Durch die Bank war es sehr dunkel im Gasthaus. Essen ist sehr lecker wobei wir uns geärgert haben, dass man bei gehobener Gastronomie für 1 Esslöffel Senf 1 Euro extra berechnet. Das ist kleinlich:-(.

Wir haben uns von den Bewertungen leiten lassen. Das Essen war so la la. Wiener Schnitzel dünn wie ein Blatt Papier. Die Bratkartoffeln waren woanders entschieden besser. Würde nicht nochmal da hingehen. Das Ambiente ist schön, das war's aber auch schon.

Wir haben bei einem Besuch in Würzburg im "Stachel" zu Mittag gegessen. Ein Restaurant mit einem tollen Ambiente,einem aufmerksamen Service und einer überdurchschnittlichen Qualität des Essens.Wenn wir wieder mal in Würzburg sind werden wir wieder hier Essen.

Das essen war super, meiner Meinung nach passte aber die Stimmung nicht. Es war sehr Still wie in der Schule im Unterricht. Wenn man sich die Geschichte zu der Weinstube durchliest und man auf die Lampenschirme achtet, muss es in dort ganz anders zugegangen sein. Ich werde trotzdem wieder zum essen erscheinen!!!

Sehr lecker mit der ganzen Familie gegessen, begleitet mit einem hervorragendem Wein in diesem wunderschönen alten Haus.

Einfach schön. Im Weinhaus Stachel ist ein Abendessen ein sehr empfehlenswertes Erlebnis und dies auch in der turbulenten Vorweihnachtszeit oder im Frühjahr in der Spargelsaison. Ein Ort zum Genießen.

Auf Empfehlung eines Freundes besuchte ich dieses Restaurant in Würzburg, und es war eine ausgezeichnete Wahl. Jedes Gericht, das wir bestellten, war hervorragend, und die Weinempfehlung der Kellnerin war absolut perfekt. Es war ein so köstliches und unvergessliches Esserlebnis, dass ich sehr gerne mit meiner Familie wiederkommen möchte!

Das Essen war deftig, wie es zu erwarten war. Danach war man auf jeden Fall guuut gesättigt, fast sogar etwas übersättigt. Es gab nur eine „leichtere“ vegane Variante, aber die hat auch ordentlich gesättigt. Der Blattspinat war mir groben Salzplättchen versehene und für meinen Geschmack viel zu salzig. Das hat es leider etwas zerstört. Der Service war super freundlich und auf die Gäste fokussiert. Wir standen leider zeitlich etwas unter Druck, weil die nächsten Gäste (die im Gegensatz zu uns reserviert haben) dann warteten. Preislich muss man schon etwas tiefer greifen.

Sehr aufnerksamer, frendlicher Service. Sehr leckere Variationen von Ravioli und tollem Sauerbraten, auf den Punkt. Reservierung unbedingt erforderlich.

Wir durften mit einer Gruppe von 15 Personen ein tolles Essen genießen. Das Personal sowie das Ambiente sind ebenfalls hervorzuheben. Immer wieder gerne!

Ein wunderbarer Abend - ein schöner Tisch in einer gemütlichen Ecke, eine sehr freundliche, aufmerksame und herzliche Bedienung und das Essen war erstklassig - ganz lieben Dank! Sehr empfehlenswert!!!

Das Essen war ziemlich gut und das Ambiente sehr angenehm. Hinweis für Vegetarier: Gerichte mit Parmesan sind auf der Speisekarte als vegetarisch gekennzeichnet. Es wäre ratsam, vor der Bestellung nachzufragen, ob der Käse tatsächlich ohne tierisches Lab zubereitet wurde. Ich habe mich stattdessen für das vegane Tagesgericht entschieden, was sehr gut war.

