Restaurant SARAYam in Berlin

Our first visit was based on the existing reviews, but I can't understand the positive feedback regarding the quality of the food. The quality of the rice and the kebabs didn't meet our expectations at all. Despite the low occupancy, the wait for the food was unreasonably long.

We had dinner at the Saray Restaurant and loved every minute. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was simply delicious—so good that we stayed for over three hours. Thank you to the whole team for making this evening so special for us!🙏❤️

Friendly and helpful service. Interesting dishes, including rice and spiced Iranian dishes. I also recommend the excellent tea. The restaurant is located very close to the palace and park complex in Charlottenburg. I hope to return ;)

This restaurant, conveniently located right next to the Charlottenburg Palace grounds, is easily accessible by foot. If you plan a morning tour, you can reach it swiftly for lunch. As a vegetarian, I often set low expectations, but this place truly exceeded my expectations. I savored a delightful Eggplant Stew paired with saffron rice—the most delectable saffron rice I’ve ever had. The stew was simply amazing, and the eggplant was tender. Their marinated tofu was equally impressive. While the restaurant offers a lunch buffet, it doesn’t have many vegetarian options. If you’re in the area, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Unfortunately, our experience today on our first visit was anything but good. The service was extremely poor, or even nonexistent. It wasn't busy, and despite taking orders, only one of two drinks arrived. The food was okay, but not fresh. The salad was brown, and the dips were soggy and not as per the menu (it was supposed to contain walnuts and raisins, but there was half a walnut, not raisins). My girlfriend had a stomach ache afterward. When we paid (after asking three times), the waiter simply entered a 15% tip on the card machine... We won't be back. What a shame.

As a Persian and a tourist in Berlin, I found this restaurant through a recommendation on Google. I have tried Persian food in other European cities before, such as Hamburg, Budapest, and most of the Persian restaurants in the Copenhagen area. I can say this is the best: the quality, the large portion sizes, the Persian-style decoration, and the friendly behavior. We had a fun time. Thank you!

The food was delicious, and the servers were very friendly. The portions were huge, but if you can't finish it, they take it to go.

I was unfortunately very disappointed with the buffet. The food was cold, there was very little choice, and we had to wait a long time for meat dishes like kebabs or chicken to be refilled. There was neither understanding nor an apology, just the comment: "Then just write it down." This kind of behavior is neither in keeping with Iranian hospitality nor with what I'm used to from German restaurants. I sincerely hope that you take this feedback seriously and improve in the future.

We've had raw meat several times now. After pointing this out several times, it was still not taken into account and we had to pay the full price. There wasn't even an apology for it.

Beautifully designed restaurant. Seating area only inside. The tables and chairs weren't particularly good, the table was wobbling. I've been here several times before but this time I tried the buffet for €20. It looked very small, but all the important dishes were there. The taste is also very good. Drinks are not included in the buffet. So I can recommend it!

The food was good and worth the price and the ambience was really nice. Not really many options if you are vegan. But recommended if you want to try somethin other than Pizzas, Pasta and Döners.

In the 2nd week of April we wanted to spend a nice evening with 4 people in Saray with Persian cuisine, which is famous for its variety and taste. At the end of the evening, disappointment prevailed for us. Our table reservation, which we made a few days in advance using the restaurant's own system on the website, could not be found. Luckily it wasn't full and we were given a table in the middle of the restaurant near the cloakroom. There are nicer tables here. The starters we ordered (hummus, tabbouli salad) with small flatbreads, the khoresht with chicken leg and eggplant and the famous Persian saffron-pistachio ice cream as dessert were very tasty. The “spicy” lentil soup, on the other hand, was bland and watery, the lamb skewers needed to be grilled more visible and tastier, and the lamb flatbread was undercooked and soggy. The service was far from oriental cordiality and seemed listless. The Saray could do much more with itself; It doesn't even come close to fulfilling the potential that lies within it. Too bad.

If you like Persian food, I can recommend this restaurant. Very tasty, authentic Persian dishes!

The restaurant is nice. The portion size and the price are good, BUT unfortunately the taste is not convincing. The meat was ok, but even though it was advertised as being seasoned, it wasn't a bit. The rice is a dry affair and so is the salad with the ready-made dressing (pretty bland). The waiters aren't particularly attentive either. Card payment is possible.

