Die Leber war schwach und zu trocken, die Pommes waren klein, die Zwiebel war in Ordnung.

Wir hatten ein köstliches Essen. Sehr abwechslungsreich.

Wir waren zu zweit relativ spontan in dem Restaurant Zur Platte essen. Wir bekamen einen schönen Platz auf der Terrasse, hätten aber auch innen sitzen können. Das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Ein Pluspunkt ist, dass man sich seinen Salat selbst zusammenstellen kann. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis passt. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wenn wir mal wieder in der Gegend sind, kommen wir gerne nochmal vorbei.

Nach einem Tag voller Oldtimer genossen wir ein köstliches Essen.

Unser Besuch zu Ostern war leider eine große Enttäuschung. Bereits zu Beginn fiel negativ auf, dass es eine reduzierte Karte gab – was im Vorfeld jedoch in keiner Weise kommuniziert wurde. Auch kleine Aufmerksamkeiten, die wir aus früheren Besuchen kannten und geschätzt haben, wurden gestrichen. So gab es beispielsweise kein Brot mit Kräuterbutter mehr vorab und auch der sonst übliche Schnaps zum Abschluss entfiel. Der Service ließ ebenfalls stark zu wünschen übrig. Die Tischdecken waren sichtbar schmutzig, das Essen kam, nach einer Stunde Wartezeit, teilweise kalt an und es wurde während des gesamten Aufenthalts nicht einmal nachgefragt, ob alles in Ordnung ist. Dadurch bestand gar nicht erst die Möglichkeit, auf Probleme hinzuweisen oder diese beheben zu lassen. Auch weitere Getränkebestellungen wurden nicht aktiv ermöglicht. Besonders unverständlich war der Umgang mit Beilagen: Wenn ein Kind mit am Tisch sitzt, sollte es selbstverständlich sein, Ketchup oder Mayonnaise direkt mit anzubieten. Stattdessen mussten wir dies extra nachbestellen– und erhielten dann lediglich zwei kleine Tütchen für den gesamten Tisch, die zudem noch separat berechnet wurden. Insgesamt entsteht der Eindruck, dass inzwischen an allen Ecken und Enden gespart wird – leider nicht nur bei Kleinigkeiten, sondern auch bei Service und Qualität. Beides entspricht mittlerweile in keiner Weise mehr dem, was wir von früheren Besuchen gewohnt waren.

Waren heute spontan hier Essen. Mit 4 Leuten. Nettes Personal und Essen war mega und super Portionen. Kommen gerne wieder.

"Das leckerste Cordon Bleue was ich je gegessen habe" sagte mein Kollege. Mein Holsteiner Schnitzel war auch echt gut. Frische Salatbar, gute Bratkartoffeln, ordentliche Portionen und top Service. Gerne wieder.

Essen war fast kalt (Lachs mit Bratkartoffeln zu 29€). Kleine Portion.

Beim Essen hat man sich etwas beobachtet gefühlt. Das war recht unangenehm. Dann wurde der Abfluss der Spüle hinter dem dresen während der Öffnungszeit gereinigt und während dem Essen. Das war nicht so angenehm. Essen war nicht schlecht, allerdings die Salzkartoffeln waren sehr matschig und die Pommes hätten noch was länger drinnen bleiben können. Ansonsten war alles super.

Ich war letztes Jahr einmal mit den Kollegen mittwochs abends im September, und einmal mit Freunden sonntags abends im Oktober hier. Leider konnte man keinen Stauder Gutschein einlösen. Ansonsten ein nettes Lokal, wo man noch altes Interieur erkennen kann. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und die Portionen groß. Da es immer gut besucht ist, sollte man reservieren.

Ich kann das Restaurant nur empfehlen! Wir waren mit einer größeren Gruppe dort zum Essen (>20) und alle bekamen zeitnah ihr -leckeres- Essen. Der Service war sehr freundlich und wir hatten einen wirklich schönen Abend. Vielen Dank!

A fantastic, authentic Balkan restaurant. Highly recommended. The portions are generous, almost too much. The price-performance ratio is excellent. The food is superb. I was a guest at Platte again after a long time. The restaurant has been refurbished—a matter of taste, it's not what it used to be. The food was okay. But I won't be coming back. I get the feeling they're trying to reach more young people, even though the older guys built everything up.

