Restaurant König Gustav in Sassnitz

We visited the Royal Gustav twice last weekend. As walk-ins on Friday, we were very hungry and, after a very short wait, we got a table for two and were warmly welcomed by the two waitresses. The cozy atmosphere and the almost perfect food surprised us so much that we spontaneously requested a table for 10 on Saturday lunchtime (after our booked table at another restaurant was canceled). The head chef himself quickly reorganized his schedule and was able to confirm the table. It was a fantastic evening, which the ladies and the kitchen team put together for us. There was even a surprise dessert and birthday song from the entire team for our grandma's 80th birthday. Happy, full, and delighted, the restaurant left a lasting, positive impression on all of us. If we're in Sassnitz, a visit here is a must for us. Many thanks for the two wonderful evenings, especially to Magda for the great service. You are a fantastic team!!!

There was a miscommunication - I was feeling indecisive & asked if I should go with the fish pot. But the waitress suggested sea bass something & I said sure, thinking it was part of the fish pot. When the bill came, I realized I got a completely different order that was ~10€ more. However, the sea bass with veggies was delicious & I didn’t mind the miscommunication so much 🤤 While waiting, I got a complimentary asparagus soup in the cutest lil’ pot & complimentary tropical shot with the bill (I don’t drink alcohol but was still a nice gesture). Overall great, attentive service & lovely interior 🫶🏽

We enjoyed a delicious meal at König Gustav yesterday. From the chef's special, to the tapas platter, to the Finkenwerder plaice...fresh ingredients, expertly prepared. The waitresses were more than attentive and friendly. A wonderful evening.

Royal enjoyment in Sassnitz! The König Gustav restaurant impresses with its cozy ambiance and a well-coordinated, attentive team. The service is friendly, warm, and simply puts you at ease. The culinary offerings here are a wonderful blend of German and Spanish cuisine – from fresh plaice to a genuine Wiener schnitzel to paella, everything is there, and all of it at a truly excellent level! Spanish beer and delicious cocktails round out the experience. If you want to eat well in Sassnitz, this is the place to be!

Konig Gustav is definitely my favorite restaurant in Sassnitz ! I am not so often posting evaluation but I came few times in 3 years and always the best food and perfect owners in this city ! Try the fish and chips, it's amazing ! Take care ! A french worker

I can only agree with the many other positive reviews. Starting with the very, very good service in a nice atmosphere and ending with the food, it was very nice! So really highly recommended if you fancy regional and Spanish cuisine.

We were guests in this wonderful restaurant after a burial at sea and were extremely satisfied with both the service and the food. A greeting 🙋‍♂️ to the kitchen! ...if #Ur-Krostitzer beer 🍺 were still offered here, which was basically ennobled by the King of Sweden... Perfect 😉

We like to go there. It's worth making a reservation in advance. The two girls from the service are simply great, and the boss is always there if something needs to be changed in a dish. We came across the small but very fine restaurant on our last evening, from the ambience to the background music, everything is just right here. The service is very courteous and friendly. Now we come to the important thing, the food... I had the rib eye, what can I say, that was by far the best piece of meat I had on the plate medium.....😍 In short, this evening was absolutely successful in the port city of Sassnitz.....😊🙏🏼 We'll definitely be back.....😊☀️🍀🙏🏼

It's been a long time since a restaurant where people like to go. We were there again the next day and the kitchen and the service were easy just great. You should take the stars away from Tim Raue and his friends and give them to this quaint and very cozy restaurant. Everyone who hasn't eaten there has missed something in their life. Impressive, historic place where you can also sit and eat comfortably. Although there is little on the plate + very expensive, but very good quality, service always + everywhere. Happy to recommend again and again!

Today we spontaneously went to König Gustav. It was one of the best ideas we had on vacation. From second onwards a very friendly atmosphere. The waitresses are super nice and exude wonderful serenity. The food came quickly and was great, neither of us had any complaints about it, we'll be back.

My meal (tapas plate) looked good and was also good average. Why is there never a dressing when salad is served as a filling on the plate??? My husband had the chicken with garlic and rice and he was a little disappointed with the bland seasoning. We could look into the kitchen: ...and we ask ourselves, why is the cook allowed to smoke in the kitchen and we had a smoking ban?!

Expensive for the little food on the plate. Menu or drinks menu In the restaurant it can only be viewed digitally with a QR code on your mobile phone or tablet in the restaurant. Analogue map is available but not up to date. Service from reception to ordering was unfriendly. When I asked whether one could get a children's plate due to health problems (not being able to eat a normal portion of food), after a long discussion with the waitress and explanation on my part, the waitress took it as a joke. Tried it once and that was it - - not again. There were five of us there and we were all more than disappointed.

Ein hübsches Restaurant mit einem sehr freundlichen Service. Habe vorher reserviert, da wir die von Gästen gelobte Tapasplatte essen wollten. Leider wurden wir etwas enttäuscht. Fast alles waren Fertigprodukte vom Großhandel. Das spanische hat mich erfreut. Trotzdem war es ein angenehmer Abend.

