We were there as part of the Eat the World tour and made a reservation for the evening. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The service was very attentive and welcoming.

Super little place. Great Franconian food, beer and wine. Desserts made in house. Schäufele is the way to go. Either as the dish itself or the schäufele meat cooked (again) in beer and onion gravy and served with knödeln.

Absolutely cozy ambiance on the beautifully lit terrace. We just wanted a glass of wine and nothing to eat. That wasn't a problem at all. The service was super friendly. The wine was delicious, and we had a lovely nightcap on a wonderful terrace with a beautiful view of the river.

Beautiful terrace by the water. Service was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the rind of the Schäuferla (a kind of pork belly) wasn't crispy. After complaining, we were offered an espresso/schnapps. The price was perfectly reasonable.

It’s an ok place. Half of our table got their food the other half got it an hr later. The food was salty but eatable. Originally was going to be 3 stars but the staff made up for it by giving a complimentary dessert. The atmosphere is nice and chill.

The service was very friendly. Unfortunately, most of the food was burnt. Even after the kitchen sorted out the burnt items, there was still no discount. I could have gotten a free coffee, but I didn't want it.

We happened upon this place by chance through our geocaching hobby and, of course, we stopped by. A great beer garden where I drank my first smoked beer. After moving indoors due to a severe storm, I found a quaint pub. The food was incredibly delicious, and the service was super friendly and attentive. If we ever come to Bamberg again, this place is a must! Thank you for this amazing experience on my birthday...

We discovered the restaurant quite by chance and were absolutely thrilled. Sitting outside in the evening, surrounded by fairy lights, is a truly cozy experience. The food was incredibly delicious, the meat was tender, and the Kaiserschmarren for dessert was also incredibly tasty. The vanilla sauce on the Kaiserschmarren was the best! The service was also very friendly and attentive. We would gladly come back.

Our first visit to the restaurant won't be our last. We give the owner and her staff a big thumbs-up. The excellent food and the value for money are spot on. Even my unconventional order of a Schäuferla (a kind of pork shoulder) with fried potatoes was accepted with gritted teeth. Highly recommended for repeat customers. A quiet corner by the Ludwig-Donau-Main Canal / Brucknersteg bridge. Lovely ambiance, super-friendly waitress, OK food. Finding a less-crowded restaurant during the Sandkerba (if you don't know what that is, google it 😁) isn't easy. It was lovely here.

A super cozy, quaint restaurant in a fantastic location right on the canal in Bamberg's city center. The food is typically Franconian, freshly prepared, and incredibly delicious! I particularly liked the friendly, attentive service and the relaxed atmosphere—both inside and out. Perfect for a summer evening or a break after a stroll through the old town. Highly recommended!

Very nice place on the bank of the tributary. The food is really good; I recommend the pork shoulder with beer sauce. It's about twenty euros well spent, especially considering the generous portions. The bathrooms are top-notch.

Prices are more suited to tourists. The portions at Schäuferla are also smaller. You can find better options within Bamberg.

Typical local restaurant, with super heavy and super tasty food. The sweet omelet is spectacular. Very slow service and a bit crowded with tourists. Both internal courtyards and an outdoor patio are available, a very charming location on the banks of the stream (where, however, there's room for up to four people per table, but it's always going to rain anyway). Say hello to the cat 🐱

We had roast pork with dumplings and sauerkraut and Bamberger meat and onions. The food was very tasty and the portions were generous. We'd gladly return.

We happened to pass by the wine barrel today and immediately found the outdoor area cozy, so we stopped there for dinner. We received a very friendly welcome, and our drinks arrived promptly. All of our meals were delicious – we had the bratwurst and the spaetzle, among others. Both are highly recommended! However, the one-hour wait was quite long. We also had to wait a while to pay – the service seemed a bit overwhelmed over time.

Fast and friendly service, very good selection of summer drinks

Very ambitious prices for a simple wine spritzer and simple furnishings. Addendum to the restaurant owner's response: If quality wine is used for the spritzer, I think it would be appropriate to serve this quality product in a proper glass (wine glass and possibly carafe) and not in a boring beer glass. My original comment about the simple furnishings therefore also referred to the presentation of the drinks.

Super delicious, classic Franconian cuisine. The onion-flavored meat was super tender, and the sausages were deliciously seasoned. For my taste, the sauerkraut could have used a bit less caraway. But it was still delicious. The potato salad was nicely seasoned—not for kids, but for adults, and not just from a can. The atmosphere in the beer garden by the river was also very nice.

For me, this is THE place to eat in Bamberg. It's a riverside restaurant where you can eat inside or outside. The restaurant itself has a rustic charm; the tables are "separated" by wood paneling, which allows you to enjoy the space as a couple while still enjoying the setting. If you don't mind spontaneously meeting new people (which you generally shouldn't), you'll quickly find yourself sitting at a table with others, but it only reflects your personality if you get upset about it!!! Some people find it too loud to sit together with others, but it didn't bother me at all!!! The food is delicious, and special requests are catered to. Classic Bavarian/Franconian food. The staff is super friendly, they make you feel very well looked after. Regarding the price, I was surprised that the bill wasn't higher for the service. For two people, we paid about €47 for two sumptuous meals and drinks. If you're in Bamberg, you should definitely stop by; I highly recommend it.

Reheated lukewarm, the meat was so overcooked that it was dry and hard. Inedible. We couldn't get it down. What a pity. Three guys on bikes passed by and said loudly: Top restaurant, number 1. Inedible and reheated... Yes, unfortunately, we didn't listen.

On the way between two breweries on our day tour on May 2nd, we discovered the small restaurant and took a drink break. When it was 30 degrees in the sun, we had the best view of people walking by in the shade. The cold drinks were fabulous, the service was very friendly and available.

We were in the newly opened wine barrel today and were pleasantly surprised. Very nice atmosphere, friendly service and good, down-to-earth food. It was very comfortable and we would love to come back. However, based on the name of the restaurant, we would like to see a larger selection of wines. That's fine, the Franconian would say... 😉

Last night we spontaneously went to the wine barrel and had excellent wines, Kaiserschmarren and cheese cubes. The service was quick and extremely friendly, our special requests were taken into account and we learned a little about the wine barrel and its history. We would definitely come back - especially in summer when you can use the beautiful terrace with a view of the water.

We have been eating in the wine barrel with the family since the reopening on the recommendation of former guests. Conclusion, the ambience is unique and very cozy. Food and drinks, tasty and something for every palate. Good selection of drinks. Staff, service very friendly and competent. In short, from my experience, the wine barrel can only be recommended.

The new owners are just great! They are warm, friendly and create an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. You immediately feel comfortable and welcome, which makes the visit an all-round positive experience. The ambience of the wine barrel is also very appealing. It exudes a cosiness that invites you to linger. It's the perfect place to spend a relaxing evening. I can only recommend everyone to see for themselves the quality of the food and the great service. It is truly a pleasure to dine here - in contrast to the experiences I had with the previous owner. The wine barrel finally has the potential to become an absolute favorite place!
