Restaurant Menuett in Düsseldorf

I had an unique experience with the service of Mr. Merten. I haven't been treated with kindness, professionalism and excellence for long time.

We came to the restaurant for coffee and cake on a Saturday afternoon. Upon entering, we waited a while for someone to show us a table. After a while, no one came, so we looked for a member of staff to seat us. All the staff were standing next to the counter, chatting. When we asked, they told us we could choose whichever table we wanted to sit at. We chose the terrace. After a few minutes, a member of staff handed us a bistro menu. It ultimately took almost half an hour for a member of staff to take our order. Another 20 minutes passed when suddenly the member of staff who had initially given us the bistro menus appeared at our table and wanted to take our order. That would have taken almost an hour to choose from a bistro menu. When, after another 10 minutes, none of our drinks or food had arrived, a member of our group went inside and asked. Our order was served shortly thereafter. After we'd finished our drinks and food, we wanted to order something else, but the staff again didn't show up. Finally, one of the group went back into the restaurant and noted that the service was somewhat disorganized. After that, the staff appeared in the dining area a little more frequently. In summary, the service in the restaurant was not up to the standard one would expect from a hotel like the Steigenberger. There were enough staff on site, and the restaurant was only visited on the terrace. There, not even half the tables were occupied. Although we only had coffee, cake, and an Alt (alt beer), we sat in the restaurant for almost three hours. And that was mainly due to the wait.

We had brunch with the family. Unfortunately, the selection and quality of the food and drinks were at best at the level of a mid-range hotel. The ambiance, with an improvised setup behind the buffet, was also borderline. The Vreitenbacher Hof is on a completely different level.
