We had a lovely evening and will return, but for a restaurant in this quality and price range, there were a few weaknesses this evening. We opted for a three-course à la carte menu. We enjoyed the amuse-bouche. It was varied and delicious. The starters were good in terms of ingredients, but the sauce on one of the starters was so intense that it almost completely overpowered the fish flavor of the sashimi. With the fish main course, which was generally well prepared, we could see that it had been sitting under the heat lamps for a long time, probably because the other dish wasn't ready yet? As a result, it wasn't warm enough when served. The other dishes were really good. Overall, certainly not a disaster, but given the quality and a bill of €300 for two people, I don't think it deserves five stars. We thought the wine selection was good. Rather on the cheaper end compared to the food. Service was friendly and good.

We had the lobster menu on June 30, 2025, and were thrilled. The presentation and sequence of dishes were outstanding, from the amuse-bouche to the espresso. The lobster was wonderfully fresh and perfectly cooked. The seasoning was delicate, but not overpowering. All courses were imaginative and inspiring. You have to experience it to be believed; it's simply indescribable. Our expectations were far exceeded.

Besuch im Restaurant mit Freunden! Essen ohne Beanstandung! Leider Service sehr schlecht,durch einen mehr als arroganten Servicemitarbeieter, welcher uns den Abend einfach nur verdorben hat! Schade, kann das Restaurant in dieser Preisklasse nicht weiterempfehlen! Hier ist der Inhaber gefordert! Keine Entschulfigung für so ein Verhalten!!!

Very disappointed with my visit there – the food was cold; requests weren't addressed, and any criticism was ignored. They seem to think they're something special there, but the display case speaks volumes.

The entrance and display case are anything but inviting. We went there on a recommendation; otherwise, we would never have entered. The food can be described as good by island standards, but nothing like the mainland. The short, corpulent woman serving is very unfriendly.

Very friendly and attentive service, who advised and served us according to our wishes. The lunch menu prepared for us, consisting of a lobster foam soup and, as a main course, coastal veal entrecôte with truffle jus, green beans, and Dauphinois potato gratin, was very tasty. The La Mer restaurant is a place to relax and enjoy. By using the island ticket, you can get to know and appreciate this excellent restaurant even on a limited budget. Update 2025: The quality of the food and service has changed compared to last year. However, prices have increased significantly (as is the case almost everywhere).

Wir waren zu Dritt zum Abendessen vor Ort. Kurz gesagt: ein rundum gelungener Abend. Fantastisches Essen und perfekter Service. Mein Mann isst nichts mit Knochen daher wurde das Perlhuhn ohne serviert. Unser Sohn war auch happy, daher unbedingt empfehlenswert. Nicht günstig aber die Qualität ist es wert.

Today, La Mer was a little different: It was a successful premiere barbecue, even though the weather unfortunately didn't cooperate. But we guests lacked nothing: we were treated to fantastically grilled (and super-deliciously marinated) delicacies. Delicious lamb skewers, great spare ribs, super-tender pork belly, and various delicious sausages. There were also various salads, delicious bread, and delicious dips.

Absolutely outstanding, highly recommended. From the advice to the food to the ambiance. The individual courses were harmoniously coordinated and a wonderful experience. Food for the soul.

Waren gleich zwei Mal hintereinander zum Abendessen dort. Die mit Abstand beste Restaurant-Erfahrung auf Norderney und um Klassen besser als das hochgelobte Sterne-Restaurant Seesteg. Toller Ausblick in den gepflegten Garten, wenn man einen Tisch an der Terrasse ergattert. Anspruchsvolle Küche, durchdachte Weinauswahl zu sehr fairen Preisen. Sehr einfühlsamer und aufmerksamer Service. Stilvolle Einrichtung (einschließlich der Fotos auf dem Weg zur Toilette). Nicht billig wie alles, was gut ist (es gibt allerdings Samstag und Sonntag mittags sowie unter der Woche auf Vorbestellung ein preiswertes Alternativ-Menü zu einen sehr anständigen Preis). Wärmstens zu empfehlen. Noch schöner wäre es, wenn das etwas verstaubt wirkende Sofa mit Schachspiel an der Terrasse weg wäre (da könnte unser Lieblingstisch stehen). Und den Schaukasten am Eingang sollte man sauberer halten (er hätte uns fast vom Besuch abgehalten, was sehr schade gewesen wäre).

