A delicious place! My sister said it was the best lamb shank she'd ever had. The flavors were just right and the food was delicious. The location is sparsely populated, so I can guarantee this place will be a hotspot in the city. The owner is lovely!

Nice restaurant with the very good bulgarian cusine. The satch was very tasty with a beautiful presentation of the dish and the bulgarian wine was good. Good service and a welcoming attitude to guests. We are greatful to the host and will be glad to visit again.

Pros: The restaurant is set on a lovely quiet street near the English garden. The waitress was nice enough and the wine was tasty. Cons: no one asked how the food was. It was so so. Tasty enough but very oily and with sliced olives and pepperoni out of the jar, not worth the money. When I wanted to pay I was scolded by the manager for wanting to pay by card, and he said this was the last time he would let anyone pay by card and seemed to indicate that he resented paying taxes. If you work in the hospitality business I expect you enjoy being a good host. I do not expect to be admonished. Sadly I would not recommend.

We had a Mezze and 2 Bulgarian rosé - but it was amazing!! The lovely service, quiet atmosphere and warm weather in the evening made quite special, actually. Looking forward to the main dishes next time 👍👍

I came because of the good reviews and don't understand them. Food: The food was far too greasy. The grease was floating on top and under the pita, which was more greasy than crispy. The very large burger was still bloody in places, and the waiter didn't ask for the desired cooking thickness. I didn't taste any seasoning, just greasy meat. The salad was also made with just oil, without proper salad dressing, and tasted like store-bought. Frieds were tasty, but far too few compared to the huge amount of meat. Far too expensive for €21.90. Facilities: The restrooms are disgusting, with a greasy, brownish layer of urine/limescale all the way down to the water, across the entire back rim. The sink was also dirty. If I had seen this beforehand, I wouldn't have eaten here, as it's easy to clean and keep clean with vinegar essence, etc. Otherwise, the facilities are okay; the table wobbled. Service: The service was otherwise friendly and quick.

Truly an amazing experience. Nice and cozy place right next to the English garden. The lady who helped the table was nice and welcoming. I didn’t speak any German, unfortunately, but she kindly guided me through the menu.

I haven't eaten so well in a long time. Super delicious starter platter (meze) for 2 people. Everything can also be prepared vegetarian. The main courses were also very tasty! Friendly service, great service, delicious food, cozy restaurant.

The only real Bulgarian restaurant is located near the university within walking distance of the Isar and the English Garden. The restaurant only has a few tables, so reservations are strongly recommended. The host couple is very friendly and accommodating, the menu is authentic and well selected. It's best to share a meze as a group; the lamb shank and shish kebab skewer are recommended as main courses. You can also find steaks on the menu as well as salads. The wait for the food is definitely worth it, the food is freshly prepared and very tasty. Wines, cocktails, beer and the like are also on offer. The dining room is cozy and there are also tables outside in summer. Traveling by bike or public transport is recommended, as the parking situation is very tense, especially when the weather is nice.

Great food, but shockingly rude service The food was truly delicious, but the service completely ruined the experience. I had made a reservation through Google Maps for 7:30 PM and even received a valid confirmation email. Despite this, the waiter insisted that this was “not possible,” told me I had made a mistake, and pressured us to order immediately or the kitchen would close. What was most disturbing, though, was how the waiter stood at our table the entire time, watching us and not leaving for even a second until we ordered. It felt invasive and incredibly disrespectful — not the kind of behavior you’d expect at any decent restaurant. Also, this wasn’t my first visit. Strangely, the credit card machine only seems to work if you claim you don’t have cash. Otherwise, it magically stops working. Great food can’t make up for such poor treatment. Hopefully, they’ll learn that good service isn’t just about speed — it’s about respect.

Simply gorgeous food and wine 😋 A friend proposed to meet at Rila for dinner. Otherwise I wouldn’t have found this small restaurant since it is kind of hidden in a street where you wouldn’t expect it. I had polenta with goat cheese and grilled vegetables - and it was so good 🤤Next to it I had a Mavrud red wine - really tasty. So I‘ll definitely go there again when being in Munich the next time.

Even though it wasn't very busy when we ordered, we waited about an hour and a half for the food to arrive. The meals we prefer are for 3 people and are things like soup of the day and grill. If you have enough time and like to wait, you can choose Edit on reply: the salad arrived early, yes, but the soup arrived half an hour after the salad.

This food is so delicious I have stopped in the middle of my meal to write this post the atmosphere is lovely the staff helpful and very kind. I’d eat here over and over.

Interessantes Lokal im Univiertel mit internationalem Publikum und relativ hohem Geräuschpegel, nicht ganz günstig. Spannende Essens-Varianten, die Speisen waren alle sehr gut, hübsch und liebevoll angerichtet, fein mit Kräutern gewürzt. Am Ende gab es dann einen Schnaps aufs Haus - das hat man in München nicht mehr oft.

I recently went to Rila Restaurant and absolutely loved it! The food is fresh, delicious and prepared with a lot of love - just like in Bulgaria. The grilled specialties and homemade starters are particularly recommended. The staff is friendly, attentive and makes you feel at home straight away. The atmosphere is cozy and authentic, perfect for a relaxed evening with family or friends. If you love Bulgarian cuisine or want to get to know it, you've come to the right place! I'll definitely be back.

