Aufmerksamer, freundlicher Service und sehr gutes Essen. Ich hatte seit langem keine so guten Matjes mit ausgezeichneten Beilagen mehr gegessen, auch die Fleischküchla waren frisch und gut gewürzt. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist wirklich okay.

Wir waren rundum begeistert! Das gesamte Personal war unglaublich freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich. Man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an willkommen. Das traditionelle fränkische Essen war hervorragend – frisch zubereitet, geschmacklich ausgezeichnet und mit viel Liebe angerichtet. Genau so stellt man sich gute regionale Küche vor. Ein großes Lob an das gesamte Team! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall sehr gerne wieder und können das Rote Ross uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

Essen sah super aus. Location auch. Wollte jedoch erstmal nur ein Weizen. Wurde nicht bedient wenn ich nicht auch Essen bestelle.

Unser Sohn (14 Jahre) war heute mit seinen Freunden dort Schnitzel essen, „fürs Gefühl (erwachsen sein)“. Vielen lieben Dank für die tolle Bedienung und die gute Küche. Die Jungs haben sich echt und wahrgenommen gefühlt. Eine großartige Erfahrung in ihrem Erwachsenwerden! Ach ja, das Essen ist sensationell! Vielen vielen Dank und auf bald :)

Wir waren sonntags zum Abendessen im Roten Ross . Ich hatte Käsespätzle und ich kann nur sagen wer die gewöhnlichen Gerichte außergewöhnlich gut macht der macht alles richtig 👍🏼 . Auch das Lachsforellenfilet meiner Frau verdient Lob. Der Kellner war aufmerksam und freundlich , wir waren zufrieden und kommen gerne wieder.

Auf einer Route als Alternative zu einem Autobahn-Restaurant gewählt hat sich der kurze Umweg wirklich gelohnt. Umgeben von historischer Architektur liegt das Traditionsrestaurant in malerischer Lage. Das Essen war sehr gut (wenn wir eine Kleinigkeit auszusetzen hätten, wäre es nur der Senf - da gibt es bessere. Der Service war auch bestens und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut. Wenn wir mal wieder in der Gegend sind und Hunger haben, kommen wir gerne wieder!

Waren spontan nach einer Wanderung dort: Sehr freundlich, schneller Service und essen auch sehr lecker.

Update: Wir waren gestern als Gruppe mit 9 Personen da. Das Essen war wieder erstklassig! Ein besonderes Highlight war der Service, repräsentiert durch Florian Riedner. Wie er die Bestellung aufnimmt, ohne sich Notizen zu machen - alles im Kopf, zudem auch unterhaltsam und freundlich (ich kann daher so manche negative Bewertung nicht nachvollziehen). Erneut wieder klare Empfehlung. Freundlicher Empfang, hervorragender Service, Bedienung top, Essen sehr gut. Klare Empfehlung.

Anlass war die Nürnberger Spielwarenmesse, wir wohnten 8 Tage in Altdorf und hatten Gelegenheit die Gastronomie ausgiebig zu testen. Zusammengefasst: Super! Nun zum roten Ross. Ambiente, wie in einer fränkischen Gastronomie üblich, nett aber unaufdringlich, nicht im Gedächtnis bleibend. Zum Essen und Service gab es nichts auszusetzen. Wir waren insgesamt dreimal da. Jedes Mal war das Essen ausgezeichnet. Das Scheufela, auf das ich mich jedes Jahr freue, war ein Gedicht, die anderen Essen ebenfalls sehr gut. Sehr gute fränkische Küche. Besondere Erwähnung findet der Kellner, sagt man das heute noch? Tobias. Cooler Typ, immer einen guten (passenden) auflockernden Spruch. Tolle Beratung beim Whiskey. Mein junger Mitarbeiter bestellt ihn auf Eis, was jedem Kenner bei einem guten Whiskey die Panik ins Gesicht treibt. Unaufgeregt gab es die Erklärung, dass das Getränk das Eis nicht verdient hätte und so wurde ohne probiert und für gut befunden. Kann dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen. Ja, es ist von den Restaurants in der Reihe das Teuerste, aber im Gesamtpaket geht das für mich in Ordnung. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir haben kurzfristig für Sonntag Mittag einen Tisch für 4 Personen bekommen. Das Restaurant ist in einige Räume aufgeteilt. Es ist genügend Platz. Der Service war super. Sehr freundlich und auch schnell. Auf der Speisekarte findet jeder etwas Leckeres. Mein Sauerbraten war richtig gut. Ich kann das Restaurant auf jeden Fall empfehlen. Fotos hab ich leider keine - der Hunger war zu groß. 🙂