Wir durften zu Viert das Frühlingsmenü in 5 Gängen genießen, was für ein Erlebnis. Jeder Gang ein kleines Kunstwerk: kreativ komponiert, geschmacklich auf den Punkt und mit erstklassigen Produkten zubereitet. Besonders hervorzuheben das Carpaccio vom Lachs und der weiße Tomatenschaum. Vom Haus gab’s zwischendurch ein Whiskey Sour Granité -außergewöhnlich. Dazu kommt ein exzellenter, persönlicher Service, der Spaß gemacht hat. Herzlich, aufmerksam und professionell – ohne aufgesetzt zu wirken. Auch das Ambiente im Restaurant ist durchdacht, stilvoll, aber nicht überladen. Hier steht der Genuss im Mittelpunkt – in entspannter Atmosphäre. Ein rundum gelungener Abend mit Freunden, bei (gefühlt) Freunden. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal im La Mer und waren wieder begeistert. Das 6 Gang Menü (incl. der Weinbegleitung) war hervorragend und wir hätten definitiv nicht auf einen Gang verzichten wollen! Top Qualität kombiniert mit Leidenschaft und Können. Für uns das beste Restaurant auf der Insel und für zukünftige Aufenthalte ein kulinarischer Pflichttermin! (Mein Tip: Wenn Michelin das nächste Mal auf der Insel ist, gibt es in Norderney ein weiteres Sternerestaurant)

We booked a table with friends. And were immediately turned away because we had a dog with us. Without the time of day being announced. This is a catastrophe in terms of service. It should also be made clear on the website that dogs are not welcome. So our friends ate there. And we left. We are very disappointed. The bad thing is not that a dog is forbidden, but that we were rejected in a totally derogatory and unfriendly manner. If they had said straight away when scheduling the appointment that dogs were not allowed, it wouldn't have been a problem. What's strange is that it's not on any website and we just found that when you book, you're asked whether you're bringing a dog with you.

We decided to try La Mer because the menu as a whole appealed to us in a way that rarely happens. Usually, there are a few components, one or two courses that are "just included"; here, every single course sounded so promising that we would have chosen everything exactly as it was even without a menu. We were not disappointed. Every course, as well as the specials from the kitchen, were fantastic, true taste experiences, beautifully prepared and exceptionally presented. There's also a very good selection of drinks. The service was excellent, charmingly unobtrusive, yet always attentive; even though we were quickly the last guests in the restaurant and it was getting quite late, everything was served at our pace until the end, with no time pressure at all. The evening was the culinary highlight of our Norderney stay! This experience dates back to November 2023, when we wanted to make another reservation at the end of November 2024 (the posted menu again sounded tailored to us from start to finish). Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed for the holidays. Hopefully, we'll have better luck at the end of November this year :)

Wir haben uns entschieden, dass La Mer auszuprobieren, weil uns das Menü in Gänze so angesprochen hat, wie es selten der Fall ist. Meist gibt es ja einige Komponenten, den ein oder anderen Gang, der "halt dabei" ist; hier klang jeder einzelne Gang so vielversprechend, dass wir auch ohne Menü alles genau so ausgewählt hätten. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Jeder Gang sowie die Grüße aus der Küche waren fantastisch, wahre Geschmackserlebnisse, toll angerichtet und außergewöhnlich präsentiert. Dazu gibt es eine sehr gute Getränkeauswahl. Der Service war hervorragend, charmant zurückhaltend, dabei aber stets aufmerksam; obwohl wir ziemlich schnell die letzten Gäste im Restaurant waren und es recht spät wurde, wurde bis zum Ende alles nach unserem Tempo serviert und keinerlei Zeitdruck gemacht. Der Abend war das kulinarische Highlight unseres Norderney-Aufenthaltes! Diese Erfahrung stammt schon aus November 2023, als wir Ende November 2024 erneut reservieren wollten (das ausgehängte Menü klang erneut von Anfang bis Ende wie auf uns abgestimmt) waren leider Betriebsferien. Hoffentlich haben wir dieses Jahr Ende November wieder mehr Glück :)

