As first-time visitors, we found the food to be more expensive than at comparable restaurants. To assess the quality, we initially placed a half order. As we were not satisfied with the food, we chose not to order a second round. We also ordered five drinks. If your service is contingent on drink orders, we kindly suggest including this information on your menu. It is worth noting that not everyone wishes to order a drink, and it is not a prerequisite for dining. Having visited over 15 restaurants, we have never been denied onions, and if it is considered a salad item, it should be listed on the menu. We were asked to pay 5 euros for a plate of sliced onions, which we found to be an unreasonable price. It is a not your restaurant

Absolutely delicious, I'd love to come back again and again. Great atmosphere with cool music. The house cocktail is highly recommended. The dishes are prepared in the traditional style – it couldn't be better.

We stumbled upon Shalimar by chance and were not disappointed. Delicious food, super friendly service, and a slightly kitschy Bollywood atmosphere.

The food was really good, definitely recommended. The service was a bit slow that night. The waiter took the order without writing it down, had to have it again to write it down. Still, they forgot my mother's drinks. Mega cool decor, nice chairs to sit on, the lighting was just bright enough.

I walked a long way during tea time just to drink or enjoy an Indian chai, and the restaurant had good reviews. After learning that I only wanted a chai, the waiter told me that the tables were reserved exclusively for guests ordering main courses. He told me to either order a main course or leave the restaurant—even though several tables were free. Even when I asked for takeout, I was refused. A money-oriented restaurant that is not customer-focused. Disappointed with this restaurant. Not recommended!

Last night, I went to the restaurant with a friend. I don't usually write reviews, but these might have been the most inattentive servers I've ever experienced. While taking an order at the next table, one of the servers simply placed his tray on our table. Another took our order with a terribly annoyed attitude and a completely expressionless expression. The same server later asked us to go to the cashier, even though we had specifically requested to pay the bill at the table. The owner exclusively looked after a large family during our entire stay. Unfortunately, we had to put up with the unfriendly servers. The food was okay—but if it were just about the food, we could have cooked at home. Food: ⭐⭐⭐ Ambience: ⭐⭐ Service: ⭐ I hope the owner learns to give all guests the same attention and hires staff who understand what good service means.

Visited Bremen in May 2025, happened to have lunch at this place. It was a veggy day for us and we ordered Dal Makhni, Bhindi Do pyaza with Naan. We just loved it. We would have loved to visit again and we did to try something more. Definitely worth a visit to try authentic Indian food in Bremen

On our first trip to Bremen we went to the Indian restaurant Shalimar. We were very kindly offered a table on the sidewalk. The food was fantastic and nothing could be faulted. At first the waiter tried very hard to fulfill all the guests' wishes. However, there was one small complaint: we waited about 10 minutes for the payment even though we had told three people we would. We then had to pay in the restaurant even though the waiter said he would come to our table. The promised free schnapps at the end of the meal was not brought after 15 minutes, so we left the restaurant. It's not about the promised schnapps, it's about when you promise something like that you can keep your promise... otherwise the food was once again top-notch and I would recommend it.

I go there at least once a month... Do I need to say anything else? Ah yes, vegan options available super tasty too! I always over eat because it's delicious and good quality.

Went with 3 friends in need of a meal after a long drive. Food - so tasty and flavoursome but the best feature was the value. In UK, rice and poppadoms are extra. Not here, all included so a wonderful surprise. Finished off with a nice complimentary drink. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We hope to return again.

Unfortunately we didn't enjoy the visit. Although the staff was friendly, the atmosphere and the food were not convincing. It's reminiscent of Indian-style fast food. The food was quickly at the table. The meat on the mixing plate was dry throughout, the lamb was even tough and streaked with tendons, i.e. neither fillet nor back - remained on the plate along with the chicken. The complaint when paying was noted and that was it. Overall annoying.

Food was good, mango lassi was very good but please stay away from Kulfi Dedo! Asking €7 for it is very bold.

Naan cannot be chosen optimally, but must be purchased separately. -Ventilation in the restaurant doesn't work. It was very hot and stuffy, even though it was quite cool outside. (we are getting a new air conditioner soon) -Toilets are not particularly nice, not particularly clean. Low standard.

Today, we visited the restaurant around 7:00 pm, being Indians , we were so happy to see the interiors, food quality was also good, but when Mr. Aulakh told us before starting the dining, that without ordering drinks they don't allow, we clarified that ok we will dine somewhere else as we don't want drinks but only food, later out of courtesy he gave us a table, after we finished our food, during paying the bill he says this is the cheapest bill of the day , we generally don't allow to sit without drinks, I mean as out of Indian dining etiquettes, after feeding the guests(we ordered two meals, separate for each other and additionally a tandoori roti) this is NOT the the right way of acknowledging them while bidding them goodbye, we had clearly told him we won't order drinks even before sitting for dining, where in he said that's ok , this is not good Mr.Aulakh, you might have served many, but don't repeat this with anyone else . Very good food, rich, again and again

A very great evening. We were warmly welcomed by the boss personally. The staff immediately took care of every request and was particularly friendly beyond the usual. Papadam and chutney, as well as dessert, were free. Everything was made in-house, even the ice cream. The quality of the food was so good that we will go back to Bremen just because of the food and the experience. The 90 minute drive is worth it. Clear recommendation. 🙂

We reserved a table at 7:15 p.m. When we arrived at 7:21 p.m. (!), our table was given elsewhere. Absolute disgrace!! The restaurant's response below is NOT applicable. My friend had reserved the table and we were NOT offered another table because our table was already taken and all other tables were occupied.

Eigentlich schreibe ich keine Bewertungen, da sie in der Regel subjektiv und somit irreführend sind. Hier mache ich allerdings eine Ausnahme. Wir waren Silvesterabend dort und statt a la carte gab es ein Menü für 40 € pro Nase ohne Getränke. Für uns hat hier überhaupt nichts gepasst. Service / Bedienung: völlig empathielos und gleichgültig. Ohne Sinn für guten Service. Essen: langweilig und geschmacklos. Vermutlich vorgekocht. Die Suppe schmeckte fade und einfallslos. Das Hauptgericht war verkocht, geschmacksarm und nicht ansatzweise authentisch. Der Nachtisch ( Eis ) war geschmacklich so lala. Alles im allem war die Enttäuschung groß.

Today, I arrived at the restaurant at 1:00 PM for lunch, which is served until 2:30 PM. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived, but we were told that we could only order takeaway. Despite this, my boyfriend and I decided to stay, ordered our food, and paid. As we were waiting for our takeaway, a couple walked in and was seated. Shortly after, another couple arrived and was also given a table and served. Confused, we asked the waitress why they were being served while we were only offered takeaway. He told us it was because they had reservations, which was clearly not the case. We visit this restaurant at least 1–2 times per month because we really enjoy the food and want to support local businesses. However, nothing justifies the way we were treated today. The staff has never been particularly friendly, but they’ve always been polite enough. Considering that they know we’re regulars, we don’t understand why they decided not to serve us this time. We are never coming back again!
