Restaurant Poseidon in Kiel

Many rightly say it is THE Greek restaurant in Kiel. It's a matter of taste, but I can only agree! :) The restaurant is rather cozy, but has an incredible charm, of course primarily due to the innkeeper and the service. The menu is usual for a Greek, but offers a few interesting little things that not everyone has. The quality of the ingredients is very good and the preparation is truly divine. :)

Top! Always my pleasure! I am Greek and therefore know what good Greek food tastes like. The food was delicious, I particularly liked the Suzuki, which was very flavorful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant is run by a real Greek, which is not the case in almost all other Greek restaurants in Kiel. Recommended!

One of the best Greek restaurants I have ever visited. Meat is extremely tender and juicy and not at all dried out or tough. Huge amount of tzatziki and fresh onions. Mega great experience! Thanks to the whole team.

The Poseidon is a little outside the city but of course still central enough. It's not really my style to give five stars on the first visit, but the positive aspects outweigh minor comments. The atmosphere is friendly and in summer there are also tables outside. Greek flair decorates the guest room. The boss quickly welcomes the guests and keeps an eye on the free seats (if not reserved). Ordering is very quick and the card is uncomplicated. The prices are reasonable. When it comes to drinks it's on the edge... Beer is then served fresh and well tapped. The food comes together with the ouzo (which is often only done for single guests 😉) and, together with the salad, is a very satisfying meal. Fries on point, rice a bit too hard. The meat is very, very good and the tzatziki is great. Even if it is a bit noisy in the restaurant, an absolutely positive and good impression remains. Not least because the service is friendly, attentive and polite. The sanitary facilities are impeccable and when paying, card payment including a tip is possible and uncomplicated. Conclusion: This visit is definitely worth it and is highly recommended. In any case, I am convinced by the quality, service and prices. So let's go... 😃

Very nice restaurant, the food came quickly and was really tasty.

We reserved a table for our 18th birthday. It was on August 31, 2024. The restaurant was well attended, but I have rarely experienced such arrogant service and such a poor overall package. The salad beforehand was carelessly prepared; half of the stalk was still found in one salad. We were 6 guests. In the case of the Susikia, the minced meat was still raw/cold on the inside. No further food came at all. The minced meat dish was returned and when it came back the meat was far dry and everyone else had already finished eating. There was still no sign of the 6th court. The last person then had to eat alone. The gyro was soaked in fat, as if it had been heated in the deep fryer. When you asked if you could get a round of ouzo on the house for the inconvenience, you were greeted with an unfriendly response. Something like that wouldn't be possible and it would be cheeky to demand something like that. Shortly before we wanted to leave, quark balls with vanilla ice cream were suddenly served. Apparently the service was sorry after all. Absolutely no recommendation to eat there!!!

Poseidon, our favorite Greek since the opening at the Holstein Stadium! We have been regular guests from the very beginning and have never been disappointed. Warm welcome from Dimos and his nice team. Dimos knows exactly which dishes we want and Andrea pours our drinks without having to order in advance - here you feel comfortable and are pampered! The food is so delicious, your mouth will be watering! There is always an ouzo on offer and Dimos knows our tastes and knows what to please us with: Lukomades, the honey balls are the perfect end to the culinary delight! Family celebrations, meetings with friends, this is always the right place for us and we remain loyal. It was very tasty again today, got a nice table without a reservation, fast service and great food - what could be better?! Thank you very much and see you soon, dear ones! Addendum to my previous review. I finally ate at Poseidon again today and noticed that the quality hasn't diminished. Unfortunately there was no farewell ouzo and no more dough balls, which was a great highlight for me. I was very sad about that. The Greek restaurant "Poseidon" is located near the Holstein Stadium and is therefore easy to reach. Despite the difficult parking situation in Kiel, you can almost always find parking here (free of charge). The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but it scores with good Greek background music and a nice atmosphere. The service is always very attentive and you are welcomed and served in a very hospitable manner. Ordering goes quickly. The menu leaves nothing to be desired. You can tell from the often full tables on weekends that the restaurant is very popular. The quality of the food is great and the prices are attractive. The tzatziki is great and the portions are generous. An ouzo and a dessert are also served free of charge. The ouzo is significantly tastier than the one in the supermarket. The dessert consists of dough balls in honey. Because of all these advantages, I am completely convinced of the "Poseidon" restaurant and will continue to visit it with friends and with pleasure. Overall, I give it a “highly recommended” rating. So go and enjoy!

The gyro was mediocre. The rest was fine.

The quality was not like other Greek restaurants of the same price level. Unfortunately, despite the ouzo, the food wasn't that good for us.

