Sehr leckeres Essen und höfliche Kellner.

Heute endlich haben wir es geschafft einen Tisch zu ergattern, im Biergarten super Atmosphäre schön mit den kastanien direkt am Wasser. Leider wurde dann alles ganz anders, Getränke wurden schnell abgefragt und dann ging das lange Warten los die Bedienung hat alles durcheinander gebracht und war dermaßen überfordert es wurden Leute bedient die weit nach uns kamen mit essen und Getränke wir hatten kein besteck und haben fast 2 Stunden dort mit warten verpasst es war eine große Gruppe radfahrer dort die den Betrieb arg strapazierten, das muss man aber als guter Gastronom abfedern können es ging eine Flasche zu bruch in all der Hektik leute wurden nicht abkassiert und schlicht und weg vergessen es gab ofenkartoffel mit vielll zwiebeln wenig Champignons und schnitzel in der selben Konstellation dazu Schorle und ein bitteren Nachgeschmack von schlechtem service. Wir werden wohl in Zukunft wieder vorbei gehen und auf alt bewertes setzen schade.

Also lieben Dank an das Team waren heute dort zum Essen Getränke bei der Hitze super schnell am Tisch . Hervorragend also Service top . Wir hatten zweimal Matjes mit Bratkartoffeln- die erste Portion Bratkartoffeln hatte etwas zu viel Salz haben diese dann sofort beanstandet und ohne wenn und aber wurde uns eine neue Portion gebracht alle sogar kein Problem. Alle waren sehr sehr freundlich auch Karten Zahlung kein Problem. Haben draußen gesessen auch alles sehr schön im Schatten gelegt perfekt . Preis Leistung gut etwas teurer aber für uns noch voll in Ordnung. Kommen gerne mal wieder wenn wir in der Nähe sind .

Die Preise stehen leider nicht mehr im Verhältnis zu den gebotenen Speisen. Wir hatten am 20.6. mit 4 erwachsenen Personen den Matjesschmaus. 3 kleine Matjesfilets in lediglich 2 Varianten mit Pell- und Bratkartoffeln, Bohnen und Speckstippe. Es gab 4 Soßen zum Matjes zum Preis von 31 Euro pro Person. Da wir nicht satt geworden sind haben wir 7 Filets nachbestellt (á 3,90€!. Letztendlich sind wir bei über 200 Euro gelandet (inkl. Getränken und 1x Nachtisch)...Der Service war klasse, dafür vielen Dank nochmals. Schade, wir waren dort immer gerne.

Gaststätte am Hafen in ehemaligen Lagerhaus mit Tischen drinnen, und draußen unter großen Kastanien. Freundliche Bedienung und sehr leckere Matjesspezialitäten mit Bratkartoffeln. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist angemessen.

Wir waren an einem Freitag eher spontan auf einem Ausflug nach Glückstadt gekommen und suchten am Vormittag gegen 15:00 Uhr nach einem Restaurant am Hafen. Hier ist die Auswahl eh nicht groß. Um so erfreuter waren wir, dass das Restaurant ZUR ALTEN MÜHLE durchgehend geöffnet ist. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich die saisonalen Leckerbissen, welche von vornehmlich regionalen Lieferanten kommen. Ich war bei der Auswahl zwischen den Fischgerichten und erhielt von der äußerst sympathischen und freundlichen Bedienung den Tip für den saisonalen Elb-Stint, welcher nur im Frühjahr gefangen wird. Mein Freund nahm einen ebenfalls empfehlenswerten Matjes. Im Mai sollte man dann den Neuen Matjes kosten. Die klassische Rote Grütze mit Vanilleeis war als Nachtisch dann als regionale Nachspeise ebenfalls gesetzt und enttäuschte ebenfalls nicht. Das Ambiente würde ich als gepflegt gutbürgerlich bezeichnen und die Aussicht auf den Hafen von hier ist sehr schön. Wer Schickimicki-Gastro bevorzugt sollte allerdings Glückstadt insgesamt meiden. Hier findet man überall eher zünftige Hausmannskost. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis in dem Restaurant „Zur Alten Mühle“ ist sehr ansprechend und wir werden gerne zum Spargel oder Matjes gerne wieder hier einkehren.

