Restaurant Levantine Nürnberg in Nürnberg

Update 11/11/24: As with other reviews, action was taken against my review for “defamation”. You can now make your own judgment about it. I don't feel the need to do something like this, but I believe that good and bad experiences should be shared here. Everyone is free to decide how to deal with it. --------------- We were guests last week (9/25/24) because of the cuisine, which was relatively unknown to us, and also the very good reviews. As far as nice service, despite the uncertainty about what and how much we should order, we were given a detailed and friendly recommendation of a well-mixed variation of mezze and main course, which we gratefully followed. The food was without exception very tasty, very well seasoned, varied and generally well balanced. The prices of the mezze can certainly be debated, as at up to €17 per starter it quickly adds up to a good sum, but this is at least clearly visible. Afterwards we were recommended a pistachio ice cream as the dessert of the day, we shared a portion, in retrospect I have to say "luckily" because we were quite surprised by the bill. 2 drinks ordered, 3 mezzes, 1 dip (cold starter), 1 taboule salad, a main course and the dessert for €171 for two. We complied with the questionable request "to pay together, otherwise the boss would have to pay double transaction fees" with a smile. Out of pure perplexity about the amount and to avoid an unpleasant situation, we didn't even ask about the amount, let alone get an invoice, otherwise I would have attached a photo here. After a short research, the dessert of the day that wasn't on the menu cost around €26 and the one that was already on the table ("You're welcome to help yourself to water at any time") doesn't immediately imply, in my personal opinion, that this is the case has to be paid, but yes, you could certainly have guessed) water for a whopping €8.50 each is explained as the supposed reason for the high sum. I'm happy to pay a little more for good food, but not for overpriced food or hidden prices, as in this case. Therefore, as a personal recommendation: To be on the safe side, anything that is additionally on the table, comes to the table unknowingly or is not even on the menu, ask for the price beforehand or (unlike us) get a receipt in order to avoid something like that. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time you've read this, the owner's reaction when he does it is anything from unreasonable to cheeky/impolite, which creates a feeling like the saying "dogs bark when they're hit". Again: great ambience, great service and absolutely outstanding food, but partly opaque and horrendously overpriced offerings, which unfortunately clouds the overall package in retrospect and leads to this rating. Readers can now judge for themselves.

Extremely overpriced. Price performance definitely doesn't fit. €5.90 for a bottled beer. How can this be justified? The food was overall quite good but not worth the money. I'm happy to pay for quality but not for more appearance than reality. The now deleted responses to critical reviews are or were very, very violent. Critical reviews were commented on with wild insults. A highlight is certainly the owner's self-written review with the name “TTT” and “Thank you” underneath :) I hope and wish the restaurant can deal with criticism more constructively in the future. The store itself is beautiful and has potential. However, the 4.9 stars now definitely do not reflect reality... you are repeatedly advised to leave a positive review and then you will also get something on the house. It will then be checked immediately whether you have rated. March 30, 2023 strange all these 5 star reviews from people who are all writing their first review. A rogue who thinks evil of it :) 09/02/23 The operator has tried to delete my review several times. Luckily without success. Don't be fooled. To this day we are still appalled by the restaurant. September 3, 2023 Why can't you respond objectively and appropriately to criticism? When you pay, you are almost forced to leave a positive review. Negative reviews will be deleted. 09/04/2023 Now the alleged xenophobia is starting again. Please just take criticism to heart instead of insulting people with such nonsensical claims... It doesn't matter what nationality you are. Ps. for me all people are equal. No matter your origin, religion, sexuality or whatever. Negative reviews disappear here every day. Maybe you'll look into that? Why does a double espresso cost another 4.90? 12/16/23 There is the next review from the owner himself :) and then he replies to the review he wrote himself... If it weren't so serious, you could actually laugh. 7.11.24 it starts again. As soon as a critical comment comes, the person is informed that it is wrong and that it is not welcome here...but usually the reactions are all deleted after a short time. Luckily there are screenshots!