We were looking for a Greek restaurant during a short stay in Kiel and luckily we chose this restaurant. Perfect souvlaki, great service and very nice staff. Greetings to the Hamburg young go out :-)

A good, solid Greek German restaurant. I ordered a gyros plate and a small bottle of Rezina. The portions are huge and the food is tasty. We all got a free salad at the beginning of the meal. I was too full to finish my meal, but the restaurant packed the leftover food and I enjoyed it the following day. No surprises, good service, and a dependable menu.

I ate there on Saturday before the Kiel vs Düsseldorf football game. As expected, it was extremely crowded. Unfortunately we waited around 45 minutes for drinks. Another drink order also came extremely late and then incomplete. Shortly afterwards we also had a complete order of drinks there. We waited 1 1/2 hours for the food. I also find that extreme. Of course it takes longer on days like this, but it's not the first time that a football game has taken place there in the immediate vicinity. More service staff would have been needed here. If these are not available, then guests should have been turned away before they were dissatisfied. The obligatory ouzo was served twice at the next table and not at all for us. But I don't think that's a bad thing! We sat on the terrace. The ambience was ok, I found it far too dark inside when paying.

Had a really, really tasty dinner here. There was a mixed meat platter. Everything tasted super good and fresh. I can highly recommend it. The gyro was also very tender. The side dishes and drinks were also good

I ordered the Crete platter, foil potato and extra Metaxa sauce and Hollandaise sauce With the Crete platter consisting of four different meat dishes I only got half a platter, with the foil potato the sauce was spread generously on the aluminum foil until I finally received my order with change and the complete platter. The delivery person had to do it a total of three times drive to my place and ring the bell four different times, once from the neighbor and last but not least I didn't get a receipt and paid too much. The internet said 28.50 and then it was 32.50. The food itself was delicious except for the gyros

Bifteki war sehr lecker, Gyros ist auch sehr zu empfehlen. Der Salat vorweg hat geschmeckt und die Ouzo haben überzeugt. Sehr netter Service und angenehme Atmosphäre. Gerne wieder.

Mein Chef überzeugte mich, mit ihm hierher zu kommen und er hatte recht. Denn uns erwartete leckeres griechisches Essen, gepflegte Getränke, netter Service und eine nicht kitschige schöne Atmosphäre

Mein Lieblings Grieche wenn ich in Kiel bin. Das Essen ist hervorragend und die Bedienung ist super nett. Ich kann es nur jedem empfehlen wenn man in Kiel griechisch essen möchte. Es ist zwar etwas außerhalb der Stadt aber es lohnt sich.

Wir waren eine Gruppe von 8 Personen. Die Speisen waren durchweg frisch zubereitet. Beim Geschmack wie auch der Anrichtung und Größe der einzelnen Gerichte gab es nur positive Rückmeldungen. Den Service wie auch das Ambiente kann ich ebenfalls nur positiv bewerten. Das Preis\Leistungsverhältnis ist für mein Dafürhalten ebenfalls positiv.

Ich kann das Poseidon nur empfehlen, das Essen ist oberlecker (die Metaxasauce ein MUSS), die Bedienung immer freundlich und man muß nicht lange auf sein Essen warten, auch ohne Reservierung und vollem Restaurant wurde immer eine Lösung gefunden, schön, das es SIE gibt. Beim Ambiente, nun, da geht noch was, aber das ist auch sehr subjektiv :-)

Wir waren heute das erste Mal im Poseidon essen und sind total begeistert. Leckere Gerichte, zartes Fleisch und total sympathisches Personal. Auch die Portionen sind total ausreichend und sättigend. Für uns das beste griechische Restaurant in Kiel.

Gestern waren wir Mal wieder im Poseidon essen. Es war einfach wieder herrlich. Das Essen war wieder einmalig. Die Bedienung war wie immer total freundlich. War das Mal wieder toll

Wir hatten reserviert und waren pünktlich um 18.30 im Restaurant. Es war Samstag Abend und das Heimspiel von Holstein Kiel war vor über 3 Stunden vorbei. Es gab immer noch zahlreiche alkoholisierten Fußballfans im Restaurant, die aber von der netten Wirtin resolut im Zaum gehalten wurden. Trotzdem war der Lärmpegel kaum zu ertragen. Obwohl die meisten Gäste ihr Essen hatten, dauerte es über 1 Stunde bis wir unseres bekamen. Bei meinem Akropolis-Teller war das Giros teilweise verbrannt (verkohlt), das Lammkotelett noch roh und der Reis bei allen drei Tellern nicht schmackhaft. Die Bezahlung ging allerdings recht flott. Der obligatorische Degestif, den man ja vom Griechen kennt, wurde nicht angeboten. Fazit: Ich hätte die 53,00€ für drei Hauptgerichte und drei Softdrinks 0 4l lieber woanders ausgegeben.

Wir haben uns spontan entschieden und waren sehr zufrieden. Eine Empfehlung ist der gemischte Vorspeisenteller. Der Service war unaufdringlich, aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir kommen gern wieder!
