Restaurant Oomes Hüs in Norddorf auf Amrum

A shop with very friendly service, extremely good food and a really nice atmosphere. We were there shortly before the end of the season and relatively late in the evening, so some dishes were no longer in stock. However, this was addressed directly by the waiter and alternatives were shown. Prices normal for Amrum conditions and adjusted to the quality of the food. Highly recommend the plaice fillet with fried potatoes and the rump steak.

Zum Schluss gabs „beschwipste“ Pflaume und Waffeln mit roter Grütze. Die Bedienung war mega freundlich und es herrschte eine familiäre Atmosphäre. Morgen wieder !

Not only was the food simply good, but also the atmosphere of the employees. It's remarkable how good food becomes a special pleasure. Be sure to reserve. This would be done at the neighboring tables when paying. Unfortunately it was the last evening for us.

They don't seem to know how to deal with customers properly. We were rejected in an absolutely arrogant and impossible tone. Never again.

We were there twice on vacation because everyone deserves a second chance - especially since we really liked the food and the ambience. BUT the owner of the Oomes Huis should take the criticism of the service seriously: a certain waiter is extremely unfriendly to customers, you feel like a supplicant and it leaves a bitter aftertaste - a shame :(

The dishes were very good, the rump steak was cooked to perfection, and the special request for it was also taken into account (a little less than medium). The large and rich salad buffet is also very nice; this is part of every meal. The service was very friendly and attentive. The Pinot Gris was also winemaker quality. Overall, a successful meal.

A good and above all (currently very important) stable shop. Right-wing extremists are shown at every corner that they are unwanted. So many more stores should show their colors. The staff is always friendly, even if, as vegans, we don't always find it easy to work in the catering industry. There are very tasty vegan dishes on the menu and even 2 types of ice cream (and I'm not talking about sorbet but real ice cream). The fact that you also make sure that dogs of different guests don't sit right next to each other is also very thoughtful.

We were there in mid-August with the whole family and had a very good meal. I can only confirm the other reviews: friendly and humorous staff, special requests from the children are no problem either. Unfortunately, we noticed the loss of a brooch a few days later, emailed the restaurant, it was found and kept, then sent free of charge. Exemplary. Thank you for that. We'd love to come back!

Great service, they try to do everything right for you here. Insanely delicious food. Both the steak and the fried potatoes or the potato and pumpkin mash or the vegetable plate - simply great. Beforehand there was a small greeting from the kitchen - in our case a small cup was great - also great. Great ambience, comparatively quiet room with attention to detail. Cooking of the side dish as required, second helpings are free of charge. Great concept. We felt completely at home and reserved a table again the next day. Gladly again!

In our opinion, Oomes Hüs is the best restaurant on the island, which we have been visiting once or twice a year for more than 40 years. The food is first class and the service is unbeatably friendly and accommodating. The constantly changing daily menu means you won't get bored. The. Ambience is very cozy and appealing. You can dine indoors or in the beautiful garden, weather permitting. We have never been disappointed. We will definitely come back whenever we are on the island. Keep it up.

Unsere Speisen waren sehr gut, die Portionen gross. Trotzdem sind die Preise an der Obergrenze angekommen, auch bei den Getränken. Was zur Abwertung führte war die penetrante duzerei: respektlos und unerträglich. Die Wirtin sollte sich überlegen ob es nicht besser für ihr Geschäft wäre ihre Gäste auch so zu behandeln und nicht wie Kumpel aus der Gang.

I have been a regular guest at Oomes Hüs for a good 25 years now. The generational change has done the place a lot of good and the extension and the now not so new redesign are bringing a lot of momentum back into the place for my personal taste. Always tasty, always friendly, always full and satisfied.

A restaurant where no wish is left unfulfilled. Every recommendation is always worth 5 stars and the service deserves more than 5 stars. So friendly and professional, it's always fun to eat here :) The service is always very friendly and very quick. Every change is taken into account and never poses a problem. The menu is so varied that you can always find something :) Thank you very much and see you next time.