We stumbled upon Saray – Persian Kitchen in Charlottenburg by chance and decided to have a coffee instead of eating. It was a great surprise! The staff was super nice and accommodating, and the coffee was really tasty. We sat outside and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere - definitely a relaxed place to visit again. The restaurant definitely makes you curious about Persian food, and we will definitely try it next time!

It was my first time there and I was disappointed. The bread was delicious. The rice was good too. The chicken fillet was very firm. It was salty. The minced lamb skewer was not good. It was inedible. This tasted very close to fatty. The Ashreshte was extremely tasty and extremely good. It tasted like Grandma's. I ordered room temperature water but got cold water instead. Very disappointing. Very very bad restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this.

We had the pleasure of visiting this Persian restaurant and we absolutely love it! As soon as we entered the restaurant we felt comfortable thanks to the warm and inviting atmosphere. The furnishings are tasteful and convey an authentic Persian flair. The food was simply fantastic! The dishes were fresh, lovingly prepared and perfectly seasoned. I would particularly like to highlight the delicate kabab and the delicious starters such as the creamy Kashk-e Bademjan and the refreshing Mast-o-Khiar. The saffron rice dishes were also an absolute highlight. The service was first class - friendly, attentive and very accommodating. You immediately felt like you were in good hands. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience Persian cuisine at its best. An absolute must for gourmets and friends of oriental cuisine. We'll definitely be back!

PRO: Tried all the Persian restaurants in the city. This one is the best in terms of quality and price. The team is very nice and I come here almost every week now. CONS: Unfortunately there is no parking in front of the restaurant and it closes at 11 p.m.

Overall, the food was just mediocre. Chelokabab Soltani in particular the meat was lukewarm, the starter Kashkbademdjan (eggplant paste) had nothing to do with the original dish. We also had a vegetarian dish, which was delicious. What really bothered us was the smell of smoke and cooking that spread throughout the restaurant.

Very nice little restaurant with a separate lounge to relax and enjoy tea. This was our first visit to a Persian restaurant. The food was top and wholesome. The recommended red wine also went well with the food. The staff was very attentive, friendly and overall a good atmosphere in the restaurant. We had a vegetarian with us who also got her money's worth. The toilets are in the basement. I haven't seen an alternative for wheelchair users - please just ask. It's worth it!

The food is really tasty and successful but the waiter first asked if we can pay with cash and we said yes. Then he came and told me the receipt was 37.5€ and i gave him 40€ and 2.5€ was the tip. Then I realised when he still was on the table that I paid more than I was supposed to. And since he was not able to speak English well, my Persian friend helped me to make him understand the situation. After the solution, my Persian friend told me that the waiter told my friend that I was okay with paying 40€? I mean even if I am fine with it, you are still obliged to tell me the correct amount of what I am supposed to pay. You should be careful when you PAY THE RECEIPT OBVIOUSLY THERE. For this matter I am really sorry because it was one of mu favourite restaurants to go…

I’ve been to this restaurant several times, but my experiences have consistently been disappointing. The service is poor, and the food is often not what I ordered. On some occasions, I was even charged for items I didn’t order, with the staff claiming it was acceptable because the prices were the same. The cleanliness is also an issue—particularly the toilets, which are not well-maintained. It’s always unpleasant to go there just to wash my hands. One of the servers, a woman, has been rude and unfriendly during my visits, making the experience even worse. What’s more concerning is how the management handles feedback. If you leave a review on Google highlighting their service issues, they respond harshly, accusing reviewers of lying. You can see examples of the owner’s defensive and accusatory replies under other low-rated reviews.

I can't understand the good reviews to be honest. The service was nice but ignored countless orders, two people's drinks came way too late even though the food was already in front of them. The waiter didn't ask if we needed anything else. We first had to ask for new cutlery because it went into the kitchen with the starter plates. At some point we put the plates together ourselves because they were in our way. The waiter gave you everything as if he didn't know any different. We had to actively draw attention to ourselves even though the store was empty except for another small group. A colleague got his meal when everyone else had already finished. There was no excuse for it, he still paid the full price. I give 2 stars for the service because ordering via the online booking system was so uncomplicated and an older man put a few chocolate balls on the table for our Christmas party. We weren't asked if it was tasty or if everything was OK. On the contrary, we were still looked at strangely because we paid by card and didn't have any cash with us. For this mush in the picture 14.90 (added rice and a dollop of mint yoghurt.) I paid 35 euros, €7.90 for semi-cold eggplant cream with a little bread. (The baskets were not filled either.) Addendum: The response to my criticism not only shows racist nature but does not address the criticism. Instead, this is insulted in a personal way. For this I withdraw my 2 stars.