This restaurant is the highlight of the island

Sehr schönes Restaurant mit hervorragendem Service. Die Weinkarte ist umfangreich und fair verpreist. DANKE ! Neben dem interessanten Menue gibt es eine kleine Auswahl. Alle Fischgerichte haben allerdings eine Fleischkomponente, sicher ein spannendes Geschmackserlebnis…. Für Pescetaria wurde die Fleischkomponente einfach weggelassen. Kann man so machen. Edler wäre natürlich stattdessen eine passende vegetarische Komponente gewesen. Das wäre der Punkt auf dem „i“; trotzdem gerne wieder.

Das La Mer wurde uns empfohlen. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen, zwanglos und dabei äußerst professionell beraten und aufmerksam bedient. Das Menü war genial zusammengestellt und kam prompt. Auf Sonderwünsche ging man ganz zwanglos ein. Die servierten Weine waren eigentlich schon zu gut als Begleiter zum Essen. Wir haben direkt nochmals gebucht. Einfach ein sehr sehr gelungener Abend, Danke!

Mein Ehemann und ich waren hier zum ersten Mal. Ich hatte ein Zweigangessen mit ausgezeichneten offenen Wein, mein Mann ein, Fünf Gang essen mit begleitenden Wein. Das Essen schmeckte hervorragend, die neuen Begleitung war auch exzellent. Der Service war ausgesprochen gut und es hat uns gefallen, auch die Küche einzusehen. We had a great evening at La Mer in early October. The food was outstanding. We were impressed by both the 4-course menu and the a la carte dishes. The wine accompaniment to the menu was super harmonious, and a suitable bottle was also served for wine lovers of the sweeter variety. The prices are justified and really not expensive in relation to other locations on Norderney. The atmosphere is casually modern and tastefully decorated, and the service is incredibly attentive. Kind Westphalian greetings to the young man from the Gütersloh area and the entire team. For us the best restaurant on the island, which we will definitely visit again on our next stay on the island. Doesn't live up to what the pricing suggests

My personal conclusion after Seesteg, Müllers and La Mer in three days is: My personal taste winner is the La Mer. The selected dishes from the menu hit my tongue best with their respective flavor extracts. The service was great, even though he was alone. Advice is always safe and expert. The fruit brandies and grappa after the meals were ultra-tasty.

Top Top Top we were absolutely thrilled. The staff was incredibly calm and always approachable. Everything that came out of the kitchen was of the highest culinary art and an explosion of taste. We were able to watch the kitchen crew at work and were really impressed by the peace and quiet in the kitchen .Everything went hand in hand and was conducted by the boss like an orchestra. Great! We'll definitely be back!

What Hilko, Giulia and their team at La Mer are doing is extraordinary! We received such a warm welcome and felt like we were in good hands. The food enchanted us. Every course is a poem - including the wine and the other drinks. Simply an exciting game of flavors and consistencies. The way the food was prepared was also simply great. The service employee who looked after us was very warm, pleasant and unobtrusive. We felt perfectly cared for at all times. We are already looking forward to the next visit. See you soon!

Zu allererst : es war ein genußvoller und genußreicher Abend, rund herum gelungen. Schon der 4 teilige Gruß aus der Küche ( Vichysoise, "Törtchen" mit Fischtartar gefüllt , Lardo und hausgemachtes Sauerteigbrot mit Misobutter) war ein grandioser Einstieg in ein tolles Menü. Von de rMisobutter hätte ich ein Kilo mit nach Hausen nehmen können. Die geklärte Tomatensuppe mit den Gemüsemaultaschen war äusserst raffiniert und immer wieder eine Geschmacksüberraschung. Fisch- und Fleischgang waren ganz excellent und die Aprikosenüberraschung als Dessert mit einem ganz tollen Tokayer war der krönende Abschluss. Bei diesem Geschwelge werden wir beim nächsten Inselbesuch mit absoluter Sicherheit wiederkommen- ich hoffe , dann mit Stern "bekränzt".

