As always, nice staff, very good food. The only thing is that the waiting times are sometimes longer. But only if larger events, such as weddings, are taking place. But for the former (see above) I would like to wait a little longer.

We celebrated our wedding at Steinmeyer with 50 people. Everything was taken care of, all wishes were taken into account and all guests felt comfortable. Great service, ambience and very tasty food!

Feel free to go to Steinmeyer. The view, the food and the service are top. Of course you can be unlucky and sometimes it takes a while when there is a lot of traffic, but where is that not the case? If you have something to criticize about the food or the service, you should do so directly and, above all, objectively. I am sure that a solution that is satisfactory for everyone can then be found. During my visits I never had the feeling that there was a two-class society among the guests. But perhaps everyone feels differently. Whether I come in a Porsche or a Trabi, I pay the same for a meal. I can say from my side that if something wasn't right, it was taken care of, so that the evening can still be summed up positively. People work here and errors, processes in the organization, etc. can always occur. In any case, I will continue to enjoy the view with a Caesar salad and a good, hand-crafted cordon bleu. Although less often than before, due to the prices, a visit is still something special.😊 And no, this review was not bought, otherwise I would start my own business with it.🤑

Reserved a table at 8 p.m. on Saturday evening when the weather was great. Everything went like clockwork. Time to have a chat with the waiter and everything was timed perfectly.

It's the nicest restaurant in the area. We love coming here so often, not just because of the perfect view, but also because of the wonderful service and the most delicious food. Kai Gingersen in particular always serves us very courteously. A guarantee for wonderful evenings for two or with dear friends!

We would like to praise the host (the Pohlmann family and their employees). No matter when we come, whether with family or friends, we are always warmly welcomed. The location and the food and drinks of the restaurant cannot be described, you have to experience it to be believed. The beautiful view high in the mountain of the city of Herford. It's not just the food that stands still in time. It used to be a good, creative restaurant and today it's just a place for culinary eaters of all kinds: "If the farmer doesn't know it, he won't eat it." Here you are stuck in time and there is nothing new or creative anymore. Every other restaurant can and does it better. Especially when it comes to veggi/vegan, it's more of a tragedy here. A burger that is available everywhere and a chili are more of a train station canteen than good craftsmanship. What used to be good quality steaks are now poor, cheap products that everyone can make better at home. The only thing that is still changing with the times here, and hopefully soon, is the service. Apart from the fact that it is ridiculous that the main problem for the catastrophic service is that Kai Ginersen praises himself as a "professional service person" like God in order to dismiss mistakes, rudeness and even criticism from the guests, and rates himself here. The now senior manager has also stood still in time and continues to pass on her “reputation” to all guests with all honor. I recommend that the lady complete training as a restaurant specialist before she wants to run a restaurant. Arrogance, rudeness & unprofessional are more like compliments here. Furthermore, sometimes less is more! It is better to accept fewer guests in order to be able to serve the existing guests better. But here, unfortunately, you can't get your head full enough, much to the chagrin of all the guests (unless you drive your Porsche straight into the front door). Rich regulars are the most important thing here and are allowed to do anything. Conclusion: We will no longer visit this restaurant as a family. We would rather turn down wedding/birthday invitations than accept something like that. But any criticism is ignored here anyway because it is something “better”. -1/5 stars

It says a lot about a restaurant when its employees have to give positive reviews to counteract all the negative things of late. Kai Gingersen himself works in service there and now gives a 5 star rating. Short summary of this restaurant: Senior chef without words, there is a lot going wrong on a psychological level. Service bad, you can tell the bad mood in the team. Food was way too overpriced for what was offered, there were guests at a party recently, it was beyond words. 1 star is still too much. The boss is snarky, the old men in service are cheeky, the young people in service have no experience whatsoever. Endless waiting times, food is limited for a very high price and the question of whether you can still get some meat is not well received. The ambience is ok, the view is nice, but that alone is not enough. Food itself was ok, but nothing special and not recommended for the price. I really can't advise anyone to celebrate there, we were very disappointed with the overall package. And the fact that your own waiter is now giving reviews is more than cheeky. Conclusion: Never again

