Super cozy with a great location. If you want honest home cooking, this is the right place for you. The service in particular was super accommodating and gave us a great evening. We'll be back!

Went there a week ago to have a little something to eat....we were familiar with the restaurant from years ago....rustically furnished with a view of the inland harbor. The service was rather reserved, the drinks took a little long and... Ordering dishes from us (farmer's breakfast and small schnitzel on toast) also took quite a long time. The taste of the food was quite good, the toast was a bit dry under the schnitzel, I would have liked some herb butter or something similar on top so that it wasn't so dry. Garnished It was with mushrooms and onions, there was nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the ravages of time are taking their toll on the interior design, the counter and the entire inventory need a breath of fresh air... perhaps the requirements (due to monument protection or similar) are too big and expensive, but it makes a sad impression......

Despite staff problems (like everywhere) very hard working and very friendly. Plus some of the best Holstein cuisine in the region. We'll be back!

There were three of us there during lunchtime. We decided on the herring feast. A good choice!!! The caraway first was covered with a pumpernickel topped with herring ;-) . Yummy. After a not-too-long wait, the nice waitress brought the food. Three plates with salad and a rolled-up herring fillet. There was also a large bowl of beans, fried potatoes and a bowl of bacon. plus a bowl with red wine herring and one with normal herring fillets. So four fillets per person. The four different sauces were added. All in all a lovely visit. The taste was delicious!!!! This wasn't the last visit to this restaurant. Not to mention the location at the harbor. All in all: bomb!!!

Very friendly staff, the food tastes delicious. Dogs are also allowed here. They are also taken care of immediately, they are given water right away. There are enough parking spaces. The entrance can only be reached via a few steps.

I, we were here for the second time today at the Zur Alten Mühle restaurant in Glückstadt; of course with our dog. The food, the service from the staff and the ambience are impressive and overwhelmingly beautiful. We will come here again. I can recommend a visit here based on my own conviction and experience.

On my first visit here I ordered herring, generally the first herring I've ever eaten. As a result, I have to say I learned to love Matjes and look back fondly on this moment. Now I tried the crab soup (see picture) and the classic currywurst with fries (see picture). I particularly liked the crab soup, especially now that autumn is starting and so is soup season. It was nice and full-bodied with a few crabs and very tasty. The currywurst with fries also tasted good, although in my opinion the fries could have been fried a little longer. At the lunch time when I was there, the restaurant was busy, so there was a longer wait. I would therefore advise taking some time with you. The service is very nice, but due to the number of guests there was a lot of traveling. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic. The price is top.

Nicely located right on the harbor, good food at reasonable prices.

Yesterday (Saturday, specially (with the B431 closed) we drive 50 km to Glückstadt to eat there. Standing in front of the closed restaurant with a sign in front of it: Closed on August 10th for operational reasons. Otherwise the food there was mostly good. But In the future I will no longer drive 100 km for free.

We sat there with 13 people and unfortunately none of us were enthusiastic about the food. I have to say that not everyone had the same thing but everyone had something different..

This cuisine is praised: I have rarely enjoyed such a good farmer's breakfast and such good herring on pears, beans and bacon.

Could be spruced up. Service staff different sounds and corresponding quality.

Like Grandma's, way too old-fashioned. Meat was super dry. Service assumed we had no idea it would be that way. My conclusion No longer voluntary.

For us, the chef fried the steak very well to medium rare. The fried potatoes served with it were really classic and crispy. The honey mustard sauce for the herring came extra and was very tasty with the freshly homemade potato rösti. The time until dinner was bridged with well-tapped Jever in the 0.4 Tulip. Service on Friday evening may be a little thin. It took a while to establish eye contact for the next jever. But despite the stress, still very friendly. We were really impressed with the food. A very nice evening in Glückstadt, our guesthouse opposite was nice again

Very nice restaurant, very nice service. But unfortunately not a bit handicapped accessible!

Today we ate delicious matjes with fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were fried in a little too much fat for our taste. Otherwise we really liked it. Nice service. Would definitely come back. Thank you!