Ich habe dieses Restaurant auf die wärmste Empfehlung eines Stuttgarter Gastronomen, eines passionierten Weinkenners, reserviert. Gleich vorweg: Es war unser Fehler, dass wir zu acht statt zu sieben Personen waren. Wir hätten anrufen sollen, aber das passierte alles nur wenige Minuten vor unserer Ankunft im Restaurant, und wir entschuldigen uns dafür … vielleicht waren sie deshalb etwas unhöflich zu uns? Ich sage das, weil das Erlebnis meine Erwartungen bei Weitem übertroffen hat, angefangen bei den Weinen: Ich bat um die Weinkarte, um sie in Ruhe durchzusehen und genau zu verstehen, was sie hatten und was nicht – schließlich stammen hier die besten Silvaner der Welt! Nun ja, ich kam nicht einmal über die dritte Seite hinaus, da die Kellnerin innerhalb von fünf Minuten dreimal vorbeikam, um zu fragen, was wir trinken wollten. Beim dritten Mal bestellte ich, genervt, acht Gläser anstatt der zwei bis drei Flaschen, die wir eigentlich bestellen wollten und wegen denen wir ja schließlich gekommen waren! Ich kann solches Verhalten zwar verstehen, billige es aber nicht, wenn wir kurz vor Ladenschluss gewesen wären. Wir setzten uns jedoch um 20:00 Uhr hin, und samstags schließt das Restaurant um 23:00 Uhr. Bei der Bestellung wurden unsere Wünsche nicht erklärt, und die Reaktionen waren mehr als nur genervt, um nicht zu sagen unhöflich. Ich glaube, ich habe so etwas noch nie erlebt, vor allem nicht in einem Restaurant, das sich als Maßstab in Würzburg positionieren möchte. Die andere Kellnerin war hingegen äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit und hat den Abend definitiv gerettet. Außerdem war es das einzige Restaurant in sechs Monaten Süddeutschland, in dem wir keine getrennten Rechnungen bekamen. Am Essen gab es nichts auszusetzen, obwohl es preiswert war.

Sehr leckere Küche und urige Einrichtung im Restaurant. Service ist leider noch etwas ausbaufähig, wenn kein teurerer Wein bestellt wird, wird man gefühlt mehr oder weniger ignoriert. Auch die Auswahl alkoholfreier Getränke ist doch sehr 0815, was heutzutage auch nicht mehr sein muss.

Wir haben hier sehr gut gegessen. Hatten no ht reserviert und konnten uns an einer langen Tafel am Tischende dazu setzen. Der Service war ganz zu Anfang ein wenig reserviert, hatte sich dann aber schnell gelegt und war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Der Beilagrnsalat war schon klasse, die Hauptspeise war schnell da und schmeckte sehr gut.

Schöner Abend im Weinhaus Stachel. Lebendige Atmosphäre, gut besucht und einfach ein Restaurant, in dem man sich wohlfühlt. Die Weinkarte hat mir sehr gut gefallen – schöne Auswahl und am Ende stand sogar eine ganze Flasche Großes Gewächs auf dem Tisch. Auch das Essen war überzeugend: Das Tartar sehr gut, das Schnitzel ebenfalls. Insgesamt eine wirklich solide Küche. Der Service war sympathisch. Man merkte, dass eine Mitarbeiterin gerade angelernt wurde und ihr gezeigt wurde, wie man eine Flasche richtig öffnet – aber genau so lernt man es ja. Das Ganze wurde sehr freundlich und entspannt gemacht und hat überhaupt nicht gestört. Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen war nur das Timing: Zwischen Vorspeise und Hauptgang lagen kaum ein paar Minuten. Ein wenig mehr Pause hätte dem Ablauf gutgetan. Insgesamt aber ein sehr schöner Abend. Preislich absolut in Ordnung, gute Küche, tolle Weinauswahl und eine angenehme Atmosphäre.

