Restaurant Samos in Elmshorn

Truly a success! We (2 adults & 2 children - 2 and 3) weren't expecting, as is typical for long-time Hamburg residents: skeptical, to find such a restaurant in Elmshorn. But what can we say... We were convinced otherwise, but with a sense of optimism! And we'll definitely be back! The food was delicious, hot, the ambiance quiet, beautiful, yet lively. Overall, simply wonderful! Truly! Thank you so much for the wonderful evening.

In my opinion, this is the best gyro place. The service is great and the staff is very friendly.

A very nice, cozy atmosphere. The food was excellent. I had the gyro with noodles, and the Metaxa sauce was super delicious, and the dessert was incredible. Always worth a visit. ☺️ The staff were very friendly.

It was our first time at "Samos." It was a bit noisy when we first entered, but that quickly calmed down. The food was excellent, we really enjoyed it. The service was also great, attentive, and friendly. Highly recommended! We'll definitely come back to "Samos" sometime. It couldn't be better. Best Greek food I've tried. 5+ star ambiance and service. Food was just as good. Was the traffic jam in front of the Elbe Tunnel worth it. And yes, we were there again without the Elbe Tunnel traffic jam 😁 Only satisfied customers come back. We are satisfied and will come back.

I went with my girlfriend; we made a last-minute reservation during the week. The staff were professionally trained and very friendly. A greeting from the kitchen. There were also quite a few older people. We were the only young people there (20-21). We got a table in the middle, but we still didn't feel like we were being watched. The food was great! Except for my Coke; I probably got one that had been open a bit longer and had a little less fizz. Otherwise, I was really impressed; you're not used to that for Elmshorn, such a good overall package. I highly recommend it.

Today we wanted Greek food and ended up at Samos in Elmshorn. We've ordered and picked up food there during the coronavirus pandemic, but haven't eaten in yet. And what can I say: this is now our favorite Greek restaurant in Elmshorn. Thanks for the great food and the excellent service.

Elegant ambiance: high-quality table linens; cutlery, glasses, and napkins stylish and elegant. No kitsch. Absolutely beautiful. We received excellent service and were seated two times despite not having a reservation. The food was delicious, the portions were adequate—not too much, not too little. The value for money was excellent. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back.

The food and service were very good; there's absolutely nothing to complain about. However, I find the COVID-19 measures and the general attitude toward the topic questionable. We felt very uncomfortable, as the tables were so close together that I could have touched three strangers with my half-outstretched arm. There's virtually no ventilation, and the waiter's greeting, "You don't need a mask here," doesn't exactly inspire trust. While Elmshorn (or Schleswig-Holstein) has more relaxed regulations than other German states due to the low incidence, the subjective impression of whether you feel safe and comfortable also counts, and unfortunately, that wasn't the case for us. I'm not particularly afraid of COVID-19 anymore (thanks in part to the vaccination), but even before the COVID-19 pandemic, I would have complained that it was far too crowded and stuffy. Does that really have to be the case during the pandemic? What a shame! We felt uncomfortable here and probably won't come back. // Response to the owner's feedback: Thank you for your detailed feedback. You're absolutely right in principle, but no one checked our vaccination certificates that evening, which is why we feared that other guests might not have been checked either. I'm happy to have increased my star rating to three, but unfortunately, I can't give more than that for a restaurant I won't be returning to. Even under normal circumstances, it would be far too crowded and cramped, completely apart from the coronavirus situation. A pleasant evening would look different. // My final response: No, we were already there last Saturday. Your waiter handed us the menu, took our drinks, and left. Truly delicious food, at a reasonable and absolutely fair price. The draft cellar beer (a Zwickel) is very drinkable. The service is fast and attentive. Nothing is left to be desired. Pure enjoyment.

