During our day trip to beautiful Idstein, we stopped at the restaurant "Zum Schwanen" in the evening following a recommendation. The food was excellent! We both had ratatouille with thyme potatoes and dip: vegetarian, very tasty, and filling. We each had two excellent glasses of white wine. For €23, you really can't beat it! The ambiance of the old half-timbered house was also very nice and pleasant, both inside and out. Highly recommended!

The stube is so nice and cozy. Delicious food and reasonably priced. There were two younger staff members, two very friendly, lovely ladies. Who knows, I might come back soon.

We had requested a table online for our weekend of June 6-8, 2025, specifically for June 7. They responded very kindly, asking whether we would prefer the larger dining room or the smaller, quieter one. This wasn't important to us; being centrally located wouldn't be a bad idea. The restaurant is small but incredibly cozy! We were seated near the bar and were greeted and served very warmly by two young ladies. The manager then came over for a very friendly welcome chat; we felt very much at home. The food was incredibly delicious and the prices very reasonable. But the friendliness of the two waitresses really impressed my wife and me; it was truly sweet. We give it 5 out of 5 points; the value for money was just right. I was absolutely thrilled with this restaurant! The food was incredibly delicious and the portions were truly generous. A charming restaurant! We had a really wonderful meal here...all the typical German food one could hope for are well represented on the menu, in addition to a number of daily specials they offer. Service was good even though it was pretty busy during our visit. Prices were very reasonable.

Were again today in one of our favorite restaurants in Idstein with 12 people. Great food, really nice staff, it couldn't be better.

We wanted to eat here but the service was so unfriendly that we left straight away.

Wegen der gesperrten Autobahn sind wir an einem sonnigen Sonntag in den Schwanen geraten. Mit Mühe noch einen Platz draußen gefunden. Die tüchtigen Serviertöchter hatten trotz der vielen Gäste „den Laden im Griff“. Die Speisen gutbürgerlich deutsch und frisch gekocht. Preis - Leistung super. Ambiente malerisch. Eine gastronomische Perle.

Highway closed. Searched locally and found the Swan on Google. Direct hit. If you have made it to the old town of Idstein and found a parking space, you are in good hands in Schwanen. The announced “German cuisine” exceeds all expectations. Everything is freshly cooked. The friendly waitress remains friendly, even when she has her hands full. Price-performance ratio very good. Atmosphere picturesque. You have to go there.

Undisputed Idstein's No. 1 when it comes to "RESTAURANTS" Be sure to make a reservation, otherwise you will unfortunately come away empty-handed or have to accept a short waiting time, which is definitely worth it. We walked past the restaurant and the half-timbered house looks very inviting from the outside. A very cozy atmosphere, very nice staff and the chef personally asked if everything was OK. The country beer is highly recommended, the menu is clear and there is something for everyone. The saddle of lamb was really perfectly prepared, a very good potato gratin. Another chef who knows his craft!

The restaurant is a cozy location to feel good and stay seated! The seating is a bit cramped, but still good. However, the choice of food is very limited and is above average compared to Idstein! The service with very young staff is functional, but with little soul! What's missing is the warmth of an older generation and the occasional chat to cheer you up, as you would expect from old inns. The swan has already digested some owners, but it should become more customer-oriented again so that people want to come back.

Great restaurant that we always enjoy going to. Every dish is really delicious, varied menu (vegetarians can also choose between several hot dishes, which our daughter really appreciates!), very nice people who serve and a beautiful ambience (second oldest restaurant in the area). We will be back!

Wer eine klassische deutsche Küche sucht, ist hier richtig. Ich habe bislang erst einmal hier gegessen und war zufrieden mit meinem Essen. Die Kellner:innen sind auch sehr nett. Die Räumlichkeiten sind gut, aber mir persönlich bisschen zu eng, aber das ist mein eigenes Empfinden. Alles in allem bin ich aber zufrieden, mit dem, was man für sein Geld bekommt 👍🏼

Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich, die Mitarbeiter aufmerksam und ehrlich freundlich. Ich bin nur etwas enttäuscht vom Preis-Leistungsverhältnis meines Gerichts Pfannkuchen Caprese, der Belag war wenig, aber dafür hübsch drapiert. Dennoch bedanke ich mich sehr herzlich für den schönen Ort und ich finde auch die ausgeklügelten Auswahlmöglichkeiten in Ihrer Speisekarte bemerkenswert! Vielleicht sind die Preise bei anderen Gerichten verhältnismäßig passender.

Die Speisekarte ist nicht sehr groß, was meist auf frische Zutaten hindeutet. Das Schnitzel mit Pfeffersauce war fantastisch. Kompliment an den Koch, der auch der Besitzer zu sein scheint. Der Service war sehr gut und als ein Problem aufkam, außerordentlich bemüht, eine Alternativlösung zu finden. Sollten wir wieder nach Idstein kommen, schauen wir sicher gerne wieder vorbei.