Auf jeder Ebene eine glatte 5 von 5 Sterne Location. Top Service, wahnsinns Essen und ein wunderschönes Ambiente. Wir waren zum Abendessen hier und hätten ohne Reservierung keinen Platz mehr ergattern können. Zu Recht! Wir waren über die Maße zufrieden und kommen garantiert wieder.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Eine Institution, die ihrem Ruf auch in 2026 mehr als gerecht wird Spontaner Walk-in an einem Samstagmittag als Einzelgast – und tatsächlich ohne größere Wartezeit einen Tisch bekommen (Empfehlung ist aber klar eine Reservierung für dieses Lokal, da gut besucht). Allein das ist in Würzburg an gut frequentierten Tagen nicht selbstverständlich und war bereits ein erster kleiner Pluspunkt. Wurde sofort durch die Servicekräfte registriert und erhielt einen süßen kleinen Zweiertisch (wäre perfekt für ein Date). Das Weinhaus Stachel ist zu Recht eine Institution: urig-fränkisches Ambiente, zugleich stilvoll und gepflegt, mit vielen liebevollen Details. Frische Blumen, Gemälde an den Wänden, Gravuren in den Tischen und der Weinkühlschrank im Eingangsbereich vermitteln sofort das Gefühl, in einem traditionsreichen Haus mit Anspruch zu sein – nicht in einer beliebigen Alltagsgaststätte. Man spürt die gelungene Verbindung aus Tradition und Zeitgeist. Das Lokal wirkt zeitlos, lebendig und nicht museal, die Atmosphäre ist belebt, aber angenehm, Gespräche sind gut möglich. Damit eignet sich der Stachel gleichermaßen für Dates wie auch für Geschäftsessen mit Gästen von außerhalb. Die Weinkarte ist hervorragend kuratiert, mit starkem Fokus auf Frankenwein und spannenden Lagen und Jahrgängen (man kennt sich hier sehr gut aus Referenzen zu Vinum, Falstaff, wein.plus,... etc.). Auch die Speisekarte ist bewusst übersichtlich gehalten – für mich ein klares Qualitätsmerkmal. Klassiker der fränkischen Küche (Schweinebraten, Sauerbraten,...) werden durch eine wechselnde interessante Wochenkarte ergänzt. Meine Auswahl war handwerklich auf sehr hohem Niveau: geschmacklich rund, perfekt abgeschmeckt und sauber gearbeitet. Man merkt deutlich, dass hier Profis in der Küche stehen, die Tradition zeitgemäß interpretieren. Besonders positiv hervorzuheben ist der Service: Trotz eines kleinen und recht jungen Teams wirkte alles ruhig, strukturiert und sehr souverän (top ausgebildet oder Naturtalente oder vielleicht einfach beides). Getränke kamen schnell, die Speisen in angenehmem Zeitrahmen. Kurz nach dem Servieren wurde immer aufmerksam nachgefragt, ob alles passt, leere Gläser wurden sofort bemerkt, Empfehlungen charmant eingebunden (Upsell spielend eingebunden, sehr professionell). Das Servicelevel erinnerte stellenweise eher an Sternegastronomie (war teilweise verwundert in einer fränkischen Gaststätte zu sitzen so gut war der Service stellenweise, kenne das Level nur aus dem Sternebereich mit dem so hohen Fokus und Aufmerksamkeit auf den Gast) – dabei locker, herzlich und unprätentiös. Preislich lag ich bei knapp 60 € für Vorspeise, Hauptgang, Wasser, Espresso und 0,25 l Rotwein aus der Tagesempfehlung – für Qualität, Weinauswahl, Service und Ambiente absolut angemessen. Man zahlt hier für ein rundes Gesamterlebnis mit sehr hoher Qualität, nicht nur für den Namen. Kleiner organisatorischer Hinweis: American Express wird nicht akzeptiert. Bei diesem Niveau vielleicht etwas überraschend, für mich aber kein Beinbruch und kein relevanter Minuspunkt. Ein besonderes Service-Detail am Rande: Mein Handyakku war leer und ich hatte entsprechend ein kleines Problem. Ohne lange Diskussion oder viel Drumherumreden wurde mir unkompliziert geholfen – das Gerät wurde einfach kurz zum Aufladen mitgenommen und mir später wieder gebracht (so machen es die Top Adressen dieser Welt auch). Genau solche Kleinigkeiten bleiben hängen und zeigen, wie ernst hier Service, Kundenbindung und echte Gastfreundschaft genommen werden. Insgesamt ein wirklich sehr stimmiges, mehr als überzeugendes Erlebnis: hochwertige fränkische Küche mit modernem Touch und ein herausragender Service (teilweise klar im Sternebereich von der Aufmerksamkeit und Reaktionszeit her), den man in dieser Form nur selten findet. Für mich eine der besten Adressen in Würzburg im gehobenen Casual-Dining-Bereich – ideal für Dates, Familienfeiern, besondere Abende oder Geschäftsessen, bei denen man Eindruck machen möchte, ohne in formale und zeitintensive Fine-Dining-Schwere zu rutschen.

