Hofbräugarten in Würzburg

Unfortunately, the food was cold. Once, never again.

We had made a reservation in advance, were there with a group of 30 people, and had a private room. The service was excellent; we were always able to order promptly. The food was also delicious and arrived very quickly, even for such a large group.

Went there for dinner yesterday, spontaneously, not the first time. Unfortunately, it seemed like an even worse day than usual. The food, from the soups to the main course, was lukewarm - cold! The dumplings were very watery on the outside and hard in the middle, as if they had been in water for too long, cooled down and then reheated - and we wondered why so many went back - we got the answer after we got ours. The sauce was cold, and there was very little and relatively tasteless. The festive soup tasted like ready-made products for €7.90 - not acceptable. Of course, I informed the extremely nice waiter about this - his reply: "I've heard several times today that the food is cold" - he passed it on to the kitchen.... There's nothing to complain about the ambience or the staff - but the food is just not good. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, then this is not the place for you - it's very noisy inside.

I was a regular here long before the beer garden was renovated – with family, friends, colleagues, often several times a month. Just yesterday, I was here with friends and quite naturally tipped a friendly young waitress €2. But what I experienced today was simply disappointing and disrespectful. An extremely unfriendly waiter deliberately addressed me in English, even though I spoke clear German – apparently assuming I was a tourist and could be deceived. As soon as I ordered, I was told I had to add a €1 tip. I've never experienced anything like this in all my eight years in Germany. The two beers were placed on the table without a word, without asking who they were for – and the waiter just walked on. No greeting, no eye contact, no courtesy. I'm happy to tip if the service is good – but this behavior was a disgrace. This is not how you treat regulars. This is not how you treat guests at all. We consciously didn't seek conflict at that moment—our children were there, and both my husband and I place great importance on good manners. But inside, I was stunned. And what hurt me most: I felt like I was treated differently because of my appearance or my background—despite communicating clearly in German. A form of silent but tangible discrimination that should have no place in our society. I won't be coming back—and I won't recommend this place to anyone. I'm not a Chinese person, I'm not a Chinese person.

It was a wonderful evening in the beer garden, good food, and above all a great service from Mr. Lüfte, good service, very good entertainment, simply very pleasant

We were there for lunch today. The service and location were great, and of course the food was too. We'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. The service was inattentive and disorganized – we had to wait a very long time to order our food. Since there were obviously enough waiters on site, we didn't understand why. The dishes themselves were rather mediocre in taste. The value for money was particularly disappointing – clearly too expensive for the quality. The interior is inviting. It's a shame; we expected more. We probably won't be back again.

Unfortunately, the waiter treated me very disrespectfully. I didn't feel welcome. The menu wasn't suitable for me - they could explore what works better with the individual components. (Perhaps a dish that combines a bratwurst or a steak with cheese spaetzle.) Perhaps add meat to the additional side dish section and make possible adjustments more transparent. The iced tea and the tarte flambée were great; it would also be cool to offer cocktails and create them myself. After this experience, I will unfortunately not be a guest in the future, but I wish you continued success and hope something like this doesn't happen again.

Very tasty German food! Everything was deliciously prepared, and the Brathändle (a German sausage) in particular blew us away. The service could have been a bit faster, but the staff were pleasant and friendly. The interior is very inviting and appropriately decorated. All in all, a very nice Hofbräu with delicious food and a wide selection of good beers.

We were in the self-service area and had our food with us. It was a cozy, warm summer evening with friends and good conversation.

We stopped by on a trip, so it was a shame we couldn't order more of the delicious beer. We would have loved to eat our way through the menu. But the fried chicken and bratwurst were also convincing, although the potato and cucumber salad tasted okay, albeit with a slightly soggy texture. All in all: a nice place, fair prices, friendly service. We'd love to come back and try more of the truly extensive selection.

Everything was perfect. The beer garden is beautiful, with lots of trees and a playground for the kids. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

Everything's great! But €4.90 for a beer that comes straight from the pipeline from the lager? Guys, you shouldn't be so greedy. There are no shipping costs, etc. They could tweak that a bit. Otherwise, the food and service are top-notch. No offense, just a tip.♡

Dear Hofbräu team! We were with you on Tuesday after a funeral service. About 60 people in the Keilerstube. Marina once again served us very competently. A wonderful waitress. A beer garden as you'd imagine it, shaded by mature trees, spaciously laid out, and traditionally furnished. There's also a secure area where children can play safely. The service was good; you might have to expect a bit of a wait depending on the occupancy. The food was very wholesome and quite satisfying. It could have been a bit warmer for me—but that's a matter of taste, as we all know.

The first impression: wow! The location is a real highlight. The lovingly designed beer garden invites you to linger, the interior dining area is stylish, charming, and furnished with a great eye for detail. A real investment has been made here – at least in the visual aspect. All the more disappointing, then, is what ends up on the plates. The food is – with all due respect – a bitter disappointment. Carelessly prepared, the taste is bland to questionable, and the quality is at best cafeteria-level. I would have expected much more from a restaurant that presents itself in such an appealing ambiance. What remains is the feeling of a missed opportunity. So much could be done here – with a cuisine that even comes close to meeting the high standards of the surrounding area, this place could be a real insider tip. Instead, you leave with a disappointed palate and the impression that the potential has been left hanging at the kitchen door. Conclusion: If you're just stopping by for a drink in a pleasant atmosphere, you won't be disappointed. However, if you value good food, you should lower your expectations considerably – or better yet, eat somewhere else.