A wonderful dinner! I had never tried Bulgarian cuisine, so I booked this place to experience something different than usual. My partner and I first shared the "meze", or mixed appetizers. Apart from the very nice presentation (a tall tray arrives filled with jars and containers of various types, really beautiful to look at), it was truly an excellent choice: sauces, cured meats, halloumi, bread, giardiniera perfect for starting the day off in the best possible way. dinner. As the main course we chose one of the traditional dishes, namely the Vreteno. It is a chicken breast stuffed with dried tomatoes and cheese with grilled courgettes and Jerusalem artichoke and pumpkin puree. This is also very good. We also took a bottle of Bulgarian wine, Mavrud. Long story short, it was a wonderful dinner and I definitely think I'll be back to try other dishes on the menu. Aside from the gastronomic aspect, I also really appreciated the welcome in the place. They make you feel like a long-standing customer who deserves attention.

We have visited Rila many times, and we have always left very satisfied and deliciously fed! The owners are very warm-hearted people and will always treat you with the best feasts! Don't miss being in Munich and don't eat here!

Extremely disappointing experience! The food was horribly greasy and way overpriced. Everything was drenched in oil, which made it almost inedible. To make matters worse, the salad had silt in it, which is completely unacceptable. What's even more frustrating is that we still left a tip. We ordered vegetarian options, so that might have contributed, but it still doesn't excuse the poor quality. Whoever was on aux slayed though.

Everything is very good, loud music doesn't necessarily have to be the case. Great food and service, nice crowd.

I walked around the English Garden on a leisurely Sunday. I wanted to try Bulgarian food for lunch, so I googled this restaurant. When I entered, the waiter was very friendly and greeted me, and enthusiastically introduced me to recommended dishes when I asked. The recommended lamb leg stew is really delicious! The meat is soft and tender without any mutton smell, and the stew on the bottom mixed with cheese is also quite delicious. It is the best food I have eaten during this week of business trip. I am very happy to find such a great restaurant. I will visit again next time I have the opportunity to travel to Munich~ The LAMMHAXE tasted really good! Thanks for a good recommendation. 😄😄😄

Having recently been to Bulgaria and loved the food, I was keen to try out this local restaurant and wasn’t disappointed! It’s a little more expensive than other places in the area, but the food was lovely.

Was on a work trip, and hadn’t eaten Bulgarian in several years and it was really delicious(I would even say better than what I have eaten in Bulgaria when I was there a few years back). The place was very pleasant and the owner was very extremely nice. Very good find.

I think this may have been the best pork I've ever had in my life. I had the shashlick. Wow! Amazing! The sausage was very good too, but the pork was incredible. I think it was the spice rub, but it may also have been the cut of meat. It was flawless. We are now planning a trip to Bulgaria to see if we can recreate this meal.

Wow, the meal feels so rich when it is served. It is hard to imagine that it is a meal for 2 people. The CP value is very high. The taste is quite strong and the meat is very soft. Be sure to order their beer and try the taste from different breweries. The whole thing tastes delicious. Because it was so delicious, I accidentally overate it again, and now my stomach feels bloated. Mamma Mia~ Coming to Germany to enjoy food from different countries is also a good food trip. I look forward to giving it a try with the locals. By the way, the boss and employees are very enthusiastic, remember to chat with them more.

We had a very good dinner here! The portion size is great, so you can also have a starter or a dessert without bursting 😅 The service was super friendly. The food came quickly. The local itself is also really nice. It's easy to sit outside, even though you're sitting on the street, as there was virtually nothing going on on the street.

Very bad how the operators (sitting, drinking wine) chased the poor but very committed waiter around on a Saturday evening all by themselves and from above without actually getting up themselves. We're not really demanding, but unfortunately the food doesn't correspond to the slightly exorbitant price. Affordable quality greets you.

I was lucky because I found one of my favorite restaurants in the city and loved the cuisine. I have been here several times now and I can guarantee that it is always a delicious meal and a great setting. The service is always top notch, especially Valentina. She takes good care of you and gives 100%. You won't find that anywhere else in Munich! Apart from all the food, in terms of alcohol, I highly recommend Bulgarian wines and of course the traditional rakija, very tasty! 10/10 for everything. I recently visited Munich on business and was pleasantly surprised to find that there is a Bulgarian restaurant. I visited twice during my stay. The food was magnificent and the attitude of the owners very hospitable. However, what I did not see was other Bulgarians. Thousands of Bulgarians live in Munich and I can't explain why they don't visit it. During my stay I visited a Greek and a Turkish restaurant. You can't get away with Greeks and Turks respectively. People support each other far from their homeland. I hope more Bulgarians will read what I wrote and go and eat delicious Bulgarian feasts. And to your lovely family, I want to thank you for the delicious food and I will visit you again on my next business trip.

Really tasty food, with a good variety of options. I had a bean stew with grilled meat and pitta bread, while my wife enjoyed a vegetarian dish with aubergines. If you enjoy Greek or Turkish food, this has some similarities, but it also it has its own individual qualities that you won't find anywhere else. I shall be going back for more!
