We've had some very good meals here in the past. The service is usually very friendly. However, the schnitzel wasn't exceptional for the price. The same goes for the Kaiserschmarrn. There, we were charged extra for apple sauce (+7€) per portion. In general, the bill often contains surprises. This should be improved.

A fantastic restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide. The starting point is Austrian cuisine, subtly reinterpreted with a variety of international influences. The menu is highly original and unique, which is certainly reflected in the prices. All the dishes were delicious, and with a suitable wine, it leaves little to be desired. We would especially like to highlight the truly excellent service. The restaurant is very child-friendly, and we were able to enjoy the meal with our young daughter without any problems. We would be happy to return and can wholeheartedly recommend the Lohninger.

We went to Lohninger in Frankfurt for dinner. The food was good, but the service and table management were unfortunately completely lacking. We had a reservation for 7:00 p.m. and were already in the restaurant at 6:40 p.m. At 7:40 p.m., the waiter asked us when we would vacate the table – as it would be booked again after 8:00 p.m. We actually wanted to order dessert. A table for just one hour? There was nothing about that in the reservation! A lovely evening at a good restaurant with my wife – our wedding anniversary – was completely ruined. Very disappointing. Lohninger, seat six. This is unacceptable.

We had a 9 p.m. reservation, but unfortunately, some dishes were already sold out. One server was very friendly, the other less attentive. The price and quality didn't quite match up for us – for example, the sweet potatoes weren't convincing, and the apple sauce for the Kaiserschmarrn was charged extra. Overall, a solid restaurant, but there are comparatively better options in Austria.

Mario LOHNINGER is a top chef with extensive experience from several "stations." His dishes reflect his extensive experience in Austria, France, the USA, and Asian influences. In NY, he was head chef at the trendy restaurant DANUBE - he was one of the best in NY and popular with the "scene." Bono with U2 was also enthusiastic. After NY, he joined Sven Faeth at "COCOON": mega, top-notch dishes, lots of Japanese, a great atmosphere, and very popular. Also the "LIEGESTATION" (eating while lying down) and now the LOHNINGER in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen, popular because it's very good: very good product quality, cheerful and attentive service. And always well attended: I like it very, very much. 😜👍🏼🍷🥂🦞🥩🫛🥒

Das Lokal verfügt jetzt im Sommer zusätzlich über einen Aussenbereich. Aufgrund der Lage direkt an der Kreuzung ist der Lärmpegel außen ab und an schon laut, aber dafür sitzt man bei schönem Wetter im Freien. Innen ist die Einrichtung sehr ansprechend mit einem Mix aus Moderne und gemütlich arrangierten Tischen, wobei auch größere Gruppen jederzeit und unproblematisch untergebracht werden können. Eine Reservierung ist auf jeden Fall zwingend erforderlich. Die Parkplatzsituation gestaltet sich ein wenig schwierig, da das Restaurant leider über keine eigenen Parkplätze verfügt. Wir befinden uns mitten in Sachsenhausen, weswegen man wohl auf die umliegenden Parkhäuser zurückgreifen sollte, zumal die Verkehrskontrollen doch erheblich und zahlreich sind. Die Weinkarte ist überschaubar, aber wartet mit einer Reihe überraschender Köstlichkeiten auf. Nur beispielhaft sei erwähnt der Winzersekt als Aperitif, der weiß oder rosé angeboten wird. Bei einem so hochwertigen Winzersekt kann man den ebenfalls angebotenen Champagner wirklich mal auslassen. Es wird täglich ein Mittagstisch angeboten. Man kann aber ebenso a la carte bestellen. Eröffnet wird das Essen mit einem Gruß aus der Küche, der stets aufs Neue erkennen lässt, dass hier auf einem sehr hohen Niveau gekocht wird. Wir kommen etwa monatlich einmal hierher und bestellen eigentlich immer die gleiche Menüabfolge. Das Tatar sucht seines gleichen. Es wird handgeschnitten auf winzigen Bratkartoffelwürfeln serviert, mit einem Stundenei oben auf. Die Würzung ist immer wieder ein Erlebnis. Besser kann man ein Rindertatar wohl nicht zubereiten und servieren. Daran anschließend das Wiener Schnitzel vom Kalb. Wenn man das Photo des perfekten Wiener Schnitzels für ein Kochbuch machen möchte, dann sollte man hierher kommen. Die Zubereitung ist einfach perfekt. Genau die richtige Stärke des Schnitzels, genau die richtige Stärke und Kürzung der Panade, die sich perfekt aufgeworfen und gewellt hat, dazu ein "richtiges" Preiselbeer-Kompott und ein gemischter Salat incl. Kartoffel- und Gurkensalat sowie weiteren saisonalen Blattsalaten. Die ideale frische Ergänzung zum Wiener Schnitzel. Tja und dann noch das Highlight als Dessert: Der Kaiserschmarrn. Leicht und fluffig wird er serviert, nicht zu süß, sondern gerade richtig mit Puderzucker bestäubt, mit einer Kugel Eis dazu und hausgemachtem Apfelkompott. Kleiner Tipp: Zusätzlich noch ein Schälchen von den Preiselbeeren bestellen. Unsere gemeinsamen Mittagessen hier sind immer wieder ein kulinarisches Erlebnis und es ist nicht absehbar, dass wir uns nach einer anderen Location für unsere Treffen zum Mittagessen umsehen müssten. Das ganze ist nicht billig, aber die gebotenen Leistungen, vor allem auch der ausnehmend gute, aufmerksame und hilfsbereite Service rechtfertigen die Preiskategorie.