Suba Laden…suba Kellner (lütfi)

Upon arrival, the staff ignores you unless you're following someone directly. Drinks listed on the menu aren't available (on a Friday night). At some point, you finally get the idea to go shopping... The food was served before the drinks even arrived. I ordered the wrong food, and they don't accommodate any food intolerances. And last but not least, I was overcharged. The food was okay for a beer garden, and the ambiance was nice. Parking is also good (parking tickets can be validated). All in all, we were very disappointed. What a shame.

A very nice beer garden—a piece of Würzburg's cultural heritage. The food is good, and the beer is even better. Not to mention the very friendly and attentive staff. Always a pleasure!

I think the operators' expectations are significantly higher than reality. The price is simply too high for direct marketing of beer. The same applies to the food. But the service was absolutely abysmal. We probably just had bad luck with our waiter. 🤷 But if I have to wait 30 minutes for a beer, he can't even maintain eye contact with his customers, and I have to order from my colleagues only to get the wrong beer, then this is simply not worthy of a beer garden. I won't be coming back anytime soon. What a shame.

Once again, I was at the Hofbräu beer garden. The cheese spaetzle was an absolute disaster. The service could have been better. What I have to say is, why aren't the owners taking action? The ambiance is absolutely fantastic. Why doesn't the investor/manager see this? There's potential. One can only wish that things will get better.

Beautiful garden. We had to wait a long time for service even though it wasn't busy. We had to speak to three people before we got the bill. We didn't feel welcome as guests. It's a real shame.

Yesterday, June 20, 2025, at 4:50 p.m., we wanted to try the Hofbräukeller again, as the previous owner, Henke, only served lukewarm beer. Well, about seven employees, probably minimum wage earners, just stared at us disinterestedly; no one came to us. We left this impossible beer garden, thirsty, at 5:10 p.m., even though it wasn't very busy.

Eight of us went for dinner in the evening. First, a positive: The place is really nice, the drinks were delicious, from the homemade lemonade to the beer and the Sarti Spritz. Furthermore, the main server was always attentive and friendly. The food, however, was very disappointing. I should have read the reviews beforehand, because I can only agree with the criticisms. The chicken seems to be a frozen industrial product. In any case, the breading is high. It was evidently prepared well in advance and kept warm, as it was very dry on the outside. It also had that rancid taste that develops when you heat fat to a high temperature for frying and then leave it at low heat for a long time. Overall, most of the dishes were lukewarm. Unfortunately, the salad was very soggy. We sent back two dishes. Even though we only took a few bites, they told us that we shouldn't have eaten any of the food if it wasn't good. The complaint was therefore unacceptable. I understand the point, considering half of it was already gone. But in fact, there was still well over three-quarters of the portion left on the plate. Another argument was that the chicken and salad were often ordered and usually not complained about. In the end, we were given a drink—one drink in total for two meals. This meant that we had to order something else to eat later elsewhere. I would have much preferred the criticism to have been received more positively. I understand that you have to develop and test suitable concepts first. But I should always be open to honest criticism. A chicken like that and lukewarm, slightly rotten salad can be a health risk. That's a shame, because the location is so beautiful and offers so much potential. Conclusion: only great for a beer. The food, not so much. Unless the quality of the food isn't that important to you.

A very nice old beer garden under new management. Super friendly service and good food! Unfortunately, there's no real playground anymore, just a sandpit. There used to be a huge climbing frame.

I ate there for the third time yesterday, and unfortunately, I've noticed that the food gets worse each time. Yesterday I had the crispy Backhändl (baked pork belly), which was unfortunately very bad. The breading tasted reheated and sticky. I asked the waiter about it, but there was no response. It's a shame, I really liked it at first.

Five of us came here for dinner yesterday. The food was good to very good. Our marina was excellent, the best service ever. We'll be back 👍

A beautiful, large beer garden, somewhat off the beaten track, with very good food. Found it on a city trip to Würzburg. Service was very friendly. Great food. I can recommend it anytime. Would come back anytime.👍😄

Hello Hofbräuhaus bosses I would have loved to stop by today, but unfortunately, the place isn't inviting. The first impression is just not great.

Unfortunately zero points. Reserved for 10 people. Waited 10 minutes at the entrance until we were brought to our table. After 15 minutes at the table a card arrived. No drinks were initially included. Eating took an hour and a half. While we were waiting, the service ignored us to be on the safe side. Could anyone complain? Food only came when asked. Waiter's note: We should have ordered appetizers too. Great statement. The food was lukewarm and had probably been served for a while. But we were already too hungry to send us back to the kitchen. Taste was ok, might have been better hot. The sauce was heavily helped with flavor enhancers. There was actually nothing to complain about about the beer! But we didn't manage to order more than two drinks in 2.5 hours. Went home thirsty and disappointed

Unfortunately the food was a disaster. Fried chicken is on the menu and has nothing to do with it. They are two breaded, thawed chicken schnitzels from the freezer and are still soggy. After 50 waits. The baked trout is breaded? and has nothing to do with baking. Ready-made food without taste. The conditions themselves made me feel sorry for having to represent something like that and got a tip. No recommendation!