After waiting around 1 hour to 1.5 hour and by our following up they said "sorry we were busy and we are not prepared your food!!" and they didn't give anything to us and we went out without eating anything with no acceptable appologize (even we paid for our drinks while most of them even not used yet). Worst ever service. The person serving the food was pretending like she is doing us a favour. Forgot the salad, brought it after we had our dinner. Was showing tantrums on the counter after taking our order. Like she literally threw the menu back at counter after taking the order from us.

Interestingly, I received an email from Google that the restaurant owner made a complaint about my review. It’s so interesting that I see instead of trying to improve their customer service, they are trying to erase the problem. They even deleted their rude reply to my review.

Die Mitarbeiter waren freundlich. Das Essen didn't convince me. Das Mahiche had einen starken Fettgeschmack, which was unpleasant, and the Bakhtiari-Kebab could have been better. Zum Schluss war der Baklava-Teller überhaupt nicht frisch! The staff were friendly. But I was not completely satisfied with the food. The muscle tasted too much of fat which was not pleasant, and the bakhtiari kebab could have been better. Finally, the baklava plate was not fresh at all!

We discovered this shop spontaneously while passing by and were excited about the Persian cuisine. The location next to Charlottenburg Palace is very nice. The service was friendly, but it took a little longer to be served. We found the food okay, but not particularly good. The naan bread didn't taste fresh, the side salad had no taste at all and some of the lamb was very tough. The price is okay for the location and the fresh mint tea was also very tasty.

This food in this photo and in this restaurant tastes amazing, and it’s the main reason I keep coming back to this restaurant! The other dishes are decent, but nothing particularly special. The staff are generally fine, but some of them can get a bit short-tempered at times. The atmosphere feels a bit gloomy, mostly due to the music they play. Still, I would recommend visiting just to try the dish in the photo- it’s definitely worth it.

Persian cuisine is something new for me and I had to be told how to eat the stew. The service did this happily and with a lot of love. This Persian stew has very little to do with what we normally know in Germany and it is super tasty and since you get fresh spices you can always create new flavors yourself. The price is completely justified and it's just something different. The atmosphere is lovely and in my opinion there is nothing to complain about.

Today was not our first day at the Saray and like every time we enjoyed our time there, we had great Kababs, Koobideh and chenje. Everytime we are there we enjoy talking and socializing with great behavior staff there.

We often eat here and enjoy it. If you know delicious Persian food or want to try it, you've come to the right place. The waitresses are always very friendly. You also have a beautiful view of Charlottenburg Palace.

Unfortunately the owner has changed. I was there two years ago and it was great. Unfortunately that has changed with the new owner. The food tasted very tasty. The service was a complete disaster. Language and communication problems. Forgot my order and spilled the whole cocktail on myself. An apology was made, but that was it. I expected compensation in the form of a free drink. Unfortunately that didn't happen. Based on my experience, I will no longer visit the Sarayam restaurant and will not recommend it to anyone else. If you are not familiar with service and service staff, it is better to open a snack bar without service staff.

I have driven by this restaurant multiple times. But sadly never came in, until it was recommended by a friend. Do not make my mistake- this is very very good Iranian. One of the best kubedeh in Berlin, excellent rice. Service was personal and friendly.

Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience. The service was very bad. The waitresses only come when called and cannot wait. The starter was forgotten, but was then on the bill. One of the two main courses was only lukewarm. Unfortunately there was still a fly in the food and the toilets could also be cleaner. Therefore it is unfortunately not recommended.