I was recently involved in an accident near this restaurant - completely distraught and thirsty, I ran in and asked to buy a bottle of water. Instead of sympathy or help, I got the cold answer: “Our water is expensive, go to the kiosk.” No offer to get at least a glass of tap water. I moved on disappointed. A few minutes later the employee came outside with a tiny glass of water and said: "Don't look at me like that, I'm nice! I thought you might not be able to pay for it - in our case it costs €10!" This was not an expression of kindness, but rather a condescending comment. I later returned the glass with €10 - not because I didn't have the money, but because I lacked compassion. I haven't eaten anything, but this experience alone is enough to make me know that humanity here is apparently worth less than a glass of water.

The Lohninger restaurant is an institution in Frankfurt - on the one hand because of the owner, who is well-known in the media, and on the other hand because of the long-standing, integral part of a wide range of gastronomic offerings in the Frankfurt Sachsenhausen district. We wanted to get to know the restaurant. The two of us were there on a Saturday lunchtime. There were five service staff at the entrance. Nobody was really interested in us. After much back and forth we were brought to the table. The menu was brought to us quickly, after which several waiters walked past us several times without taking our order. After 15 minutes someone decided to come to our table. We each had an aperitif, wine with the main course, starter and main course. The quality of the food was basically okay, but the schnitzel in particular was very small and, considering the craftsmanship we had already learned about making a schnitzel, rather average. Overall, it was noticeable that the service team was purely a team of men and served the guests somewhat complacently. Not bad at all, but not really convincing either. If you really want to go out for authentic, upscale Austrian food, I recommend Plachutta in Vienna. Unfortunately, Lohninger is more of an in-restaurant to see and be seen, where everything is more appearance than reality, than a really good upscale restaurant. Too bad.

Love to the Lohninger team, you're great, keep it up. We were greeted very friendly by the whole team and seated despite the store being full, we got a place for two people without a reservation. My wife had never had a schnitzel before, so we decided on the schnitzel and it was the best I've ever eaten. Since my wife didn't know Kaiserschmarren either, I also ordered a portion for two. The best comes last and it was actually the best thing I've eaten so far. Many thanks to the maestro boss Lohninger who personally comes to the tables and makes sure everything is in order. We felt very comfortable and welcome here at Lohninger and are looking forward to our next visit. We can recommend Lohninger with a clear conscience and wish the whole team continued success and keep it up 👍. If you have no idea, you should just keep your mouth shut because Lohninger is a big cinema, the service is professional and at a high level. Some star restaurants should take a leaf out of their hat, no one is aloof here and treats everyone the same, that's how it should be. I understand all the wannabe critics about not eating took too long? Good things take time - the kitchen has 20 minutes to send the food after it is called - that's how it is in the catering industry No frozen or ready-made products are put into the deep fryer here. If you want, you are welcome to look around further and have nothing to look for in these top-categorized restaurants. It was very quick or it was rushed, we didn't have the feeling that it was rushed, but the restaurant is a small family restaurant and the demand is high when you come here to eat and enjoy it. It's not a café where you spend 5 hours sucking on your latte macchiatto. The waiters/waiters who work here are not machines who have other things to do than just look after a table. Those who come to Lohninger and complain after leaving and don't clarify it straight away should simply stop going and find another address because you're in better hands. One of the upscale restaurants in Frankfurt that we have wanted to visit for a long time and that was often recommended to us. We had the Wiener Schnitzel and lamb; Both were delicious in principle, but there was no enthusiasm - especially when it came to the prices. The restaurant doesn't have a Michelin star either. The service no longer cared about us once we received the main course, nor did they care about the tables next to us. People were busy re-setting tables (at 9:30 p.m.). We would have liked to drink something more, but we didn't even make eye contact - a shame. Conclusion for us: once is enough.

