Zento in München

We had a great time and the service was pretty good. The fish was a bit fishy, but it was good. We also thought the sushis and sashimis were just to big and difficult to eat, something more delicate could have made the change for us. But overall, great location, great wine, great service.

We went to Zento as a couple on a Saturday evening. Basically a nice atmosphere, but the tables were very narrow and close to each other - that was too much for us... 3 stars The service was initially very fast, almost too fast (food came one after the other, no chance of relaxed conversation between courses). As the progress progressed, the waiter was hardly seen again - presumably the time throughput is in the foreground and he is hoping for a quick "departure"? 3 stars The food was good, with appropriate quality. On the other hand, it wasn't very good or even outstanding, but the flavors weren't coordinated well enough (and too many unnecessary sauces on the sushi). Still 4 stars. All in all, a nice evening, but one that doesn't warrant a repeat.

The Japanese restaurant we used to love no longer exists, so we looked for something new and found a great restaurant. We'll definitely come back and try the other delicious-sounding dishes that we couldn't manage. We were very satisfied.

The food is good, especially the starters Main courses okay to good, a bit too experimental but okay. The shop and the furnishings are nice, but much too narrow! Why do you put such wide chairs at the tables if you as a service employee can no longer get through to provide decent service??? So everything looks good, but it doesn't make any sense. But that was the smallest problem that the service employee in charge had that evening... Everything that could have gone wrong happened that evening. A really embarrassing idea!!! It shouldn't be possible at such a price level. And then there is no contact person present to take responsibility Simply weak! Not a second time sorry. The three stars are only for the starters.

Lackluster experience. We waited over 1h10!! for our dish, and when my "sushi surprise" arrived, I was quite disappointed to see that it was a set 8 small makis, 2 Nigiri and 8 other rolls. Quite the selection for 35€... Overall a disappointing birthday dinner.

I was so excited to eat here because as someone with celiac disease I appreciate the menu with the great allergen info, especially for a Japanese restaurant. Happily made a reservation, arrived and unfortunately had to leave before even ordering. This space is so incredibly crammed, tight and loud that it was simply unbearable. The tables are insanely close together and unfortunately we were placed at a middle table, completely sandwiched between the people next to us and behind me. Every other minute someone bumped into my chair (including the waiter) or I had to move the chair to make way for someone. This is completely unacceptable for a restaurant of this price category. If you charge like a fine dining restaurant, I‘d expect the atmosphere to match, not a panic attack inside a sardine tin. This was such a huge letdown :(

Hugely disappointing for such an expensive restaurant. We were packed in like sardines with no personal space. After waiting more than 10 minutes, we were only handed menus, with no service or acknowledgment before that. We decided to leave—definitely not worth the premium prices.

Sushi is fresh and tasty but super small portions and very expensive. It's so not enough as if sushi is an appetiser :// Also it takes unbelievably long to bring your food.

We had a lovely evening at Zento. The food was very tasty and tastefully prepared. The service was very courteous and... attentive. The atmosphere is actually cozy, but unfortunately it is a bit noisy in the restaurant, which could probably be due to the smooth walls. Nevertheless, we would love to come back! Highly recommended!

The attitude towards customers is awful. They are trying to hid the bill and conceal the tips which they include in the bill without asking. They are trying to take the cache and not giving full rest. More on that - they are disputing with google reviews and request cancelling our feedback with low rating, not immediately, but after some period of time, when the visitors potentially won't take any appeal actions. Definitely not recommending!

Some of the food was good. Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right. Better go somewhere else. The sushi surprise is a disappointment for me as a nigiri.

Food was good. Unfortunately, the payment process spoiled the experience. In addition to the fact that if you pay by card you have to choose the amount of the tip (which is now more common), the waiter asked really cheekily when we wanted to pay together: Do you also pay the tip together? I find this rude, as this is a reward for good service and should not be expected to be so rude. Unfortunately it spoiled the impression.

