A wonderful experience, a great location on the Main River, and a good meal with a pleasant atmosphere and fast, polite service. Thank you very much.

We visited the brewery on October 31st with two families and children. Positive aspects (food and logistics): The quality of the beer and food was very good, and the orders were delivered to the table extremely quickly. Major criticisms (service and atmosphere): We had made a reservation online a week in advance, but we overlooked the fact that the booking was limited to two hours. This was only pointed out to us very abruptly when we were in the middle of our meal. Time pressure and hectic pace: Throughout the entire visit, we felt like we were on an assembly line, forced to eat, drink, and clear the table quickly. Premature dismissal: After only 1.5 hours, we were told that we had to be finished soon. At that point, I hadn't even finished my main course and hadn't been able to try all the beers, which is a real shame for a brewery. Administrator's conduct: The administrator, Mr. Andrej Danneker (if that's the correct name), was unprofessional and rude in this situation. The tone of the service was inappropriate and contributed significantly to the negative experience. Unnecessary rush: It was particularly annoying that three or four large tables were free in the immediate vicinity during this rush, making the time pressure seem completely unnecessary. Conclusion: Although the food and drinks were excellent, the excessive time pressure and rude service ruined the visit. When dining out, one wants to enjoy a relaxed meal and not feel pressured to leave as quickly as possible. Under these circumstances, we cannot recommend this brewery.

The food was good, but the sauce was too strong (I usually really like that). I had the venison goulash, and the sauce became too strong with every bite. In the end, I stopped eating it because I felt sick. The meat was still incredibly tender, but for the price, I expected a bit more.

We spontaneously went to this restaurant with colleagues during a conference. We didn't have a reservation, but we were greeted very warmly and given a table. The food and drinks arrived quickly and were delicious. The portions were generously sized, and you definitely left satisfied. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We would gladly return on our next visit to Würzburg.

We went there for lunch. Most of the tables were empty. Nevertheless, we and other guests were all crammed into one section of the large dining room. You couldn't really sit comfortably because you kept bumping into chairs from the next table. Incomprehensible, since so many tables were free. The food... well, that's certainly a matter of taste. There were no salt and pepper shakers on the table.

A fantastic restaurant with excellent service 👍 The food was delicious and plentiful. If it hadn't rained, we could have enjoyed the stunning view and admired the castle right on the Main River while we ate. Very child-friendly. Keep up the great work, team! My first time in Würzburg, and then on a recommendation, I went to the "Alter Kranen." What can I say? The food was fantastic (super tender pork knuckle, hefty burgers), there were many different beers, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Beware of the local pomace brandy; even seasoned drinkers shy away from it 😄. Highly recommended!

The food was very good, and the service was extremely friendly. I'm deducting one star because we actually wanted to stay longer. Unfortunately, no one informed us when we made the reservation that the table was only available for 1.5 hours.

First, the positives: The beer was delicious, the service was very friendly, and the kitchen was fast. The fast service brings me to the negatives: Definitely chain restaurant fare. Open the pouch, heat it up, and you're done. Anything but special. I wouldn't eat here again.

The pork shoulder was very good, and the portion size was good. The tables were very close together, making it difficult to leave one's seat; in some places, there was only 15 cm of space between them.

Great inn in a fantastic location. From service to the arrival of our food and drinks, it took less than 10 minutes. I had the sliced ​​meat with Spätzle. It tasted amazing and the price was excellent. We'll definitely be back when we're in Würzburg again. 5/5

A very delicious meal: roast pork with crackling and sauerbraten, two dumplings, and a generous helping of red cabbage or coleslaw. The small salad beforehand was no problem either, even with extra dressing.

Location, ambience, food (Schäufele) and the very friendly staff - all top-notch.

They have a very nice outdoor patio with views of the river. The soup was a bit salty and the portion is large. I ordered the haxn. Meat was tender and tasty but I was really looking forward to the crispy skin but it was not crispy at all. There is a parking garage underneath. After eating that big meal you can take a stroll by the river. I will be back if I am ever in the area. Indoor seating is also very elegant.

A very nice inn with excellent food. The shoulder of pork was superb, and the beer is top-notch. If you arrive early, you'll even get your beer from a wooden barrel.

I give it the highest marks! Traditional and "natural," a brewery inn that deserves its name and lives up to its reputation, and wouldn't want anything less! It's been brilliantly executed and perfectly executed! I'd love to come back! 😊👍🏻

We were very satisfied with the food, the service, and the ambiance. We went there twice during our stay in Würzburg. Highly recommended.

Despite a full restaurant, the service was quick, friendly and courteous.

There were five of us. We had four dishes of knuckle of pork with dumplings in a dark beer sauce and one of spinach dumplings with vegetables. Everything was delicious. The portions were generous, and we were stuffed and happy. We haven't eaten this well and this inexpensively in a long time. The service was very polite, and the food arrived very quickly.

The dining room is beautifully rustic with cranes throughout, worth seeing and cozy, and the terrace with a view of the fortress is very beautiful, with a great location. Service was excellent, with a super friendly, attentive waiter, even though the restaurant was packed that evening. Many hearty local dishes, including vegetarian options. The shoulder of pork was good, and the spinach dumplings with vegetables were good, though they could have used a bit more seasoning for my personal taste. A successful evening in a lovely restaurant.

Well, I rarely leave food behind, but unfortunately the Wiener Schnitzel was really badly prepared and the fries were old and everything was way too greasy.

Great, rustic restaurant with a large outdoor terrace and a separate beer garden. The food was absolutely delicious; for me personally, the Schäufele (sausage roll) is a must. The service is very friendly and accommodating, and the location on the Main River is very inviting.