Last weekend I ate at La Mer for the first time. The service was excellent, you felt immediately welcome and everyone was extremely attentive. The motto seemed to be to read your wishes and make everything possible for your guests. Of course everyone has to and should see for themselves, I can only say that the meat was of the highest steakhouse quality and there were small individual starters or snacks where you could tell that the kitchen was letting its creativity run wild. We recently visited the La Mer restaurant, which is known for its fine dining offerings on the island. The evening started promisingly: we were informed by phone in advance that we would have to sit inside due to the weather - a very courteous gesture from the house, which seemed very organized and was exactly right. The space inside was also very nice and added to the atmosphere. The wine selection was very good: the person responsible for selecting the wines on offer did an excellent job and the wine we had was very good. Unfortunately, the wine was served far too warm. There were also some disappointments with the food. We originally considered a fish, but it couldn't be filleted - either in the kitchen or at the table. Even if this is a special request, in a restaurant like this I expect this request to be fulfilled. Instead, a steak (completely cooked) was chosen, which was unfortunately disappointing: it came across as very dry, even for a well-done steak, which was mainly due to the side dishes, which did not help at all to make the dish appear juicier. The 7-course menu, on the other hand, tasted very good and impressed us. One point that we noticed was that we had to refill our drinks ourselves throughout the evening, which is more than disappointing for a restaurant of this class. Although the service was objective and correct, there was a complete lack of warmth, which took away the personal touch from the experience. Overall, we had the impression that La Mer does not offer the level that is often communicated on the island or that is conveyed through articles on the Internet, especially in the area of ​​service. In addition, the restaurant has little event character and the experience does not offer the special setting that one might expect in this price range. An alternative on the island in the same price range is “Seesteg”, a restaurant with a Michelin star. Anyone who values ​​excellent service and is looking for a consistent experience should therefore consider the Seesteg.

Schon beim Gruß aus der Küche waren wir hin und weg: Mehrere Kleinigkeiten waren nicht nur für den Gaumen, sondern auch für das Auge liebevoll angerichtet. Die Vorspeise, Zweierlei vom Thunfisch, war außergewöhnlich: Eine Geschmacksexplosion bei jedem Häppchen. Die Seezunge war perfekt gebraten, der Gurkensalat ein Gedicht. Zudem hatten wir einen fantastischen Wein, der demnächst auch in unserem Kühlschrank zu finden sein wird. Vielen Dank für den tollen Abend!

During our vacation we visited what was probably the best restaurant on the island according to reviews and were not disappointed. The menu was absolutely excellent and definitely at star level. Here in the Ruhr area, three well-known TV chefs run their star-rated shops, none of which can compete here. Every course was excellent, the wine was appropriate, the young waiter was extremely attentive and competent, he deserves special praise. We couldn't help but make reservations again immediately for the next day, which unfortunately was our last day of vacation. This time it was à la carte, and once again one culinary hit followed the next. Finally, there are the very finest distillates here, a detail that is often neglected even in top gastronomy. The price-performance ratio is also excellent, we were really surprised. We wish the entire team continued good luck and success! Stay tuned and the awards will come by themselves...

Yesterday evening it was that time again - even on a short trip, La Mer has become a fixture for us and we really enjoy visiting. Hilko, Giulia and the entire team managed to turn the evening into a professional, warm, enjoyable trip. Thank you again for this. For the aperitif there were 2 sparkling North Sea spritzes, followed by greetings from the kitchen, which brought some very well-coordinated taste experiences. We continued with the heated beef and imperial caviar - excellent - that would also be a great idea as a main course. This was followed by the intermediate course with three kinds of seasoned vegetable ravioli and the saffron risotto. The taste is again incredibly fine with many nuances. To refresh ourselves before the main course, we were given a small glass of whiskey sour (from the dessert menu). With our taste buds now refreshed, we moved on to the main course - charcoal-grilled veal entrecote. Fried to perfection as requested and served with a nice, light Bearnaise sauce. Just great. We actually wanted to choose a dessert (unfortunately it wasn't possible - our stomachs didn't want to expand any further) but we ended up with Hierbas Dunas (herbal schnapps made from the herbs of the dunes) on ice. All in all - a great taste journey and a wonderful evening. We will be back.

