Good food, very friendly service. Only the gentleman responsible for the reservation is very unfriendly. We ordered a table for a family celebration 4 months ago. We had to sit at 2 separate tables even though it was possible to sit together. We will definitely not be celebrating our next family celebration in May 2025 in the Old Kranen.

Very nice cozy restaurant. We had previously reserved a table for 7 p.m. The Franconian bratwurst and roast pork tasted very tasty, as did the accompanying Mönchshofer Kellerbier. The service was very friendly and attentive. Fantastic view outside of the Main, the fortress and the Main Bridge!

Large beer garden in the immediate vicinity of the Main. We were there with a group. You had barely ordered before the food was there. Often you wait too long, but here it was the other way around. It happened way too fast. Apparently they rely on short dwell times. The food was at a good canteen level. Nothing more, nothing less.

Very good food, everyone will find something for themselves

We often come to this nice and cozy restaurant and have already tried many dishes. Pork beards, sauerbraten and Schäufele were always very good, the soups were skillful, but the Kranenschnitzel was seasoned a little too blandly, which can be corrected at the table. The service is absolutely friendly and there is nothing to complain about in terms of price. You can't ask for more for this location, quality and service. We'll definitely be back soon.

Delicious food and quick service

Late in the evening we were still hungry. Off to the restaurant we would receive a very warm and friendly welcome. The drinks were in front of you in no time. Eating also happened very quickly. Good large portions and good taste too.

Beautiful atmosphere with a beer garden. Upscale food that has legitimately higher prices. Service courteous and pleasant. It should be reserved in advance. There are vegetarian dishes, but also Franconian dishes for large and small appetites. There is a paid parking space under the restaurant.

We had reserved a table and were warmly welcomed and escorted to our place. The food was very tasty and the staff was very friendly. The knuckle is highly recommended, as the rind was also very crispy and tasted perfect. Furthermore, the ambience right next to the Main was of course also very nice. Definitely recommended and happy to come again.

Very tasty, large portions The schnitzel with fries was great, schnitzel crispy, fries crunchy Roast pork with potato dumplings, I'm not a fan of potato dumplings but this one was so good!!! Our service was very friendly and professional. All in all, we will come there again and enjoy the food in a wonderful, authentic, atmosphere.

The beer garden is in a great location and very inviting. The beer comes to the table in no time and tastes good. We were satisfied with the food, but I also ate better in Würzburg. The sauce for the Schäufele didn't have the right consistency and the Schäufele was a bit better elsewhere. We found the self-service part of the beer garden catastrophic: there were only young and inexperienced employees who, to be honest, had little idea of ​​what they were supposed to be doing...

Not again so soon. Service was unfriendly and food was simply not good for the price. No more mass processing. My meat was overcooked, hard and almost black, and the sauce had already formed a skin when I served it. We mentioned this to service and a simple “hm ok” was received. I don't expect a discount or anything, but a "sorry, I'll pass it on to the kitchen" or a coffee on the house wouldn't have hurt anyone.

When in Würzburg than tasting typical German delicacies in this restaurant is a must! Personell always near to help and compete your order if wanted. Cozy as well as a place with a terrace with a wonderful view and/or feeling of being near the river and beautiful downtown. The bridge is very near, and you should not miss a walk on the bridge as well as a glass of local wine while strolling. Food tastes delicious and I recommend this restaurant. 😋

If in Rome...exactly. Our first time in Würzburg and we wanted to taste and enjoy local cuisine. Very nice staff and fast operation and service. We really enjoyed our choice: roast pork, pork schnitzel and apple fritters. If we had been there longer we would have gone a second time. I also found the prices very reasonable and the location was also very nice.

Food was good, price/performance and ambience too, we would have liked to have stayed longer. But we, two people, were seated at a large table on the wall that served as a bench at 6 p.m., despite making a prior reservation and being told there would be no problem and free choice. During our entire stay, which was shorter than planned due to the uncomfortable seating, there were both tables for 2 and 4 available on the terrace! It's a shame, so the location was changed after dinner.