Wir waren in einer Gruppe von 10 Personen an einem Dienstag dort. Aus der Speisekarte mit fränkischen Spezialitäten gibt es eine Wochenkarte. Der Service war ausgezeichnet, hier ist der Gast noch König. Die Weinauswahl ist ausgezeichnet. Die Preise sind angemessen. Und der Kaiserschmarrn war mein Highlight.

Ich bin der Empfehlung anderer Rezensoren gefolgt und habe einen Tisch reserviert. Die Tischreservierung ist zumindest an Wochenenden sicherlich zu empfehlen. Wir hatten einen Tisch auf einer Empore im Innenhof. Der Innenhof ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und bietet dem Gast die Möglichkeit dem Lärm der Stadt zu entrücken. Ich wählte als Vorspeise eine sehr leckere Kartoffelsuppe, die von der Konsistenz her einem Püree nahekam. Der Hauptspeise, dem Stachel Pfännle, folgte als Dessert eine ebenfalls sehr leckere Creme Brûlée mit frischen Erd- und Himbeeren als Topping. Dem Namen entsprechend wurde natürlich auch eine sehr umfangreiche Weinkarte gereicht. Ein Wort zur Bedienung: Servicekräfte werden im Regelfall nicht besonders gut für die körperlich anstrengende Arbeit entlohnt. Umso mehr beeindruckt es dann, wenn die Bedienung umsichtig, schnell und so ausgesprochen freundlich ist, wie im Restaurant Stachel. Nun kann man natürlich bei einem Restaurant dieser Preisklasse eine hochklassige Bedienung erwarten und dennoch, möchte ich das hier lobend erwähnen. Sollte es mich erneut nach Würzburg verschlagen, wird es hoffentlich einen freien Tisch dort geben.

Wunderschön, gemütlich und originell

Geschichtsträchtiges Haus mit urigem Ambiente. Der Service ist außergewöhnlich gut und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Portionen völlig ausreichend. Die Weinempfehlung zur Ente war perfekt.

Wir waren zu viert zum Abendessen vor Ort. Der Platz im Nebenraum unter dem Kreuzgratgewölbe war klasse. Die Reservierung und das Ankommen waren sehr vielversprechend. Der Kollege war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Leider hatten wir bei der Servicekraft kein Glück. Wir haben uns nicht willkommen gefühlt und der Abschuss traf meinen Kollegen am Schluss bei der Nachfrage, was denn beim Schokobrownie die Überraschung aus der Küche sei. Er wollte keinesfalls Sahne oder irgendetwas mit Zitrone. Der Wunsch nach einer Kugel Vanilleeis wurde kommentiert mit „das ist ja hier kein Wunschkonzert“! Das hat uns die Sprache verschlagen. Da hat jemand grundsätzlich nicht verstanden, auf was es bei der Gastronomie in Service ankommt… Alles in Allem geben wir der Stachel eine zweite Chance, sind aber aufgrund des höheren Preisniveaus und dem schlechten Service etwas zwiegespalten. Forelle, Ente und Grillpfännchen waren geschmacklich solide. Man erwartet sich einfach mehr.

Das fränkische Hochzeitsessen war sehr gut gekocht und richtig lecker. Genau wie die Ente. Toller Wein, sehr guter Service und ein wirklich angenehmes Ambiente.

Wir haben im Anschluss an unsere standesamtliche Hochzeit im Weinhaus Stachel gefeiert und alles war rundum perfekt. Ein Glühweinempfang wurde ohne im wunderschönen Innenhof organisiert, das Essen war sehr lecker und der Service überragend. Die Essen kamen gleichzeitig, auf Kinder wurde pro aktiv eingegangen und alle Gäste waren sehr glücklich.