The three of us would have eaten here during the summer holidays. Unfortunately, despite having a reservation, we still had to wait in the narrow entrance area and were in the way of the service staff, which was a bit uncomfortable. About the food: I chose the sirloin steak, which was served after a not too long wait. Unfortunately, the accompanying fried potatoes didn't arrive until a few minutes later. I couldn't explain why this took so long. Unfortunately, the meat had already become cold in the meantime. In addition, the side dish of onions and mushrooms was very heavily salted. I would have liked that with the fried potatoes, as they had almost no seasoning at all. In addition, they were very soft and had hardly any bite. However, the dessert of the day was very tasty. For the relatively high price range, I expect better quality from a restaurant. Apart from the food, the restaurant is beautifully located and has a well-kept outdoor area.

We had made a reservation in the restaurant and - because the weather was nice - spontaneously wanted to sit outside (no reservations are possible there). Despite several free tables, we were refused this in an arrogant tone, saying we had to (!) eat inside, but other guests who were "around the corner" could come outside. We preferred not to dine there at all because of this "friendly" service and spontaneously found a restaurant around the corner with much nicer service and good food...

The Oomes Hüs is the (!) restaurant on Amrum. The clear map places a lot of emphasis on regional products. The kitchen knows how to prepare the products in a very effective way and season them cleverly. During our annual stay on the island, a visit to Oomes Hüs is always the culinary highlight. A must have for us. Great restaurant, friendly, relaxed service team. We love it!!!

Top food, nice service, great service and a great ambience. The garden of the restaurant is very beautiful, you can sit there relaxed and the furnishings are modern but tasteful. There is something on the menu for everyone, for me as a vegan there are also very nice innovative options, starter, main course and dessert. A clear recommendation for everyone. There are extra plus points for the “no beer for Nazis” sign, which makes you feel even more comfortable. Any time!

Food is very good when the dish isn't running out. You don't like to see dogs very much, even if you register them when making your reservation.

A condition that disgusts you when you order herring and casually says you don't understand why so many people order it is extremely strange. The kitchen's greeting, the goulash and the plaice were tasteless, lukewarm and free of any spice. 2* because the red jelly was uniquely good. After the visit, you and your clothes smell like fried plaice.

We arrived in Amrum in the early season (end of May) on the last ferry at 8 p.m. Most restaurants were either closed or almost closing time. Here at Oomes Hus, however, we were warmly welcomed without hesitation and provided with the best food. The atmosphere is relaxed and the doors were open long after the official closing time. The love for gastronomy is clearly noticeable here. We liked it so much that we came back the following evenings, if only to enjoy one last glass of wine in the beach chair in the romantic garden before going to bed :)

After five years, here's an UPDATE: we went out to eat with #Littlefeet and #Bigfoot at Oomes Hüs again these days. It was #Littlefeet's birthday and she was congratulated as soon as we arrived. Service very friendly and clear, prices a little more expensive, but this is now the case all over the island. Costs are rising overall, so cooking cannot be excluded. The food was very tasty. After a greeting from the kitchen, the main course arrived. The plaice Müllerin style with salad and boiled potatoes was good, although the lemons could have been a little fresher. The other dishes also tasted great, whether it was the children's steak, the potato pancakes or the beef goulash. Unfortunately, as we discovered afterwards, the salad was forgotten here. But there are worse things. The drinks were absolutely ok. As Munich locals, we are delighted that the beer is a pale ale from near Munich. What's more, the Ayinger is on tap and quenches our thirst after a long day at the beach or a long bike ride. The service was very nice and friendly, especially towards the children. Overall, we always enjoy coming here. The ambience is Nordic and very woody, yet modern. One more thing: it is made clear here that the restaurant and its hosts and crew are absolutely and clearly against racism. Very good! Absolute recommendation!

Sehr leckere aussergewöhnliche Gerichte in einem schönen Garten! Wir hatten Glück gegen 17 Uhr spontan einen Tisch zu bekommen. Die Preise sind nicht ganz günstig, aber das Essen ist es wert.