Went there for dinner with the family yesterday. The dishes were all delicious and the service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant itself is also very cozy, the toilets are very clean. All in all, a great atmosphere and a successful evening. We were definitely not there for the last time!

Reserved a table 3 times within 4 months - received a cancellation 3 times shortly before. Either the chef is sick or you are suddenly fully booked (even though reservations are made over the phone beforehand with a binding confirmation). I'm giving up...

A trip into a thousand and one nights. The service was perfect, the food was delicious and the whole thing was super cozy. We'll definitely be back soon. For us it was a vacation for an evening in the middle of Nuremberg.

Once you have found the slightly hidden entrance you will be warmly welcomed by the staff. The food is fantastic, plentiful and, as far as I can tell, really authentic. Eating like with friends in the living room is best. Very happy again!

Amazing place! Food and service level 1000🫶🔥

The food up front is outstanding! In my opinion the prices are a bit excessive, but due to the large number of ingredients it is at least somewhat understandable. We didn't know exactly what to order, so we were offered a mix of different starters. In total we ended up with 10-12 medium sized starter plates, although we were charged for 15. After a long discussion we gave up because all the plates had already been cleared and we could hardly prove it. At the risk of being accused of damaging your reputation like other negative reviews that go in a similar direction, I can only say that if 5 people all agree on the number of plates and other guests have already described similar experiences, mine I can see a certain pattern. It's a shame, it would have been a 4-5 star rating by the end.

Water for 8.50 EUR. And the rest is just usury, see for yourself! As far as I'm concerned, the food usually tastes so good, but charging almost 10 EUR for water alone is pure disgrace!

Mega Lebanese food prepared traditionally and heartily felt like it was locally in Lebanon. The ambience is high quality and very lovingly designed. During our visit there were probably 30 guests who didn't have a seat or a reservation, which was very well attended. Very highly recommended. We were served by two Arnold Schwarzenegger guys, great guys, everyone is very nice and well-spoken.

We had a delicious meal here, served very quickly and way too much. Friendly hosts, asked every few minutes if everything was good, perhaps a bit too excessive 😊

It is not fair to charge €17 for 2 unwanted bottles of water served as soon as you sit at the table. Taboule which was a dish of parsley with a few pomegranate seeds.

Wow, that's all you can say! I haven't had such great food in a long time! For me the new top address when I go to Nuremberg again. Not exactly cheap, but quality (and wine ;-)) has its price. Thanks to Johann for the great evening

Great service, great food definitely a place to visit if you come to Nürnberg.

A fantastic short adventure into Lebanese hospitality! Johann took us into his world right on the way to the table. Instead of looking through the menu for a long time, my colleague and I let Johann select the best warm and cold starters for us. Of course, consideration was given to my colleague as a vegetarian. The taste was exceptionally good! Our favorite was the inconspicuous mixed vegetables in tahini sauce: beware, addictive! We sat outside on the street, but it was wonderfully quiet right in the old town. Oriental music came from the shop and on the way to the toilet I was able to marvel at the lovely interior furnishings. Absolute recommendation!

Uno dei migliori ristoranti libanesi nei quali abbia mai mangiato (ed in Medio Oriente ho viaggiato diverse volte). L’aspetto che mi ha maggiormente colpito di questo ristorante è la freschezza degli ingredienti che utilizzano per la preparazione dei piatti. Sia l’hummus che il mutabbal erano cremosi e sapidi, ottime anche le carni. Abbiamo bevuto un vino libanese che si chiama Minardy assolutamente dignitoso. Concludiamo con un semifreddo al pistacchio in stile libanese squisito ma che non sono riuscito a finire per la mancanza di spazio nello stomaco Il prezzo è alto (abbiamo speso circa 73 euro a testa) ma devo dire che l’ho trovato commisurato alla qualità di quello che abbiamo mangiato.

4.5 - We really enjoyed our experience here. The service was prompt, pleasant and very accommodating. Most all of the dishes that were suggested were very good, and the rest were good. Seating inside can get a little cramped, but the decor is great. Outdoor seating was nice.

