Unfortunately, we cannot agree with the positive reviews. The ambiance was kitschy and overly Christmassy, ​​with excessive decorations. Most of the staff seemed bored and disinterested. The food was of abysmal quality and massively overpriced for what was offered. For example, a small plate of pasta with pesto from a jar and a small salad cost €20. Most of the food we ordered seemed to be frozen, was unimaginatively presented, and tasted like basic student fare. It's a shame we didn't take any pictures; otherwise, we would have gladly included them here to further illustrate our experience. Here, you're paying solely for the location.

Avoid at all costs! I have never experienced such dreadful service as in this restaurant – if you can even call it that. I even saw rats running between our legs; I don't even want to imagine what the kitchen must be like! A hygiene inspection is desperately needed, and on top of that, they don't speak English! And to top it all off, it's outrageously expensive.

Tourist trap! Unfortunately, the food seems very industrial and interchangeable, from the salad dressing to the potato salad to the spaetzle. The quality and taste are more reminiscent of cafeteria standards, but at extremely inflated prices!

We were seated in front of the restrooms when the restaurant was empty. The staff was hectic and unfriendly. The bill was thrown onto the table without a word. The food was very good, but 20-30 per person is unrealistic.

We only took a short coffee break, but unfortunately, the service from a brown-haired waitress was extremely unfriendly and "gruff." We had the impression that she had no desire to serve us at all. Her behavior was so inappropriate that we felt very uncomfortable and decided to leave immediately after the coffee break, even though we had originally planned to have something to eat.

Here you can find the worst coffee in all of southern Germany, coupled with subterranean female service staff who even gossip about customers

I had shoulder of pork with potatoes and sauerkraut for €20.80. The food was very good and plentiful. But the drink prices were outrageous: €7.70 for a beer and €11 for a glass of wine! The service was friendly, but every step was taken by a different person. Even the bill was brought by one person, but then another took the cash.

The two very friendly waiters, with a touch of humor, tried to speak French. The price is a bit excessive for what's on offer. (Flamenkuchen €22.80) with chili peppers that weren't hot at all (jarred chili peppers from the CP). We were able to eat outside. Nice pedestrian street.

Hello, the restaurant is beautifully decorated as always, the staff are super friendly, not much has changed, just good... only the prices are a bit over the top! Two Maultaschen for 18 euros is a bit excessive, isn't it?

Nice wine bar, good food with decent portions.

The veal was excellent, as were the vegetables, and the toppings and sauces were pleasant and light. The cutlet was also very good, and the apple strudel with ice cream was excellent. The staff was courteous, helpful, and fast.

The food is good but nothing extraordinary... The service is deplorable... no effort to speak French... no smile, and when you raise your hand to ask for the bill, the waitress rolls her eyes... €9.90 for a bottle of water... and a note written on a piece of paper while the other tables have printed bills... And on top of that, they want you to leave a tip on the EFT!!

I'm giving it one star to see if it can lower the rating a bit. The truth is, the place isn't bad for a quick fix, but the food is mediocre and the prices are excessively high. We paid about €25 per person, and that's even though we didn't even order a separate dish each. The food, as is typical in Germany, was bland.

Went several times food is ok but this time staff were not professional, I just finished my meal then she cleans the table and ask if I pay together as we were 3, I didn’t ask for the bill so she just bring it and then rushed me to pay, finally staffs looked with insistance so that I go and can clean the table. Even though I haven’t finished my drink, there were 2 other client that were done with their plate and not the drinks but didn’t RUSHED them like she did for me. What is this kind of behavior now !?

We visited the lovely Laterne restaurant again last weekend and, just like the first time a few years ago, were extremely satisfied. It's incredibly cozy, the staff are very attentive and friendly. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are absolutely generous. We're always happy to come back. Thank you for the lovely evening at the Laterne!

I really liked the Nürnberger Würstchen mit Sauerkraut - and ate it three (3!) times during my last visit to Baden Baden. This dish is carefully hidden in the menu under "small" dishes - but don't believe it. At least for me - it was perfect. See the photo for yourself and then decide. The captioning system for Google Maps seems to be COMPLETELY BROKEN from the desktop and so the caption for the photo should be "Nürnberger Würstchen mit Sauerkraut" if it actually worked.

Food was rather great, and portions enormous. But prises! Twice as much as you would spend in most of restaurants in region. Not sure its worth it.

Das beste Rahmschnitzel mit Spätzle (oder überhaupt etwas auf dem Teller ;), dass wir seit Jahren gegessen haben. Wir waren an 2 Abenden hier.