Das Essen (Empfehlungen von der 1 Seite) war superlecker. Auf das Kindermenü Fischer`s Fritz mussten wir leider warten. Das Dessert Apfelringe in Calvados und die Friesenwaffel mit Sahne und Pflaumenmus entschädigte das Warten.

After the first look at the menu and the beautiful garden, I knew that I definitely wanted to eat at this restaurant. And that's what I did, even twice during my short vacation in Amrum (unfortunately the third day was a rest day). The food is super fresh, sometimes there are very unusual creations and ideas, but everything tastes super delicious and simply different. The wine (we had the "Pink") was extremely tasty and the eggnog...a dream. This restaurant deserves a star, but now it gets 5 from me. We'll definitely see each other again!

The restaurant is detailed and lovingly furnished. This is also reflected in the dishes, in which great ingredients, surprisingly combined, result in fantastic taste. The service is very attentive and pleasantly relaxed. Always a must when in Amrum.

Oomes Hues was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. As usual in Amrum, only with reservation, which was necessary because despite the low season all the tables were occupied. The homemade crab salad is recommended. By the way, it was the only dish during the whole weekend that actually had crabs in it and I didn't have to look for them. Really tasty and very good. The housewife-style matjes were also prepared differently and were very good. A Frisian spirit rounded everything off. A total of 2 people with a starter for 100 EUR. That's just how prices are today. We would come back!

The food in Oomes Hüs really deserves 5 stars. Everything we had was really great. It's not exactly cheap, but the quality and the food give it a full 5 star rating. We found the ambience to be a bit sterile with a slightly Bavarian touch. It's certainly a matter of taste and ultimately has nothing to do with the food. The staff was very nice, but there was probably a third person missing. What quite sporty for two. A little tip: be sure to reserve a table.

The selection of dishes is a little smaller, but there is something for everyone and every dish is to the point. We've been there a few times and we've always been thrilled.

Really great location with delicious food and great service. As a greeting from the kitchen there was a beetroot soup and even though I don't like beetroot at all, it was absolutely delicious. We had the rack of lamb and the sirloin steak, both really tasty. So highly recommended and we would love to come back. Reservation would be an advantage.

We had dinner here with 12 people during our Amrum vacation. We reserved a table a few days in advance, I think that was necessary. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and designed with a lot of love. The staff is incredibly nice, attentive and humorous. I personally thought the food was outstanding. At the beginning there was a small potato soup for everyone, as a kind of greeting from the house. My main course was vegan. Breaded beetroot thalers on pea puree and potatoes. I have to say that I have rarely been served something so delicious. Kudos to the kitchen at this point! Exactly my taste. We'll definitely be back!

Everything is perfect in this cozy restaurant - food, service and ambience. Even two vegan alternatives in the main course and a number of vegan options for the desserts round off the positive overall picture. The portions are generous and are presented well to the eye. So gladly again at any time!!!!

The food was very tasty, value for money was ok. Even after asking, the waitress forgot to bring the side salad. But our suggestion to have a dessert instead of the salad was easily accepted and implemented. Service was simply uncoordinated.

We were six of us there for dinner during the week and getting a table reservation wasn't a problem, although it was only available on two days at 17:30. So booking a table well in advance will surely help as the restaurant is fully booked on most days. The service was friendly and quick. We got little bit of pumpkin soup as "greetings from the kitchen" which was a nice gesture. I had ordered Goulash for myself which came with a salad and boiled potatoes. To my surprise the Goulash itself had almost no taste and lacked proper seasoning. Even after adding salt it didn't improve much. I did taste the food of others and they were better than mine. Hence, it is possible that something went wrong with the my food. The portion sizes could have been better though.