Small, cozy restaurant with surprising sushi variations. Of course there are also the classics. We were lucky to get a table, the restaurant was very busy. Very extensive but sometimes creative teriyaki and sushi dishes. We then chose classics. The tuna tartare was wonderful and the sushi (ebi tempura + inside-out mango/salmon) was great too. Everything is very fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. If we come to Munich again, we will be happy to come back.

Our visit to the Zento, This is an upscale Asian restaurant in Macvorstadt, but given the prices and especially the not exactly cheap wine prices, as a guest I expect not only the cuisine but also the service to be professional and qualified. The wrong wine was brought three times, then the glasses were almost full, even though I said: Please keep it cool! Ordered a starter, but only three out of four dishes came and one had to watch, that's just not possible. And please don't use the excuse again that we haven't had any staff since the Corona pandemic, I can't hear that anymore!!! Then you have to work as a management team or train the service staff a little or at least explain the wine list It was annoying to have spent so much money on an evening that unfortunately we all had imagined differently

Great sushi restaurant near Odeon Square. The ambience was great. Sushi was extremely tasty, the softshell crab was highly recommended. The drinks were excellent and were mixed individually. Unfortunately the toilets weren't that clean. Otherwise we were completely satisfied.

Very good food, primary sushi. Not a lot of other options. Service friendly and fast. A bit too warm inside, the small tower fan did little to help. Quite expensive, but portions are generous.

I would like to express my disappointment about my visit to the Sushi Zento restaurant on August 12th. to express. When I arrived I was not greeted appropriately and immediately felt uncomfortable. The greeting from your staff was rude and distant, creating an unpleasant atmosphere. The way the staff treated guests was unprofessional and disrespectful. Instead of our needs being considered, we were ignored and our concerns were dismissed. What was particularly disappointing was that I felt like the staff were making fun of us, which is completely unacceptable. The combination of poor reception, unfriendly treatment and disrespectful behavior resulted in a very disappointing experience on my birthday. I ask that you take steps to ensure that your staff is properly trained and treats guests with respect. I intensively communicated my points for at least 5 minutes, but the waitress was unwilling to find a solution or apologize for this major inconvenience. I hope that you will take my complaint seriously and take the necessary steps to improve the quality of your customer service.

The restaurant looks very nice but the sushi from the supermarket chain “Eat happy”, which can be found at Edeka or Rewe, is in my opinion a thousand times better both visually and in taste than what they offer but unfortunately significantly more expensive than at “Eat Happy” and unfortunately for a Japanese person… really disappointed and embarrassing in my opinion! In addition, the waiting times are really long, you almost lose your appetite... we waited about an hour for four rolls of sushi and in the end my criticism wasn't really noticed and to make up for the disappointment, they didn't do anything instead the waiter did Outrageously even waiting to receive a tip.

I recently visited Zento Restaurant in Munich, and overall, it was a pretty good experience. The food was really tasty, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It’s a popular spot, so it's definitely a good idea to book a table before you go, especially if you want to avoid waiting. However, the space inside the restaurant is quite small. They seem to fit in as many people as possible, which made it a bit uncomfortable. Our table was so close to the next one that the person sitting there could accidentally bump into me if they moved too much. For that reason, I'm giving Zento a 3 out of 5

The service hardly speaks German or English, which is why there was no individual advice. It was warmer inside than outside. Cleanliness of the toilets is ok, but they are very narrow. I wasn't convinced about seafood and fish dishes. The food we ordered didn't arrive at our table at the same time and there were only three of us and the restaurant wasn't even half full.

Everything was very good. Just one thing, maki was a little small for 8 Euro. Recommend.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I found a hair on my California roll and a mosquito in my soup. Although the waiter was polite and gave the rolls for free, he blamed the mosquito on the summer season, even though there were no mosquitos around us and it looked like it had been dead for a while, possibly part of the ingredients. To make matters worse, he asked for a tip twice. This experience was quite off-putting, and I hope the restaurant takes steps to improve its hygiene and service.