Restaurant Steinmeyer is always our first choice if you want to eat out in the Herford district and the surrounding area. It starts with the warm welcome from the service team, which is really attentive, friendly, humorous and quick. The food, whether it's the starters, main courses or desserts, is always of top quality and extremely tasty. Of course, wait if you want it freshly prepared and if it's full, you should bring some time, and if you don't have time you should go to a snack bar 😁😁😁. It was a terrible experience. We were at Steinmeyer to celebrate my grandfather's birthday, who turned 89. We had to wait over 1.5 hours for the food. Unfortunately, we had to learn how arrogant and rude the waiters were to us. As a regular customer it might be nice to be cheered there, but you can clearly see a sense of favoriteism and as a mere mortal it is a very unpleasant atmosphere. The quantity is saved so much that you still have to order a pizza at home. Apart from the view, unfortunately I can only advise against it, or hope that the waiters finally retire.

Was with my girlfriend and a good friend, very nice service. Everything came quickly even though it was completely full. The staff take their time with the guests and are very friendly. The food is amazing, my steak is super tender and to the point. Always my pleasure....

Unfortunately it was a total failure for our son's baptism. On Sunday, August 25th We celebrated our son's baptism with the Pohlmann family in the Waldrestaurant Steinmeyer. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. But let's start with the positive: The service at the table was nice, polite and honest, and the taste of the food was okay. Now to the negative: It all started on Saturday evening when we received a call at 10:35 p.m. We wanted to make sure again whether the number of people would remain the same and whether we would like to sit inside or outside. Apart from the fact that I find the time of day to call before a baptism absolutely inappropriate, my wife was already there at 5 p.m. on the same day to drop off decorations. My wife once again confirmed the number of people and our desire to sit outside. On Sunday we were there on time at the agreed time. After all the guests had arrived and we had waited in vain for another 10 minutes for the agreed champagne reception, I went in to register. Answer from the senior manager: “Yes, we have seen that they are already there”. After several more minutes, champagne, orange juice, etc. were slowly toasted. The starter was served quite quickly and was nicely presented. Unfortunately, the Rösti, on which the slice of smoked salmon was draped, was only frozen goods. It took a lot of time before the main course. About 45 minutes after the appetizer plates were cleared, my wife went into the restaurant to ask how long it would take, since the company was slowly becoming hungry. The waiter politely apologized, but unfortunately it would take a while. Finally the main course arrived, as suggested by the restaurant, served on large platters on the table. Since it was very windy, it would have been a good idea to have glasses or warming plates. The pieces of meat and the gratin were very limited, and since no one from the staff checked to see if anything was missing, I went back into the restaurant and asked the senior manager to bring us some more meat. “I’ll come out and see what you’re still missing” was the answer. After a quick glance over our tables, the lady went back without saying a word. After another 20 minutes of waiting, the waitress came and brought more meat and gratin. Unfortunately, half of the pork medallions were still completely raw, so the remaining medallions went back to the kitchen. After another wait, the “recooked” meat arrived. Since the first croquettes were now cold (they had been on the table for 30 minutes), new croquettes arrived. Unfortunately, these were no longer eaten because no more sauce was brought. Apparently the boss's scrutiny said that we didn't need any more sauce. It seemed like it had taken an eternity until dessert. After waiting for a while, I went back in and asked if our guests could get coffee, espresso, etc. at about the same time as dessert. Comment from the junior boss: “I’ll send someone over to take the order.” No sooner said than done, but dessert arrived at the same time as the waiter who wanted to take orders for 21 coffee drinks. This could neither melt nor get warm or cold and could have been kept in the kitchen for a few minutes to give the counter time to prepare the warm drinks. Apart from the fact that the dessert (three types of mousse) should have been placed on one plate per person as agreed, instead several large plates were carelessly placed on the tables on which there were small bowls with the desserts. For around €80 per person, my wife and I actually imagined something completely different.

First-class food and very nice and friendly service. A really nice atmosphere, especially outside on the terrace. We have been there several times and will come back in the future.

Very nice restaurant! Were here for a wedding reception. Everything was great. The food tasted very good, the service was very friendly and caring, the ambience was great, a beautiful view. The restaurant looks very well maintained and the toilets were also very clean. The entire wedding party was happy and satisfied. Thank you for the lovely evening!

