Restaurant Rheinterrasse Santorini in Waldshut-Tiengen

Tired and hungry, I wandered the old town in search of something truly satisfying. I found a cozy restaurant and stepped inside. The server, a kind gentleman, didn’t seem to understand my English at first and led me to a table by the door. I asked for a better spot — and to my delight, he happily moved me to a lovely window seat. We ordered through translations, only for me to later discover he did speak English — just shyly. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere warm, and John’s hospitality made the whole experience memorable. I’ll gladly be back.

This is a Greek restaurant without Greeks in it and I’m almost sure that chef isn’t Greek as well. Mousaka is a traditional Greek plate that if you don’t know the secrets how to make it, is better to not serve it at all. Potatoes and especially the aubergines need to fry them and then to remove the oil they suck completely, or the ones who will eat it, will be sick, especially if the oil is at a low quality. The „low oily“ style should be followed also in the mince. This Mousaka gave me a feeling that was swimming in oil. The tomato in the sauce was too much and overall was the worst Mousaka I had ever. I wander, the chef doesn’t taste it? Or there is no chef and you buy them in cans or something? But not only Mousaka was bad. The tzatziki was tasting like low cost ready-made and very bad as well, the meat was dry, and no matter how hard I can try to say something good, I have to say only that I’m completely disappointed. It was my first and last time of course. I thought I found a place who offers home-made style Greek plates and more things than meat (because if i wanted only meat their competition offers it in top quality and better prices), but it was a bad choice to go there. I wasn’t about to make this post, if the lady (probably the owner), had the professionalism to ask why we didn’t eat their food. Especially myself I’m fat enough and people like me ordering usually a second plate. They don’t eat like birds as we say in Greece. She understood that we were unhappy, but she didn’t reacted, probably because she knew what she served us.

The ambiance on the sunny terrace was very nice. However, the waitress took too long to take our order (40 minutes). The Greek food, on the other hand, arrived quickly and was good. Only the waitress left something to be desired; we even had to go inside to take a reminder.

I felt like I was in Greece! Excellent cuisine, all attention to detail! Mr. Yiannis is a hospitable and great person with a passion for traditional Greek cuisine! Thank you for everything, we had a wonderful time! ❤️🥰

Very tasty Greek food, good service and the best thing is the views of the river.

The restaurant offers excellent cuisine and, as the name suggests, an outstanding view of the Rhine.

We had a delicious meal on the terrace in wonderful weather and with a great view over the Rhine. The waiter was very nice, although a bit confusing. It was probably a language barrier, Swiss German - German 🤣

Our dog was also allowed onto the terrace overlooking the Rhine. A wide selection and delicious food.

Great location. Food OK. Tzatziki portions very small. Meat occasionally gristly or stringy. Fat also found. Room for improvement. Possibly just a bad day.

We had a very good meal here; everything was fresh and delicious, and everyone at the table enjoyed it. The terrace is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a fantastic view of the Rhine. I'd love to come back.

The three of us visited the Rheinterrasse for the first time. We ordered an ouzo platter for two as a starter, which was delicious. The moussaka and the grilled meats were also very tasty. We had an ouzo in between – cheers. We really enjoyed it, and the service was very friendly. We'll be back.

Honestly, the food is tasteless, it's nothing special, I even find it very bland. The atmosphere is very pleasant, but the staff is very annoying, they kept coming to ask different things to the point that it was stressful. I couldn't relax. I recommend that the staff not be so insistent with everything, but only up to a certain level.

Beautiful Greek restaurant with an outdoor area located directly on the Rhine. The service is top and the food is very good. We have been here several times and will always come back. Many thanks to the boss, who always does her best to accommodate all guests.

Always happy so far! FOOD is great. The tables are always tastefully set in white. The view of the Rhine is a dream. And the service is convincing.

I actually thought you can't go wrong with a visit to a Greek. At least that's my experience. But that was nothing. Unseasoned meat, a thimble of tzatziki, tomato rice that tasted like nothing. The best thing was the pepperoni on my plate. Plus we were seated in the last corner even though the highlight of the restaurant is the view and the whole shed was empty.