Unfortunately, my visit to the restaurant "Zur Platte" was a huge disappointment, and that was mainly due to the food. It was a real shame, because you could tell that quality is no longer a priority here. I told the staff, but their response was hardly satisfactory. There was no apology, nor was there any offer to replace the dish. Overall, the value for money was absolutely not there for such poor quality. I can no longer recommend this restaurant and will definitely not visit it again. Even though we have been loyal customers for 25 years. But now, after the second disappointment, it's over!

We've been regular guests for so many years and decided to celebrate our civil wedding here...what can I say, it couldn't have gone better! We don't need to talk about the food; it was delicious as always! What made our day so special was the fact that all the prior arrangements were made to our complete satisfaction without us even having to look at them. The service was, as always, very friendly and accommodating, but not too intrusive, so we felt completely at home! I can only recommend it to anyone planning a small celebration to do so... All our special requests were fulfilled, and every guest felt completely at home! Thanks again to everyone for everything!

Today, after a long time, we ate at the newly renovated restaurant and were extremely satisfied. Next time I visit my old hometown, I'll definitely go there again.

I was there recently (June 2025). Positive: - Staff is very friendly - Nice outdoor area Converse: - They no longer offer free bread and spread before your meal. - You don't get a schnapps after paying either. - The food wasn't that great either. - The men's restroom wasn't great either. One urinal had been broken for a long time and was covered with a blue garbage bag, and there was water all over the floor.

We were passing through and discovered the restaurant by chance. We got a table for four without a reservation. The service was very friendly and good. Even though the restaurant was busy, the food for all four people was served quickly and at the same time. We liked the platter and enjoyed it. 😘

We reserved a table for 5 people here for Mother's Day and sat outside. We were very surprised by the fact that, of all days, the menu was extremely reduced. Additionally, the prices on the "Mother's Day menu" had been raised by up to €6 per dish, almost like in a flower shop before Mother's Day. I find this quite outrageous, especially since when we made our reservation 14 days in advance, there was no mention of a reduced menu or a "price explosion." We ended up choosing dishes we didn't really want. But then, you're hungry, and it's hardly possible to find something else quickly on Mother's Day. The dishes were delicious, the meat on the grill plate and the other dishes were tasty and perfectly fine. The French fries were a complete disaster. Soft, sloppy, and half-raw potato sticks. When we asked about it, they apologized and explained that the fryer had broken down (a fuse had blown). Dear friends, you don't serve something like that. You wait until the fryer is working properly again and make new fries, or you inform the guest and offer an alternative. The visit was definitely not the Mother's Day highlight we expected. The staff deserves praise. Always friendly and prompt service.

We sat on the outside terrace, the food was very tasty and the service was great.

On May 1st it wasn't even crowded at first, but then more and more people came. Nevertheless everything was fine. Our little dog was also welcome.

Ordered/ate the mushroom schnitzel last night. I should have left it. It looked good when it arrived - but only because the fries appeared to have a certain volume UNDER the schnitzel. Was a maximum of 0.5 cm dry meat in twice as thick breading! But the sauce was very tasty. Atmosphere oldscool but cozy.

Due to treatment at the university clinic, I am currently in Essen with my husband. We live near the “Platte” and eat there very often. The food, no matter what we ate, was always great. Service always friendly.

Great restaurants with home-style cuisine.

I've been eating here more or less regularly for over 30 years and can only praise the consistently good cuisine. The “Platte” team can only be recommended for family celebrations such as birthdays, baptisms, weddings, confirmations, etc.

The food was ok! But not worth it!!! And you are elegantly asked to leave the restaurant after 2 hours, which doesn't work at all!!!