Today we finally went to the Hofbräu again after a long absence. The food came quickly, there was nothing to complain about (except that there is no longer any wedding food 😉) The food was plentiful and reasonably priced. The service was great, very nice and quick. Gladly again. The music was a bit annoying at first, but you get used to it. Gladly again

Nice beer garden, but prices are steep and food is mediocre. The Schupfnudel pan was very oily and half cold, the portion of fries was also quite greasy and soggy. The service could also be improved a lot.

Four of us went to the newly opened beer garden yesterday. After half an hour at the table, still no drink, there was only 1 menu for 4 people and when I asked for a few more, nothing came at all! After more than half an hour we left the restaurant thirstier and hungrier than when we arrived. What a shame! The service needs to be much better!

Staff friendly, you have to wait a long time for the food (we waited 2 hours for the food) the temperature of the food was too cold. You should ask for the invoice when you receive it and check it.

We went for dinner with a small group. The food we ordered was cold and the manager then said that the spaetzle is always served cold. We sent 7 out of 10 meals back to the kitchen. The managing director was really angry

Very nice beer garden, with comfortable chairs. We ordered four meals, three of which tasted quite good. However, when I order a fried chicken, I understand half a breaded chicken. However, an unidentifiable chicken schnitzel arrived, which was more breading than meat. What a shame!

Yesterday we went to the newly opened Hofbräubiergarten in Würzburg and were really excited. A super nice, quick service (thanks to Marina) and again a very nice atmosphere inside and outside. The food was very good, price/performance ok. We really liked the beer board with 5 small beer samples and the beer recommendations for the meal. Absolutely recommended - we will definitely be back.

We went to the Würzburger Hofbräu as a couple at the beginning of April 2025. We were told there was now a new beginning with a new tenant. All we can say is keep it up. We felt very comfortable. Fast, friendly and well organized. If you read the previous comments from guests and the answers from the former management, there is no sign of the bad mood anymore. We wish you much success and keep it up.

In itself a nice beer garden under large trees. But wilted/brown salad decoration on the Camembert, a cheese plate on which, in addition to dressings and Limburger, mozzarella and cheddar cheese were served. There was no sausage platter that day. As I only saw after the meal, plates were straightened without gloves (no problem for me if my hands/fingernails are clean)

Today I ordered a strip of apple strudel with vanilla ice cream for €9. When I noticed that the strudel was still frozen in the middle and immediately complained about it, we were accused of having eaten too much and not complaining about it immediately. The complained piece could still be checked for frozenness. Instead of finding a solution, the guest was portrayed as the culprit, that he had made mistakes and was unnecessarily causing a ruckus. I've never experienced anything like this before. No insight or feeling for what should be natural for a restaurateur. That was the last time, even though we used to love the Hofbräuhaus...

Huge parking lot, had pre-ordered a currywurst to take away by phone in order to hurry up, with a request to cut it into small pieces. I wasn't expecting such a huge portion, very tasty, the waiter thought about forks, really great for €9.

We were there in a group. It was rather loud inside. If possible, outside would be more pleasant. The Schäufele were very good. The burgers were okay. However, the portion of fries was very small. And the amount of BBQ sauce that was included was ridiculously small. A better dollop in a tiny bowl. Ketchup and mayo cost extra: 20ct per portion. That's not supposed to happen anyway, but even though they're so small, you have to pay a lot more for decent ketchup. By the way, ketchup wasn't on the menu for the schnitzel with fries.

The older waiter and waitress were extremely stressed and very unfriendly. A Schäufele was absolutely dry and chewy, as if it was from the day before and had been warmed up again. According to the waitress, it was not possible to get a mixed salad with a dish instead of a coleslaw. I will not visit the beautiful beer garden again because of the poor service.

Sehr schöne Location, im Winter wie im Sommer. Wir waren zum Abendessen hier. Die Bedienung war nett und freundlich. Das Essen kam schnell und war super lecker. Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Absolute Empfehlung, gerne wieder.

Zweiter Versuch nach einem Jahr! Enttäuschend. Wir haben Zwei Schweinshaxen bestellt. Bei beiden schmeckte das Fleisch sonderbar. Der komische Geschmack kam nicht von einem Gewürz sondern das Fleisch hatte einen sehr merkwürdigen ... Eigengeschmack. Wir haben es zurück gehen lassen. Die Beilagen waren in Ordnung.

Sehr leckeres Essen, wobei die Haxe etwas saftiger hätte sein können. Leckere Soßen. Schöne Auswahl an süffigen Bieren.

Volle Punktzahl für fesche Bedienung, lecker 😋 Essen und tolles Ambiente, waren in der Gruppe nicht zum 1sten mal anwesend und kommen garantiert wieder, ausreichend Parkplätze vorhanden.