The Alter Kranen restaurant is located directly on the Mainkai near the stone bridge. Rustically furnished inside and with a cozy beer garden outside, the restaurant offers a delicious selection of Franconian specialties and an extensive range of drinks. We have rarely eaten such a delicious dark beer sauce with Schäufele. The staff were friendly and quick and the price/performance ratio was right during our visit.

(It takes less than 20 minutes from ordering to serving food.) +Food was all very tasty. -Unfortunately there are a lot of wasps outside. -Unfortunately, Wiener Schnitzel was hardly or not at all flattened, so it's not really a "real" Wiener Schnitzel.

Went there on Thursday to eat Schäufele, which we often do when we're in the area. This time it was Schäufele, almost inedible, dry, hard, almost impossible to chew. It was definitely warmed up. The waitress was very friendly when I told her. From now on we will eat our Schäufele somewhere else. A pity.

I have eaten here more than 5 times. The food is always good. But I don't know whether I'll come back or not. The waitress is very friendly but the waiter with glasses is unfriendly, that was such bad service. A good restaurant is not just about food, service is also important.

Well located with good food. BBQ burger was excellent but expensive at 19 euros. Unfortunately it was also very crowded and hectic. It wasn't as airy in the covered outdoor area and only a few tables had a view of the river. We sat down next to the eponymous crane. You can't see anything of the surroundings under the trees, but it was more relaxed. Can you do...

The Alte Kranen impresses with its food, service and an excellent location on the Main. The Franconian specialties are worth a visit, especially for guests from outside who would like to try them. My personal recommendation is the Franconian Schäufele with a freshly tapped Würzburger Hofbräu from a wooden barrel.

A very nice brewery inn in an excellent location

I've eaten there a few times during training courses that often take place in Würzburg and I'm always thrilled with this place. Great food, delivered to guests super quickly and your lemonades are awesome. Today I was in the city with our trainees and I was also able to inspire them with Alter Kranen. All of your service staff are great. Keep it up, we from Schleswig-Holstein would love to come back.

Delicious, simple and sociable. We sat at a large table in the courtyard (8 people). Which was perfect on a warm evening. The service was very friendly and there often, so no one was dying of thirst and many ended the evening with a dessert. I found the food very tasty (had chicken strips) and my portion was very generous. Everyone liked the burger too, three people at the table ordered it. We had a discussion about the portioning of the vegetarian cheese spaetzle, which four people ordered. The men found the portion "too small", the women tended to think it was "too large" 🤣. However, everyone found the spaetzle very tasty. I think the price-performance ratio is very good.

This is a restaurant in Wurzburg. There doesn't seem to be any sense of oppression. You can taste Wurzburg’s unique draft beer. The mashed potatoes and steak are delicious and the portions are quite large.

Everything was tip top, from the service to the friendliness and the delicious food. Location is great anyway. We came here spontaneously because we were staying with the motorhome opposite the Main for one night. Glad to have landed here. We would love to come back 😊

The first time in Würzburg and then on recommendation in the “Alter Kranen”. What can I say, the food is great (super tender pork knuckles, a burger the size of a child's head), many beer options, and a very attentive, friendly staff. Be careful of the local pomace, even hard-drinking Eastern Europeans shy away from it 😄. Absolute recommendation from here.

All around terrific. It starts with the sensitive usher, continues with a friendly, attentive but not intrusive waiter and is rounded off with an excellent performance from the kitchen. We had knuckle and schnitzel with appropriate side dishes. Everything was prepared perfectly. Add to that the great view over the Main and the castle, and the whole thing becomes a very special experience.

The location is brilliant, right on the Main!! Very tasty food! Service was also great. We got a table for 6 people outside without a reservation. The only negative point is that we waited 45 minutes for our food.

I ordered a Schäufle there, the first one I had to send back, the meat was so dry that when I hit it with the knife it sounded like I was hitting an old piece of cardboard, the second one worked halfway. Unfortunately I can't understand the good reviews about the food.
