Exceptionally excellent food! Very nice ambiance and great service.

Excellent quality and taste. Even the salad dressing (honey mustard) was top-notch. We had the Käthe and Karl fish plates, both of which are highly recommended. Reservations are a good idea here.

Update June 2025: Even on our fourth North Sea vacation, it was clear we would return to Käthe & Karl 🥰. This year, even for my husband's birthday, on the last evening of our vacation. The food was fantastic, and the service, as usual, was super pleasantly calm and unstressed. We'll definitely be back in 2026. Update May 2024: This year, again, it was our farewell dinner on the North Sea for the four of us (2 kids & 2 adults) before we head home the next day. We reserved our table immediately upon arrival (it's difficult to get a table without one). Everything still fits together here 🥰. This time we opted for the lamb with herb crust and sweet potato fries, and the kids opted for nuggets. What can I say?! Another dream 😍. Big praise again to the chef. The service staff was also super friendly and genuine, as every year. The only thing we missed this year was the "chocolate cake," which is unfortunately no longer on the menu. We'll probably be back next year 😍. Thank you so much for the wonderful evening with excellent food. After we were able to get a table for the four of us on our vacation in summer 2021 and were extremely satisfied with the food, ambiance, and the friendly and helpful staff, we were drawn back to the North Sea this year (Whitsun holidays 2023). Käthe and Karl couldn't be missed this time either. The rump steak melts in the mouth and is a dream (just like in 2021). The kids' nuggets and fish fingers were also delicious. The fries were just the way we like them. The dessert, a chocolate dream, was the highlight of the evening. For us, the price-performance ratio is absolutely right. We will eat here again next year on our North Sea vacation. Thank you for the great food and great service. We look forward to next year.

We visited this lovely restaurant for the first time. The food was excellent. The service was attentive, and the ambiance was lovely, traditional with a modern twist. The chairs were very comfortable. We've already reserved another table; we're here for a few more days on vacation and would like to enjoy one or two more things from the extensive menu.

Simply fantastic! We visited Käthe & Karl for the first time today and were absolutely thrilled. The restaurant is decorated with incredible attention to detail – rustic, playful, and simply cozy. You feel welcome from the very first moment. The service was outstanding – the two employees were super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. You can tell that they truly enjoy their work. The food was an absolute highlight: excellent taste, top quality, and lovingly prepared. Everything fit together perfectly – ambiance, service, and cuisine. We also particularly appreciated the family atmosphere and the fact that children are warmly welcomed here – unfortunately, that's not a given everywhere. For us, it was an all-round successful evening. We will definitely be back and can warmly recommend Käthe & Karl!

...somehow we're always unlucky! Today we spontaneously drove to Dornumersiel for a nice meal! Nice restaurant, very friendly service... but the food was a disgrace!!! Less than 90 grams of fish, plaice fillet in this case, on the plate, but potatoes for two and a completely oversized salad. The crab plate, well... more like fried potatoes with a hint of awful-tasting crab. The potatoes were lukewarm and soft, with no flavor at all, and no trace of cooking. The salad was also oversized. All in all, just bad, and the overall price-performance ratio is far from reality. Unfortunately, we've never really experienced anything better there and probably won't go there again in the future. Simply a shame!!

Four of us were there for our wedding anniversary, and it was a wonderful evening with exceptionally delicious food, lovingly prepared with high-quality, fresh ingredients. The table we had booked in advance was even decorated to suit the occasion, and the staff and ambiance were truly outstanding. We felt so comfortable that the time flew by, and we would have loved to stay a little longer, enjoying a delicious meal or two and a good drink. We unreservedly recommend it, and once again, our sincere thanks to the friendly and professional team. Please keep up the good work; we'd love to come back. The only thing is, let's just say, the parking situation is a bit tricky.

We spent our vacation nearby. I became aware of the restaurant by chance on the Internet. We had reserved a table in advance via the website. The restaurant is well located. There are parking options around it, a few minutes' walk away. We really liked the ambience of the restaurant. The service was super friendly and attentive. The food was very good 👍 fresh, top quality and tasted great. We had a starter, two main courses and two desserts + drinks and were very pleasantly surprised at the very good value for money. We'll definitely be back.