Die kulinarische Perle von Amrum! Wir haben dieses bildschöne Hüs und Garten zufällig entdeckt und ein sensationelles Abendessen erlebt. Von meinem Sitzplatz konnte ich an die Bar und ans Küchenfenster sehen. Selten habe ich so ein eingespieltes, cooles Team erlebt. Und die haben auch noch Spaß dabei! Es ist gemütlich, der Service sehr aufmerksam, die Qualität hervorragend und die Speisekarte sehr spannend. Darf man nicht verpassen, wenn man auf Amrum ist. ☝🏼

Bereits unsere um eine Viertelstunde verfrühte Ankunft bescherte uns das erste Highlight, nämlich einen Platz im Strandkorb und ein Glas Prosecco Pino Noir (meine Version), lecker!!! Danach lief alles wie von selbst: Gruß aus der Küche (da konnte jemand mit Gewürzen umgehen, die ich nicht mag, saubere Leistung), dann Krabbensalat, Fischsuppe und schließlich die Riesenscholle "Büsumer Art" ... Drinnen wie draußen strahlt das Restaurant eine gemütliche und auch eine familiäre Atmosphäre aus. Liegt natürlich auch an dm super netten Personal. Wenn man es mag, ist man klar auf ner Insel lecker Scholle in der luxusversion mit büsumer Krabben. Alles super zubereitet und so mega frisch, wie eben grad für mich gefangen. Es war ein sehr netter Aufenthalt. Wer auf amrum ist, eine Einkehr kann ich nur empfehlen

Nach einem sehr leckeren „Gruß aus der Küche“ (pikantes Mais-Süppchen) und guten Vorspeisen waren die Scholle Büsumer Art und der Salatteller mit Kabeljau wirklich sehr gut. Sehr freundlicher und aufmerksamer Service und das helle Ambiente innen ist sehr angenehm

Hier fühlt man sich wohl und wird als Gast wahrgenommen. Auf Wünsche (Gluten, laktosefrei) wurde eingegangen. Es gab als Gruß aus der Küche ein kleines Maissüppchen. Alle Speisen waren wirklich lecker und mit frischen Zutaten zubereitet. Das Personal war sehr aufmerksam. Hier ist das Essen seinen Preis wert.

Wir waren im August 2023 das erste Mal im Oomes Hüs und sicher nicht das letzte Mal da. Die Serviceleute sind alle sehe gut drauf und immer hilfreich. Unserem Wunsch nach einer glutenfreien Alternative wurde fachmännisch entsprochen- Daumen hoch. Das Essen kam schnell, war lecker und den Preis auch wert. Sehr schönes Ambiente. Wo wir saßen war es etwas zugig, weil auch Gäste draußen bedient wurden, aber ansonsten hat wirklich alles gepasst.

Schade! Wir besuchten Omas Hüs und waren stets zufrieden. Gestern: Die bestellte Scholle war lecker aber nicht die, welche bestellt war. Dem wurde umgehend Abhilfe geschaffen. Das Fischbesteck jedoch ließ auf sich warten. Ein Mangel, der bei diesen Preisen nie geschehen dürfte. Nach dem Essen jedoch, kaum nach dem letzten Bissen wurden wir laut und unmissverständlich aufgefordert, das Lokal zu verlassen, da weitere Gäste warteten würden. Das war denn doch zuviel! Wir werden uns ein anderes Restaurant auf Amrum suchen. Wirklich schade!!

Das Essen ist zwar ausgezeichnet, aber preislich eher am oberen Limit und die Bedienung gewöhnungsbedürftig. Nach knapp 2h als wir mit unseren Tischnachbarn in ein Gespräch vertieft waren, wurden wir nicht mal höflich quasi rausgeworfen, und ob wir Nachtisch wollen war ihnen offensichtlich egal, das muss ich nicht nochmal haben. Es gibt viele andere Alternativen in Norddorf, wo man sich willkommener fühlt und der Tisch wieder besetzt wird, wenn die Gäste gehen wollen.

Am letzten Abend haben wir es endlich geschafft, hier einen Strandkorb im Garten zu erwischen - ein schöner Sommerabend. Drinnen muss man reservieren, draußen nicht. Nach tollem Fisch die Woche über bestellten wir zwei Hüftsteaks mit Bratkartoffeln, Champignons und Rumkugeln zum Dessert. Ein junges, freches Küchen- und Serviceteam arbeitet hier offensichtlich mit viel Spaß. Das Essen war Spitze!