Last night the two of us had dinner in the Lohninger Restaurant again after a long time. The dishes we ordered were carefully cooked, the service was pleasant and professional, and the ambience remained elegant. However, the prices surprised us a bit. The Wiener Schnitzel with a little potato and cucumber salad now costs €42, a pan of Kaiserschmarrn with two spoonfuls of applesauce and two homeopathic small scoops of vanilla ice cream cost €33. 3 small Gillardeau oysters as a starter (I usually buy them for €2.50 each in the small market hall) cost €26. It is clear that restaurant rent, staff and everything else necessary must be paid reasonably. However, in my opinion, the price-performance ratio has become too skewed, even for the Frankfurt price level. The Lohninger is now significantly more expensive than several Michelin star restaurants in the area. Carefully prepared food made from high-quality ingredients with attentive service can never be cheap, but I think it should still be in reasonable proportion to the price charged. For me, this relationship got out of hand with Lohninger.

We felt very comfortable, service was very warm and courteous. The food is brilliant, everything is really very tasty. I would particularly like to highlight the fact that the restaurant is very good for people who rely on gluten-free food. Everything can be ordered gluten-free, the support and advice is very good, so you really feel safe when you order gluten-free. That was really absolutely great! Happy to come back! My family and I went there for my birthday. We were told: “Longinger has the best schnitzel in Germany!”. So we arrive and are coldly turned away by the waitress. “You still have to wait” Of course we had a reservation. No excuse. We were able to order drinks at the bar, but of course they weren't on the house after waiting 20 minutes... The starter comes, everything is great. The main course comes and is good. The best schnitzel in Germany? Absolutely not. I've eaten better in Frankfurt. And then another €42 for it? I was just about full. When my father asked if he could get a knife for his fish, another waiter told him carelessly and very loudly that this fish should be eaten without a knife and that the sharper side of the fork should be used. Very unpleasant looks from staff. Unfortunately the Kaiserschmarrn was a disappointment. €24 for something that tasted more like scrambled eggs than dessert. We were charged extra for applesauce and cranberries… The cherry on top was when the waitress dumped cranberries on a suit jacket. There wasn't a single apology or help with wiping, just a note that we should send the cleaning bill to the restaurant. The boss himself came out of the kitchen once to ask how everything was, which was a nice gesture. Was the food good? Yes Was it worth the price? Never Friendly staff? No Would I come back? Definitely not. There are much better fine dining experiences in Frankfurt!

A gastronomic mystery – or just an expensive laughing stock? While walking down Schweizer Straße, my eye caught a sparkling sign: Lohninger. A name that is mentioned with reverence in culinary circles - as if it were the holy grail of Austrian cuisine. But just a quick look at the menu made me wonder: this isn't just where you eat - it's where you invest. The temple of high prices A Wiener Schnitzel for 42 euros, a Kaiserschmarrn for 24 euros - sums that would be enough for an entire menu in other restaurants. The descriptions of the dishes sounded impressive, almost poetic, as if a gourmet writer had had his most creative phase. “Yellowfin tuna sashimi with edamame tofu cream and Matsuhisa dressing.” Sounds noble, but is it filling? Service at a high level – or not? You hear a lot about this restaurant. From guests who make reservations months in advance, only to find that the restaurant is spontaneously going on holiday - without notice. Others report unanswered requests or surprises like a missing drinks menu for those who don't drink wine. The special atmosphere There are restaurants where you feel welcome. And then there are those where you get the feeling that the staff doesn't actually have time for you. If you don't eat at the right pace, you'll feel the waiter's gaze. Anyone who makes a critical comment will be treated with cool professionalism that will not raise any further questions. Conclusion Ultimately, the impression is that this restaurant takes itself a little too seriously. The prices are high, the quality may be solid - but is it enough to offer a truly great experience? Unfortunately not for me. 1 out of 5 stars.

