Restaurant L´Orient in Hamburg

Today, on my birthday, we had dinner at L'Orient Restaurant Cafe on Osterstrasse. It was great, I can recommend it. Thank you ❤️ for the surprise at the end for me

Food and location 5 stars Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience with the service. There was a lack of transparent communication.

Happened upon this little gem while having beers around the corner. Elegantly decorated, attentive and kind service, and delicious food. They give you mini teacups of a palate cleansing soup while your food is being prepared and it was yummy. We were visiting, otherwise I would definitely visit again.

I was there for dinner with my family today. For me it was the first time I tried Lebanese cuisine, but definitely not the last time. ;-) I had a vegetarian dish, vegetables on artichoke bases and rice. The portion was generous, lovingly prepared and super tasty, as was the dessert.😋 The staff was very friendly. The restaurant was small, but nice and strikingly clean. ;-) I'm looking forward to seeing you again. 🤗

I finally managed to find a very nice restaurant with oriental cuisine in Hamburg. The food was incredibly tasty and prepared very professionally. The service was brilliant – friendly and warm. The restaurant is cozy and has a romantic atmosphere. If you have a date, I would definitely recommend this restaurant! A small wish: Unfortunately, Kube Naya is not on the menu yet – that would really be the icing on the cake!

I ate last night at the restaurant, which I saw had good reviews here on Google, and I had also read about the restaurant in an article with a top 10 (I think) of good restaurants in Hamburg. The place is nice and cozy, nicely decorated and generally pleasant to be there. My wife and I were very disappointed with the food, however. Lebanese food is usually among our favorites, but the food last night must be among the worst Lebanese food we have had. We ordered, among other things, mezze, which were all very small. Two tablespoons of tabouleh for example. The 4-5 of them were very small salads. One of them kibbeh without much flavor and unsalted. One of them two very small falafels, okay though. We also ordered a starter, which was halloumi in a salad. It was ok, but it was also something you could make at home in 5 minutes. Nothing special. The second main course was chicken in a kind of orange and apricot sauce, which seemed out of place. It didn't go together, and the sauce was very bitter. The chicken was marinated, and in many places the marinade was black and burnt, which made the taste bitter. The chicken was also dry and unsalted. The main course was served with potatoes, which were also completely unsalted, and we didn't eat them. Vegetables were also served, which perhaps should have been steamed or fried, but they were almost raw, and they couldn't be eaten either. Other tables were given bread, which we didn't, so it was perhaps an oversight. In general, the food appeared to be unprofessionally prepared. The basic techniques such as frying and seasoning were not mastered, as this was a common theme in all the dishes. The service was very friendly, but very slow. It was very difficult to get in touch with the waiters, and we waited an hour for our food.

Great restaurant with an atmospheric ambience in the evening - dimmed lights and stylish furnishings. The food was very good and lovingly prepared. The service is discreet, polite and attentive. I felt completely comfortable – a nice experience that I would like to repeat.

I have eaten here a number of times - whether with 1 or 2 friends or in larger groups, and it has always been an incredible experience. The staff is friendly, they know their dishes, can give on point recommendations, the service is exceptional and everything is unbelievably tasty! If you are looking for an awesome dining experience - this is a place to stop by :) Hint: Make a reservation on weekends or for larger groups ;)

If you want to go out for a fancy meal with your wife, I can only recommend the 4-course menu. Waiter, very detailed explanation and very nice. Vegetarians are also very welcome here.

Very good, top cuisine and top service

We were at L'orient on Valentine's Day. Despite not having a reservation, we got a table and were treated like a king. The food was just really tasty and high quality. A pure pleasure. The service was almost family-like and gave us a very nice evening.

Nice and very popular libanese restaurant also available in other locations in Hamburg. The staff is very friendly and the Mazza and the fish I had was very good. Highly recommend to have a tasty dinner.

The food was amazing! A variety of starters were served and the lamb chop and the duck as main dishes were greatly combined and super delicious. The dessert ice cream was very flavorful! The service was outstanding! All the waiters were very busy, but nonetheless very attentive! They were very kind and made us feel very welcome. The food was truly made in their kitchen and the cooks really knew the ingredients because one of us had a sesame allergy and there was no contamination of the food! Overall this was an amazing culinary experience and definitely worth the money!

Nice evening with an unpleasant end. I ate there with my daughter who recommended it. It was a Sunday evening just before Christmas, the food was excellent, the gentleman who served us was wonderful. It didn't matter much that we had a place right by the front door in the room, which only emptied out a bit later, and it felt pretty cold when guests came and went. Each time was only short. It became an impertinence when an employee opened the entrance door and blocked it. A freezing guest closed the door, she opened it again. When I kindly pointed out that it was really icy, she snapped: It had to be that way because there was no other way to ventilate it - and let it icy for ten minutes. Have you had a bad day, or are you always like this? It's a hard job, especially before Christmas: But it doesn't work that way, not even at a chip shop. Maybe next time in an appropriate tone? Or even ask for understanding, “ventilate” for a shorter time and offer another place if necessary? Promise us and we'll be happy to come back.

