As always, everything was great, staff super friendly, food very good.

Wir hatten für 19.30 Uhr reserviert. Weil die Kinder wegen der langen Fahrt in unser Ferienhaus schon so müde waren, rief ich an und fragte, ob wir früher kommen könnten. Die Dame am Telefon war sehr nett und versprach uns anzurufen, wenn früher etwas frei werden würde. Gesagt, getan wir wurden eine Stunde früher angerufen und konnten gleich hinfahren. We were welcomed very nicely. Das Essen ist super lecker und der Service war sehr aufmerksam. We would love to come back.

We were there for dinner yesterday with the children. Since we had reserved a table for 7:30 p.m. but our children were already quite tired, we called briefly and asked if we could come earlier. Looked bad at first, but the friendly lady on the phone said they would call us if something became available. The call came around 6:40 p.m. and we set off straight away. Already a great service. The food itself was very tasty (we both had the Karl fish plate), I can only recommend the Bayreuth beer and the service was very accommodating. All in all a great deal and worth every cent.

Very good restaurant. Certainly one of the best in the surrounding area. Nice friendly atmosphere and great service. Food top. Had rump steak with mustard onion crust. Schnitzel with chanterelles and a children's schnitzel. Dessert and cappuccino also excellent. All in all a lovely end to a lovely day. For children you could provide a few colored pencils and something to color. Update:2024 We are still thrilled! Today we have, among other things, pumpkin soup and the main course is duck leg with pumpkin mashed potatoes. As always, everything was excellent.

We were warmly welcomed and the table was lovingly set for our birthday. We were very enthusiastic about the tasty food. The service was very friendly but not intrusive. We have already booked again for December. We can recommend the restaurant 100%. Thank you very much 🙂

We really liked it here. I had the porcini mushroom ravioli and my husband had Champion cream cheese. The staff were very nice and we also liked the atmosphere. It's just a little more expensive.

A very fine and cozy restaurant. The food was to die for. We haven't eaten so much and so much food in a long time. The portions are large and extremely customizable. I recommend the fish plate Käthe. Whether it's pasta, fish or schnitzel, it's a poem on the palate. The price is higher but the quality is also extremely good. The service and ambience left a very positive impression, you just feel comfortable. Highly recommended.

Hard to describe in words. It's an absolute delight. If we had visited this restaurant on the first day of our 4-day stay in Dornumergrode, we would have eaten there every day with 100% certainty

Were on vacation and discovered this gem, attracted by the good reviews. It was super tasty and the waitresses were sweet... attentive... friendly...!!!! The ambience was harmonious, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is very detailed.

Such a beautiful building in which a very cozy restaurant is set up. The service is friendly and very attentive. We ate the “Käthe” ​​fish plate and the grilled salmon on green pesto tagliatelle. The quality of the fish was very good and perfectly grilled or fried. The pasta was very well coated with the pesto, not dry at all. For dessert I treated myself to an eggnog affogato al caff'e, double espresso with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and eggnog. It's nice to see that there are still teams who put a lot of love and effort into creating such delicious food. Hopefully this restaurant will last a very long time.

Followed a recommendation and it was DEFINITELY worth it. Be sure to reserve early, especially on weekends. Great service, nice atmosphere and a pumpkin soup to kneel down on 🤩. If you are in the area and appreciate very good food, you should stop by here.

We were in the restaurant for the first time today. We came unexpectedly and without a reservation for a very good lunch. The fish platter and the schnitzel dish were very good and recommended. The service was also great. Simply a successful lunch. All of this calls for repetition.

What an unexpected surprise in such a small place! How often do you go out to eat and think... I would have expected more for this price!? Here you can eat and get an absolute highlight for every single cent! It starts with an uncomplicated seat reservation online... Continues to a wonderfully warm reception from the wait staff... And culminates in unexpected taste explosions! I had the porcini mushroom ravioli with rump steak, then we had Karl's fish plate and finally a lime dessert... 100% recommended! Please keep it up and stay with us for a long time!

Really delicious Being banned from the house unnecessarily

The restaurant seems inconspicuous from the outside, but when you go in you are really surprised. A very stylish and chic restaurant that has absolute character. The food was really extremely good, but I can't quite understand the €8 extra charge for 3 prawns on the steak. But that's really just complaining at a very high level and I would recommend everyone to stop by here.

You feel very welcome. The food is very tasty 😋 good quality and very well prepared. After all, the eye is with you. The water bowl came immediately for the dog without asking Great! We can only recommend it and will come back. Thank you for such a beautiful atmosphere and delicious food.

We visited Käthe&Karl for the second time in September 2024. The first time was in the summer of 2023 and we will indulge our taste buds again before we leave. We have only had good experiences throughout. The reservation by email also worked perfectly and we also received a reservation confirmation by post. Ate very tasty fish plates. The staff was very personable and attentive. The next visit was arranged immediately on site. The reservation system including email reminders worked great.