Wir waren gerade dort zum Abendessen. Der Kabeljau war total verkocht und die Portion im Vergleich zu den anderen Gerichten winzig. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist schlecht und viel zu hoch. Ich bin seit 37 Jahren Koch, und die Qualität der Küche muss sich deutlich verbessern. Ich würde dieses Restaurant nicht empfehlen. Ambiente und Service sind allerdings exzellent. Wir hatten zwei Gläser Wein, eine halbe Literflasche Wasser und zwei Hauptgerichte und zahlten 80 €. Das ist viel zu viel für ein Wiener Gericht und Kabeljau. Die Tische waren zudem sehr einfach gedeckt, nur mit Papierservietten. Kurz gesagt: Wir werden leider nicht wiederkommen.

Wir hatten gestern Abend ein fantastisches, traditionelles deutsches Essen hier. Der Service war tadellos, das Essen köstlich und das Restaurant selbst sehr schön. Meine Frau hat Zöliakie, und es gab eine separate glutenfreie Speisekarte (nur auf Deutsch – die englische Übersetzung findet sich aber auf der Hauptkarte), auf der die Gerichte entsprechend angepasst werden konnten. Das Restaurant ist alt – es wurde ursprünglich im 15. Jahrhundert erbaut. Außerdem ist es nur einen kurzen Spaziergang vom Weihnachtsmarkt entfernt. Es gab auch alkoholfreies Weißbier und Pils auf der Karte, die hervorragend waren. Meine Frau hatte einen köstlichen trockenen Cabernet Dorsa. Sehr empfehlenswert, wenn Sie traditionelle fränkische Gerichte kennenlernen möchten. Und auch preislich absolut in Ordnung.

A lovely restaurant in a historic building. Well worth a visit. We had a very good meal there, and they also have a good Franconian wine.

We've eaten here several times. The food is quite decent. Unfortunately, the way service and friendliness towards guests is practiced has become abysmal, which has led us to stop eating here.

An absolutely outstanding experience at Restaurant & Weinhaus Stachel in Würzburg! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that immediately sets the mood for a delightful evening. The service was excellent from beginning to end – attentive, friendly, and always with a smile. You can tell right away that genuine hospitality is truly practiced here. The food was another highlight: incredibly delicious, fresh, and served very quickly. The side salad was crisp and perfectly seasoned. I was particularly impressed by the Stachel pan-fried dish – rich, aromatic, and superbly prepared. It was accompanied by a mulled wine spritzer, which not only tasted exceptionally good but also perfectly complemented the cozy atmosphere. Overall, the visit was a pleasure on every level. From the service and the quality of the food to the warm and welcoming way guests are treated – everything was just right. I can wholeheartedly recommend it and am already looking forward to my next visit to Stachel. A true Würzburg gem!

The service was very poor. We were outraged that we weren't allowed to take dessert with us. The food was mediocre at best. The only positive aspect was the ambiance of the hall.

The food was absolutely delicious, the white wine soup was phenomenal, the service was friendly, prices were a bit high.

The drinks and service were excellent (the mulled wine spritzer was a great idea). And we were absolutely thrilled with the food!

Today was our first time at this restaurant. I had spontaneously made a reservation online for four people earlier that day. When I realized we would be a little late, I called. The person on the other end of the line was very unfriendly. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we weren't greeted. The waitress who served us didn't seem to know the basics. She forgot several things and mixed up several dishes. It felt like we weren't welcome. The waitress kept checking her watch, as if we were supposed to hurry up. Even during the meal, we were interrupted several times. All in all, the food was okay. It was nicely presented, but nothing I haven't had better elsewhere. Except for the chocolate mousse at the end, which was truly incredible. I know that restaurants have trouble finding suitable service staff. However, I think it's important that they perhaps train their staff better on certain etiquette rules, etc. ... We would come back for the atmosphere, but not necessarily for the food and not at all for the service.

We had a very good meal; everything tasted great, was piping hot, and the service was friendly and attentive. I'm deducting one star because, given the price range, I would have expected more information about the ingredients used (where did the meat come from?). Organic options would also be fantastic!