When we visited at lunchtime we easily got a seat. The “Mazza” - various small appetizers - from average to interesting. The “lamb shawarma grilled, on rice with fresh salad and yoghurt” not in a flatbread, but as a plated dish. The side salad is fresh but prepared in a purely European way, the meat is good average, but could be even more oriental. The service was friendly, but the spilled remains of the starters on the table were neither removed before the following main course nor afterwards - unpleasant.

The food like from 1001 Nights. Heavenly delicious!! You actually need two stomachs. The service guys are in a good mood, courteous, always quick to say...you can tell that they enjoy their job. And that, despite the brutal abundance and the corresponding noise level and sauna temperature. That's the only flaw: very narrow, very crowded. But: who cares! A wonderful evening in the land of milk and honey. Thanks, guys!

Very good food. The lamb and chicken were excellent, but the side dishes were not cooked properly (potatoes, carrots, etc.). The service was nice, but they could have given a little more time to choose the food and not rushed the customers so much.

Simply fabulous. We decided to cater with them for our daughter’s first birthday and boy did they deliver. The food was top notch and the presentation even when catered was so good. I would like to just thank the staff and would highly recommend them!

Long before 11/16/24 I had ordered a table for three people. We were also assigned this. The only thing that made this place unsuitable for my bad leg was the bench by the window. I got pain when I sat. I was refused another seat by the waitress. Everything is fully booked and only intended for four people. Another waitress wanted to speak to the colleague on my behalf, but was put in his place with violent hand movements. I found it sad that later three people were allowed to sit at a table for four. The food was okay, but could have been warmer. As soon as we had paid and my companion hadn't finished drinking, we were asked if we could free the table. We hadn't even gotten dressed properly before the door was held open for us. According to the motto, make sure you get out of here. For a bill of €136 plus tip, we would have expected better behavior from the staff towards us. This was my second and last visit to L Orient Osterstr. We didn't feel welcome or valued at this place.

So, the ambience and service were excellent! The food was actually good too, but unfortunately I didn't like all of it. For example, the rice was dressed with cinnamon and tasted too sweet for me, even though I actually really like eating cinnamon. I think it's just a matter of taste. The starters were very tasty. The greeting from the kitchen (pea soup) was okay, the dessert ice cream was very tasty. So all in all a recommendable restaurant.

The food at L’Orient Restaurant was really delicious and special. The duck breast with cinnamon rice was delicious and impressed us culinary wise. Unfortunately, the air in the interior was a bit stuffy and stale, which made the stay a little less pleasant. The space in the restaurant is also quite limited. Overall, however, a great experience with exceptional food – we’d be happy to do it again!

We had one of the best dinner experiences at L'Orient. We walked in without knowing we needed to make reservations. But the staff were super accommodative and sweet to find us a table and made sure we were absolutely comfortable. They gave us great suggestions on food and even a perk dessert! Absolutely loved this place! For the food, the ambience but most of all because of the team who make this restaurant what it is!! Thank-you for making sure we had a wonderful dinner! :)

It's a shame there isn't an extra asterisk... If you are in Hamburg, you should definitely eat here. I haven't eaten such excellent lamb in a long time. Whether it's typical of the country or not. Quite inconspicuous from the outside but concentrated quality from the inside.. Simply great..!!! In my opinion, value for money is hard to beat.. Reservations would probably be an advantage, we were lucky that there was still a small table available. We will definitely eat here again the next time we visit Hamburg.

The food is delicious and be careful - not only the mezze are delicious and rich - no, the main courses are also delicious and really big. In summer you can sit outside great.

I've been here quite often. This restaurant is bursting with culinary expertise. Perfect food with consistent quality. Reliably good. In my opinion, the service always provides everything with great friendliness. The guest room was recently spruced up with great success. Really always happy and thanks to the host. Well done.

It's a shame - it used to be better The service used to be always friendly and accommodating and the food used to be really special. Last night, when we arrived on time for our reservation, we were greeted unfriendly and left standing outside. This is how it went on: The food was ok, the corn poularde was just boring, there was nothing special left. The table was only very reluctantly wiped with a dirty cloth and remaining puddles of water upon request, the red wine was a good 26 degrees and was only put in the refrigerator for a short time upon request. The prices have risen extremely because every side dish is extra. At least we no longer got the delicious cinnamon ice cream that used to be served as a greeting from the house as dessert. In summary: it's no longer worth coming to Osterstrasse for that, it's a shame - you used to be good.

Completely unexpected, from the outside it looks like a no name restaurant, in fact it's a high standard libeanes restaurant that offers a modern kitchen as a fusion of Arabic and modern western taste. I tried the lamb in almond crust, super interesting!

When we come to Hamburg, L' Orient is always a must and we have never been disappointed. As always, the food was great and once you've tried the lamb sausages with the homemade potato chips, you won't want anything else. The service is always in a class of its own. If only one wish remains unfulfilled, please finally open a branch in Leipzig.

Top Lebanese food that is very special. The service is extremely nice and courteous, even though we were there shortly before closing time.