Super leckeres Essen, wir hatten Steak mit Bratkartoffeln. Das Steak auf den Punkt zubereitet und die Bratkartoffeln mit Speck und Zwiebeln so wie sein sollten einfach klasse ! Zusammen mit dem schnellen und super freundlichem Service eine ganz klare Weiterempfehlung.

Wir waren zu Besuch im schönen Idstein im Taunus. Wir haben mittags nur eine Suppe gegessen,fanden das Essen aber so lecker, dass wir abends noch mal eingekehrt sind. Wir hatten das Hacksteak mit Pfeffersosse und Bratkartoffeln. Dazu frisches Gemüse.Alles knackig ,mit frischem Thymian. Sehr lecker. Danach hatte ich ein göttliches Pannacotta...Danke und ein Lob an den Koch!!!! Die Bedienung war auch supernett. Alles prima Kann es auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen

Wir waren heute zum Osteressen. Die Bedienungen sind sehr freundlich und das Essen frisch und lecker. Auch viele Köstlichkeiten aus Hessen wie „Handkäs mit Musik“ oder „Gree Soß“ findet man hier. Bier, Appelwoi und Frucht Schorlen, Schnäpse sind auch auf der Menü Karte. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Wir haben auf der Durchfahrt Halt gemacht und hier zu Mittag gegessen. Uriges Ambiente, nette Bedienung und sehr leckeres Essen. Mein Lamm war hervorragend. Nur zu empfehlen.

Ottimo ristorante tipico tedesco, ambiente molto accogliente e curato nei dettagli. Peccato la mancanza dei menu in inglese e la poca conoscenza della lingua da parte delle addette alla sala. In ogni caso siamo riuscite a ordinare e la cena è stata deliziosa. 3 zuppe di crauti e gamberi, una wiener schnitzel, un filetto, e medaglioni di maiale con crema di funghi. Tutti i piatti molto abbondanti e accompagnati da patate al forno e un'insalata a testa. Prezzi concorrenziali considerata la qualità del prodotto, 30 euro a persona. Un'ottima esperienza.

Der ToGo Service und die Qualität sind der Hammer. Wir hatten heute die Gänsebrust mit dem hausgemachten Rotkraut, Knödeln und eine phantastische Pflaumensoße - abgerundet mit den leckeren Maronen. Wir kommen wieder zum Abholen und hoffen, dass wir bald wieder in Eurem gemütlichen Restaurant genießen dürfen.

Obwohl wir zu 15 min vor Öffnung dort waren, bat man uns ein Platz an. Wir bestellten Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln, Salat, Pfannkuchen mit Camembert, Salbei Gnochis. Auf extra Wünsche ist man gerne eingegangen. Essen hat allen sehr gut geschmeckt. Geschmacklich Stark. Frische Zutaten. Können wir gut empfehlen. Preislich auch in Ordnung.

Gemütliches Restaurant mit guter deutscher Küche wie z.B. das Kotelett als Tagesempfehlung. Die selbst gemachten Bratkartoffeln schmecken vorzüglich. Aufmerksamer und netter Sevice !

Kleine aber feine Karte. Der überbackene Ziegenkäse als Vorspeise sehr zu empfehlen. Steak mit sehr guter Fleischqualität und auf den Punkt zubereitet. Schöne Weine und eine tolle Whiskey-Karte. Freundliches Personal. Wir können es bedingungslos empfehlen und werden wiederkommen.

Wir hatte in der Weihnachtszeit eine Gans mit Beilagen vorbestellt. Es war sehr lecker und die Bedienung sehr nett und aufmerksam. Das Resaurant ist in einem alten Fachwerkhaus, man sitzt gemütlich und die Räumlichkeiten besitzen charme. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

We ordered our traditional Christmas Goose for takeout and it was excellent. Friendly service and everything was cooked to perfection. Very large portions for a family of four, with plenty of leftovers. If you want to relax at Christmas, leave the cooking to Gasthof zum Schwanen, you won’t be disappointed!

Das Essen ist immer sehr lecker, der Service freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir waren schon oft dort essen und immer zufrieden. Die Preise sind auch in Ordnung. Das Lokal ist urig und gemütlich.

Immer noch mit dem Reisemobil in Idstein. Wir hatten hier einen sehr guten Gänsebraten in diesem ansprechenden Restaurant. Dazu einen guten Spätburgunder, offen und wurden freundlich bedient.

Es gibt von mir nur Lob für den Gasthof "Zum Schwanen"! Im alten Fachwerkgebäude untergebracht ist das Ambiente urig, Küche und Service sind ausgezeichnet und die Spezialitäten - Gerichte aus der Schlemmerecke und diverse Pfannkuchengerichte - Spitzenklasse. Nicht umsonst sind es viele Stammgäste, die hier immer wieder einkehren.