Affordable, delicious, generous portions. Travel insurance is mandatory, even during the week.

We arrived that day after driving 900 km and we didn't have a reservation. A friend recommended the place. Although it was full and it would have been a long time to make a reservation, the coordinator was very helpful, we quickly got drinks and after 15 minutes we ordered. It is in a beautiful location, on the riverbank and under a castle.

We would have loved to stop here. Unfortunately, the whole city is very busy, and this restaurant probably is too. However, we weren't even noticed; we were completely ignored. They could at least say hello and give some information instead of leaving customers standing stupidly at the entrance.

A fantastic brewery right on the Main River with excellent food, delicious beer, and a great atmosphere. The center of Würzburg is within walking distance. Always happy to come back!

We always enjoy coming here regularly. The food is always delicious, the beer is delicious, and the atmosphere is lovely. Especially when the terrace is open in summer. The staff is always very friendly, and they take good care of you. We feel very comfortable and always enjoy coming back!

A very nice restaurant with typical Franconian cuisine, plenty of space... with tables inside and outside next to the Main river. The food was good, the service very friendly and attentive, the restrooms clean, and parking is right next door in the underground garage. Everything was perfect!!! Highly recommended!!!

Once again, a spontaneous perfect landing. Very good value for money, tasty food, friendly service (could be a bit more attentive, perhaps), very nice beer garden, nice interior! We had the Kranen schnitzel, the Franconian sausages with sauerkraut, a side salad (warning for allergy sufferers: contains sunflower seeds), Coke, and fruit schnapps.

We were there with three adults, three children, and two dogs, and we had a wonderful time! We were assigned a suitable table outside in the beautiful weather; we were delighted to be able to sit down as a large family in such a spontaneous setting on a Saturday! The service was very attentive, prompt, and accommodating to all our requests. The food was excellent and very extensive – even for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. One of the best restaurants in Würzburg!

Great beer garden with a lovely terrace, friendly and fast service, and good food and beer. I especially like the fact that you can also make reservations for the outdoor area. We passed by on our way from Hamburg to Austria and had a lovely table on the terrace on a sunny Saturday in August, with no wait.

The food is fresh, plentiful (with generous portions), and good value for money. I'd be happy to come back and highly recommend it.

The food was typical of mass-produced food. It's okay, but the quality isn't much better than cafeteria food. Unfortunately, the service was also typical of mass-produced food, as no one was particularly friendly. The main thing is to get the guests served quickly and then leave quickly so the next guests can come. We had barely finished the main course and just barely finished dessert (everyone still had drinks and ordered correctly) when we were more or less kicked out. The beer is, of course, delicious. But that's not really the point. One of the many places that thrive on its location and tourism without having to do much for it.

We actually only wanted dessert at the Alte Kranen, as the menu seemed very appealing. Unfortunately, our first attempt was disappointing: We were standing visibly in the entrance area, and four different waiters walked past us several times without even looking at us, let alone asking if they could help us. After a while, we left. The next evening, we tried again – this time, at least, we were approached directly. However, when we replied that we would like dessert, we were met with a "Yes, but hurry, the kitchen is closing soon." We were seated at an uncovered table, even though there were many covered tables available. Our request to change seats due to a cold draft was ignored – the windows were closed, but rather reluctantly. Unfortunately, there were no napkins at our table either, as it wasn't set. On the positive side, the dessert arrived very quickly and tasted really good. Nevertheless, the service on both evenings was so inattentive and uninviting that we felt unwelcome. Conclusion: Good food, but unfortunately, the service was so poor that we wouldn't return.

The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The standard dishes we chose (roast pork, schnitzel) were of very good quality. The dinner was also very good. The prices were absolutely fair.

Franconia means beautiful scenery, great beer, and good food! This beer garden embodies them all. Typical dishes like crispy pork shoulder or pork knuckle are the local specialties, best washed down with excellent cold draft beer! There are also lighter options like the charcuterie board and the ever-present obazder, a thick cream cheese spread on black bread. For the health-conscious, there are also salads and soups. The atmosphere is very pleasant, with well-spaced tables both inside and outside, but it's best to book ahead to secure a spot near the river. The waiters are excellent, always available to help you choose your dishes and throughout your stay; they're attentive and never pushy. They speak a little Italian, Spanish, and always English.

The service was unfortunately the lowest point right from the start: unfriendly, no greeting, zero attention. The children's menu was particularly absurd – it even had a special checklist (drink, main course, ice cream), but the waitress completely ignored it. After the adults' drinks, she simply said dryly, "Oh, I'm not going to look at that. You have to tell me." So why all the effort with a paper children's menu if no one cares anyway? 🙄 Positive: The portions are large, the beer sauce was excellent, and the pork knuckle was at least decent. All in all, though, it was more of an average meal – and the service, unfortunately, makes the visit not really worth recommending.

You almost get the feeling the waitresses here were forced to serve as punishment—so unfriendly, taciturn, and completely unaccommodating. No greeting, no smile, more of an aura of "I hate people." The food? Mediocre. Generous portions, though. The beer sauce, however, was a real highlight—probably the only thing made with love here. So, a thumbs up for the food, and two thumbs down for the service. The wasps just top it off.

What a fantastic place! We were on our way to Austria and were disappointed we couldn't stay longer in Würzburg to eat here more often. Beautiful location, delicious food, and the service was incredibly friendly. I'm pregnant, and they were incredibly considerate and accommodating, which is something you rarely see.

A typical Bavarian chain restaurant with a rustic ambiance on a sunny terrace overlooking the Rhine. The pork knuckles were good but not exceptional. The spaetzle and dumplings, unfortunately, weren't homemade. The Keiler beer and iced tea were very good.