I found L’Orient on Google, then later got a trusted friend’s endorsement, so we ordered a large selection of Mezze plus a platter of Kibbeh for 12 people. The L’Orient team not only delivered the food on proper platters to our apartment but they also picked up the dishes the following day because we’re currently without a car. Very good, prompt communication with the manager and driver. The food was EXCELLENT. We eat Lebanese food a lot (my in-laws are from Lebanon), thus we have very high standards. Absolutely everything we had ordered was fresh, very tasty, perfectly seasoned - all our guests loved it, too. Highly recommend L’Orient, and on my next Hamburg visit we’ll definitely go to the actual restaurant. Huge thank to the L’Orient team for making my birthday lunch such a delicious occasion!

Great food with very attentive service

This restaurant belongs to a group of 4 restaurants. They serve Libanese food. We ordered mezze 10 dishes. Some meze dishes were very good, but some are poor such as tinned beans with spices, marinated beetroot. To sum up, average, but poor value for money. About 20 euro. The typical bread is served: very delicious. We ordered fish: it was fresh. At the end of the meal ice cream with a piece of cake was served. Very pleasant surprise. The service is friendly but could be more attentive. I liked this place. I can recommend this restaurant.

As a vegetarian, it was difficult for me to find something to eat; there were 3 vegetarian main courses that didn't particularly appeal to me and were similar. I was denied the much-praised explosion of flavor on my tongue... I would have liked to have the matzo platter, but it only works in conjunction with a main course... who is going to eat all that??? My companion liked it very much, prawns, the sauce was very tasty! Our cellar made a lot of effort, I didn't make it easy for him - thank you for your patience 🙏 What spoiled the ambience are the many dead flies in the window sills...otherwise the restaurant is cozy.

I came here for dinner with my friend today. The restaurant is small, with an indoor and outdoor area. The seats filled up quickly during dinner time and I'd definitely recommend to book - even on a Tuesday! We shared the mezza as a starter and it was a delicious selection of small tasters that went perfectly well with the bread, olive oil and Zaatar. It was a perfect amount to start with. We both choose the dinner special. Kabeljau with a lemon potato mash, beans with coriander and other spices, Tahini sauce/dressing and pomegranate seeds. The portion size was reasonable and filling. The fish was juicy and tender. Every dish we had was extremely flavourful and I highly recommend this place. The service was attentive, friendly and fast. We would definitely return! Prices are slightly on the higher price but well worth it! It was our lucky day when we received a little surprise desert from the kitchen. I can't remember what exactly the dish was but it was just as delicious as the rest. It was some sort of ice cream with a little taster of a cake-like/fruit puree slice. We will be back and I already passed on the recommendation!

Great food and very attentive staff. Very diverse and varied mezze (come with several guests) and very tasty, finely seasoned main courses. Very reasonable prices in relation to the quality. Also very helpful and friendly staff.

Outdoor seating is great. Definitely try their appetizer sampler (mazza). They also have good vegetarian options. We also got a complimentary dessert plate at the end of our meal. So that was nice. Walk-ins are entertained on weekdays. Great place for a date!

Except for the service... We were thrilled with the food. It wasn't that nice outside, we would have preferred to sit inside, but we were grateful that we were given a seat at all. The menu was great! The service overall wasn't that good. Forgotten something here and there and now I'm not really happy. But overall okay

Unfortunately, people have been relying on Chici Micki for some time now. The menu is extremely small and expensive; unfortunately, starters such as falafel are only available in conjunction with the main course. You forget that some people simply can't or don't want to eat that much and maybe just want to have a bite to eat with a glass of wine. The selection is extremely small, once you've been there a few times you don't know what else to eat, very one-sided and a bit expensive. It used to be nicer with the somewhat simpler furnishings and less rigorous when it came to the selection and could also be done with less staff and less chaotic, of course it costs everything but it's no use if one person doesn't know what the other is doing. It would be better to return to your roots, something simpler

Super versatile lunch menu! I have to briefly praise the vegetarian lunch menu - it is very varied, always wonderfully seasoned and with lots of fresh vegetables or salad. The portions are just right and the price is reasonable. Ordering for pickup is always very quick. Really great!

Saturday evening, then this wonderful dinner. Roast beef and cod. A real taste explosion. We enjoyed a great cold white wine with it. Food was great, there was nothing to complain about. But everything was set up too tightly. When the waiter visited the next table, his bottom visited our bread basket on the table.

Innovative take on traditional Lebanese cuisine. Delicious and good value. Staff is very outgoing, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Inside and outside seating options. Try the Mazza with 8 varieties. Dajaj bel tamer (dated filled chicken) was also excellent. Highly recommend.

Anyone who has ever been here will always experience something similar, at least with us and our family. There are only three words… Just great and super, courteous service and also a really great chef. But of course we don’t want to forget the boss of the house either. We spontaneously got a table for 4 here during the Easter Street Festival. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was great - competent and professional. And the food was really, really tasty. We would like to come again!

The restaurant itself wasn't bad. However, if you don't want a stuffy restaurant, it's not recommended at all (as was my case). Everything was exaggerated and too stiff. We waited over an hour for the food, and it should have been better for such circumstances. But the cinnamon ice cream and the rest of the dessert were wonderful. Thanks for the stay.
