Absolutely positive impression of this Franconian inn/restaurant, from the reception to the entire service and the kitchen! It was our first time here - but not the last! All the seats in the dining room were taken on Sunday lunchtime - but the service was still absolutely attentive! When placing my order, I only casually mentioned (with a wink) that I would probably have to share some of the porcini mushroom soup with my wife. When the soup was served, a second spoonful was also included! There were several other touches that are standard here - but I certainly noticed them positively. No particular wait times - everything goes hand in hand here - a high proportion of regular customers who are even addressed by name. Well - what can I say - every euro you spend here is returned to the guests by the team with their hard work and passion for their job! I wish this team continued success and all guests a lot of fun and bon appetit

The roast pork in beer sauce was simply outstanding! The service was friendly and excellent. We felt completely at home. Thank you very much!

A lovely small and historic restaurant with average German food. The mushroom cream soup wasn’t creamy at all, but just thickened with lots of flour. There were barely any mushrooms or cream in it. The bratwurst skewers were nice, but the fries on the side were not the greatest in the world.

We had lunch there with our guests after our daughter's baptism. Both we and our guests were thrilled with the selection of dishes. There's a classic selection as well as a selection of more exclusive dishes, so there's truly something for EVERYONE without being overwhelmed by the choices. There's also a selection of vegetarian dishes. Our vegetarian guests found something truly delicious here as well and had a choice of several. The service was also first-class. The ladies were truly attentive, and our glasses never sat empty for long – fantastic. The food also arrived very promptly for everyone. The taste was simply soooo good. Every single one of our guests was absolutely impressed and delighted by the presentation and the taste of the food. We will definitely come back here and highly recommend it. Very delicious food, the dishes are beautifully presented and cooked to perfection every time. We had chicken, pork, liver, and fish, and everything was super tender. Very attentive and friendly service, a very appealing menu, seasonal, with vegetarian dishes and a strong focus on regional produce. We'd love to come back!

We had the opportunity to visit restaurants, making some detours along the way, and we didn't regret it. The dishes were exceptionally tasty, reflecting the local cuisine. The dumplings and meat dishes are worth trying and highly recommended.

As always, the dishes were perfect. The renovated guest room turned out beautifully. We always enjoy coming back.

We went to eat at the Roten Ross again today. Excellent service from start to finish. Great dishes and delicious food. We'd love to come back. It's a great place to eat as a family. The menu for kids is fantastic and the prices are great.

Despite the packed place, I managed to get a seat without a reservation. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating, drinks and food were served quickly, and the wait after ordering wasn't too long either. All the food was delicious, and the portions were generous. The value for money was absolutely spot on. I'd be happy to come back.

The entire staff is extremely polite and attentive. As a guest you feel as a guest should feel, namely valued. Short and sweet; Food good, staff extremely attentive and polite and a fitting ambience for a German quality restaurant!

Today we had lunch at the Roter Ross with 6 people. As always we were very satisfied. Franconian cuisine was excellent, we had carp fillet, Schäufele, onion roast, cheese spaetzle, all very tasty. Service as usual very friendly and very competent. And we had a lot of fun, thank you again for that. We'd love to come back.

I usually don’t like German food, but this restaurant changed my mind! They are cooking in a high level of taste, with balanced flavors and great presentation! I don’t suggest any specific dishes, because all what we tried, were just perfect, even the desserts I absolutely recommend this restaurant !!

A really nice visit to the restaurant. The service was friendly, courteous and on the ball - always a smile on the face. The food was really tasty and prepared quickly. The garlic soup could have just used a little more heat and garlic. Carp and dessert were really tasty and good portions. It's definitely not the last time I've been here - high praise.

Of the 4 Franconian inns still existing on the Altdorf market square, this is my favorite. The kitchen not only offers the rather heavy standard Franconian fare, but also surprises with many fresh ideas. Recommended!

The ambience and service were excellent. There is a special menu and a high chair for children. In addition, everyone on site is very fond of children and open-minded. The food came very quickly - high quality and taste. There is enough parking space in front of the door. Can only recommend the Red Ross in Altdorf.

We've been living in Altdorf since 2013, but for whatever reason, we've only now made it to the Red Ross. Fantastic food, wonderful service and a really nice ambience. Prices are ok for really good food. We'd love to come back.