My favorite restaurant in Herford, super good food and great service, always nice and very motivated. We ordered drinks and after 2 minutes they were already on the table. Delicious regional cuisine for decades. Perfect service that always keeps an overview, even with many guests. Classic veal schnitzel and fillet pan have been on the menu for ages.

Catastrophic. We were there for a funeral coffee. Cakes, sandwiches and rolls were ordered. There was no service at all. When we arrived nothing was prepared - this could be ignored because you can't always estimate exactly what time you'll arrive, but it took too long for the service to serve the things we ordered. Although we ordered different sandwiches, there were only Mettbrötchen. The bread consisted almost entirely of butter. The filter coffee wasn't good either. The service staff were not present once and were visibly overwhelmed by other companies. Of course, the service at a funeral coffee is different than at a “normal” restaurant visit, but you can at least expect that a waitress will be on site if you want to order a different drink or, for example, add bread. There were 4 or more water bottles on each table. Although many (!) bottles were not opened, they were all charged. In my experience, only the water bottles that have been opened are charged. Just like with the coffee pots - there were too many that weren't even opened. As a rule, you place fewer pots and refill them with fresh coffee. In a grieving situation you can overlook a lot of things, but it's not right. In the end, we wanted to pack up the cake that was left over since it was ultimately paid for. Based on the reaction of the staff, they probably didn't like it at all. We ended up having to pack the cake ourselves because the staff didn't care. You're happy when you can quickly find a way to have a funeral coffee in a grieving situation, but it's a real shame when you have the feeling that this is being taken advantage of. The price was €25 per person. Even if it's not a happy occasion, you're still a guest.

Wir waren im Mai 2024 mit 8 Personen dort zum Abendessen. Einen Tisch hatten wir im Vorfeld reserviert. Es dauerte 40 Minuten bis die Getränke serviert wurden. Das missfiel uns leider als Erstes, da es Standardgetränke waren wie Bier, Wasser, Cola etc. Nach weiteren 40 Minuten kamen dann endlich die Vorspeisensuppen, leider nur lauwarm. Die Spargelsuppe war geschmacklich ganz ok-mehr nicht. Die Rinderkraftsuppe war gefühlt und geschmeckt eine ziemlich versalzene Tütensuppe - und definitiv nicht aus Markknochen wie „Oma“ sie früher kochte. Die Hauptgerichte (diverse Spargelgerichte, Chili sin carne, Fisch und der Filettopf Steinmeyer) waren geschmacklich keine Explosion der Geschmacksnerven, sondern Durchschnitt. Die absolute Pleite waren leider die servierten Pommes und die Bratkartoffeln! Wir haben noch nie so etwas Versalzenes serviert bekommen. Ungenießbar. Wir hatten trotzdem einen geselligen Abend als Familie. Unsere Erwartungen, was das Essen und den Service betrifft wurden leider jedoch absolut nicht erfüllt. Schade !

From the beer garden you have a wonderful view over Herford to the Teutoburg Forest. The food is modern German cuisine that is worth seeing and tasting. You should bring a little time with you. In the afternoon there is only coffee and cake...

The view from the beer garden is the best thing I experienced in this restaurant. I was there with someone to enjoy a delicious meal. Nothing came of it. After a short time, the waitress came to other customers and collected money there. But he also saw us. After another 45 minutes of waiting, there was still no service. I find it disgraceful. I was hoping for more. But once is enough for me. Thanks for nothing.

We were there with a group to eat asparagus. 2 sticks of asparagus (per person and some woody) with side dishes for 32 euros. Once and never again. Service also left a lot to be desired.

Mittagstisch trotz Reservierung 1 Stunde 40 h Wartezeit, vom Kellner kam keine Info das mit so einer langen Wartezeit zu rechnen ist. Qualität des Essens sollte für den Preis 29€ besser sein ( Fisch trocken, grüner Spargel sehr hart ). Suppe nicht heiß, Kaffee halbe Tasse . Man hat als Gast nicht den Eindruck Willkommen zu sein. Das Lokal hatten wir schon mal besser in Erinnerung. Nur für eine schöne Aussicht lohnt der Besuch nicht. Schulnote : Note gerade noch ausreichend.

