Very tasty restaurant with great prices

We reserved a table in front of it. After waiting at the table for an hour, we were asked for our order. The burger was very dry and hard. After the first bite everything fell apart. Not recommended anymore. The service people constantly ignored us.

Six of us had dinner last night and had a very good experience overall. The highlight of the evening was less the food, but clearly our service! She was funny, warm and made our evening sweeter with her friendly manner. A small mishap with the Baileys was treated with humor by everyone, which made the atmosphere even more relaxed. The service was really great, even if it took a little longer for the cyclist - but the beer came very quickly. The food tasted good and we were also satisfied. Thank you for the fun evening and the great service – we’ll be happy to come back!

It's ok, big restaurant, Franconian cuisine, a bit loud. Ideal for large groups and casual Schäufele dinners. We'll be back for a casual evening with kids.

We were given a table with the advice that we would please not have more than 90 minutes. No problem. Service friendly and quick. With our drink order we also wanted to order food, whereupon the waiter said we would make drinks first. Drinks came quickly and after ordering the food, it felt like it took less than a minute until cheese spaetzle and spinach dumplings with carrot and kohlrabi vegetables and side salads were on the table. Fresh is definitely different. Everything overcooked, mushy, soggy. Unfortunately our expectations were not met. But we were out again quickly.

Enjoyed Franconian cuisine again today. The restaurant was packed, just reserve a table in advance! The service was very attentive and quick. There was nothing to complain about about the food, great value for money! We'll definitely be back!

The portions are mega, the price is very reasonable, rather cheap for this quality!!! The service was on point and the food didn't take long to arrive!!! For us another “must go” for Würzburg!!!!!

Unfortunately, the quality of the food doesn't match the beautiful ambience. Schäufele was dry, red cabbage was completely overcooked and there was sauce from Maggi with it.

After dinner we stopped by the Alten Kranen for a beer 🍺 and were served politely. Next time we'll go there for dinner too. Keep it up.

We were there for dinner with a group, I would like to say it was a nice evening in the community. The food itself was okay and three stars are enough for okay. I had half a duck with red cabbage and dumplings. It tastes pretty good, I would say, well-cooked or fried.

Delicious food, good beer, cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, we were sitting at a row of tables that were close to others and were therefore very "on the nerves" of the guests around us, which was a bit detrimental to our relaxation

Traditional Würzburg restaurant with good, down-to-earth food and friendly service. The restaurant is very large and therefore quite loud when it is full (which is the rule on weekends!). Reservation makes sense.

Great service, friendly and accommodating. We had Schäuferle which tasted very good. Unfortunately everything was lukewarm, even though there were almost no guests there.

The service is very friendly and attentive and the food was damn tasty 😋 We had Kaiserschmarrn with almonds for the first time and it went perfectly with it. The portion was exactly for 2 people and was prepared and served in an iron pan. Would come again and again!

Unfortunately, I have never eaten such bad Kaiserschmarrn before. Roast pork was OK but dumplings were not good. The location is nice and the location is good.

The food is always very tasty, the service could be a little better (more time for customers, asking if everything is still ok).

We stopped by this great restaurant by chance. Even though there were a lot of reservations, we still got a really nice table. The waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. The food came very quickly and was gone just as quickly because it was simply top class. The portions were also quite large so that everyone would be full. Thank you!

Nice atmosphere and delicious food

Hello I like to eat Schäufele but what's on the plate... has nothing to do with Schäufele at all... Meat very hard and chewy... Also no seasoning on the meat or sauce... not to mention the service... unfriendly and you have to beg for every drink... And the inn was only half full... no question for me... no one can get me here anymore...

Easy reservation, nice location, good service, delicious food and drinks, reasonable prices... and the dog 🐕 was allowed with us too.

There was a separate lunch menu. When I ordered haxen and schnitzel from the lunch menu, they recommended the original schnitzel. The recommendation was good~^^

The overall package fits and dogs are also welcome.

A good decision if you are in Würzburg and are looking for something special on the Main. The attentive and friendly staff take care of your physical well-being in an exemplary manner. Good regional cuisine was what I wanted and I got my money's worth with Schaufele, as I also experienced at the next table. A year later I can only confirm the good impression from the first visit!

The food was good and served quickly.

My compliments for perfect performance in all areas. Food, service, ambience simply great. I almost didn't go in because the prices on the outside display seemed too high. Once inside, we quickly discovered that the Franconian roast pork was great and cost a fair 15 euros. So we'd love to come back. In summer, the romantic terrace directly on the Main with a view of the Würzburg Residence is definitely a hit.

Great location, delicious food (you're happy to wait) because the beer is so incredibly delicious 🍻 and can we please talk about the cider soup? BOA awesome mega 🤩🤩🤩 The only drawback for us: toilets on our evening could have been improved.

Really bad Kaiserschmarrn. It wasn't possible without raisins, so it wasn't fresh, which is what you tasted. Not enough service staff, we had to wait a long time, I actually wanted something but after 20 minutes I didn't feel like waiting anymore.

Very tasty food at good prices, good service

Beer garden located directly on the Main that impresses with its size. A slightly better view of the Main would be desirable (small hedge trimming). The drinks are delicious, the food tastes good, but very expensive. For example, €12 for 2 white sausages and 1 pretzel is almost outrageous, even if prices have generally increased. But a single pretzel there costs €1.50, so I pay more than €10 for 2 small white sausages... Service is great. Recommendation, with one “but”.

Nice beer garden, be sure to reserve

Despite the high volume of people, everything was well organized and the food was on the table within 15 minutes. The service staff were super nice and had everything under control.

The food was delicious but given the very nice gastronomy, one or two dishes could have been prepared a little more appetizingly 4 out of 5. We sat outside and felt very comfortable. Regarding the service, the waiters were nice and quick, but the usher basically ruined half of our day. We had reserved a table long in advance for a 70th birthday and a dozen people. We were then split up and couldn't eat together, even though there was a very simple solution despite reservations. However, the person assigning us seats became very unfriendly and, in a very inappropriate tone, refused to allow us to move to another table so that we didn't have to sit with our backs to each other. Very unfriendly and disorganized. But hopefully it was an isolated personal case.

We spontaneously went to the Altes Kranen for our wedding anniversary after our actual reservation could unfortunately not be maintained elsewhere. My companion spontaneously remembered that we had wanted to eat there for a long time. I've already celebrated my birthday here (2019), applied to work behind the bar (2015) and have done so countless times (including tapping beer kegs) at the Old Kranen. It's simply an institution in Würzburg. The service is simply bomb! Here you can tell that the owner (and of course every single service person) attaches great importance to the fact that everything is always 110% - you rarely have this feeling in the restaurant. But I also assume that there are still training dates like the “cocktail course” that I was able to experience in 2015. We were greeted within a few seconds of arriving at the beer garden and were able to be assigned a table (the beer garden was packed). My companion dropped a knife, which was immediately picked up and told to take a new one - it's these "little" things that make a service simply great. Yesterday the ambience was once again wonderful, sitting under this green "roof" made of plants. And when the lighting comes on, everything looks even more dreamlike. From some places you can definitely see the Main and the fortress - but as a "local" I've never paid attention to it here. Unfortunately, our meal (crane schnitzel and sliced ​​meat) wasn't so good yesterday. However, yesterday, after donating blood, I had already eaten something immediately beforehand. Then maybe it was Just too much :D But neither my companion nor I really liked the chicken in the sliced ​​meat. All in all, I will definitely come back!