Waren zu 4. spontan hier an einem Samstag. Gut besucht, aber noch einen etwas dunklen Platz in der Ecke bekommen. Sehr freundliche Bedienung und leckeres Essen. Preis Leistung ok!!

Eine gut bürgerliche Deutsche Küche lecker wie bei Muttern kann man weiterempfehlen!

Essen- Bratkartoffeln super fettig. Auf der Speisekarte steht Gourmet Bratkartoffeln, davon habe ich nichts gemerkt. Zwiebeln sind in die Pfanne reingesprungen und ganz schnell wieder raus. Pilze waren dafür tot geraten. Fleisch war leider mit Genusch. Service- Ich habe es in der Gastronomie gelernt, das man die Gläser der Gäste unten anfässt und nicht ganz oben, wo der Gast mit seinen Lippen ran geht. Das ist leider sehr unhygienisch. Ambiente- 70er Styel. Ein paar neue helle Gardinen und weiße Wände wäre schon schön

Super gelegen kleine Karte spricht für frische haben Wiener Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln und Salat gegessen. Bratkartoffeln eine kleine Spur zu fettig sonst lecker und das für 19,90€ Toller Ausblick auf den Hafen.

Great restaurant right on Glückstadt harbor. Not fancy, but absolutely wonderful. We ate in the garden area during the pandemic. It was fantastic. Dogs are allowed. Of course, you have to keep your dog under control.

We're really sorry, but this was a disappointment. The atmosphere is quite dated. The menu, on the other hand, looked tempting – very extensive. We ordered the head cheese and a baked potato with herring. The potato was awful. I've never had anything like it. The fried potatoes with the head cheese, however, were quite good. The herring was of poor quality, the head cheese acceptable. Overall, a real shame! The server was friendly, but she did mix up the tables at first. Sorry! We won't be back.

I always enjoy going there whenever I'm docked in the harbor. The plaice is amazing, and the rest of the menu is also highly recommended.

The restaurant is located right on the harbor with a view of the water and the lock. Very delicious food, the food is still cooked properly. A very good selection of fish dishes. The prices are reasonable. The staff are always pleasant and friendly.

We had delicious matjes herring filled with leeks, a truly nostalgic German restaurant, just like we remember from our youth! And then the Wiener schnitzel for my husband – fantastic!

The location by the harbor is quite good. The staff is friendly and attentive. My wife and I were disappointed with the food. The breading on the schnitzel was soft and mushy. The schnitzel looked like it had been steamed. The fried potatoes were also disappointing, as they weren't cooked properly. When I asked about them, I was told they were new potatoes, which don't brown when fried. I couldn't really believe that. I don't need to go there again.

We had the Matjes feast. It was super delicious. Matjes from Plötz, crispy fried potatoes, and the four sauces were delicious 😋. The caraway with a hat at the front was a must. With such good food, we needed another one afterward. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, the waiters were very inattentive, listening with only one ear because they were already on their way to the next table or busy tidying up, and so one or two things were forgotten. Unfortunately, they weren't very friendly either. It's a shame when a restaurant rests on its good location like that. The food was quite tasty, though.

Yes, highly recommended. Fast, friendly service. Super-delicious farmhouse breakfast, generous portions, and a bowl for the dog was even included. The ambiance is maritime, rustic, not noisy, with large tables, inviting you to linger with a view of the marina. I'll be back. Guaranteed 😋

Unfortunately, I can only advise against the sauerfleisch. Sauerfleisch is usually made from pork neck or pork belly. Here, they use the ribs. Half of the plate consists of bones and gristle, the rest is quite dry due to the lack of fat. The fried potatoes were good. The 45 minutes aren't great either. The herring is very good, said my companion, but they're delivered ready-made. Maybe I'll give the old mill another chance, but never sauerfleisch again.