Das Essen wird frisch zubereitet mit guten Zutaten und einer interessanten Speisekarte! Der Service ist sehr freundlich und bemüht, versteht Spaß! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir waren eine Woche auf Rügen und waren in vielen Orten und Restaurants Essen , das war mit Abstand das beste Restaurant! Kann man nur empfehlen!!

You definitely have to eat there

Before our vacation, I had already asked where you could eat well in Sassnitz. Because of the good reviews and the promising mix of German and Spanish cuisine, I chose this restaurant and reserved a table by phone. A reservation is definitely recommended, as we observed several times during our stay how spontaneously arriving guests unfortunately had to be turned away. Even after the rain had stopped and the few terrace seats were immediately set up, there was not enough space for everyone who wanted to eat here on Friday evening. The service was very friendly. QR codes take you to the digital food and drink menu. That doesn't bother me, but I asked myself what if a guest doesn't have a smartphone with them or isn't that adept at using it. The drink order came to the table quickly, the bread as a starter after just over 10 minutes and the main courses after about three quarters of an hour. First of all there was a small bowl of gazpacho as a greeting from the kitchen. The waiting time was certainly due to the high number of guests, but above all the food here is fresh. You could hear the schnitzel hammer coming from the kitchen several times. The portions were good and the food (especially the fried potatoes!) was very tasty. Our dessert was flambéed directly at the table. You can feel that you take time for your guests here. By the way, there were cloth towels in the (very clean) toilets. This is absolutely not a must, but it is another nice detail. Clear recommendation!

A must every year on Rügen vacation and definitely our favorite restaurant in Sassnitz! Attentive and very friendly service; varied selection of dishes (summer/winter) and of course first-class food! Reservations are advisable (for a seat inside); But it also works until around 7 p.m. with a “spontaneous visit”.

Went there for the second time on Monday and it was awesome again. If we're back on Rügen next year, we'll see each other. 😀 Greetings from Goslar. 5 stars are actually not enough. We went there without a reservation and shortly after 5 p.m. the restaurant was almost full! We still got a table. The service (Magda, she'll do it) is absolutely great! The recommended food was sensational. Plaice fillet and the hot pot with sweet potato fries were unique! There was also a small greeting from the kitchen beforehand. Delicious. Ordered another table for Monday evening. 😀

Let's start from the beginning. You come into the restaurant and are greeted by nice music and a very nice and pleasantly decorated restaurant. The service staff are nice and we got a table (8 people) straight away. The menu is completely digital and can be opened using a QR code. The watchlist causes the site to crash on the iPhone, otherwise the system is great. After a short while, a service person with a slight accent came and took the order for the drinks. So far everything is good. After a short wait she came back with the drinks and took the order for the food. One of my colleagues I was there with wanted fried potatoes with his steak instead of fries. This didn't work because the sauce supposedly wouldn't go well with it. Another friend, who is a little smaller and can't handle large portions, wanted to order a schnitzel for children because of the size. This was denied to her. She is over 14 and therefore cannot order this. She then wanted a normal Viennese style schnitzel but without bacon. This wish was also granted. The statement from Servixe Kraft: “The fried potatoes all come from the same plate and it would be too much effort”. I have no understanding of that. After an okay wait, the food came. The steaks were medium, but no one asked beforehand whether medium or something else was desired. There was no dip or anything else for the fries that came as a side dish with the steak. Also, there wasn't enough sauce on the stick to dip the fries with. So why wouldn't fried potatoes have been possible here if there's no sauce for the fries anyway. Where is the argument? The price is okay for the location and the food. You should expect €25-40 per person. I wouldn't recommend coming here.

The food tasted very, very good. Unfortunately, the three of us at the table ordered the hot pot and the sweet potatoes were served in a shared basket. It was really far too little and we ordered more, which cost another €5.90... I call that cheap. Tip to everyone: expressly ask for extra containers for your potatoes or anything else. A lady at our table wanted some extra bread, she actually got a single thin slice... for such stinginess I deduct the stars, no matter how good the food is.

Interesting restaurant with good food. We ordered the tappas plate twice and got everything on one plate, which was extremely unusual. It's more common for animals to eat from a pot. A lot of green salad on ONE plate doesn't make the meal any more. Little but good food for the money. The (plate for 2) would be my starter. The highest drink prices I've ever seen. Up to €6.40 for 0.4l of beer, which was probably brewed by the Apollo mission on the moon. If the competition has the same prices as you read here in the recessions, maybe you've just written off? You save yourself the hassle of calculating. Menu on the tablet, so you don't want grandma here anymore, but she still has the inheritance to distribute. There's nothing left for me to do now. Tip: Take part in the campaign, don't order any more drinks, the price is too high. Rügen, the north of central Germany continues to take off, but LNG Ternimals will take care of it. An evening made by sponsoring Haus Urlaub und Yacht. A lid fits each pot. It didn't fit. Completed.

We were in the restaurant yesterday and were very impressed. We had the excellent fresh Tappas platter which we could barely finish. Very nicely presented on a large porcelain plate. I also enjoyed an original Spanish Estrella beer fresh from the tap For me the price depends on the taste, it was wonderful. I can't understand the previous review, especially since a local beer in comparable restaurants is in the same price range. We love the place and would love to come back