Catastrophique ! Il est bien difficile de faire pire. Le service est désastreux, une large part du personnel ne comprend pas l'allemand, même basique comme "pourrions nous avoir un verre d'eau s'il vous plait", créé la panique chez la serveuse. Elle n'est plus réapparu à notre table. Le plat (käsespaetzle) est bon. La table débarrassée, nous avons attendu 30 minutes, ignorer par tout le personnel. C'est mon appel téléphonique au restaurant en disant que je les appelle de la table numero 1 qui nous a permis d'avoir une carte des desserts et un paus d'intérêt de la part du personnel. La personne au téléphone a eu dû mal à comprendre cette personne (moi) qui appelle pour demander que l'on nous apporte la carte des desserts. Je la comprends mais quand on est aussi peu attentif à ses clients on court le risque de recevoir ce genre d'appel. Au final, l'addition est fausse. On l'a range et la serveuse revient en catastrophe, c'était l'addition de la table voisine. Elle nous fait payer la différence, sans sourciller. Ils nous ont tout de même offert en compensation 2 mignonnettes (2 cl) de mauvaise eau de vie locale. En bref, évitez ce bouiboui !

Typical German food. I had creamed asparagus with salmon... very good. The only downside is that they don't speak Spanish and the menu has no photos.

this place was absolutely out of this world. i would highly recommend coming here, this was the best meal I’ve had on my trip so far!! I would highly HIGHLY recommend this place, I got the asparagus soup and the Black Forest ribs. both were phenomenal and I will be looking for the recipes to have at home (would definitely get what I got, such an immaculate combination). save time and don’t look around, go here!! :)

typical quiet and pleasant restaurant. The dishes had very good seasoning taste and the meat was very tender... We reheated the leftovers of a dish the next day, very tasty too! :-) All with a good Henessy cognac

This little restaurant and terrace in the Old City prepares one the best fondue I ever eat. Interior is nicely decorated, but I preferred to stay outside because it's a nice place to enjoy a coffee and watch people passing by. Capucino is also good, german style, with a lot of milk foam. Waiters are polite and kind, and one of them was speaking romanian. Overall, it was a best class experience.

Cosy restaurant with wood beams and traditional handcrafted decorations. Good menu with local dishes as well as typical German fayre. Friendly staff who go the extra mile to make you welcome. Not cheap but probably competitive for a popular tourist town like Baden- Baden. Always a joy to visit.

Such a cute place with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The meat fondue was so worth it. Lots of sauces and the meat quality was very good. Highly recommend!

Nice atmosphere, especially in the evening. The food could be improved in terms of value for money. Tagliatelle were ok, no worries for almost €21, a bit overpriced. There are also better cheese spaetzle. The Fädle soup was good and had plenty of Fädle, but unfortunately it was a bit expensive, even given the current inflationary conditions. The service was friendly, but didn't respond to our feedback, just gave us a tired smile. Too bad.

Warm setting where you feel good as soon as you enter. Pleasant welcome. The food is very good and very plentiful. The cocktails are also very good.

Food was incredible and quantities were very good! The owner - who also takes your orders and serves - is *not very nice* (I wanted to use another word but Google flagged it as inappropriaye), my girlfriend ordered in German and he was rough with her, so I let you imagine how he was with me (english-speaker). But the other servers are okay Plus: the owner will try to sell you the "mineralwasser" which costs €10, be sure to repeat to him you want the "taffelwasser", because he will 100% try to scam you! In general though: the food was incredible, and it is worth it if you are able to move past the service aspect!

Das Restaurant selber ist nicht spezielle eingerichtet, aber ganz OK. Wir hatten je ein Glas Wein, die Auswahl dazu ist gut. Das Essen selber ist ganz OK. Beim Rahmschnitzel war das Fleisch jetzt nicht von bester Qualität. Die Sauce kein Meisterstück. Die Spätzel sind selber gemacht, und waren sehr gut. Auch der Salat war OK. Der Service war soweit ganz nett. Der Junge Mann ist wohl noch am lernen, aber der Chef hat seine Patzer wieder wettgemacht.

It's all a question of expectation and reality. What do you expect when you pay €36.50 for a Wiener Schnitzel? Or an apple spritzer for €6.60. I expect something different than what I got.

A wonderful ambience between Christmas magic and glamour, especially at Christmas time. Food was very tasty and service was very friendly. Prices for Baden Baden normal.

If you like to wait, you can go there. 20 minutes minimum between each dish. The waiters walk past you several times without even thinking that you should be taken care of. Same cinema when it was necessary to pay. I almost left without paying and then they moved.

If you ever think of spending your New Year's Eve in this restaurant, give it up! A 3-course menu at €95 per person which isn’t even worth €50! A correct entry, nothing more. A beef Stroganoff as a main course which reminded me of canteen stews and a cold and tasteless accompaniment! A banal and unoriginal dessert. All in an atmosphere that is anything but festive and a service that borders on friendliness! In short, we leave with the unpleasant feeling of having been taken for pigeons...

We were there at Christmas and the prices were simply exorbitant. The food was good, home-style with tk Rösti and a veal cutlet that cost €38, and a tarte flambée with a ready-made crust and a bit of salmon and rocket cost €25. Service was okay, ambience was good