Wow, this Lebanese restaurant is amazing! The food is incredibly tasty and fresh, every dish is an absolute taste experience. The service is simply incredible - so friendly and attentive that you feel like a VIP. The atmosphere is unique and ensures an unforgettable experience. For me, this is the absolute insider tip and the best oriental restaurant in all of Nuremberg. I can't wait to go back! A must for every foodie!

War ein Versuch und eine ziemliche Enttäuschung: Preis-Leistung völlig unangemessen, Qualität auch nicht durchgehend gut. Wir kennen uns lieben Mezze, bevorzugen dafür in Zukunft wieder unsere anderen bewährten Adressen. Da bekommen wir z.B. auch genügend Brot dazu 😉. Für uns ist das gar nix.....

A jewel in Nuremberg that you have to experience! We received a very warm welcome and the atmosphere was simply great. The menu is very well coordinated so that everyone can find something (meat, vegetarian and vegan). The portions are very generous and taste great. If you are looking for a great evening, you should definitely visit this restaurant. Keep it up, we'll be back.

Localino grazioso che propone cucina libanese; molto gustosi i Muttabal e Mahammara, buono anche il piatto di carne, porzioni abbondanti, ma servizio molto lento (abbiamo atteso il secondo 40 minuti circa, nonostante il locale non fosse pieno) e prezzi troppo alti, soprattutto per il dolce (19.50 euro) ed i vini (12.90 al bicchiere). Avrebbe meritato giudizio migliore per la cucina, ma prezzo eccessivo e servizio abbassano il punteggio.

We celebrated my sister’s birthday & we were so glad we chose this place because they made it really special for us. They celebrated with us & set up a beautiful dessert plate with champagne! Highly recommended Lebanese restaurant in the heart of Nuremberg. Great selection of starters that are ideal to order as a selection and fill yourself up with just starters. However, there is a deduction for the prices. Definitely too expensive, even if it describes itself as a "fine restaurant". You have to differentiate somewhere and the price-performance ratio is simply overpriced. Despite nice service, we were misunderstood (in order to make even more money)! We had ordered and decided against the house's recommendation, which was then brought to us and we had to pay for it in the end. Impudence!

Very sweet and authentic restaurant, great food and especially courteous service! We liked it. BUT: I have to deduct a star for the prices. 12€ for a bowl of hummus and 17€ for a very manageable salad is just too expensive in my opinion. We were also really surprised because it was very expensive.

Very authentic restaurant! The employees are very friendly and committed. We received great advice and received great recommendations. It is advisable to take several starters and share them so that you can try a lot of different things. The restaurant has a great atmosphere inside. Wir waren als Familie zum Abendessen dort. 2 Erwachsene 2 Kinder (4 und 6 Jahre alt). Das essen war gut. Wir waren schon öfters in Gaststätten mit libanesischer Küche. Im großen und ganzen vergleichbar mit bisschen Variation. Die Bedienung war nett. Unsere Kinder waren unentschlossen, die Bedienung hat das Angebot gemacht ein paar Sachen zusammen zu stellen, was wir angenommen haben. Getränke waren 2 Flaschen Mineralwasser und 1 kleine Cola. Preislich verlangt die Gaststätte eher höheres Niveau. Aktuell ca. 27 Euro pro Hauptspeise. Was dann aber bei uns verlangt wurde war richtig unverschämt. 250 Euro !!! Die Rechnung war nicht nachvollziehbar. Dem Nachbartisch ist das Essen aus dem Mund gefallen als er den Preis gehört hat. Rein rechnerisch muss jedes Schüsselchen mehr als die teuerste Haupspeise des Lokals gekostet haben. Zusammenfassend. Es war gut. Libanesische Küche wie man sie auch von wo anders kennt, aber die Preise die da aufgerufen werden sind nicht nachvollziehbar. 2 Erwachsene + 2 Kinder (4 & 6 Jahre), 1,5 Stunden im Lokal >>> 250 Euro.