Amazingly good. 100% better than 10 years ago. Friendly.

Nov. 2024 on a Friday evening: Advertising for Ukraine with flags and courts was penetratingly political. 4 starters an absolute disappointment. All tiny portions, lukewarm to cold, limp, paper-thin, dry aubergines, baked cheese lukewarm, without onions, peppers, pepper, oil and garlic, just bad. The bread like yesterday and warmed up in the microwave. The prices are way too high in comparison. You can't get such poor quality anywhere in Greece. We have been here several times in the past and have always been very satisfied. But that's it for now. The chefs are not Greek or have no idea. Everything seems to be very Ukraine-centric lately. We didn't pay for the food and left very disappointed after a tough, justifying discussion with the boss.

We reserved a table (window seat) for four people and were served absolutely attentively and courteously at a lovingly decorated table. The food is the finest, the offering is typical Greek cuisine, perfectly seasoned, and the prices are absolutely reasonable. One of the best inns in Waldshut. Thank you very much for this, I would be happy to come back at any time....

It's probably a question of faith, but gyros from the pan should be labeled as such, especially in a Greek restaurant, I'm more likely to assume that it comes from a skewer and not from a pan!!!

View of the Rhine from the terrace. Friendly service, dishes as shown in online pictures and very tasty. Portions are more than sufficient. Dogs also had enough space and were given water. We were very satisfied with the evening and food.

Very good, fresh Greek cuisine, as well as other dishes, can be enjoyed in the Rheinterrasse restaurant. Thanks to its elevated location, the view over the Rhine is a real pleasure and has a relaxing effect. The ambience is nice, a lot of effort is made here with fabric table linen, we appreciate dining at a beautifully set table. The prices are very moderate and the price/performance ratio is very good. There are parking spaces on the street, directly in the old town, for a fee.

I went to this restaurant for the first time today, at first the lady was very nice, the food was ok so far. The restaurant was becoming increasingly full and you could tell the waiter wasn't that motivated. I ordered a wine spritzer and as soon as the wine was on the table there was already a fly in it, the waiter didn't come when I called him, when he finally came after I had finished eating for 20 minutes, I told him that I couldn't drink the wine because there was a fly swimming in the glass, so he should please deduct that for me. After another eternity of waiting, the woman came and I told her the same thing again, whereupon she asked if the fly had been in there from the beginning and I told her no, but I couldn't drink the wine because of that, she just said that it was it was my responsibility to take care of the flies and I had to pay for the wine. She was very rude and threatening. I then paid for the wine. I cannot recommend the restaurant in terms of how it treats guests!

Fries comparable to mashed potatoes Service... Ordered drinks 3 times and didn't get them. Unfortunately, the same goes for the dessert menu... I asked twice when paying, after an hour of asking for the dessert menu several times, he remembered it again. Dessert appetite gone.

We came here without an appointment and got a table straight away. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was very good. We were completely satisfied.

My wife and I have eaten in this restaurant about 20 times now, each time driving 60 km away. We really enjoy doing that because the food, the view, the ambience and the friendly staff are amazing. There are cloth towels on the tables and the napkins are also made of cloth, the candles and flowers are real. The restaurant cannot be topped when it comes to cleanliness. The service is always friendly and helpful. The restaurant is usually very quiet and pleasant The food is excellent and the prices are moderate. Anyone who thinks the food in Greece would be better is still reminiscing, because it is definitely not. The view over the Rhine is great, both from inside and on the terrace. I can only recommend the restaurant.

April 7, 2024: A very nice restaurant and good cuisine.

I ordered a schnitzel with fries. The food was ok, unfortunately I had to spend the next 2 hours in the toilet. The frying oil probably hasn't been changed for a long time... The restaurant itself is otherwise beautifully decorated with a good view. The food is also well presented.

Very tasty dishes, friendly staff! Came spontaneously on Sunday evening without a reservation and got a table without any problems. After ordering, the dishes came quite quickly. We'd love to come back.