We haven't eaten so well and deliciously for a long time. The service was very good... friendly, courteous, unobtrusive, just made you feel good. The desserts were also very good. It's a feast for the eyes and a real treat for the palate.

Very cozy old restaurant, like an old fisherman's cathedral. The food is excellent, of course the prices are accordingly, but it's okay. Recommended: reserve in advance. Tuesdays are a rest day. We always enjoy eating there.

At the end of our holiday we had a very delicious meal yesterday, it was very cozy because the fireplace was burning. The food came very quickly and was very nicely prepared. The Iberico pork cheek was super tender and a poem.

We've been there a few times now and each time the food has been incredibly tasty. I have never eaten better fish on the coast. The restaurant is usually very busy and even though the restaurant is completely full, you are still shown very patiently how best to debone a fish. Rarely have we experienced such good service!

It was a completely successful and pleasant stay. The waitress was very nice and friendly, the food was excellent. I would strongly recommend reserving a table because the house is rightly always full. We were there on August 19th. there and they even responded to my husband's individual wish to set up a table for four for his birthday so that he had no idea that two more surprise guests were coming. There was even matching decoration, although this was not explicitly requested. Price-performance is simply top :)

The food was great, the atmosphere was rustic and nicely decorated. However, you should reserve in advance, otherwise you won't be able to get seats spontaneously. The only thing that was a bit annoying was the allotted time window for eating; when things get comfortable, the time is up. Otherwise highly recommended.

We have been going to the North Sea for years and always visit the “Alte Schmiede” restaurant in Dornumersiel. During our visit to the North Sea this time, we went back to Dornumersiel on October 16, 2018 and were irritated and - to be honest - also disappointed because the restaurant was renamed "Käthe und Karl". At first we didn't dare go in and then we had lunch there with three people. The cozy atmosphere is the same as before, the menu has changed slightly, and the prices are higher. We ate grilled king prawns, country chicken breast fillet in tarragon sauce and rump steak in pepper cream sauce. All of the food was excellent, the service was attentive but not intrusive. We were very satisfied and will visit “Käthe and Karl” again next time. We can only recommend this restaurant

We celebrated my grandfather's 88th birthday here and there were 8 people there. We are absolutely thrilled! From the extremely friendly and competent service to the dishes, everything was wonderful! It tasted like “to Kölle”, they say in the Rhineland :) Thank you very much, big praise for the service and kitchen. We will 100% come back!

I reserved a table for my birthday. Everything was very nicely prepared. Small deduction because the single table was in the corner in front of the women's toilet. The service was very friendly and kept an overview in the restaurant. Didn't seem intrusive at all. Food was very good and plentiful. The aperitif beforehand was very. Has some interesting drinks on the menu. Unfortunately I didn't manage to make dessert, but I would have liked to try it. I think the price is reasonable for the quantity and quality. The whole place makes a very nice impression. Toilets are very clean!

Very nice, rustic restaurant with friendly service and service for dogs (drinking bowls, treats). In our opinion the food is overpriced. A side salad must be ordered and paid for separately with a meat dish. The price-performance ratio is not quite right.

Good, tasty food in sufficient portions. Large salad as a side dish. Courteous service: but unfortunately too courteous. Therefore points deducted. We were assigned the table, given the food and drink menu and at the same time asked what we would like to drink. For the first time in this restaurant (as a holiday guest) we felt the need to take our time with the drinks and choose them in peace. The service had a different opinion. We sent the waitress away. After a minute she was back and we sent her away again. Then we finally got time to choose. The entire pressure of the service is probably based on the table reservation system for a maximum of 1.5 hours and therefore having to serve as many guests as possible. A bad system because you always have the feeling that you're finally leaving so that the next guests can get a table. But maybe it's just comfortable after 1.5 hours - and then you get the bill because the time is up.

We (2x adults & 2x children) were there for dinner on August 18th, 2024. Finding a parking space is a bit of a challenge, but those who are good on foot will find a solution. The ambience is great and tastefully decorated. The service is quick and attentive. The food - just wow 🤩 We had the fish plate Käthe, a children's plate with fish fillet and mashed potatoes (by the way, it's nice that there isn't always nuggets & fries on the menu, but a healthier alternative) as well as two rump steaks in pepper sauce with aioli. What can I say? A dream throughout. I haven't eaten out so well in a long time. Of course the prices are higher there, but worth every cent. The toilets are also clean and well maintained. If there were more than 5 stars I would give it.

Due to the good weather, we were able to get a table outside and only marvel at the great interior when we went to the toilet. The food was fantastic. Worth the price. We had steak with fries and pepper sauce - delicious, portion size generous. Fichteller “Karl” quote from my father: “The best fish I ate here on vacation.” Conclusion. Everything was delicious, service was great, fast and friendly. Again and again.
