Restaurant Zala Hammerbrook in Hamburg

Die Auswahl an Gerichten ist groß, allerdings ist das Essen die Preise nicht wert. Der Service ist okay. Das Ambiente leider nicht sehr schön. Die Qualität des Essens ist eher vom Imbiss, aber nicht von einem Restaurant. Die Preise für Essen und Trinken sind zu hoch.

Ich habe über Lieferando bestellt und über 1,5 Stunden auf mein Essen gewartet. Hätte ich nicht selbst angerufen, wäre meine Bestellung vermutlich gar nicht angekommen. Ich musste mehrmals hinterhertelefonieren. Der erste Mitarbeiter versprach mir, mich zurückzurufen. Zehn Minuten später musste ich jedoch selbst erneut anrufen, und der Mitarbeiter war plötzlich gar nicht mehr erreichbar. Es ist wirklich schwach, sich ständig hinter Ausreden zu verstecken. Ich habe die ganze Zeit gewartet, und es kam einfach nichts an. Selbstverständlich hätte ich bei so einer Situation zumindest einen Rabatt, einen Gutschein oder eine kleine Aufmerksamkeit als Entschuldigung erwartet. So mit Kunden umzugehen, ist wirklich eine Frechheit.

Wir haben Menü 3 bestellt und es war wirklich unglaublich viel Essen. Die Bedienung war schnell und sehr freundlich. Preis-Leistung wirklich top.

Essen war okay - aber die Menge (Pakoras für 2 zu jeweils 13 € pro Person!!!!) extrem wenig. Auf Nachfrage, ob der kleine Teller allen Ernstes für 2 Personen sei, erhielten wir lediglich ein lapidares Kopfnicken. Schade. Wir kommen sicher nicht noch einmal!

Das bestellte Pakora für 2 Personen war sehr lecker. Es kam allerdings auf einem sehr übersichtlich gestalteten, in 3 Fächer unterteilten "Krankenhaus-Teller". Die Menge des Essens war für 13 EUR pro Person sehr sehr klein - für diesen Preis hätten wir mit der doppelten Menge gerechnet, zumal eines der Tellerfächer ausschließlich aus ein paar grünen Salat-Fetzen (im Einkauf reden wir hier von Centbeträgen) bestand. Auf Nachfrage ob es sich hier wirklich um die Menge für zwei Personen handeln würde bekamen wir lediglich ein emotionsloses "ja" als Antwort. Eine Rückfrage ob es geschmeckt hätte, alles in Ordnung sei oder noch Wünsche besehen würden gab es leider gar nicht. Kurz: Essen gut aber für die Menge viel zu teuer.

The main course was okay. Quite tasty, actually. But please change the frying oil! Inedible. I ordered ONE vegetable pakora, which I couldn't eat. It was dripping with fat and tasted rancid. I only noticed later that I was actually charged for 2 – since the menu only lists one price for either 2 or 3 pieces. Not so great. 😢

Solid restaurant with solid food at expensive prices. (Only ate Indian food.) A colleague and I had an Indian dish during our lunch break and were quite satisfied. The presentation was pretty, in a small bronze bowl on a plate for the rice. The food tasted quite good, but it's no masterpiece, and the preparation required some assistance. (We saw a man with pre-stocked sauces for the Indian and Italian dishes ;) ). Unfortunately, the price is high for what it is. The prices are also not entirely transparent. The blackboard lists dishes for eight euros (to go?) and the menu lists them for 16 euros. That's quite a wide price range. My drink was listed at 2.4 euros on the blackboard but not listed on the menu at all. The bill came to 4.20 euros. Disappointing... Of course, you have to ask yourself what you expect from a restaurant that offers Indian, Italian, and sushi. In terms of taste it's exactly what you get, but in terms of price it's WAY too expensive.

I'm from Sri Lanka and I love Indian food. And this is the best Indian restaurant in Hamburg. Zala is the best Indian restaurant in Hamburg. I've ordered from here five times in the last week and also eaten in the restaurant. It has a really nice atmosphere.