Amazing local restaurant. I was not convinced of German food until my husband took me here, and the food here was soo good that it changed my prejudices about German food. All staffs, chef and manager were super nice, and they were so attentive all the time, especially when we had our wedding party there. This is also one of the rare restaurants that excellent both in meat and veggies dishes - so difficult to find just restaurants in Germany when I'm meat eater and my husband is vegetarian. Highly recommend, and please ask the staffs for what they have as seasonal specials, because you'll be happy and well fed 😊

A wonderful, authentic Franconian restaurant! The food is sensationally delicious! I had soup as a starter and the 240g rump steak, which was honestly the best I've had so far! RESPECT 👍

Absolutely positive impression of this Franconian inn/restaurant, from the reception to the entire service and the kitchen! It was our first time here - but not the last! All the seats in the dining room were taken on Sunday lunchtime - but the service was still absolutely attentive! When placing my order, I only casually mentioned (with a wink) that I would probably have to share some of the porcini mushroom soup with my wife. When the soup was served, a second spoonful was also included! There were several other touches that are standard here - but I certainly noticed them positively. No particular wait times - everything goes hand in hand here - a high proportion of regular customers who are even addressed by name. Well - what can I say - every euro you spend here is returned to the guests by the team with their hard work and passion for their job! I wish this team continued success and all guests a lot of fun and bon appetit

We had lunch there with our guests after our daughter's baptism. Both we and our guests were thrilled with the selection of dishes. There's a classic selection as well as a selection of more exclusive dishes, so there's truly something for EVERYONE without being overwhelmed by the choices. There's also a selection of vegetarian dishes. Our vegetarian guests found something truly delicious here as well and had a choice of several. The service was also first-class. The ladies were truly attentive, and our glasses never sat empty for long – fantastic. The food also arrived very promptly for everyone. The taste was simply soooo good. Every single one of our guests was absolutely impressed and delighted by the presentation and the taste of the food. We will definitely come back here and highly recommend it. Thank you for the fantastic food :-)

A lovely small and historic restaurant with average German food. The mushroom cream soup wasn’t creamy at all, but just thickened with lots of flour. There were barely any mushrooms or cream in it. The bratwurst skewers were nice, but the fries on the side were not the greatest in the world.

Very delicious food, the dishes are beautifully presented and cooked to perfection every time. We had chicken, pork, liver, and fish, and everything was super tender. We had the opportunity to visit restaurants, making some detours along the way, and we didn't regret it. The dishes were exceptionally tasty, reflecting the local cuisine. The dumplings and meat dishes are worth trying and highly recommended.

We went to eat at the Roten Ross again today. Excellent service from start to finish. Great dishes and delicious food. We'd love to come back. It's a great place to eat as a family. The menu for kids is fantastic and the prices are great.

The family reunion with 18 people at the Roten Ross was a dream – in a cozy private room, charming service, and every dish a feast for the eyes and palate. I'd love to come back.

Despite the packed place, I managed to get a seat without a reservation. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating, drinks and food were served quickly, and the wait after ordering wasn't too long either. All the food was delicious, and the portions were generous. The value for money was absolutely spot on. I'd be happy to come back.

The entire staff is extremely polite and attentive. As a guest you feel as a guest should feel, namely valued. Short and sweet; Food good, staff extremely attentive and polite and a fitting ambience for a German quality restaurant!

Today we had lunch at the Roter Ross with 6 people. As always we were very satisfied. Franconian cuisine was excellent, we had carp fillet, Schäufele, onion roast, cheese spaetzle, all very tasty. Service as usual very friendly and very competent. And we had a lot of fun, thank you again for that. We'd love to come back.

I usually don’t like German food, but this restaurant changed my mind! They are cooking in a high level of taste, with balanced flavors and great presentation! I don’t suggest any specific dishes, because all what we tried, were just perfect, even the desserts I absolutely recommend this restaurant !!

A really nice visit to the restaurant. The service was friendly, courteous and on the ball - always a smile on the face. The food was really tasty and prepared quickly. The garlic soup could have just used a little more heat and garlic. Carp and dessert were really tasty and good portions. It's definitely not the last time I've been here - high praise.

Of the 4 Franconian inns still existing on the Altdorf market square, this is my favorite. The kitchen not only offers the rather heavy standard Franconian fare, but also surprises with many fresh ideas. Recommended!

The ambience and service were excellent. There is a special menu and a high chair for children. In addition, everyone on site is very fond of children and open-minded. The food came very quickly - high quality and taste. There is enough parking space in front of the door. Can only recommend the Red Ross in Altdorf.

We've been living in Altdorf since 2013, but for whatever reason, we've only now made it to the Red Ross. Fantastic food, wonderful service and a really nice ambience. Prices are ok for really good food. We'd love to come back.

With anticipation and quite high expectations, I was really positively surprised by the baked Franconian carp! An excellently prepared, crispy, juicy and extremely tasty animal, combined with fresh salad and delicious potato salad, served by attentive and really friendly staff! The price and size of the fin carrier are absolutely appropriate! Actually 6 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