It was our first time there and it certainly wouldn't be the last time. After a warm welcome, we were shown to our seats. Whether it was the greeting from the kitchen or all the dishes we got were very, very tasty. The schnitzel was salty in some places, but as soon as I ate it with cranberries it was perfect. After a long wait, without any complaints from us, the service responded very well, we received what we considered to be the world's best Kaiserschmarrn and super delicious applesauce and vanilla ice cream. Definitely try it! When it comes to the ambience, we noticed that everything is very close together and it would be good to remove one or two tables to make it more pleasant to walk around and also to be able to have table conversations more calmly. As well as the wardrobe, it should be packaged more beautifully, e.g. put curtains in front of it, and also consider a concept so that the jackets can be found more quickly, such as labeling the hangers with the table numbers.

Had a nice table for three. We had schnitzel and the ox cheeks and of course Kaiserschmarren at the end. The food was good. But expensive and not adequate for performance! A normal portion was too big for my companions and we ordered 2 small wieners. One was charged at 32.00. A normal one probably costs 39,-?! The service was always there and responded quickly. But sometimes in a bad mood and almost condescending. A glass of wine with 0.1 liters costs 14,-! But people, what's not working is what you do with the coats! Anyone who goes out to eat like this also has a high-quality jacket or coat. The things then hang on a wire rack?!? All on top of each other?!

The ambience of the restaurant is appealing, rather upscale, but still pleasant. Unfortunately, the quality of the food can't quite keep up with the prices. The dishes on the plate did not always correspond exactly to the description on the menu. Ordering dessert was a special experience: it was expressly pointed out that some desserts could take up to 30 minutes. I have never encountered such a notice in any other restaurant. You don't eat in the canteen, you bring your time with you. A real annoyance, however, was the handling of our table reservation. Even though our wine glasses were still half full, the staff already started preparing our table for the next guests. We were told that other guests were already waiting - an extremely unpleasant moment. It remains unclear whether the reservation was actually limited to two hours or whether our order of over 250 euros for three people was considered insufficient. Either way: I'd rather not try this a second time.

We went there for lunch with friends because we wanted to enjoy real Austrian specialties and we weren't disappointed. The Wiener Schnitzel was tender and the breading was airy, golden and crispy. The schnitzel was served with a successful potato and cucumber salad as side dishes. The lamb's lettuce provided was dressed with walnut oil. The Kaiserschmarrn was airy and fluffy and just as it should be. The lunch menu (starter salad, monkfish and baked apple) was also very well received. We'd love to come back.

The food is really great, even if one of the schnitzels was a bit salty. Starters were awesome. The service is friendly. But I don't think there are a few things that are so nice. The type of wardrobe and that doesn't really help, now non-alcoholic drinks like an aperitif should also be a bit more creative like San Bitter, the seating is not particularly comfortable and very narrow.

We go to Lohninger more often and always take a nice table in the front left area. We find the area a bit quieter, the tables are spaced further apart and the acoustics are better 🎶. Tip: It's best to reserve by email and ask for a table in the front area 📧. Our standard menu: Beef tartare as a starter 🥩, followed by the classic Wiener schnitzel 🐄. The highlight for us is always the Kaiserschmarren 🍮 - the fluffiest we've ever eaten! If you order Kaiserschmarren, you should bring a little more time ⏳ as it is freshly prepared. And anyone who has ever made it themselves knows why that is the case 😉. A suggestion to the restaurant: Maybe they could add dealcoholized wines 🍇 to the offer. Non-alcoholic aperitifs often tend to be too sweet, and dealcoholized wines would be a great, elegant alternative 🥂. What should be highlighted is the always attentive service 🤵♀️ and the pleasant audience. We always enjoy coming to Lohninger – absolutely recommended! 🌟

Lohninger is an Austrian restaurant with international influence. The ambience and the prices (a bottle of water costs €11) are upscale. Overall, we enjoyed the six-course menu, but it doesn't have a (Michelin) star level. The service staff is very friendly and authentic, but only knows the menu superficially. Some of the additives/allergens on the menu are incorrect. For the high prices (more than €150 per person) I would have expected more professionalism here. The reservation does not work smoothly. I was asked by text message the day before the appointment to confirm the reservation and I did so, including confirmation. Nevertheless, on the day of the reservation I was asked again by phone to confirm the reservation. It is emphasized several times that you only have a two-hour slot for food, I can understand that, but it seems as if the restaurant is very focused on efficiency, which significantly reduces the impression for the guests.