I was at Saray yesterday with colleagues and can only recommend it. We had some appetizers that we shared. We did the same with the main course and dessert. It's really worth trying out several dishes. The quality and taste is very good. The Seytun Parvardeh (olives in pomegranate sauce with walnuts and herbs) was particularly delicious. For the main course, we had chicken, lamb kebab and lamb fillet, I found it remarkable that the meat was very tender and not dry at all. Not every restaurant can say that. Be sure to try saffron ice cream for dessert. Anyone who likes dates also likes date ice cream. The prices are absolutely fair.

The service is terribly bad. I have never had to experience anything like today in a restaurant. There were only 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant. Still, it took 15 minutes for one of the waiters to take our orders. The waiter then apologized because we had been forgotten. After another 25 minutes of waiting, only the water was brought. We only ordered 2 salads and soup and a rice dish. A large group arrived after us and after 10 minutes they received kebabs, bread, salad and tea. Our table was still empty. We left and the waiters didn't even try to make up for the situation. In total we were there for 40 minutes and the two of us only got 1 glass of water. We won't eat here again!

Unfortunately, on the third visit to the restaurant, the card payment didn't work (with German Visa cards). The addition here in brackets to the cards because we were told our card is a foreign Visa card. (Cash had to be withdrawn at the nearest ATM, a 27 euro fee was paid). The card works everywhere in Europe and afterwards we tried it out in the late shop next door. Visa cards, whether foreign or not, work worldwide. And especially cards from India are among the leaders in the world. The device simply has a problem. And you know this because the waitress asked three times before paying if we could pay with cash. Waiters are very inattentive and very absorbed in their conversations, yet friendly and polite. Unfortunately, it's no longer worth another visit. There are definitely better restaurants that offer Persian food with good to very good service.

We ordered appetizer plates and koubide. It was nice and juicy and well seasoned and very tasty. The service could be faster and a little more attentive. All in all we were satisfied and would like to come back :)

Simply a pleasure! The rice is incredibly aromatic and fluffy. Well seasoned, juicy meat. The herb plate (Sabzi) goes perfectly with the hearty meal. The service was impeccable and the price was absolutely fair for the quality and portion size offered.

The Persian restaurant "Saray" is a true gem! The service is incredibly friendly and attentive. The quality of the food leaves nothing to be desired – every dish is a taste experience. Great care is taken in cooking in the kitchen, which is clearly noticeable in the freshness and aroma of the food. The grilled dishes are particularly delicious, with tender and juicy meat that literally melts in your mouth. The location is also perfect for special occasions - an all-round successful place for an unforgettable culinary evening.

I arrived at 2:03 p.m. At 2:35 p.m. there was still no order taken. After the card was given I was forgotten for over 20 minutes. As far as can be seen, 3 other tables were occupied by 2 people each. Guests should not be forgotten in this way. I remember the food was good in 2020. Therefore I spent 1 hour traveling there and back plus over 30 minutes waiting time for hassle.

We had a best moment in your restaurant, staffs were very friendly, the service was perfect, we ordered two different dishes and each one was sooooo delicious, I’m really happy for choosing you and will come back to try other dishes 🙏🏻😊

Wonderful place to eat and have a cozy get-together. The service (thanks to the young man) was excellent. He was very accommodating, polite and always had a smile on his face. The atmosphere is orientally cozy, we sat at a round table. It was very spacious so you didn't feel cramped. The food was fantastic. For me there was tabouli and herb omelette. A dream💓 Thank you for the excellent food. The prices are affordable, value for money is right in my opinion. Definitely worth another visit. Charlottenburg Palace opposite invites you to take a digestive walk. :)

My son and I have food poisoning after our visit yesterday.

Nice persian restaurant near the Palace. The interiors are nicely decorated in persian theme and tables are set up in white cloths which adds a fine touch. I tried Lamb shank with baghali polo , the portion of meat was so huge that I got to pack the rest. The meat was very tender and well cooked , however my Indian palate wanted more spice and I take the blame for it. Honestly I can't judge how nice it was as I don't know much about the cuisine. My friends had the minced meat kebab with saffron rice which was nice , however the vegetarian dish with aubergine was bit boring for him. There are no options for soy meat or tofu to add to the protein content in the menu which didnot not suit him. We tried a pot of tea to finish off our meal . The staff is very helpful as he explained the menu with lot of patience and helped with suggestions . I would like to come back for trying more from the persian cuisine.