Incredibly delicious food and super attentive and great staff. The furnishings were very cozy and the remnants of the old blacksmith's shop only emphasized that. Käthe and Karl are definitely a reason to come back to Dornum. It should also be mentioned that the team is super animal-friendly. There are a few more imaginary stars for that. 😌

A great restaurant, an insider tip, a "MUST"!! We've been going to the coast all our lives, but now - thanks to a tip - we were at "Käthe+Karl" for the first time. A direct hit: - great restaurant - rustic, cozy and lovingly furnished - Very friendly and attentive staff And the most important thing: Fortunately, a manageable menu that still offers something for every taste. The dishes have appealing names and all have something special. I chose the “Surf and Turf” version, which Käthe+Karl describes as Ostfriesenschnitzel. Here, schnitzel with fried eggs meets North Sea crabs. Mmmmmm... About the ambience: We were here for a birthday. The table was lovingly decorated with HappyBirthday items. Super! Conclusion: In the future, a visit to Käthe+Karl will be a must on our North Sea holidays! Dear K+K team: Thanks and keep it up!

We had already booked a table a few weeks before our arrival (from the Harz!) (service and friendliness are still very important here! RESPECT & THANKS!). Is also highly recommended as the restaurant is very busy. I casually mentioned on the phone that it was a birthday dinner. The table was very warmly set for the birthday child :) Thank you again for that! It's a beautiful, cozy restaurant with very nice and attentive staff. We kept asking whether everything was OK and whether we were satisfied. The portions were large and it tasted excellent. Conclusion: We will definitely visit Käthe&Karl again on our next North Sea vacation

There were three of us there and we had cod in herbs, a fish platter of Käthe and crabs with a fried egg, fried potatoes and beetroot. We were thrilled with the beautifully presented food. They taste very good. The nice lady who served us was attentive and friendly. We felt very comfortable. Even in the dignified, cozy furnishings.

Food for the special occasion .Nix 0815 . Quality has its justifiable price. We're on vacation in Dunum and found this ambience online with excellent reviews and an easy-to-read menu. We have reserved which is also recommended. There is very little parking space in front of the door, but you can park your car at the supermarket 30 m away. The starter and main course were great, the selection of drinks left nothing to be desired. It would have been nice to have been able to order a Störtebeker beer, unfortunately there was only local Veltins

The ambience is nice and the staff is friendly and nice. Our dog got something to drink first. Great👍. The food tasted good and came very quickly. Unfortunately my fried potatoes were almost cold. They were heated again, but it was still not satisfactory. Therefore a star deduction. I would have expected more given the prices. Otherwise everything was okay. You should reserve in advance, otherwise you won't get a seat.

This wasn't my family's first visit. We've always been very satisfied. Unfortunately, that has changed somewhat. We were a bit disappointed during our visit in March 2025. We expected more for the slightly more expensive dishes.

Great delicious food, super friendly service, and a nice ambience. A really nice restaurant. Our dog was welcome. Not only did she immediately get a bowl of water without asking, but when she paid the bill she also received two treats on top. That's what we call being very attentive and with a love for detail. We stumbled upon “Käthe & Karl” by chance. Even without a reservation we got a wonderful place (there were two of us). The food was incredibly good and worth every cent.

We visit East Frisia once a year. A meal at "Käthe and Karl" is a must every time, and as always, it was fantastic 😃. This time, the fireplace was even lit. This made the atmosphere even cozier than it already is 😃 In short: this restaurant is highly recommended!

Our birthday after-party in a small family group was lovingly prepared after prior reservation - also decoratively at the table for 6 including a high chair. Our time slot of 2 hours was easily adhered to thanks to the perfect interaction between the kitchen and the very friendly service staff. A rustic ambience and really delicious food ensured perfect hospitality - nothing more is possible!