Yesterday, a group of six of us went out to eat. Since there was nothing else near our hotel, we went to this restaurant. We all wanted to play it safe and ordered pizza. What can I say? The dough was frozen. The toppings were pretty bad. They tasted awful. In my opinion, this is a truly disgraceful restaurant. If you can't even make a pizza or the dough yourself, you should reconsider whether you should even offer it. Because the feedback you get is more criticism than praise. I wouldn't recommend it. There's a bakery next door; you're better off spending your money there. I can't comment on the other dishes. But there are plenty of other reviews for those.

Went here spontaneously to eat during our Hamburg vacation. The restaurant was near our hotel. It's a bit confusing that one sign says Sushi and another says Indian. You get 3 cards because there are 3 restaurants in one (Zala - Indian, Cucino - Pizza, Sushify - Sushi) The price was slightly higher at €17 for the chicken curry and €25 for the lamb tikka, drinks were 0.33l for a good €4.5. The taste was very good and the portion size was good, I was offered extra rice by the staff (I think I looked very hungry 😅). Ambience looks industrial with a bit of Indian flair.

The sushi was delicious, the pizza was quite to my taste, I will be back to try other dishes 😍😍😍

Unfortunately, my visit to the Zala Hammerbrook restaurant was disappointing. The atmosphere seemed rather bland – industrial and cold, with a crooked, hastily mounted sign in the window that didn't make a good first impression. The menus were sticky, heavily worn, and had food residue on them – unhygienic and unpleasant. Particularly annoying: There are two different menus (sushi & Indian) with different drink prices. When I asked if I could get a drink from the sushi menu at a cheaper price, I was told that the menu apparently didn't exist – even though I was holding it in my hand. Instead, I was asked to order water for €9 (0.75 l) from the more expensive menu. On Lieferando, different, cheaper prices apply – which seems arbitrary and not customer-friendly. The food (chicken korma) wasn't particularly tasty – extremely sweet, with an excessive amount of raisins and little meat. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I can't recommend the restaurant.

We were staying around the corner from the hotel and were looking for somewhere to eat in the evening. The Indian restaurant is a kind of food court where you can order Indian food, pizza, and sushi (there are three menus for basically three restaurants). The atmosphere wasn't great, it had a shopping center feel. The service was difficult to understand, even though we pronounced things exactly as he did, but it was friendly. The food was okay, unfortunately not really good, as it was blandly seasoned and the portions were just about sufficient. The bread could have been warm; it didn't taste freshly made. We wouldn't go there again because I didn't think the price was good for the quality. €17 for a regular chicken curry was even the cheapest meat dish. I also thought a bottle of water for €9 was too much.

Ordered via Lieferando: The lamb curry (delicious) had four pieces of meat – sorry, but that's not enough. Vegan coriander dip: completely runny. I ordered at 3:00 PM for 6:30 PM and received my food at 7:05 PM.

Food was really awesome. We have ordered Panner Makhani and Pulav. The taste was amazing. My friends ordered chicken curry and chicken Makhana. They tasted delicious. Worth going with friends or family. They have served us a complimentary dessert. It was too delicious.

My food was served quite cold on the plate, I wouldn't go there again.

We were here for the first time today and it was fantastic. We had the Tikka Menu and Chicken Curry and it was just fantastic. The food was great and the menu had a good ratio of meat to vegetables. What I particularly liked was that you could choose between pizza, pasta, sushi and Indian cuisine. So there is something for everyone! Service was also great and they were very nice. That's why I give it a 5 out of 5 and can really recommend it to everyone!

Ordered there for the first time. Fast delivery and very friendly. Food tasty, hot and lots. I will order there again. I can't say anything about the ambience there.

Ordered, came quickly and hot. It was ok but anyone who knows Indian food will find it mediocre. The pakora had too much dough, the sauces of the curries were all quite similar and unfortunately very sweet, apparently too much sugar in the sauce. Reminiscent of ready meals. But definitely too expensive for that.

A bit difficult to find as it is shown as a single restaurant in the food court and on maps. FOOD was very tasty and the service was super friendly. Thanks for that :)

Pay attention, the outdoor advertising says Sushi and not Zala!

We spontaneously had an appetite for Indian food and ordered there from the hotel. It was easy to reach on foot. Food was suitably ready, well packaged for transport and hot. Tasted very tasty. Due to the current renovation situation on and in the restaurant, you can't sit there quite as nicely. The food could have been a little spicier. Otherwise we were well fed.

Freshly prepared wholesome delicacies. Will be back for more
