Restaurant Menuett in Düsseldorf

I had an unique experience with the service of Mr. Merten. I haven't been treated with kindness, professionalism and excellence for long time.

We came to the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon for coffee and cake. When we entered we waited a while for someone to come and give us a table. After no one came for a while, we looked for an employee who could accommodate us. All the employees stood next to the counter in the restaurant and chatted. When we asked, they said we were free to choose which table we wanted to sit at. We chose the terrace. After a few minutes, an employee handed out a bistro menu. It finally took almost half an hour for an employee to take our order. Another 20 minutes passed when the employee who had initially given us the bistro tickets suddenly stood at our place and wanted to take the order. That would have taken almost 1 hour to choose from a bistro menu. When after another 10 minutes none of our drinks or food came, a person from our group went into the restaurant and asked. Our order was served shortly afterwards. When the drinks and food were consumed, we wanted to order something else, but the staff didn't show up again. Finally, one of the group went back into the restaurant and took this opportunity to comment that the service was a bit disorganized. After that, the employees appeared in the guest area a little more often. In summary, the service in the restaurant is not of the standard that one would expect from a place like the Steigenberger. There was enough staff on site and the restaurant was only visited on the terrace. Not even half of the tables there were occupied. Even though we only drank coffee, cake and an Alt, we sat in the restaurant for almost 3 hours. And that's mainly because of the waiting times.

We had brunch with the family. Unfortunately, the selection and quality of the food and drinks was at best at the level of a mid-range hotel. The ambience with an improvised conversion behind the buffet was also borderline. The vreitenbacher Hof is on a completely different level