The portions were a good size. The quality of the meat was very good. It was juicy, tender, and low in fat. Compared to other Greek restaurants, it was rather lightly seasoned, which brought out the delicious meat flavor. The fries were average, but the spice mix was tasty and original. The tzatziki was clearly homemade, but could have used a bit more garlic. The staff were very friendly, and we received our food about half an hour after ordering. We made a reservation in advance, so we didn't have to wait. The decor was very nice. "Typical" Greek style with an aquarium in the middle of the restaurant. Everything looked very clean, uniform, and well-maintained. Unfortunately, all the lights were on even in daylight, so it was a bit glaring. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant; we will definitely be back.

Quite spontaneously, we reserved a table for two on my birthday. I was surprised by other friends outside the restaurant, and despite the restaurant being quite busy, we all managed to get a nice seat. We went there with friends; four people in total. Everyone was completely satisfied. Everyone had a different dish, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was attentive and prompt. Randomly chosen on one of our tours. Friendly, attentive service. The ambiance is standard, but with a Greek touch. The salad is standard, and the dressing is nothing special, and a bit lacking for my taste. An olive or something similar would enhance it. So, now let's get started. On the main street, small and easily overlooked. Nevertheless, they managed to create a peaceful space. The Pythagoras plate with Greek rice was amazing. The rice was cooked to perfection and served with a delicious sauce; the satziki was definitely homemade, creamy and excellently seasoned. The gyro was tender and classically seasoned, but not as strongly as you'd expect. This allowed the flavor of the meat to still be clearly perceptible. The ground beef steak was perfectly seasoned and also really juicy. Here, you can tell that the well-being of the guest is their top priority. Even though it's over 100km away from us, we'll remember this restaurant. It's best to make a reservation, as you're not always lucky enough to get a seat there. And we know why 😉 Thanks to the service staff and chefs. Keep up the good work.

As a nice gesture for my birthday, I was given a dessert with a candle, and the staff congratulated me – that was truly very heartfelt. I am very grateful to everyone. The lamb fillet Metaxa was delicious. For us old people, the portion size is always enough for two. Picking up is no problem because of the many parking spaces in the immediate vicinity.

The time is now limited to 2 hours. You will be explicitly informed of this when you make your reservation by telephone. When paying, there is another note saying “you still have a few minutes left”. We found this to be a rude bouncer. Inappropriate, not just because the amount of our tip. We had already figured it out when we made the reservation, and whoever pays is already on the move and won't be sitting any longer. In addition, the next guests were not yet in front of our table. The restaurant was also quite full and noisy as every available inch was filled with tables. The service doesn't always keep up. You almost have to slalom walk to the washrooms. It's a shame, it takes away a lot of the actually nice atmosphere of this really, really good meal. Therefore unfortunately no 5 stars overall.

Yesterday we were in Samos in Elmshorn after a shopping trip. Rather inconspicuous from the outside, a cozy, appealing and nice atmosphere from the inside. We were greeted warmly and personally and felt welcome straight away, even though we hadn't made a reservation. The food was fresh and very tasty, the warm bread, the crispy salad, the cross gyros, the tomato rice..., tasty and wholesome... all in all to be recommended, we will definitely be there again soon!

A restaurant that has been popular for decades and is in close proximity to the old trotting track. Extensive map with a small section for children. Unfortunately, due to the poor acoustics, it is quite loud when the restaurant is busy.

This was our first time here. We were quite satisfied. The food was good and so were the cocktails. The price was just about OK. However, we would have liked a bit more attention from the waiters. They were all super nice and friendly. On top of that, the place was very busy. We would have bought an ouzo to pass the time, as we usually do at Greek restaurants. The aisles are also very narrow. Overall, it was tasty and good. The food was excellent.

Unfortunately, this Greek doesn't do justice to the reviews. I had very classic gyros with fries. Gyros 7/10, fries 5/10 not eaten, salad 4/10 little dressing and only mediocre and there wasn't even a pepperoni in the salad, bread 3/10 just boring. The restaurant itself is uncomfortable. There is no typical atmosphere here that you are used to in a Greek restaurant.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simply great! The service was extremely courteous, the steak was cooked to perfection and of excellent quality. Plus a top price-performance ratio. I had a really great experience and would love to come back!