We ate there today with 6 people and will never enter this establishment again. I have rarely been so disappointed by a restaurant. To eat: We ordered 5x pork fillet, 2x with fried potatoes, 1x with spaetzle and 2x gratinated with cheese. All 5 were very tough, so it was definitely not enjoyable. In addition to the problem with the meat, the following problems arose: - The "fried potatoes": They weren't seasoned and were just half raw potatoes. - The spaetzle were simply thrown from the package into the pan without butter, without anything. Just half-burnt spaetzle. - Sauce from the tetra pack was used for all dishes. - All vegetables came from a can/jar. About the service: A short preface: We did not demand any form of compensation, even though most of the food was not edible. - When we were asked if we liked it and we said no, the waitress wanted to discuss with us that the fillet had to be so tough. Which is of course absolute nonsense. - During the meal, the waitress behind us was talking loudly in a foreign language, which we found very unpleasant because it was so loud during the meal. - We felt like second-class customers just because we didn't say that it was tasty. Every customer got a small alcoholic drink at the end, but we didn't. We wouldn't have accepted this anyway, but you can't treat normal customers in such a differentiated way. I would advise everyone against this restaurant, we have some good ones in Essen, which is why I would like to protect everyone from this experience in the future.

Very attentive service, friendly and quick service, the menu is extensive but not too big. The daily menu is recommended. I ordered boiled beef and got a starter soup, the main course with salad from the buffet and for dessert an ice cream with cream and a schnapps Cost of the house. PS:International cuisine. People with a migration background are extremely undesirable here, unless they are “organic German-looking” guests. Then the friendliness of the wait staff will look completely different again.

Hello friends of objective reviews. We had booked a table at the restaurant “ZUR PLATTE” in Essen. The arrival was great. We sat outside in Essen opposite a park. The waiter came and took the drink order, nice, friendly and very competent. Of course he had the menu with him which he handed over to us straight away. A very comprehensive map where every wish was fulfilled. My companion and I decided on a Croatian dish. I had a porcini mushroom soup to start with, which was very tasty and you could tell that the soup wasn't a canned product. My farmer's salad was very good and so was my companion's stuffed meatloaf. Filled with very tasty sheep's cheese, it was discovered that the minced meat was fresh and homemade. The ambience, the cleanliness, including in the toilets, and the very friendly service made the visit a great experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone dining out.

I've been there several times with a friend for steak dinners. We both found the quality and preparation very good. Even with large and thick pieces, the cooking point was adhered to right down to the middle. Clear recommendation!

We actually liked being here, but today was the last time. Are there guests who are preferred? We didn't get bread and butter, we didn't get Julischka. For the salad we asked if we had to make it ourselves and were not told. The service was friendly. I think you should treat all guests equally, because you can also demand service for the price. Almost 70 euros for 2 people and there were only 3 drinks

Home cooking. Been going here for years. We like it and it's a pleasant atmosphere.

The food was great. However, I didn't like it that much. The restaurant is full of tables. Very little space for the legs, everything is just tight. You can't even lean properly on the bench. A pity.

We came to the restaurant by chance. I was looking for the restaurant with a view of Lake Baldeney. I thought it was called Zur Platte... no, that was the name of the street. But we weren't disappointed with the restaurant. It was really tasty and filling. The service was nice and quick. Okay, the ambience is a bit old...but it's better that way and the food is delicious. We will definitely come back again.

Hello, I went to the restaurant again today. I'm alone and have no chance of getting a table in the external gastromy. After placing my order I was treated as nobady. I wasn't told about the salad buffet. I ordered a starter of champions with herb garlic. There is no taste of herb garlic. It just tasted like greasy cream sauce with no flavor. Ordered Zagreb skewer as the main course. Unfortunately, the meat was very dry and tasteless. The fries were good. I paid over 50.00 euros. With three small pilsners. The beer was okay.

We've been there 3 times now and it's always been delicious and very pleasant! The waiters and waitresses are very quick, know how to joke, and are great to talk to. Ambiance is also A1! I can only recommend the restaurant to everyone!

Were invited there to a family celebration. Unfortunately my food wasn't hot. Liver but well fried and not dry. Onions are hardened in the deep fryer, making them more like chips. The staff was friendly and the food was served relatively simultaneously. There was a bit of a problem with the drink replenishment. All in all, still recommended.

Unfortunately, the quality of the kitchen has deteriorated massively. I had an entrecote that was tough and laced with tendons. A pity. That's it!!