We've been to Lohninger several times before, but unfortunately it didn't work out this time. The food was delicious, no question, but it was better. Unfortunately, the biggest point of criticism is the service. The staff - sorry to be so clear - is of a fast food standard... inattentive, error-prone and unfriendly! Some of them were forgotten, we weren't even asked for another glass of wine or a bottle of water - which, by the way, is already outrageously overpriced at €11. The atmosphere was more like a mass processing with royal prices. I like to spend good money if everything fits. However, the price-performance ratio is no longer right here - unfortunately.

I love Lohninger and its legendary Kaiserschmarren! Nevertheless, you can only book for 2 hours and if you then want to enjoy the 6-course menu, that's contradictory. The service is friendly and accommodating but puts the bottle on the glass and sometimes pours it over the hand. In other words, things have slowed down a bit. I don't want to talk about the sometimes strange clientele. I wish everyone recognizes and appreciates good food as a human being. Poor the one who can't do that or has never learned. But the quality of the food is still amazing. We weren't thrown out after 2 hours, but another solution was found for the new guests😉

We went to Restaurant Lohninger for the first time on Saturday evening - the reason was the "Luftschnitzel" and the "Kaiserschmarrn" - result: the almost 200 km long journey was absolutely worth it...the service was top, the food was top, the wine was top, The atmosphere was great, the price-performance ratio was great - we will definitely come back!!

Service seemed very overwhelmed, you felt forgotten the whole time while several waiters were working at the same time at another table. The food itself was delicious, even if the schnitzel in particular was quite overpriced in terms of value for money. And be careful with the Kaiserschmarrn: one portion was ordered. Vanilla ice cream and applesauce were brought separately to the Kaiserschmarrn, for two people, which at first seemed like a nice touch, until an extra €7 was charged for them. At least some information about it would have been nice.

We went to Mario Lohninger's in the evening during the week and ate the 6th course menu. Upon agreement, one could kindly swap a gear and off we went. Luckily we discovered our favorite Riesling in the wine list, so the evening was a good one. Beforehand, our waiter served a small appetizer from the kitchen and all courses arrived at a pleasant pace. The courses were all very high quality in all areas. We found the good quality of the food particularly positive. When it was slowly coming to an end and our dessert was approaching, the kitchen surprised us again with a delicious sorbet greeting :) I then thanked Mario on Instagram but unfortunately he hasn't replied "yet" :DD but thank you very much and all the best Team keep it up

Simply overpriced for what is offered. The schnitzel was solid, but nothing more. The breading isn't airy enough, the salads are bland. You can find this better in any pub in Vienna. And I prefer to keep quiet about the price of the fry soup. The service was friendly, but cold and distant. I didn't really feel welcome.

We had made a reservation for a special occasion weeks ago, but upon arrival we were told that we should hurry up with our order as the table was only available for us for 2 hours. We therefore asked whether the 6-course menu was possible during this time, and the answer was yes. After there was no dessert on the table 10 minutes before our time was up, we were asked to move to stools at the bar so that the guests who were already waiting could come to the table. So we had to move with our glasses in hand to a tiny table in the corner next to the entrance, where all the guests and waiters constantly had to squeeze through. In principle, double occupancy is understandable, but the implementation was subpar. If you spend over €150 per person, you would happily finish your meal sitting down (it wouldn't have been a problem to only have three courses instead of the menu, but that's why we asked beforehand). The food itself was great, but given the service and the ambience you can understand that the restaurant doesn't deserve any more stars.

Very polite and kind staff! We ordered Wiener Schnitzel which was tasty along with its side salad and berries marmalade. They serve you pumpkin soup as a starter and slices of bread with butter. The soup was very good! As a dessert, we chose kaiserschmarrn with ice cream. It was ok. BUT as for the prices, I think the restaurant is a bit overpriced on its plates. The bottle of water was quite expensive and when one bottle was over, they kept serving you another with the relevant cost. Until you say it by yourself to stop. We shared the dessert with the other people of the group. They brought extra 4 scoops (small) of ice cream, which were charged with 7€ each. So for one dessert, we have payed 26 (dessert) + 4 scoops (28€). Too much for a dessert!