I was impressed by the service staff. A nice gentleman who looked after the guests with friendly humor and charm. Anyway, you feel very welcome. A pretty restaurant with a nice view of the harbor. The food, well, a steak that was more cooked than fried.... Matjes drowned under a thick cocktail sauce... perhaps it should have been served separately. The steak was still tender, even though the cooking level was missed to medium.

Ordered schnitzel with fried potatoes and salad. Price €15.50. The breading on the schnitzel, which was too light, fell off. The fried potatoes were way too greasy. The chef must have had a bad day. Wouldn't eat there twice.

Very charming restaurant in an old house it also has a terrace under a big chestnut tree for the summer. Very good cuisine, wonderful local produce, Asparagus, potatoes, lamb, beef, herring, Strawberries and all other vegetables! Very nice and professional service run by the owners. Highly recommended

It's been a long time since I've eaten fried potatoes as good as those in the "Zur Alten Mühle" restaurant 🤤🤤🤤🤤 with delicious herring, beans and bacon 😋😋😋

Buffet food! Every dish very tasty! Big praise for the chef and his team! Everything was cooked to perfection, which is extremely difficult for buffet food! We will definitely try the dishes from the menu too!

A fish and a meat dish was ordered. Both dishes came relatively quickly, were hot and tasty. The beer and rhubarb spritzer were at the right temperature. Unfortunately, the dessert we ordered (waffle with ice cream and cherries) took a long time to arrive, but it was okay. The ambience of the house is old German traditional, quite cozy. The location at the harbor is nice.

Went for coffee ☕ in the Restaurant Zur Alten Mühle. Staff very friendly. Cake was very tasty, had apple strudel with ice cream and cream, my husband had crab soup, both were delicious 😋 We would love to come back 👍🍀

I invited my colleagues here for fish 🐟 dinner last year. We were all thrilled and would love to do it again this year. A table has already been booked.

Wir sind zum zweiten Mal hier eingekehrt und waren wieder vollkommen begeistert. Leider habe ich nur Bilder vom Dessert da das Essen so lecker war und ich in meiner Begeisterung es vergessen habe zu fotografieren. Gute leckere Hausmannskost ohne viel Schnickschnack aber nett angerichtet. Hier wird noch traditionelle gekocht. Sehr freundliche Bedienung und das Essen kam recht zügig. Ich kann nur jedem empfehlen dort mal einzukehren, man wird enttäuscht.

Vor Ort gegessen. Super Qualität und sehr freundlicher Service. Ist jetzt eines unserer Lieblingsrestaurants.

Sehr schöne Lage mit altdeutscher Küche, freundliche nette Bedienungen und gut abgeschmeckten Gerichten. Hatte das Steak mit Bratkartoffeln und Pilzen mit Zwiebeln. Traumhaft gewürzt, Fleisch superzart. Werden definitiv wiederkommen.

Eine super Gaststätte direkt am Wasser mit super netter Bedienung und super leckerem Essen. Sehr, sehr Kinderfreundlich. Einfach nur zu empfehlen!!!! Wir kommen gern wieder!

Un restaurant clàssic. Cuina local i amb productes de proximitat. Servei amable. Hi ha terrassa exterior. L'interior està decorat amb temàtica marina. Un bon lloc per fer un bon àpat a bon preu.

Das Restaurant versprüht den Charme der 90iger, alles sauber, aber alt. Das Personal ist grenzwertig freundlich und bemüht, aber nicht vom Fach. Das Essen ist o.k. Das Beste an dem Restaurant ist die Lage und der Blick aufs Wasser.

In einem urigen Restaurant mit super aufmerksamen und netten Personal haben wir sehr sehr lecker gegessen . Großes Lob an den Koch , selten so lecker und frisch gegessen

Personal ist lustlos, alles etwas Altbacken, eben nur für Einheimische man fühlt sich nicht willkommen. Es geht auch anders.