Being Lebanese it’s often difficult to find authentic restaurants in Germany. But this restaurant did not disappoint. Everything we ate was delicious. The food was presented well. The highlight of the night was the hospitality and service we got from John & Araz. All in all from the tasty food to the welcoming service one really gets the oriental experience. My favourite dish was the stuffed vine leaves. I recommend this place to anyone who would like a taste of Lebanese food.

Simply excellent! We took the risk with children to try a new cuisine, in this case Lebanese and what a surprise, they were fascinated and so were we, there were no exquisite dishes, but, some, the attention of the managers was simply great, unfortunately we discovered it a day before that our trip ended or we had returned again; I can only recommend this place, super cozy with delicious food.

Everything really perfect. Big praise for the service and the kitchen. I could fall for Makhali vegetables! ... almost the entire menu can be ordered for me as a lactose intolerant person.

In my opinion the food wasn't quite as authentic and it lacked a bit of the peppy Lebanese taste, but it's just my opinion. The service was incredibly good, nice and friendly! However, the food was beautifully presented and very good (even if it didn't exactly have the authentic taste). I really regret that no Lebanese bread was served. Why? I would still heartily recommend it!

The very attentive and equally enterprising waitress "talked" us into choosing the most expensive meze from the various categories. We (4 people) found the dishes themselves mediocre and sometimes really boring: a lot of cumin, tahini and tomato paste on almost everything brought little variety to the taste buds. You can do it, but it's tastier and cheaper in Nuremberg. Considering how much potatoes, cauliflower, zucchini, etc. cost, we found the food and drinks overpriced.

I was there the day before yesterday. The food was great. There was nothing to complain about. Aras and Johan were very friendly and courteous service. The prices are a bit high, but appropriate for the quality. I left with a good feeling and will definitely come back on my next visit to Nuremberg.

Housed in a small, historic building, you unexpectedly find the Levantine. We were welcomed by an incredibly friendly team that was also extremely well-coordinated. We trusted the boss and had a selection of dishes put together for us. To put it bluntly: we were simply thrilled! We were simply thrilled by the explosion of flavors and intense spices in the various dishes - vegetarian, vegan and with meat. This also includes the mega tasteful ambience, rounded off with a glass of a fine Lebanese red wine. Simply recommended!!!

A nice restaurant, a superb atmosphere, we were there spontaneously as a family without reservation, despite that we were very well received, we quickly had a place, the service was fast, the quality of the menu was perfect, a varied menu and a quantity very generous :)! Plus the waiter was super cool, he spoke 5 languages, he took great care of us, listened to us all evening, in short, nothing to say, everything was perfect, even the music chosen ❤️, a restaurant to absolutely recommend..I will always return if I'm in Nürnberg :)

This was such a great experience! Aras and Johann were nothing but amazing! They gave us the best tips on what to eat and served us just the best food. It tasted SO good! We also drank Arak with them and had great talks. We came here because we saw it from outside and loved the atmosphere. If you go there you won’t be disappointed. I promise!

The Levantine cuisine enchanted us with its delicious fresh dishes and Lebanese wine. The ambience of the Mediterranean Eastern world is very warm and generous, as the owners clearly showed and demonstrated to us. Not to forget, the extremely friendly hosts guarantee a wonderful and unforgettable atmosphere! It's best to give yourself over to the oriental world from the first flight of stairs into the restaurant.

Hello everyone, I would like to tell you how enchanting the Restaurant Levantine is. The ambience is very original, the food is exceptionally tasty and Johann with enchanted blue eyes makes sure that the visitor doesn't fall anything and feels comfortable. Visiting the restaurant is worth it!

Ohne Zweifel unglaublich lecker. Das Erwachen kommt mit der Rechnung. Bestellt bloß nicht Mezze, ohne genau abzumachen was und wieviel. Es wird zwar suggeriert, dass man sich vertrauensvoll in die Hände des Kellners begeben darf, auch bei der besonderen Weinauswahl. Bei der Schlußrechnung muß man dann aber doch gewaltig schlucken und fühlt sich leider bequatscht und über den Tisch gezogen. Mezze für pro Person von über 50€ und eine Flasche Wein von über 100€ sind finden wir unangemessen und sollten vorher angekündigt werden. Schade