We were there for dinner with our foreign guests on Friday, May 18, 2024. Service OK. The boss simply turns away after seeing us. 5 meals, asparagus ✓ schnitzel ✓ and a salad 🥗 came almost at the same time. Only almost.... Schnitzel was perfect, the sauce was unfortunately lukewarm. During the meal, the tables 5 meters away were loudly pushed over and crazy. The artificial flowers wobbled on the table. For a Friday evening (around 7 p.m.) there were surprisingly few guests there.

Family celebration at Steinmeyer... The preliminary conversation was super friendly and we received very good advice and tips. On the day of the celebration everything went well. The food was great, the service staff were incredibly friendly and patient. The birthday “child” and all guests were very satisfied. You couldn't get more stars, an all-round successful day! Wir sind durch den Wald zu diesem Restaurant gekommen und waren arg mitgenommen. Aber der Weg hatte sich gelohnt! Spitzenlaune beim Service und der Koch hat auch sein Bestes gegeben. Wir hatten einen langen, wunderbaren Abend mit extrem leckerem Essen und viel guten Wein dazu. Danke dafür!

Hallo Der Kaffee ☕️ schmeckt sehr gut und auch der Kuchen oder die Torten schmeckt sehr gut. Wir waren am vergangenen Samstag dort und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Auch die Trauerfeier, die wir dort hatten war schön.

Die Ochsenbäckchen und das Rinderfiletsteak waren ein Traum. Vor allem dir Saucen/Jus haben es uns angetan. Der Service war wirklich top. Die Nachspeise, Creme Brulee, war sehr enttäuschend. Auch der Cappuccino war nicht wirklich gut. Die Bratkartoffeln waren auch nicht knusprig. Würden wieder kommen, weil die Hauptspeisen an sich sehr gut waren.

War da gestern zum Gänsebraten essen,ein Genuss aber auch nicht ganz billig, vorher informieren. Der Blick auf Herford ist mega gut genau wie die Qualität des Gänsebraten

Wenn ich sechs Sterne geben könnte, würde ich es tun! Just Loved this pleace! Ich lebe in Berlin und gehe ansonsten gerne ins Borchardt oder auch Ryotei 893 und dieses Lokal gefühlt im Niergendwo kann definitiv mithalten. Die Gerichte waren on Point, enorm gute Fleischqualität, wirklich perfekter Garpunkt, perfekt gebratenes Rinderfilet und das bei jeder Person einer größeren Gruppe, hab ich in der Form selten erlebt, beeindruckend und zeugt von einer generellen hohen Qualität dieses Lokales, meiner Meinung nach. Selbst Dinge wie Standard Rosmarinkartoffeln, waren ein Highlight. Ein weiterer positiver Punkt ist die Vielfalt der Gerichte. Ich mag es gerne, wenn ich ein leckeres Wiener Schnitzel essen kann und gleichzeitig aber auch Tunfisch -Sashimi als Vorspeise wählen kann. In dem seltensten Fällen kann ein Lokal beides in hoher Geschmacksqualität und hat meist eine Richtung oder eine Speise, die das Restaurant auszeichnet. Hier zeichnet meiner Meinung nach genau dieser Punkt das Lokal aus, dass jedes Gericht in Perfektion serviert wird. Fusion Küche auf dem Dorf in Perfektion mit Klassikern wie Pasta aus dem Parmesanleib oder perfekt on Point gegrillten Garnelen, schmeckten wie in Süditalien. Wirklich ohne Übertreibung erste Sahne der Laden und eine echte Überraschung, so ein Juwel in NRW auf einem Berg, umgeben von Wald und Wiese, zu entdecken. 100% zu empfehlen! You Need to try, wenn man mal nicht gerade das Borcherdt um die Ecke hat :)

Wer hier auf der Terrasse einen Tisch reserviert, hat einen traumhaften Ausblick über ganz Herford. Das Essen ist hochwertig und lecker. Die Servicemitarbeiter aufmerksam und freundlich. Und für Feiern mit überschaubarer Größe ist der Saal bestens geeignet. Immer wieder schön hier!

Eigentlich ein schönes Restaurante mit tollen Ausblick. Das Sonntagsmenü gibt es leider nicht mehr. Die Preise haben ordentlich angezogen, dafür ist die Qualität o.k., aber Preis- Leistung passt nicht ganz. Das Essen eher wenig gewürzt, der Service o.k.
