We were at Käthe&Karl yesterday. The service was fantastic. The man decorated our table and congratulated us on our silver wedding anniversary. The food was incredibly delicious. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

The reservation and, in our opinion, the limited one-and-a-half-hour time slot for a multi-course meal didn't allow for a moment of pure enjoyment. The ambiance is "quaint," although we found it a bit overstuffed. At some seats, the freedom of movement was noticeably restricted. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was OK, although pulverized fish fillets were a bit out of the question at the price.

Beautiful, cozy restaurant. We received a friendly welcome and the service was very attentive. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good. The fries were over-fried, the spare ribs were grilled for too long and were dry, and the schnitzel with the creamy chanterelle sauce also left a lot to be desired. Only the side salad was excellent. We were very disappointed 😔

It's difficult to get a seat without a reservation. The atmosphere and flair are great. The food is high-quality and unique, so the price is reasonable. It tasted amazing and we enjoyed it. I especially liked the dessert... The menu here features some unusual and delicious desserts.

Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The absolute number one restaurant in the Störtebeker Straße area from Bensersiel to Greetsiel. Although the building may be rather unassuming on the outside, it still has many inner qualities. Highly recommended.

Hi, it looks very inconspicuous from the outside. We've been going to Dornum since 2017 and never noticed it. The Google reviews finally led us there. After making an online reservation, which was quickly confirmed, we were there. A small visual surprise for my birthday, very attentive. Very friendly, attentive service, a large selection of drinks, and then we got to eat. Whether it was a session or a classic, everything was delicious and plentiful. Good food for the money. We'll be back.

We now eat at Käthe & Karl's every year when we're up here, and I'm always glad we did. Super friendly staff, excellent chef, and a lovely atmosphere. It's a bit more expensive than a restaurant where the schnitzels are fried in a deep fryer, of course. I definitely recommend it!!!!!

We haven't eaten this well in a long time. Very inviting atmosphere. Nice, friendly, and unobtrusive service. The food was beautifully presented and tasted really good. The big surprise was the dessert, the "Sweet Dutch Baby." A small pancake cooked in a very hot iron pan with fresh strawberries, ice cream, and a little whipped cream. A true taste experience! We highly recommend this restaurant and would love to come back on our next visit to Dornum.

We were here on our first evening without a reservation. The staff were very helpful and found two seats for us. The atmosphere was very cozy, but the food was unfortunately overpriced and disappointing. The fish plate was nothing special, overpriced for the price. The salad had way too much dressing. Not worth a second visit for me.

Update June 2025: Even on our fourth North Sea vacation, it was clear we would return to Käthe & Karl 🥰. This year, even for my husband's birthday, on the last evening of our vacation. The food was fantastic, and the service, as usual, was super pleasantly calm and unstressed. We'll definitely be back in 2026. Update May 2024: This year, again, it was our farewell dinner on the North Sea for the four of us (2 kids & 2 adults) before we head home the next day. We reserved our table immediately upon arrival (it's difficult to get a table without one). Everything still fits together here 🥰. This time we opted for the lamb with herb crust and sweet potato fries, and the kids opted for nuggets. What can I say?! Another dream 😍. Big praise again to the chef. The service staff was also super friendly and genuine, as every year. The only thing we missed this year was the "chocolate cake," which is unfortunately no longer on the menu. We'll probably be back next year 😍. Thank you so much for the wonderful evening with excellent food. After we were able to get a table for the four of us on our vacation in summer 2021 and were extremely satisfied with the food, ambiance, and the friendly and helpful staff, we were drawn back to the North Sea this year (Whitsun holidays 2023). Käthe and Karl couldn't be missed this time either. The rump steak melts in the mouth and is a dream (just like in 2021). The kids' nuggets and fish fingers were also delicious. The fries were just the way we like them. The dessert, a chocolate dream, was the highlight of the evening. For us, the price-performance ratio is absolutely right. We will eat here again next year on our North Sea vacation. Thank you for the great food and great service. We look forward to next year.

We visited this lovely restaurant for the first time. The food was excellent. The service was attentive, and the ambiance was lovely, traditional with a modern twist. The chairs were very comfortable. We've already reserved another table; we're here for a few more days on vacation and would like to enjoy one or two more things from the extensive menu.

The food was an absolute highlight: excellent taste, top quality, and lovingly prepared. Everything fit together perfectly – ambiance, service, and cuisine. We also particularly appreciated the family atmosphere and the fact that children are warmly welcomed here – unfortunately, that's not a given everywhere. For us, it was an all-round successful evening. We will definitely be back and can warmly recommend Käthe & Karl!

...somehow we're always unlucky! Today we spontaneously drove to Dornumersiel for a nice meal! Nice restaurant, very friendly service... but the food was a disgrace!!! Less than 90 grams of fish, plaice fillet in this case, on the plate, but potatoes for two and a completely oversized salad. The crab plate, well... more like fried potatoes with a hint of awful-tasting crab. The potatoes were lukewarm and soft, with no flavor at all, and no trace of cooking. The salad was also oversized. All in all, just bad, and the overall price-performance ratio is far from reality. Unfortunately, we've never really experienced anything better there and probably won't go there again in the future. Simply a shame!!

We spent our vacation nearby. I became aware of the restaurant by chance on the Internet. We had reserved a table in advance via the website. The restaurant is well located. There are parking options around it, a few minutes' walk away. We really liked the ambience of the restaurant. The service was super friendly and attentive. The food was very good 👍 fresh, top quality and tasted great. We had a starter, two main courses and two desserts + drinks and were very pleasantly surprised at the very good value for money. We'll definitely be back.

Incredibly delicious food and super attentive and great staff. The furnishings were very cozy and the remnants of the old blacksmith's shop only emphasized that. Käthe and Karl are definitely a reason to come back to Dornum. It should also be mentioned that the team is super animal-friendly. There are a few more imaginary stars for that. 😌

The table was very warmly set for the birthday child :) Thank you again for that! It's a beautiful, cozy restaurant with very nice and attentive staff. We kept asking whether everything was OK and whether we were satisfied. The portions were large and it tasted excellent. A great restaurant, an insider tip, a "MUST"!! We've been going to the coast all our lives, but now - thanks to a tip - we were at "Käthe+Karl" for the first time. A direct hit: - great restaurant - rustic, cozy and lovingly furnished - Very friendly and attentive staff And the most important thing: Fortunately, a manageable menu that still offers something for every taste. The dishes have appealing names and all have something special. I chose the “Surf and Turf” version, which Käthe+Karl describes as Ostfriesenschnitzel. Here, schnitzel with fried eggs meets North Sea crabs. Mmmmmm... About the ambience: We were here for a birthday. The table was lovingly decorated with HappyBirthday items. Super! Conclusion: In the future, a visit to Käthe+Karl will be a must on our North Sea holidays! Dear K+K team: Thanks and keep it up!

There were three of us there and we had cod in herbs, a fish platter of Käthe and crabs with a fried egg, fried potatoes and beetroot. We were thrilled with the beautifully presented food. They taste very good. The nice lady who served us was attentive and friendly. We felt very comfortable. Even in the dignified, cozy furnishings.