2023: The food is really delicious and the soup is without MSG, I can say that because I don’t get thirsty after having the meal. Superb! 2024: Went there several times, this time we didn’t feel like giving tip and were asked for a reason why, and were told “normally you should give tips” which was absolutely nonsense to us. What is “normally” then? Is it law then? Felt the food wasn’t as good as it used to be, and both of us got diarrhea afterwards. Sad to say never again.

The Zento Restaurant in Munich offers an authentic Japanese experience, which is particularly impressive with its excellent sushi platter for two people. The small bottle of sake that we enjoyed with our meal rounded off the taste experience perfectly and went perfectly with the food. The starters are a bit small, but the flavor compositions make up for it. Every bite is a joy and makes you look forward to the main courses. The service at Zento is friendly and courteous, which makes the visit very pleasant. However, the back area of ​​the restaurant is a bit narrow, which makes communication difficult as the tables are close together and therefore a bit noisy. However, this does not detract from the overall positive experience. Despite the cramped area at the back, the Zento Restaurant is a great restaurant that I can recommend to everyone. The high quality of the food and the good service make it a worthwhile destination for all lovers of Japanese cuisine in Munich.

The sushi restaurant on Odeonsplatz is ideally located in the heart of Munich. The furnishings with Japanese decorations are stylish and create an authentic ambience. The menu features fresh, artfully prepared sushi and other Japanese specialties. Particularly noteworthy are the nigiri and creative maki rolls. A good selection of sake and teas rounds off the offering. The service is friendly, attentive and very competent. Prices are slightly higher, but given the quality of food and service as well as the prime location, this is entirely justified.

I always thought sushi should be simple, without many ingredients or combinations, but this place made me rethink that. Great food and combinations. Super service.

Total disappointment. They are ripping off their guests. The tip was simply added to the bill without informing us. The waiter took the cash and quickly ran away without giving us the bill. We had to chase him to get the bill. On the bill there was no listing of the individual items in the order other than the tip. Plus, they never have the change and want to keep the rest for themselves. Total rip off!!!!!

They are fooling customers including tips into the bill without notice! They are not showing the bill if you don't ask explicitly, only saying the total amount with own tip estimation. If you pay by cache - they try not to give the rest. Such an attitude to customers is pathetic and disrespectful!

Many comments talk about the expensive prices but, considering the quality of the dishes, the prices are reasonable.

We organized a company dinner here and it did not disappoint us. The staff advised us very well and the food was delicious!! They served us a varied sushi board and each piece got better. It is a small place so reservations are recommended. I repeat for sure!

Amazing place for special occasions!

We went here last week to celebrate husband's birthday! The food was great and the sashimi was really delicious and fresh. We had Mixed Tartar, Miso Soup, Large Sashimi Platter (Zento Deli), Wagyu A5 Nigiri, and our child ordered Lucky Duck. The seafood were amazing and the duck was out of this world. As for dessert, we ordered a scoop of matcha ice cream, Banana Paradise, and Mango Cream. They gave the Mango Cream dessert as his birthday present and even sang a happy birthday song. It was really nice of them to do so! Definitely a great evening with fantastic food. The place was a bit tight and crowded, but depending on the seating it can be very cozy. Service was quick and the staffs were really friendly and welcoming. Will definitely come back again!

Modern japanese, as pointed out in the name reflects both in rather hip and trendy interior and dishes. We spontaneously came for Tuesday lunch craving for fish. Lunch offer is quite extensive. I ordered salmon bowl and although creatively presented, it appeared rather small to me, and I am typically known to be complaining other way around. It got compensated with the fact that fish was extremely fresh and melted in the mouth, so here I would take quality over quantity any time. Also, extra lime in sparkling water definitely added this necessary fresh note, nice attention to detail. Capacity-wise place is rather limited, but service is extremely fast considering the place was full during lunch time, but they handle it great.

No reservations so u need seat outside although there are still some free tables inside. Okay fine understandable. But for three sushi rolls we waited for more than 1 hour???? What’s wrong with you? I mean if u already reached ur capacity, at least u need notify ur guests!! And the most ridiculous thing is that u only can pay cash, otherwise u need pay 5% service fee( with card)🙃 it’s really the most terrible experience in Munich
