Restaurant Störtebeker in Cuxhaven

We received a very warm welcome, even though we arrived on a busy evening without a reservation and with our huge dog. The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive, and we had delicious fish dishes. The atmosphere is charmingly rustic, and the location right on the beach promenade is superb. I really can't understand the negative reviews. I can't comment on the rooms, as we only visited the restaurant.

The Störtebecker skewer, consisting of two pork fillet medallions and two small rump steaks, wasn't a skewer at all, but rather four flattened pieces of meat. They didn't taste bad, but I had expected something else. The medallions in pepper sauce (2 pieces) turned out to be four equally flattened pieces of meat. The piece of meat died twice. It's a shame, really, because the restaurant has a great location.

Very nice rooms/apartment. This is my second time staying here with my dog. It's always been great. The hotel is right by the sea, and the dog beach and dog run are within easy walking distance.

I can recommend the restaurant. German cuisine and various fish dishes of acceptable quality. Not a Michelin-starred chef, but solid craftsmanship. The service is friendly and prompt, happy to accommodate special requests. And when the weather's nice, the terrace is an ideal spot to gaze out over the mudflats and enjoy the sunset. Prices are reasonable for the area. Even two months later, this still holds true. You may be sitting inside now, but the food is still delicious.

The hot chocolate wasn't great, but the cappuccino was okay. The service was rather lackluster, and you felt a bit like you were intruding. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

The restaurant is great. The service was very friendly and fun. The food was excellent. We had schnitzel (super tender) with fries, the rump steak (perfectly cooked) with mushrooms and fries, and two fish dishes with crab (very tasty). My son especially enjoyed the fries. The portions were a good size (I couldn't finish my portion). The view of the water/mudflats is fantastic. We'd love to come back when we're there. I can't comment on the rooms, as we were only going to eat in the restaurant.

The online menu is unreadable. The owners should work on that.

The staff is quite friendly and very nice. Unfortunately, the food (schnitzel with mushroom sauce) wasn't that good. There was very little sauce, and the food was very poorly presented. The taste was okay, nothing special. The price was too high.

We ate there twice within a month. From the fish to the currywurst to the meat, everything was delicious and beautifully presented! The staff was very friendly and accommodating! We can recommend the restaurant with a clear conscience!

My wife and I went there on Saturday. The place may not look like much, but the staff is friendly. My wife had a plaice fillet and I had a whole plaice. I don't really understand the negative reviews. Especially reviews like "never again" or "not recommended" are just nonsense. Given the many negative reviews, we were pleasantly surprised.

We ate there today despite the bad reviews, and I have to say it was fantastic. The schnitzels were freshly prepared, the asparagus was cooked to perfection, and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. My companion's fish dish was also fresh and delicious. The service was very friendly. The restaurant was a bit dated, but the view of the sea was fantastic.

Serious question: What does the chef do for a living? Today I ordered a schnitzel with hunter's sauce and fries. The fries weren't salted, there was no mayo or ketchup and nothing was offered. There was no small salad with the dish and the schnitzel was a frozen schnitzel. The hunter's sauce was warmed up to the maximum in the microwave. Nothing was served, not even a lettuce leaf on the plate. The dish literally consisted of a small schnitzel, a handful of fries and a blob of sauce with mushrooms.The almost 20 euros are not justified.Once and never again.

Yes. Very. Staff always friendly and always in the mood for dry Frisian humor. Breakfast is rich and the coffee is very good. Price-performance ratio is right. I would recommend it at any time 🤗👌👍

We ordered a schnitzel with mushrooms and fries. Unfortunately, the sauce was at the lowest snack level and the plate was decorated absolutely carelessly. €19.95 for that? Once and never again! The beer was ok! Next time we'll go next door to the Italian or Greek restaurant! It's 3 classes better there!