Wonderfully situated on the water, with boats and yachts in front. Seating inside and outside is both very pleasant. And the food is delicious. Not to mention the friendly service.

Yesterday, May 1st, 2025, I had dinner at the Alte Mühle restaurant. You can sit there beautifully both inside and outside, I made myself comfortable under the beautiful chestnut trees. The staff was very friendly, even though it was certainly a long and tiring day. The food came quickly, it was tasty and enough for a hungry sailor! I recommend the sour meat with fried potatoes and tartar sauce - great value for money - and a fresh Pilsner or Alster.

No Short and sweet. -Dry panfish - Fried potatoes with the panfish were floating in fat and tasted like nothing - the steak was not medium but well done - Beef cheeks were dry, tasteless and tough (and no, it definitely doesn't have to be that way, according to the waiter it was) - The vegetables looked like vegetables, but didn't taste like anything - Waiting over an hour for the food wasn't great either - the water we ordered for €4 was warm All in all very sad for my mother, who had her 82nd birthday yesterday and was really looking forward to a lovely evening. Only the young woman who took our order was really very friendly.

An inn with the charm of the 70s/80s. An extremely friendly waitress quickly brought us a menu and beer. The sour meat tasted very tasty. I found the black bread slices with scrambled eggs and a few crabs and herring to be very small for the price. I didn't like the herring, the rest was good but not enough.

Authentic ambience in a beautiful old inn. We ordered the typical Glückstadt food. Matjes. We really enjoyed it.

Very nice selection of warming drinks with a twist effect. Great service with prompt, friendly service and a water bowl for four-legged friends. Very attentive. Unfortunately, there are minus points for the baked goods, which I would not order a second time but should choose a pastry shop. The food is certainly very tasty and is definitely worth a next visit.

Some people from Germany should check out this restaurant. With 48 people, we had three different dishes and were back on the bus after an hour. Super delicious food: schnitzel, herring, cod, all with side dishes. The staff and the kitchen were so friendly, you can't beat it. Our group was thrilled. Keep up the good work. Not for gourmets but rustically good!

After we were invited to two weddings there with great food and a nice atmosphere, four of us ate there today. Three stints and one salmon trout. The stint was okay. My salmon was delicious. The sauce was cold, which is how it should be according to the service. My spinach was quite soft at less than lukewarm (I would say cooked too long) and the worst thing was that all the liquid from the spinach was spread over the plate. Taste is a matter of opinion but it should be warm! When I mentioned this (I didn't eat it) she said the kitchen would pay attention to it next time. Paid in full! The fried potatoes were too flabby for us, not crispy and lots of small grinders

At first we weren't greeted at all... the waitress just looked at us with a dark expression. Then we were given a seat in the middle of the room and were immediately ignored... After quite a while we left the restaurant again... It's a shame, we were really looking forward to a nice stay...

The stint, the Finkenwerder style plaice and the sour meat were a poem. And where else can you get such good fried potatoes?

Super cozy with a great location. If you want honest home cooking, this is the right place for you. The service in particular was super accommodating and gave us a great evening. We'll be back!

Went there a week ago to have a little something to eat....we were familiar with the restaurant from years ago....rustically furnished with a view of the inland harbor. The service was rather reserved, the drinks took a little long and... Ordering dishes from us (farmer's breakfast and small schnitzel on toast) also took quite a long time. The taste of the food was quite good, the toast was a bit dry under the schnitzel, I would have liked some herb butter or something similar on top so that it wasn't so dry. Garnished It was with mushrooms and onions, there was nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the ravages of time are taking their toll on the interior design, the counter and the entire inventory need a breath of fresh air... perhaps the requirements (due to monument protection or similar) are too big and expensive, but it makes a sad impression......

