Good gastronomy doesn't need stars! What Käthe and Karl's team offers here is simply top-notch. The food, the service – everything is of a high standard, and has been ever since we discovered this restaurant a few years ago. And the espresso afterward – I haven't had a better one anywhere (but that's a matter of taste).

We ate here twice again this year during our vacation with friends. We weren't disappointed either time. Everyone went home with a smile on their faces after an excellent meal. We'll definitely be back next year!

A unique restaurant with a rustic atmosphere. Time seems to stand still here. The prices for drinks and food are on the high side compared to other restaurants in the area, but the quality of the dishes and the ambiance make up for it. We chose: beef carpaccio, pork cheeks, and free-range chicken breast. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared, making it an acceptable value for money. Friendly, attentive service.

Just rolled home from Käthe & Karl. Super delicious, perfectly prepared food. My husband had the rump steak, which was cooked to perfection, and my pasta was also good enough to dance to. Good wine, great beer, tasty schnapps, and a good dessert... at the end, the dog even got a treat—what more could a person or dog want? The very attentive and friendly staff and cozy atmosphere topped it all off. Thank you for the lovely evening.

The restaurant is very quaint, you immediately feel at home, and the staff contributes a lot to that. The food is excellent; I've rarely eaten so much. The food combination was also excellent; I had chiroke and apple as a side dish. Very good 👍🏼. The selection of wine and drinks is extensive. I recommend the gin fizz. Definitely recommend it!!!

We were able to enjoy a wonderful evening twice last week. After registering with our dog, a dog-friendly table was reserved for us, so our Labrador also had enough space. It was also nice that he was immediately provided with water. The service and food were excellent on both evenings. The staff were friendly without being overly accommodating; you can tell they know what they're doing and enjoy their work. The menu offers something for every palate. Whether fish, meat, or vegetarian, our group tried everything, and everything was simply delicious. Unfortunately, the restaurant is now about 700 km away, so it will be some time before we can visit again. But we will definitely be back next time we're in the north. Thank you for the wonderful time in this quaint restaurant. Reservations seem to be necessary; we're obviously not the only ones who are enthusiastic about Käthe and Karl.

This place is amazing! We visited here for the first time last year and were absolutely thrilled with our first impression. So now we always come by whenever we're by the North Sea. It looks completely unassuming from the outside, but you enter a truly chic, industrial, yet quaint place, with the nicest and most respectful staff. You manage to walk the fine line between respectful distance and humorous proximity. Furthermore, all the staff are exceptionally attentive. The food is fantastic, and we haven't had a single dish we didn't like. We're already looking forward to our next vacation and our trip to Dornumersiel!

Unfortunately, both my husband and I found the meal less than spectacular. I had the smoked tofu. It wasn't seasoned. The potatoes weren't roasted, and everything was very oily, without much seasoning. I was a bit disappointed; I could have done better at home. My husband's fish dish was very simple. The amount of fish was quite small, and it came with a portion of fried potatoes and a side salad. The children's plate of schnitzel with fries was very good and plentiful. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and cozy. Nevertheless, we would have expected a different meal for the price.

Either we Southern Badeners are spoiled by our regional cuisine and French influences, or the reviews here are all too quick to give it five stars. The fish plate was pretty average, the sweet potato fries were terrible. We get a real culinary delight for the price of a plate, but here at Käthe&Karl, we left after one course and a drink and had dessert somewhere else. A shame. But the service was super friendly and attentive.

The two best restaurants along the German North Sea coast between Norden and Schillig are actually located in Dornum (or rather, a district of Dornum) – and one of them, Käthe & Karl, offers a truly comprehensive menu. It's almost surprising that such variety is possible at such a high level of quality, but it's also simply fantastic! The ambiance is "quaint," although we found it a bit overstuffed. At some seats, the freedom of movement was noticeably restricted. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was OK, although pulverized fish fillets were a bit out of the question at the price.
