, you had to pay for the toilet and when paying the bill it was instantly made clear that you “could” choose a percentage of tips to add to your total (it didn’t feel like a choice, we felt kind of forced to tip when this isn’t really the standard in Germany). The place was also very big, but when we were there it wasn’t busy, yet everyone was really spread out on the terras, making us isolated from the other guests, which made the atmosphere less cozy.

We had a wonderful short break with a few drinks. 2x Berliner Kindl, 1x Beeliner White Raspberry and a Berliner Luft.

It's a very nice restaurant. Our waiter Ray was very friendly and attentive. The food tasted very good and the price-performance ratio was absolutely ok. I had the capital plate, which tasted very good, but was too much of a good thing for me :) I didn't expect 2 curry sausages in the ORIGINAL SIZE plus a meatball :) so be hungry for this plate :) The Berliner Bollenfleisch was great - the mashed potatoes were excellent. Extremely delicious food and very good service

On the whole we were quite satisfied. Food was tasty. The currywurst was a bit puny in size. Service was friendly and we were served quickly. However, it was very crowded and you felt like you were at the train station because of the crowd.

When eating (2 slices of onion bread) only 1 slice is served. On the other hand When we asked, we were told that it was 1 large slice and that we could return the food. But it was a completely normal disc. Conclusion: There is open cheating here.

Unfortunately, the wrong drink was delivered twice, it took 15 minutes for the order to arrive and the food took another 45 minutes.

Three mains and all three of them were very bad. Service was a bit slow despite it being busy. Waiting 20mins or more to just get drinks is a very long time. And when the food arrived it went further downhill.

Lively outdoor seating with lots of beer and wine choices. Schnitzel is quite large and good. Their 1/2 chicken very easy tasty. Service was excellent and fast.

Question of dishes: frankly we enjoyed ourselves. The curry wurst, the schnitzel and the shank were killer, it was a real treat. I actually gave it 5 stars I had initially written a somewhat scathing comment since we came across a server who was very unprofessional Establishment contacted me again, the problem was dealt with on their side, so I am modifying my comment because error is human and no one is safe from an individual wishing to make a few ill-gotten euros. I have no need for compensation since it was very good and I understand from reading the management's comment that it is clearly not the policy of this restaurant to have this type of behavior towards sight of the tourist So don’t hesitate because it’s good and plentiful 😊

We made a reservation for 9 people at short notice, it wasn't a problem. The Restaurant 1840 invites you to culinary enjoyment and historical German history in a perfect location. The ambience gives the impression of being quaint to rustic. The vaults below the S-Bahn station have created a beautiful old German traditional flair. The food so far was plentiful and tasty, the selection was absolutely fine and there was something for everyone. What I would like to highlight in a very positive way is the lovely waitress named Carina, who looked after us the whole evening. A very lovely person who sweetened our evening and would definitely be a reason to come back. Personally, I have rarely experienced someone caring for us with such devotion and compassion. I also had to hug her when I said goodbye. Thank you very much at this point and please tell her that we had a really great evening with her. 😊

The incredible expertise and at the same time friendliness of the waitress Carina was so impressive that you almost only wanted to eat here. A dance of joy for the senses.

Service friendly and efficient but meal nothing like expected. I have never seen Jagerschnitzel served with pasta and pasta sauce. I have certainly never seen a schnitzel in the form of a round, thick fishcake shape, normally it is a breaded flattened escalope of veal or pork. Certainly not typical German fare.

We just wanted something to drink and were welcomed very friendly. The service was very friendly and quick, you can sit comfortably here, so everything was fine.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the salad at all. Way too much lettuce. Among other things, one that doesn't taste good at all. Otherwise the food is ok. Just way too much. I think something cheaper and smaller portions would be better. Then not so much will fly away.

Very nice restaurant with a really great atmosphere! Food-wise there is a lot of choice here, it's not bad, but not much more. The staff was very nice, but we sometimes had to wait a long time until someone came. But overall it was nice.

Brutal knuckle, and the Apple Strudell is well worth it. Quality service. Fifo served us, I think his name was, and he recommended and served us 10. The plates are very large so be careful not to overdo it.

Went there with my girlfriend after being disappointed in another place, we were pleasantly surprised by Restauration 1840, the staff were friendly and jolly, as well as helpful and attentive. The food was fabulous and very tasty and reasonable priced. We'll definitely be back next time we're here in Berlin

Very good food and typical beer! The audience is rather touristy. Unfortunately, the lack of staff in the service area is also noticeable here. Unfortunately it took a long time until we were served. Which was a shame because the ambience and the food were very good. Therefore only 3 stars.

The bill contained the statement, in English and all caps; "TIP IS NOT INCLUDED". We found this a remarkably aggressive ploy and decided that a euro and a half was an appropriate reward for such a performance.

Food was very tasty and plentiful. We had taken the prices into account - it's Berlin Mitte. Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time, initially for any service at all... During the long wait for the food, no service came by to ask for new drinks. A pity! There weren't that many visitors there at the time, but there was still a lot of staff bustling around, just somehow not very targeted.

Despite not being busy, it took quite some time before the drinks were served, and far too long for the food(+1 hour), especially since we chose light dishes and seasonal specials of the day. Do not hesitate to ask if your order was in the kitchen if you see the tables next to you are receiving before you, although they ordered after you! We had to insist twice to not miss the next tourist booking at the Reichstag!

Excellent service!!! The waiters and the man at the entrance were super friendly. They explained everything to us about the dishes. Very delicious food and beautiful atmosphere! Regarding prices, it is standard to what you usually see in other places, it is not super expensive. I recommend it without a doubt!!