Geschmackvolles Ambiente, schön am Park gelegen. Sehr nettes, aufmerksames Personal und exquisites Essen angefangen von den vielfältigen, sich hinsichtlich Geschmack und Konsistenzen wunderbar ergänzenden Amuse gueules über den kross gebratenen Loup de mer mit allerlei "Beilagen" bis hin zu dem raffiniert zubereiteten und optisch eleganten Duo aus Erdbeer und Rhabarber. Bei der Weinkarte hätte ich mir bei den offenen Weinen eine größere Auswahl von Weinen französischer Provenienz gewünscht bei einem Restaurant dieses Profils. The la mer is a more upscale restaurant. Eat Unfortunately, not everything is perfect when it comes to food, so a risotto was not convincing, but after a complaint to the service, it was taken straight off the bill. It's a shame, because the other dishes we tested were very good! Prices As always on Norderney, you can't compare it with other restaurants. The prices at la mer are quite high, but here you also get very good, sophisticated service, which you cannot find in many other restaurants on the island. Furnishing For me, the tables are too close together and there is no longer any privacy. In this price range I would like more privacy. The somewhat overly spacious atmosphere could also be improved with simple intermediate installations. service The service is first class and is very attentive and trained! parking etc. Like everything on the island, walking here is probably unavoidable! ;-) CONCLUSION Good restaurant with good cuisine, very good service, the ambience could be made even clearer and more comfortable! Would we eat there again? Perhaps! So the risotto can be made better, my world's best wife makes the best risotto anyway, everything else was pretty good!

Wir hatten das 5 Gänge Menü mit Weinbegleitung. Ein sehr gutes Essen mit vielen verschiedenen leckeren Weinen, welches sehr viel Freude gemacht hat! Die Speisenfolge war zeitlich sehr nah beieinander und hat im Ganzen weniger überrascht. Dennoch war es ein wunderschöner Abend.

Wir waren zu Zweit zum Abendessen und haben uns für ein Menü entschieden. Ganz unkompliziert konnten wir einzelne Gänge tauschen und auch noch hinzufügen. Alle Gänge waren hervorragend, absolutes Sterneniveau. Sehr netter, freundlicher und kompetenter Service. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Top Restaurant auf Norderney!!!

Celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary today. It was simply magnificent. The menu and service were simply great. Increase hardly possible. Many thanks to Hilko and Gulia and their team.

Excellent cuisine at star level We had a wonderful evening with a fantastic menu and very professional, but also individually friendly and informal service. Food & wine were excellent and served with great attention to detail. Ambitious, young professionals are at work here. We were thrilled and will definitely be back soon.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Abend mit einem fantastischen Menü und sehr professionellem, aber auch individuell freundlichem und ungezwungem Service. Speisen & Weine waren exzellent und mit großer Liebe zum Detail serviert. Hier sind ambitionierte, junge Fachleute am Werk. Wir waren begeistert und kommen sicherlich bald wieder.

Wenn man einen Beweis sucht dass es abseits der bekannten Namen immer noch junge excelente Könner gibt dann wird man im La Mer fündig. Wunderschöne Atmosphäre, gute Beratung und excelente Küche sind hier zu finden. Wir waren beim Sylvestermenü 2023 und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Gänge wären von einer Geschmacksvielfalt welche man beim reinen Lesen der Menükarte nicht vermuten würde. Danke noch einmal an ALLE Mitwirkenden für den schönen Abend.

Norderney wird schon bald ein Sternelokal mehr haben! Die Küche hier im La Mer ist ausgezeichnet. Wir waren mit Freunden da und hatten einen sehr schönen Abend. Die Gerichte, einschließlich der Grüße aus dem Haus, waren ein Feuerwerk für den Gaumen , dazu eine sehr gute Weinkarte! Nach dem Dessert kam unser Espresso Experte auch wieder zu 5 von 5 möglichen Punkten :) dazu ein Digestif aus dem Hause Hilgert (ein Genuss) Der Service war herzlich und sehr aufmerksam,die Gerichte kompetent erklärt! Wir kommen bestimmt wieder, wenn wir mal wieder auf der Insel sind !