One star is still too many, but it's due to the location with a direct view of the sea! The food was lukewarm. If you just want something to drink, fine, definitely not food. Unfortunately, we neglected to read the recessions, otherwise we would have been spared this.

We ate there... once and never again. The potato salad we bought was spicier than the soggy fish. Fries were ok, but you can't go wrong. The meat was dry. We can't recommend it to anyone! Shame about the money!

It's a shame, the Resturant Störtebecker is in a fantastic location, but unfortunately has to suffer from at least one very unfriendly waiter. No smile, no kind word, he loudly communicates how annoyed he is that you want to look at the menu before you order and reacts harshly when you ask for the bill. Absolutely impossible! The other service person who was outside was totally polite and friendly. Unfortunately, the crab soup only arrived lukewarm and was definitely not homemade, but a ready-made product. Too bad!

Today we were completely satisfied with the service, location, food and reasonable prices. The amount of fish and crab was very generous. I found it particularly positive that the waitress actively asked in advance whether I would like a smaller portion.

The prices are about €3 more expensive than you see in the picture of the menu. I had beef roulade with red cabbage. It was tasty and the portion size was right. Service very friendly. Beautiful view of the North Sea.

The pollock fillet (Pacific pollack) was deep fried and unfortunately tasted like fry fat. The fried potatoes were good (€1 extra charge because it wasn't offered on the menu). The salad was ok, the dressing was something ready-made from a bucket/jar. The schnitzel was a frozen paddy, there were very few mushrooms and onions on it, the beer was good. Conclusion: we are disappointed because we missed the culinary art of a restaurant. We won't be returning here again this holiday. But the location with a view of the mudflats is unbeatable. For people who just want to be full, it's enough...

I have stayed in this accommodation many times. Most recently, now July 13-23, 24. From my point of view, a wonderful place to unwind. The rooms are newly renovated, the breakfast is great, you can eat and drink wonderfully in the restaurant! The people who work there are all friendly and helpful! From my point of view, absolutely TOP!!! My school grade would be A with stars! I am pleased that I have booked another week for next summer. What I particularly like in the restaurant is: - Störtebeker skewer - Fish fillet and crabs - Turkey nature Human, quality food and drink (great Merlot on tap), accommodation with breakfast... From me the grade 1.0 🔝🔝🔝🔝

I honestly can't understand the negative reviews here. Of course, these are always snapshots and everyone can have a bad day, but I was always satisfied in this restaurant. We just had dinner here again today with four people and everything was fine. The service was friendly, the food was delicious and the prices were completely legitimate (considering that it is a tourist-oriented beach promenade anyway). We always enjoy coming here!

I had dinner there and had a schnitzel plate. After eating two bites of it, I returned the food. The schnitzel was laced with cartilage and tendons. A new one was brought to me, but it was also covered in cartilage. Service was OK. But I won't eat there anymore.

View and location great! Service was super nice. Plaice fillet was okay. The prices can be expanded with the side salad and everything. The food really wasn't bad, but you just pay for the location🤷 Personally, I think you could do more. Clean restaurant signs, offer Störtebeker beer to match the name, make side salads a little larger and more attractive in terms of prices. Otherwise you can eat really well there.

Unfortunately, not particularly friendly service. Carelessly prepared salad variation, tomato, cucumber, carrot and lots of iceberg lettuce with a boring ready-made dressing. Any ready-made salad bag from the supermarket would have been just as good.

Excellent location, good home-style food, very nice service

We ate at Störtebeker at the beginning of June. We were completely happy again. The food (cutter plaice and crabs each with potatoes) was fresh and hot! Really nice! The view of the sea or mudflats is always excellent! We will be back :-)

A good recommendation for delicious food. If you're a fan of Labskaus, it's a "must" but the cutter's plaice shouldn't be missing from your order list either. The staff is very friendly. I would be happy to pass on this recommendation.

