Didn't enjoy it as much as at other places. This place has a weird energy going.

It has not changed for years. Decoration style is weird as it was a bierstüb. But the food and service is wonderful. Bibimbap is as in Korea. I highly recommend this restaurant. Don't be surprised by the décoration. Enjoy the food.

Very nice place. The food was good and reasonably priced. It took a little longer, but it was worth it. The staff was friendly. The drinks were perfectly fine, especially for the price.

I can't recommend the Yangnyeom chicken and the Samgyetang I ate at this restaurant. The Yangnyeom chicken isn't crispy and is too fatty, and the Samgyetang tastes a little different than the ones I've had in Korea before. The Bibimbap tastes exactly like the Bibimbap I've had in Korea.

I'm leaving this review for anyone who might come back after just passing by. The worst was the beef bulgogi. It wasn't even sliced ​​thinly, but it was tough and rubbery when I chewed it. My boyfriend thought it was beef intestines, not beef, because it was so tough. And the seasoning wasn't even bulgogi seasoning, but soy sauce??? The next worst was the kimchi stew. It tasted like kimchi meat boiled in water. Plus, the meat looked so weird, like intestines, I didn't eat it. It should probably be called kimchi stew. The only better dish was the soy sauce chicken gangjeong, but the fries were soggy and the sauce was overpowering the sweet and sour flavor, so it wasn't very good. It wasn't fried for 2-3 minutes, so the meat was mushy. ㅠㅠ The side dishes were undercooked, sour radish, and the cucumber tasted weird, so I ate one and then left it. The only good thing was the stir-fried potatoes. ㅠㅠ It's hard to go wrong with stir-fried potatoes. The server was friendly, and the stir-fried potatoes were tasty, so I'm giving it two stars.

I've been there the second time. Food is mostly good. I recommend the Japchae, Dwaeji Bulgogi, Kimchi Samgyeosal, Fried Chicken, Kimbap and the Bibimbap.

"Hangukgwan" – literally "Korean Restaurant" – lives up to its name: authentic recipes, real ingredients, and honest flavors. Anyone who loves Korean cuisine or wants to experience it as it truly is shouldn't miss this restaurant.

During my 15-day stay in Germany, the owner's kindness, warmth, and generosity created a comfortable atmosphere. I enjoyed stone pot bibimbap, kimbap, seafood and green onion pancakes, soft tofu stew, kimchi stew, sweet and sour chicken, japchae, jjambbong, and galbitang, all of which were even more delicious than in Korea. The kimbap was particularly refreshing and tangy, and the sweet and sour chicken, both seasoned and soy sauce-seasoned, was even more delicious than in Gangneung and Sokcho. If you stop by the Korea Pavilion in Heidelberg, you'll be able to fully enjoy Korean food in comfort and style. I've traveled to Germany, France, Switzerland, and Australia, but returning to Heidelberg felt like home, cozy and comfortable.

This was the best food I had in Germany! I ordered several different kinds of food: kimchi stew, tteokbokki, galbitang, kimbap, and jjambbong, and they were all delicious! I almost died because I couldn't get enough of the food while traveling in Germany!

As Chinese customers, we experienced targeted discrimination: > 1. The waiter deliberately omitted the main course and then accused us of "not ordering" and accused us of not coordinating our orders. We simply asked about our order, but the waiter got angry without addressing the issue first. > 2. The male waiter publicly questioned our dining integrity in an insulting tone. > 3. We spent nearly 300 euros but were not treated with even basic respect.

We just wish the restaurant had be more communicative, to let us know it gonna take a while before any food comes. Delicious and authentic Korean food, with amazing (lots) of banchan. We picked the 2-person menu and it was so much we couldn't finish it (although we tried as it was so good). The Korean dumplings, Mondo, were brilliant, almost heavenly and I can only recommend this Korean restaurant. I think it's a bit of a shame that the staff doesn't speak any German or English, or that the menu no longer explains in German or English what's behind the dishes and ingredients. I live in Germany, and this was a restaurant I stopped by when I went to Heidelberg on the weekend for the first time in a while. The price was too expensive compared to other areas, so I assumed it was because it was a tourist destination, but the taste and quantity were more outrageous than the price. I ordered Jjajangmyeon, but it was less than the amount of Jjapaghetti and wasn't seasoned very well, so I just ate it like black noodles. The bulgogi came on a smaller plate than the corn cheese plate, but the meat was thick and tough. Overall, the food was not seasoned properly, but I wish the kitchen would check the taste of the food every day before serving it to customers. Also, please note that card payments are accepted starting from 20 euros or more.

Waiter only speaks English. No offense to the boy, but I just find it incredibly inconsiderate and presumptuous of the restaurant to hire a waiter in Germany who only speaks English. Not everyone speaks English or wants to speak English in their own country! When you serve customers, it's not too much to ask to be able to speak the local language to some extent. I think it's totally dangerous to normalize something like that and I'll be eating Korean somewhere else until further notice.

I was craving for Korean, we visited a few restaurants in the area but they are all busy. As it was still hot in the afternoon, we deceived to choose this restaurant in the end since it did not look so crowded, less hot we hoped. ▪︎Atmosphere: The place has nice decorations and clean. Spacious and less hot inside the restaurant. ▪︎Experience: We ordered the dakbulgogi and the dwaejibulgogi. We arrived when the restaurant was quite, not many people there. Inside there were 2 more 3 more tables of people excluding mine. It took so long for the food to come out. I was fixated on the time because I kept checking the time. We were both exhausted from the heat, tired and hungry. I just wanted some comfort food. The waiting did not help. I think we did wait more than an hour for the food. When the food finally arrived, the first bite dwaejibulgogi just made all the hunger went away, my pork was all in broken in small pieces, it felt like more shred pork??? Please correct me if I am wrong but should not it be thin sliced. At least that what I know of this dish. My boyfriend's dish was fine but not his favorite he said. As we both disappointed, we had a few more bites, did not finish the food. Which is very rare honestly 🥲 (we got leftover to go of course, can't waste food). ♡In sum up: I simply hated the experience, the food and the waiting. Maybe other dishes might taste better. Or other days they have better service. However, I for sure wont come back to find out if it is the case or not. I won't recommend this place to people either. It is my opinion, unfortunately.

Been here multiple times over multiple summers. The food tastes good and there is a wide variety of Korean dishes priced decently. With sunny weather it’s nice to sit outside, but this time the high number of wasps circling around our food and drinks ruined the joy of eating outside.

For me it was local and the food wasn't really impressive, I ordered a bibimbap, two drinks and a snack. And it was already expensive. Not only that, but the bibimbap I ordered was supposed to be served in a stone pot, but instead I got a wooden bowl and the food inside was cold. I'm not really happy with the food, I have to admit. It's not stone pot bibimbap, it's just bibimbap, but they brought it back to me because I was confused about the order. Even so, the owner's attitude was very unfriendly. I could hear people speaking Korean in the kitchen, and even when I spoke in Korean, they responded in German... I felt so bad. Maybe it was because they just didn't want to talk, or something... They just threw away the menu and didn't even listen to my request for a receipt or check the menu when paying. The young woman was kind. The real korean restaurant with big portions and spicy food. We was two of us and we took two starters and one dish, that was a soup, so at the end I asked for a doggy bag 😅 All dishes was good, especially kimpab !

Ordered 1L water, only received 0.75; ordered jajongmyeon for 14 euros, was charged for 16.5 euros. Food taste was below average and not worth the price, I recommend satay chicken from Carrefour over this. My grandpa didn't liberate half of Germany just for such autocratic regime to come back on the high street of Heidelberg.