Mit fünf Personen an einem späten Sommerabend unangemeldet bekamen wir zunächst einen Tisch in der Gaststube. Als im 'Biergarten' ein Tisch frei wurde, durften wir 'verholen'. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Ich habe schon sehr viele Sauerfleischgerichte gegessen, hier habe ich eines der besten auf dem Teller gehabt "Hausgemachtes Sauerfleisch aus Brustrippen" ...meine Empfehlung, wenn man nicht immer Matjes essen möchte.... und noch ein Gericht, das 'Roastbeef' war von hoher Qualität und gut zubereitet

Schönes, gemütliches am Hafen von Glückstadt gelegenes Restaurant mit kleinem Biergarten. Leckere Speisen und gute Portionen bei moderaten Preisen. Bedienung sehr nett und hundefreundlich.

Aussen schlicht innen fein, sauber und gemütlich. Karte ist aktuell, übersichtlich und Preis Leistung gut. Schöner Ausblick auf die Anlegeplätze.

Als "Gestrandete" auf dem zum W:O:A mussten wir in Glückstadt eine Zwangspause einlegen. Im Restaurant "Zur Alten Mühle" wurde unser Hunger und Durst gestillt. Freundliche Bedienung, ausgezeichnetes Essen und Preis/Leistung stimmte auch! Danke und sollte ich wieder mal in dieser Ecke sein, wird wieder dort gegessen.

Sehr nette Bedienung. Leckeres Sauerfleisch mit sehr guten Bratkartoffeln satt. Große Matjesauswahl, ich habe mich für die Variation Matjes mit Bohne, Birne, Speck entschieden ein sehr leckere Kombination für Matjes Liebhaber. Vorsicht keine Soße. Wir waren 5 Personen und alle waren mit dem Essen zufrieden. Somit wunderbar.

Leider nur drei Sterne, weil muffelige Servicekraft. Essen hat zwar gut geschmeckt, war aber auf dem Teller sehr überschaubar. Due Außenanlage wirkte etwas ungepflegt.

Meine Frau und ich waren bei unserem Küstenbesuch auf einen Abstecher in Glückstadt am Hafen. Gleich am Hafen liegt dieses sehr gemütlich gelegene Restaurant. Der Außenbereich war super mit Blick auf das Wasser und den kleinen Hafen. Der Kellner war, wahrscheinlich typisch Norddeutsch, etwas "steif" aber trotzdem sehr freundlich. Meine Frau hatte Matjes mit einer Dijon Soße und ich eine Auswahl 3 verschiedener Matjes Varianten, dazu Bratkartoffeln. Das Essen war super lecker und mit 15€ und 17€ auch vollkommen angemessen. Das Lokal ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

Das Essen war sehr sehr lecker. Das sitzen im Außenbereich war sehr ruhig alles war sauber und die Bedienung war jedoch etwas eng zugeknöpft ein Lächeln wäre schön mal schön gewesen. Ich kann das Restaurant dennoch sehr gut empfehlen

Nettes Ambiente, schon fast etwas urig. Die Bedienung ist nett und für jeden Spaß zu haben. Das Essen war gut, es gab nicht wirklich etwas zu beanstanden. Mein Nachtisch, ich hatte Erdbeeren mit einer Kugel Vanilleeis, war allerdings etwas zu süß. Also die Erdbeeren wurde mit etwas zu viel Zucker besteuert. Das Eis war sehr gut. Fazit, man kann dort getrost essen gehen.

Heute bei der Matjeswoche in Glückstadt ohne Reservierung sofort noch einen Platz organisiert obwohl das Haus voll war! Die alte Atmosphäre passt sehr gut zum Haus und der Service war sehr freundlich und schnell. Das Essen war mit frischen Zutaten sehr lecker! Immer wieder gern!

Ein tolles Restaurant, das Essen klasse ..super Fischkarte und auch für nicht Fischliebhaber gibt es tolle Gerichte...ein schöner Biergarten und Kastanien, wir waren Pfingstsonntag dort zum Essen, wäre es nicht soweit weg ,gingen wir öfter dorthin