A restaurant with a wonderful ambience and a wonderful view of the Rhine. The service is very friendly and attentive. You immediately feel at home here. Everything is very clean and stylishly decorated in Greek style. The menu has many fine dishes so that everyone is sure to find something for themselves. The Greek food we ordered left nothing to be desired. It was fantastic. The price-performance ratio is also impressive. For us it's clear we'll definitely come back.☺️👍🏻

It wasn't my first time here. The food is delicious and very authentic. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is very nice. There are some seats with a view of the Rhine.

The food was plentiful and tasty, the Greeks can just eat meat 😋. Nice ambience with a view of the Rhine and Switzerland. If I could give more stars for the service it would be justifiable, I haven't had such attentive service despite many guests for a long time 👍.

We went to Santorini for dinner today. The staff is very friendly and professional. I rate the ambience as very appealing and the wonderful view inspires me every time. Our food was very good, but the size of the portions didn't make you feel full, but that's just my personal impression.

Absolut ein Tolles Griechisches Restaurant. Best View! Und das griechische Dessert *Galaktobureko* Ist immer lecker. Wir haben schon Reserviert für Valentinstag und Ostern 2024 Tisch Nr.9, der Absolute Blick auf den Rhein und die Schweiz. Wir freuen uns Ioannis wieder zu sehen.

Gutes griechisches Lokal mit nettem Service in toller Lage und mit schöner Aussicht auf den Rhein und in die Schweiz; Essen und Portionsgröße gehen durchaus in Ordnung-Preis/Leistung soweit okay P.S. Ouzu gab's leider keinen...

Waren auf der Durchreise, von außen unscheinbar und kaum zu erkennen, dass da ein Restaurant ist. Aber zum Glück über Google gefunden. Innen liebevoll schön, typisch griechisch eingerichtet. Schöne Terrasse und auch von innen einem schönen Ausblick auf den Rhein. Essen super lecker, reichlich und vom Preis total ok. Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Würden wiederkommen wenn wir wieder Richtung Schweiz/Frankreich unterwegs sind.

Waren heute das erste Mal hier - warum eigentlich -keine Ahnung - ich wusste nicht dass es hier so ein gutes griechisches Restaurant gibt ! Luxus Ausblick beim Essen von Waldshut von drinnen oder draußen auf der großen Terrasse im Freien. Es war sehr sehr lecker, tolles Ambiente, sehr freundliches Personal, die Portionen waren nicht zu groß, aber ausreichend, wunderbar anzuschauen auch sehr lecker zu essen und vor allem stimmt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, was leider allzu oft woanders eben nicht passt. Nimmt man beim nächsten Mal eine Vorspeise, dann ist es perfekt und der Preis stimmt immernoch ! Wir kommen definitiv wieder ins Santorini in Waldshut, es war sehr sehr gut ! Wir sagen vielen Dank !

Schönes Ambiente direkt am Rhein. Einrichtung geschmacksvoll. Personal sehr freundlich und sympathisch. Familiemfreundliches restaurant. Hatten Malsachen und meine Tochter durfte Sticlerbuch mit nach Hause nehmen. Toiletten sauber. Preis Leistung total in Ordnung.

Bei einer spontanen Begegnung mit einer älteren Dame, wurde uns das Restaurant wärmstens empfohlen. Tolles Essen, freundliche, zuvorkommende Bedienung und ein toller Ausblick auf den Rhein. Schön und unverhofft!

Immerwieder gut. Sehr freundliches Personal und das Essen schmeckt klasse. Besonders ist der Ausblick auf den Rhein zu genießen, fühlt sich immer etwas wie Urlaub an.

Meine Partnerin und ich, wir sind regelmässige Gäste in griechischen Tavernen in CH & D. Auch dieses Jahr fahren wir wieder nach Griechenland in die Ferien. Obwohl wir mit dem Camper reisen, essen wir nur Frühstück im oder vor unserem fahrenden Ferienhäuschen, abends geniessen wir das pure Griechenland, auch gerne abseits des Tourismus. Übrigens stammt das Personal von der Rheinterrasse aus der Ukraine, sie machen ihren Job ausgezeichnet und wir sind seit Jahren zufriedene Gäste, was will man mehr. Efcharistó