I had a very pleasant and cozy evening at Stachel. The Franconian Sauerbraten was excellent. I was traveling alone on business and sat in a very quaint little nook. Many thanks to the team!

The food was delicious, the location beautiful, but the service was truly inconsistent: the waitress (perhaps new?!) barely understood us, and she couldn't answer our (simple) questions, such as what the vegan daily special mentioned on the menu was, or which wine was from the region. This caused some unrest at the table. The consommé we ordered was good, but not served hot. Hmm, the supposedly vegan dish, dumplings with edible mushrooms, was almost certainly made with egg and cream, so it wasn't vegan. But we were really annoyed when it came time to pay. With the soup (small, €9) and salad, I asked for some bread. What I received were three slices of standard, pre-baked baguette. We were charged extra for that. Ugh, that's quite cheeky. They should have mentioned it when we ordered. I've never heard of having to pay extra for bread with soup and salad. My polite inquiry before leaving was not adequately addressed: "There's nothing I can do, we have to process it that way, blah blah blah." So we went home feeling quite dissatisfied and wouldn't come back... Conclusion: the biggest problem lies in the service; better product training is recommended.

The historic wine house, dating back to the 12th century, is worth a visit in itself; the food is excellent, but the overall experience is truly special. It's not the cheapest restaurant, but the ambiance, service, and food more than make up for it.

The food and atmosphere were good, but the service was very unfriendly. We felt uncomfortable right from the start and were rushed to pay.

We find it difficult to understand the overwhelmingly positive response to this restaurant, as our visit was unfortunately unsatisfactory. The beef fillet tartare, in our opinion, was not refined with a "homemade tartare sauce," but rather heavily seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, making it a disappointing taste. We found the roast rump steak with onions (hardly medium-rare anymore, by the way) to be tough and distinctly bland. The fried potatoes were also soft, lukewarm, and not crispy. The Wiener schnitzel was okay, but some of the potatoes in the potato salad had more bite than we would have liked. A serious service error occurred when the server accidentally mixed different wines when refilling our glass – despite our clear and timely warning that the wrong wine was being used. While they apologized, they declined to replace the glass with a new glass of "pure" wine or to adjust the price. We decided not to complain about the food because we didn't expect the replacement dishes to be more satisfying to our taste. Overall, very disappointing.

Updated post… We visited on Saturday evening – unfortunately, it was disappointing compared to previous visits. Our table was in the middle of the room, and the service seemed rushed and unattentive. When we asked about the preparation of a dish, we were met with a simple "Well, how else is it supposed to be prepared?" – charming is a different story. You felt more lectured than welcomed. Overall, you had the feeling you were supposed to leave quickly because the table was already being set for the next reservation. It's a shame – we would have liked to have ordered another glass of wine or another glass with the meal. You could have easily ripped us off more if you weren't so fixated on your table turns. My son's spaetzle were unfortunately overcooked and watery. Apparently, there was no espresso available – even though espressos were served in the next room. This also made dessert (a planned affogato) unnecessary. The steak tartare was rather small for the price, but tasted good. We had a wonderful evening with friends, the food and service were very good.

First of all, a great restaurant with a very nice ambiance. Unfortunately, we had bad luck all around yesterday. Of the four meals, three were a disappointment. We had three "Spitzen-Pfälzer" (sirloin steaks), and the loin was extremely tough, overcooked, and dry on all plates because it was pre-cooked and then briefly pan-fried again to heat it up. As a result, it was completely dry... After a complaint, four loins were returned, but the pan-fried loins remained with the guest. After about seven minutes, three more loins were served instead of four, and only one small loin was perfect, while the others were raw in the middle... After another complaint, the fourth loin arrived, and we had already finished our meal, and it was also raw in the middle... Sorry, that's unacceptable. Any housewife could do better, and we were very disappointed with the food. And consider the high price range! The restaurant manager tried hard and brought dessert, but we had to pay the full price for all four meals. In a restaurant like Stachel, I expect at least a discount or another invitation to convince you that you can do better!