With anticipation and quite high expectations, I was really positively surprised by the baked Franconian carp! An excellently prepared, crispy, juicy and extremely tasty animal, combined with fresh salad and delicious potato salad, served by attentive and really friendly staff! The price and size of the fin carrier are absolutely appropriate! Actually 6 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Yesterday at lunchtime we reserved a table and walked there from home. That's why we were there 15 minutes before the reservation and wanted - friendly!!!! - ask if the table happens to be free yet. The boss himself (!) sent us out in an arrogant, arrogant way with the words, a look and a finger pointing at his watch, that we would like to be there first. There were several free tables in the dining room itself. We are not familiar with the rules of gastronomy, what covers, covers or similar, BUT and especially then, as a host and owner you should communicate this in a customer-friendly way. Our consequence - we canceled the table and that was our last visit to the “Rotes Ross”

Please reserve in advance. We were really lucky that we got a table. The atmosphere is nice, the staff is very friendly and the food is tasty.

Landed in this restaurant spontaneously after a hike. Although not reserved, we were greeted nicely and politely. But it certainly wasn't a typical meal time. I can therefore only recommend reservation. The staff was super nice. The food is a poem. I felt very comfortable during my stay.

Been here several times and it's always been good! Atmosphere is good, the service is very nice and very attentive, but most importantly, the food tastes very good! The dishes are very lovingly decorated, and they have come up with something great for the dish. This means the food is never boring. I will happily eat there again.

Pure enthusiasm, highest recommendation. We got a place straight away on a Sunday evening without a reservation and were treated extremely friendly and courteously. The food was exceptional and we simply felt like we were in good hands, from the aperitif to the main course to the dessert. Huge praise (not only) to the kitchen! The only drawback: it was very difficult to decide. When it comes to the price, we really had a good time and I definitely don't regret a cent. Many thanks to the entire team!

I was given a voucher with a larger amount, but I couldn't redeem it in one amount. The amount that was not consumed was presented to me. Since I unfortunately didn't have the voucher with me on my last two visits, I wanted to have the remaining amount credited towards my consumption (it was twice as high as the remaining voucher). I was informed that the voucher has now expired and will no longer be accepted. Customer service (and satisfaction) looks different. As an “old” Altdorfer, I will no longer recommend the restaurant.

Went there to have lunch during a company visit to the nearby industrial area. Very good restaurant with friendly staff and a good selection of Franconian dishes. Food was very tasty. Priced at a normal level.

We have been regular guests at the “Red Ross” for many years. And we have therefore experienced many changes in the staff and the menu. But always: very tasty, very friendly, very service-oriented. A clear recommendation for every season!

I spontaneously saw that there were a few tables available outside and hadn't made a reservation. I got a table (traveling alone) and the staff came straight away and asked about the drinks. Friendly and attentive. The food was great, had chanterelles with bread dumplings and salad. It's comfortable to sit in and you can watch the hustle and bustle of the upper market.

Full points! That should mean something to me. At first I was skeptical because the menu is very extensive, but I was pleasantly surprised. The quality and portions are top. The side salad is impressive, the main course is extremely tasty and generous in size. The service is friendly, prompt and competent! Gladly again!!!!!

Very good food, very nice atmosphere. The next room was remodeled and the old brickwork was exposed and looks very nice. There are always seasonal delicacies as well as Franconian specialties. In summer there is also an outdoor area directly on the market square. We recommend.

The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, the staff attentive and friendly. But what really impressed me was a special experience that shows how much the staff here care about their guests. When we had to wait a bit to go to our table, a Schäuferla was carried past. I couldn't help but say out loud, "That looks delicious!" To my surprise, about 5 minutes later, a waiter came to our table and asked, even before we had ordered, whether he should reserve the last Schäuferla available for me. This thoughtfulness and foresight really impressed me! In short: everything fits here! Absolute recommendation! We'd love to come back!

We found the restaurant by chance while passing through. The welcome and table assignment by the gentleman behind the taps was “Bavarian” rude. The cellar was then very friendly and very competent. He was able to explain the dishes in detail and gave us great recommendations. The food came very quickly and was really great. Great creations. We can highly recommend this restaurant.

The service is TOP. The food was good, the wild garlic soup was chic to look at but tasted boring. You can eat there, definitely. However, the price-performance ratio has reached the upper end. That's why I'll do a taste test there again after a longer break.