A culinary masterpiece In today's world, when more and more restaurants are vying for the attention of gourmets, a restaurant only really stands out if it impresses in all disciplines - cuisine, wine selection and service. I had the pleasure of visiting such an establishment and I can confidently say that it exceeded expectations in every way. As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel the attention to detail. The stylish, yet inviting ambience creates an atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home. But the real highlight of this evening was undoubtedly the food. The menu is modern and creative without appearing overloaded. The dishes are a perfect symbiosis of traditional flavors and innovative techniques. Every course was a journey for the senses – from the starter to the dessert. I was particularly impressed by the main course: tender braised lamb with an aromatic red wine reduction that literally melted in your mouth. The harmony of flavors and the precision of the preparation were impressive. Not to be forgotten is the wine selection, which was simply excellent. The wine accompaniment to each course was put together with the greatest care and expertise, so that every sip perfectly underlined the flavors of the food. The wine list offered an impressive selection of regional and international top wines, some of which were real insider tips. The service at this restaurant is at a level rarely found. The staff were always attentive without being intrusive and had a remarkable sensitivity to the guests' needs. Friendly, knowledgeable and with a noticeable passion for gastronomy, the service staff made a decisive contribution to this unforgettable evening. All in all, this restaurant offers a first-class dining experience. From the cuisine to the wine to the service – everything is just right here. It certainly won't be my last visit.

Unfortunately we received very subpar service. There is probably no drinks menu if you don't want to drink wine. If you then ask, the drinks are not brought to you. Emails following the visit will not be responded to. I would avoid the restaurant because the service is not worth the money. The Kaiserschmarrn is more of a half raw something and has nothing to do with a Kaiserschmarrn from Austria. Not everything should be negative, the schnitzels are good but unfortunately that's it.

Always worth a visit, the food and the ambience as well as the service are excellent. Only the double occupancy of the tables is annoying, following a general trend. Being limited to 2 hours without being asked and being told shortly before the end that the time is up doesn't sit well with Lohninger. We would have liked to try the current menu, but 6 courses in 2 hours was too much stress for us, so we had 3 courses a la carte, which was already tight.

This stop for a quick lunch without a reservation was pleasantly rewarded. The restaurant itself has just 16 tables in a classic, formal dining room with high ceilings, custom chandeliers, and otherwise muted decor and additional patio seating. The lunch menu available was predominantly seafood, of which I enjoyed both the monkfish and yellowfin sashimi. Of course, my servers were efficient and courteous. I have to return. / This stop for a quick no-reservations lunch was pleasantly rewarded. The restaurant itself has only 16 tables inside a classic formal dining room with high ceilings, custom chandeliers, and otherwise muted decor, and additional seating on the terrace. The available lunch menu was predominantly seafood, from which I enjoyed both the monkfish and the yellowfin sashimi. Of course my servers were efficient and accommodating. Four of us had dinner and had a wonderful evening with great food and very nice service. Compared to other restaurants in the class, I found it to be far too expensive overall for what was on offer. At first I found it very thoughtful to bring the applesauce and vanilla ice cream in two small portions of a shared Kaiserschmarrn - until I found the second cups on the bill without any notice for 7 EUR in advance - that left a slightly bland aftertaste. My tip – a little more love when preparing and, above all, open information to the guests.

First of all: The quality and preparation of the food was fantastic. The ambience is also very pleasant. We visited the restaurant with a group of 10 people. We were there especially because of the famous Wiener Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn. It gave us the impression that this was a thorn in the operator's side. At the beginning, the service was quite persistent in trying to offer us additional appetizers, plates to share, etc., even after we declined. The schnitzel was great, as already described. The two salads served with it were also excellent. Overall, not a small portion either. For dessert we ordered three Kaiserschmarrn to share. Without really asking, all 10 people were still served ice cream and apple compote, which of course was also charged for. Some guests had no desire for dessert at all, but okay - it was really delicious. What really pisses us off is how we use water. We ordered two bottles of wine and water. The wait staff is obviously encouraged to pour out as much as possible - as the entire group was refilled every few minutes. Even after dessert, when the bill had already been ordered, another bottle was opened, even though it was expressly stated that no more refills should be given. Charging €12 for a bottle of water is outrageous, even for Frankfurt. A box with 12 bottles of Bad Camberger costs €13, just saying. So the restaurant managed to add €120 to our bill for water alone. A restaurant with such great food shouldn't need to use such methods to drive up the bill. We consistently felt like we weren't really welcome because we didn't order in abundance. It was a weekday and there were still a few tables available, so at my discretion we didn't take seats from guests who would have eaten larger menus. Really a shame.