Delicious food, nice service. Great location. But I also have one criticism: 1. Sinalco for Alster should be reconsidered. 2. More selection of Störtebecker beer 🍻 - it tastes much better than the "industrial beer" served by a well-known manufacturer.

The lady from the service was very unfriendly. It was crowned with the food. The plates were dirty and sticky. The cream sauce was ready and the fresh mushrooms were half a mushroom sliced ​​paper thin. The supposedly fresh schnitzel is frozen goods and the Diet Coke is cheap, non-carbonated Sinalco. The location is great! Sea view/Watt. Service was a bit grumpy at lunchtime, the food was ok, unfortunately the latte macchiato wasn't to my taste at all. Overall, I lacked a bit of passion. I can't say anything about the rooms, we only had lunch.

We can't say anything about the rooms. The restaurant is getting old. 70 years. Staff friendly and quick. The food wasn't a highlight. The filet plate wasn't ok for the price. We were surprised at the price of the fish platter for two people. 65 euros. The picture of the fish platter was available on the website. We have never discovered such a high price in any other restaurant from Sahlenburg to Cuxhaven. But everyone has to decide that for themselves. In any case, we discovered better places for ourselves.

Great view of the Wadden Sea. We were there on March 31st. for dinner there and are very satisfied. It is a home-style restaurant with a large selection of typical northern German dishes, such as fish and Labskaus. Plus some meat dishes. I ate the Blankenese plaice there and ordered it as a fillet. The fillet was flawless, not a tiny bone and the portion was very generous. The meat dishes we ordered at our table were also delicious. The service was good, but the restaurant was also very full, so you had to wait a minute longer - no problem. I can't confirm what some of the reviews say here are bad.

You can sit nicely. A nice place when the weather is good. We were only there for a drink. Unfortunately the service was a bit slow and when we wanted to order a 2 round, we had to go to the waitress to do so, not the other way around as it should be. We lacked a little attention there.

Home cooking. Best location, right on the beach in Sahlenburg. In summer the large outdoor terrace is recommended. You can watch beautiful sunsets there.

Wir waren zum Mittagessen dort, es war tatsächlich auch durch mieses Wetter bedingt nichts los, deswegen wurden wir prompt von einer netten, freundlichen Bedienung angesprochen, das bestellte Essen kam zügig. Die rustikale Einrichtung wirkte in die Jahre gekommen, die Speisekarte stammte aus dem Copy-Shop, uns fiel die Wahl nicht schwer, einmal Fischteller, und einmal Schnitzel. Die Portionen waren üppig und machten richtig satt, Quantität rechtfertigt daher den Preis des Gerichtes. Bürgerliche Bewirtung zum Satt werden.

Tolle Lage. Kühle frische Biere. Gemischtes Publikum

Leider nur vertrockneter Käsekuchen. TK Ware. Ein warmes Essen konnten wir in der Mittagszeit leider nicht bekommen. Im Nachhinein vielleicht auch besser. Sehr unfreundlicher Service.

Lage top. Service schlecht. Nix zu essen bekommen da wir als Gruppe zuviele waren und auch keine andere Option angeboten bekommen. Käsekuchen aus dem Tiefkühler und halb vertrocknet. Also für uns nie wieder. Schade.

Waren zum Abschluss unseres Urlaubs hier essen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und das Essen war reichhaltig und gut. Das Ambiente war für ein Restaurant, das hauptsächlich Fisch anbietet, völlig in Ordnung und passend. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, was hier von manchen „Spezialisten“ erwartet wird.