Excellent service (5⭐️) and exceptionally generous portions! The menu is clearly structured and offers a diverse selection, including plenty for vegans and vegetarians. I particularly liked the cozy, rustic interior, which immediately creates a welcoming atmosphere. The quality of the food was consistently very good, even if the dumplings didn't quite suit my taste. Overall, though, it was a thoroughly positive experience that I would happily recommend!

First of all, I highly recommend everyone to reserve a table. The small effort is worth it, though. From the welcome to the dessert, you'll be pampered. The small menu offers more than enough local dishes, and the daily specials offer even more variety. Everything was perfect, from the starter soup to the main course and dessert, which was also a "little" highlight. I wish every good restaurant had a "mini portion of dessert with espresso" in case you're out of things to eat. It was, of course, significantly smaller than the regular portion, but just perfect when you're already full. For us, the best restaurant in Würzburg

How beautiful it is here! Good food, beautifully presented, served by a nimble waitress who doesn't forget that she's serving the customer. A wine list featuring excellent Franconian wines (and where you'll even receive such spontaneous praise from the waiter for your own choice that it's not fake). No, it's a delight to go here and dine. A cheese platter, whose cheeses aren't freshly cold from the fridge, with a fine dessert wine (Wygwam!) rounds off the visit. It's est est!

A particularly traditional restaurant in a central yet quiet location in downtown Würzburg with a wonderful courtyard. After a disappointing experience the previous evening (despite an outdoor reservation, they only served indoors), the following evening's outdoor ambiance made up for it. Without a reservation, we were still lucky enough to get a table after a bit of a wait. The very attentive service offered us a complimentary sparkling wine while we waited. The selection of dishes was very good, regional, fresh, and of impeccable quality. A very harmonious and extensive wine selection rounded out the offerings. We were very satisfied with our visit. Reservations are highly recommended and important to note: all guests are either indoors or outdoors. Be sure to take this into account when making a reservation and check with the restaurant regarding fluctuating weather, and call the restaurant to be on the safe side.

Very poor service from our female waitress. Had to pay 5 euros extra to get potatoes for the tartare instead of bread because of gluten. A tartare for 32+5 euros is a rip-off, especially when they lie in the menu that it is hand-cut. They must have run it with a hand blender or a blender, because it is a puree. And who would even think of serving sambal olek with a steak tartare and writing in the menu that the tartare sauce is homemade. We also had the schnitzel and it was absolutely no better here than anywhere else where it costs 20 euros instead of 32. My best tip is to go somewhere else where the price in relation to the ingredients and preparation is more reasonable.

The food was truly delicious, but unfortunately, the service was extremely poor. We arrived five minutes before our reservation, but our table wasn't available yet, and we were sent back out onto the street (it was pouring with rain). When we returned five minutes later, wet, our table was free, but incompletely set. No glasses, no cutlery, which the waiter didn't notice. It's also difficult to make yourself noticed when people are stubbornly looking straight ahead or at the floor. We ended up fetching glasses and cutlery from the empty table next to us. Unfortunately, throughout the entire evening, reordered drinks were repeatedly forgotten or incorrect ones brought. The main course was served while we were still eating the appetizer and then simply placed on the table with it. Both plates were then cleared away 20 minutes after we had finished our meals. The ambiance in the dining room was okay, but unfortunately, we couldn't sit in the courtyard due to the weather. I wouldn't come back.

The place is very cozy and has a lot of wine options. I ordered a hand cut beef tartar with home made tartar sauce for 31 euro. However, it was nothing more then fine minced meat and sambal olek. In Sweden this would be a 9 euro dish. When I asked the waiter about what was on the plate, she lied directly to my face. I have eaten over 100 beef tartar, so I know. So utterly disappointed by this place. Choose something else when in wurzburg.

We had ordered the menu of our choice and also indicated a food intolerance. Accordingly, we were completely clueless about what to expect. It was: a quaint spot in a niche, a great meal, with everything catered to the intolerance, good wine, and, last but not least, very attentive service, who clearly enjoyed not revealing what we would be eating too early. An all-around wonderful evening – many thanks to the Stachel team!