Despite staff problems (like everywhere) very hard working and very friendly. Plus some of the best Holstein cuisine in the region. We'll be back!

There were three of us there during lunchtime. We decided on the herring feast. A good choice!!! The caraway first was covered with a pumpernickel topped with herring ;-) . Yummy. After a not-too-long wait, the nice waitress brought the food. Three plates with salad and a rolled-up herring fillet. There was also a large bowl of beans, fried potatoes and a bowl of bacon. plus a bowl with red wine herring and one with normal herring fillets. So four fillets per person. The four different sauces were added. All in all a lovely visit. The taste was delicious!!!! This wasn't the last visit to this restaurant. Not to mention the location at the harbor. All in all: bomb!!!

Very friendly staff, the food tastes delicious. Dogs are also allowed here. They are also taken care of immediately, they are given water right away. There are enough parking spaces. The entrance can only be reached via a few steps.

I, we were here for the second time today at the Zur Alten Mühle restaurant in Glückstadt; of course with our dog. The food, the service from the staff and the ambience are impressive and overwhelmingly beautiful. We will come here again. I can recommend a visit here based on my own conviction and experience.

On my first visit here I ordered herring, generally the first herring I've ever eaten. As a result, I have to say I learned to love Matjes and look back fondly on this moment. Now I tried the crab soup (see picture) and the classic currywurst with fries (see picture). I particularly liked the crab soup, especially now that autumn is starting and so is soup season. It was nice and full-bodied with a few crabs and very tasty. The currywurst with fries also tasted good, although in my opinion the fries could have been fried a little longer. At the lunch time when I was there, the restaurant was busy, so there was a longer wait. I would therefore advise taking some time with you. The service is very nice, but due to the number of guests there was a lot of traveling. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic. The price is top.

Yesterday (Saturday, specially (with the B431 closed) we drive 50 km to Glückstadt to eat there. Standing in front of the closed restaurant with a sign in front of it: Closed on August 10th for operational reasons. Otherwise the food there was mostly good. But In the future I will no longer drive 100 km for free.

We sat there with 13 people and unfortunately none of us were enthusiastic about the food. I have to say that not everyone had the same thing but everyone had something different..

This cuisine is praised: I have rarely enjoyed such a good farmer's breakfast and such good herring on pears, beans and bacon.

For us, the chef fried the steak very well to medium rare. The fried potatoes served with it were really classic and crispy. The honey mustard sauce for the herring came extra and was very tasty with the freshly homemade potato rösti. The time until dinner was bridged with well-tapped Jever in the 0.4 Tulip. Service on Friday evening may be a little thin. It took a while to establish eye contact for the next jever. But despite the stress, still very friendly. We were really impressed with the food. A very nice evening in Glückstadt, our guesthouse opposite was nice again

I was impressed by the service staff. A nice gentleman who looked after the guests with friendly humor and charm. Anyway, you feel very welcome. A pretty restaurant with a nice view of the harbor. The food, well, a steak that was more cooked than fried.... Matjes drowned under a thick cocktail sauce... perhaps it should have been served separately. The steak was still tender, even though the cooking level was missed to medium.

Ordered schnitzel with fried potatoes and salad. Price €15.50. The breading on the schnitzel, which was too light, fell off. The fried potatoes were way too greasy. The chef must have had a bad day. Wouldn't eat there twice.

Very charming restaurant in an old house it also has a terrace under a big chestnut tree for the summer. Very good cuisine, wonderful local produce, Asparagus, potatoes, lamb, beef, herring, Strawberries and all other vegetables! Very nice and professional service run by the owners. Highly recommended

It's been a long time since I've eaten fried potatoes as good as those in the "Zur Alten Mühle" restaurant 🤤🤤🤤🤤 with delicious herring, beans and bacon 😋😋😋