Die Bewertung bezieht sich hier auf das Restaurant, nicht auf die Unterkunft. Die beiden Sterne, die es zu vergeben gibt, sind überwiegend für die super Lage und das große Plus, dass man seinen Hund mitnehmen kann. Service wird hier klein geschrieben, als wir nachfragten, ob wir zum Kinderteller (Mobydick) auch Spinat bestellen könnten und dieses verneint wurde (da angeblich kein Spinat da ist) dachten wir noch okay. Auf die nächste Frage, ob wir statt Pommes für die kleine lieber Kartoffelpüree bekommen könnten, wurde dieses wieder verneint. Anscheinend ist es dem Koch beziehungsweise dem Personal in diesem Laden nicht möglich, die auf der Karte stehenden Salzkartoffeln mit etwas Milch und Butter kurz zu stampfen und auf den Kinderteller zu geben. Dann haben wir uns dazu entschieden, SalzKartoffeln und ein Stückchen Butter(welches uns noch mit einem Euro zusätzlich berechnet wurde) zu bestellen. So einen Blödsinn habe ich noch nirgends erlebt. Trotz allem Ärger , ( die wahrscheinlich TK Fischstäbchen ) waren laut der kleinen lecker.

Wir waren zusammen zum Abendessen hier. Die Fischplatte und zwei Suppen es war alles hervorragend. Immer gerne wieder!

Haben eine angenehme Nacht verbracht. Für 130 € ist das Bad eine Frechheit, 1,5 qm man konnte sich darin kaum bewegen und das Waschbecken ist ein mini Gäste WC Becken. Das Standard Frühstück war ok. Doch bei den Preis hätte wir etwas mehr als nur vier einfache Brötchen erwartet. Definitiv insgesamt zu teuer.

Der Service war leider sehr schlecht kein freundliches Lachen zur Begrüßung oder eine freundliche Beratung von unserer Bedienung andere Damen taten dies. Das Essen, wir wählten das Schnitzel war in Ordnung. Die Fischgerichte sahen sehr lecker aus und sind vielleicht eher ihre Ausrichtung. Die Lage dieses Restaurants ist dafür unschlagbar direkt am Meer.

Haben dieses Lokal nur einmal besucht, wird auch zukünftig dabei bleiben. Der erste Eindruck war gut, was sich aber schnell änderte. Haben relativ schnell einen Tisch bekommen, so weit, so gut. Getränke bestellt und anschließend das Essen. Wollte zwischenzeitlich nochmals ein Getränk nachordern, wurde allerdings konsequent ignoriert und zwar offensichtlich vom Inhaber selbst, war später bei einer anderen Bedienung erfolgreich, zuzüglich der entsprechend langen Wartezeit. Wirkte sich nicht positiv auf die gute Laune aus, aber bis dahin, alles noch tolerrabel. Nach etwa 40 Minuten wurden die Speisen serviert, die aber nicht durchgängig den Bestellungen entsprachen. Die Bemerkung meiner Frau, daß sie dieses Gericht nicht bestellt habe wurde auch prompt beantwortet: " Können da nichts korrigieren, Küche hat bereits geschlossen". Haben diese Aussage als das interpretiert was sie letztendlich war, eine Schutzbehauptung. Möchte hierzu bemerken, es war 19:40 Uhr. Unsere Fazit zu diesem Zeitpunkt: Wir haben keine Option, vorausgesetzt, wir möchten gemeinsam essen, also "Falschlieferung" angenommen. Mehrpreis der Speise belief sich auf ca. 10€. Entschuldigung ist auch bei der Bezahlung nicht erfolgt. Die Qualität der Speisen entsprach nicht ansatzweise unserer Erwartung, abgesehen davon, daß das Ganze nur noch lauwarm war. So eine negative Erfahrung hatten wir bisher selten. Kurz gesagt, das Letzte.

Für ein Getränk auf der Terrasse mag es gerade noch okay sein, aber selbst dafür gibt es im kleinen Sahlenburg deutlich bessere Alternativen. Essen sollte man hier tunlichst vermeiden. TK-Produkte zu überteuerten Preisen lieblos auf den Teller geknallt. Serviert vom Service, der noch ein paar Nachhilfestunden in Sachen Gastfreundlichkeit gebrauchen könnte. Ein Stern für die Aussicht, mehr nicht.
