Price-performance: One dish 15€ and the other almost 17€ without a side salad. The side salad costs another €4.4 and was unfortunately drowned in sauce. Very expensive as a combo, especially because you get a side salad with it in many restaurants. Therefore only 4 stars. Ambience: We thought it was good.

Service was very nice. Food came very quickly, so if you want to eat at your leisure, you better say so. Food was fine but ordinary, prices are reasonable, average 15 euros for a main course

I arrived from Dortmund today to have dinner with my girlfriend! Food was excellent, schnitzel, fries and the smoked pork with sauerkraut was really very tasty!! What struck me negatively was a waiter who was walking around listlessly and annoyed. In addition, my order for the sauces was received listlessly and incorrectly by the gentleman. When I asked, he said in a cheeky tone, yes, you want to do it twice, I understood. However, I ordered something completely different. At that moment, three guests of the house spoke to me and said that what the waiter was doing was not possible, totally anti-social behavior towards the customers!!! I have to draw a conclusion, my summary My personal waiter was really 1*+ grade, Zwischenkeller 5 grade, it felt like when he pitched in, it was as if two were letting go. Speed ​​until the drinks and food are delivered 2+ approx. 10 minutes! The restaurant manager was attentive to the complaint about the cellar for a short conversation and took his time, despite the rush of customers! That's what I call efficient work, Thanks again for that! Overall, a restaurant that you have to visit in Trier! I will come back and report how pleasant it was in the Ruhrpott despite the incident! I'm of the opinion that the taste of pressed schnitzel is like Höll. Sauce is also a finished product, the fried potatoes are no better, salad is 4.50 euros extra, I probably won't visit this restaurant again.

Fantastic food! It's exactly what you'd expect: potatoes in all shapes with onions, cheese and meat. Very hearty and prepared pretty much perfectly. Service was also very quick and good. Highly recommended if you're looking for some comfort food!

Quite a large restaurant and therefore the noise level was correspondingly high. We had reserved and got our table straight away. It didn't take long before we ordered and the drinks arrived promptly. And our food just as quickly. Great value for money, very nice service. All dishes were delicious.

Great German food and excellent service

We were in this restaurant two days ago, as we have been visiting sporadically for the last 15 years. Unfortunately the food was very bad this time. Apparently the schnitzels were no longer homemade, but were frozen goods from a wholesaler, like the ones we make at home from time to time. The Kassler was bone dry and the mixed sauerkraut with mashed potatoes was also stiff and stale. If this is the new trend, we will give preference to other restaurants in the future. The quality was complained to the waiter, who also passed the complaint on to his restaurant manager, but there was no response.

We ate as a family (7 people) at the Potato Box Trier and had made reservations in advance. Unfortunately we were given two separate tables, which were also served individually by the service staff. At the beginning, two people received their main course at the same time as the starter, while the remaining four main courses were staggered so that two of us had already finished eating when the others received their food. The food for our 1.5 year old child was completely forgotten and not given despite repeated requests. Another problem was the fried egg with the schnitzel, which we wanted to have cooked solid - it had to go back to the kitchen, but came later correctly. My steak didn't arrive until everyone else had already finished, as it was first served with fries instead of fried potatoes and then wasn't fried as requested. When asked, the blame was placed on the kitchen, without apology. Our last visit there – disappointing service and lack of coordination. Not recommended. PS: The changing room is in the disabled toilet, which cannot be found directly. You have to ask about it.

I've been to this restaurant several times because it's a good idea to eat there while strolling through the city. Great selection, friendly, professional waiters and waitresses. The quality of the food offered is good average. Regional dishes such as Terdisch, potato dumplings and Viez are recommended. The biggest advantage of this restaurant is its size, because you can almost always get a seat without registering and then continue exploring the pedestrian zone. I have always been satisfied here and I think the price-performance ratio is reasonable.

Unfortunately our pickup order was very disappointing. The first dish, a baked potato with sour cream and salad, came without sour cream. The only thing in the box was a large, lukewarm potato, along with a side salad that tasted delicious. As a chef, I would have been ashamed to put together a dish like that. The second dish, a vegetarian currywurst with fries, was also disappointing. The currywurst didn't taste good and the fries were fried for far too long - they were hard and inedible. All in all, unfortunately not a satisfactory experience if you spent around €24 on it.

We enjoyed the food very much and the portions were generous enough to fill us up. Service was neither unfriendly nor friendly, a bit listless. There is a sign outside on the step that says stop, wait here until someone comes to give you a place. Since it was raining, we dared to go in without being asked and waited in the door for a table to be assigned. A waiter came straight away who obviously didn't like the fact that we were acting so arbitrarily and then showed us a table. The rest was quick and problem-free. Gladly again.

September 25, 2024 We (my family and I) have just come from Trier. Since we were hungry there, we stopped at the kartoffelkiste like before, the food used to be very good, today it wasn't even at snack level. We had 3 potato soups with slices of sausage as starters, which were still very good. Afterwards I have schnitzel with champion cream sauce, fried potatoes and a toy egg. The schnitzel was apparently pre-breaded frozen food - taste = unsatisfactory. The fried potato is the same. The sauce was like a ready-made sauce with no taste. My son also had a frozen schnitzel and fries. My grandchild's fish sticks with fries, well there's no art in frying them. The colas we ordered consisted of ⅔ ice cubes, when they melted we drank water. Price performance = inadequate. Our napkins had obviously been sitting outside in cutlery jugs on the tables in the rainy weather, they were dripping wet, and they weren't even exchanged for the guests. At the table opposite sat an older gentleman drinking a small glass of beer. The man asked the male waiter whether he wanted to eat something, who replied that he had ordered food what felt like half an hour ago and nothing had come yet. Then another waitress came to the gentleman's table and said that the food had not yet been communicated to the kitchen. After about 10 minutes, the man was brought a schnitzel with potato salad, and he had to look for the portion of potato salad on the plate. When the older man later asked for the bill, they wanted to charge him for a side salad that he never got. The dissatisfaction is written on the man's face. At the table next to us, guests ordered fries with currywurst. Instead of hot curry sauce there was ketchup with curry powder on the sausage, the guests looked at each other in surprise. The toilets in the basement had paper towels lying all over the ground and various toilet doors had no handles. When we left the restaurant, our waitress couldn't even pull her teeth together to say goodbye. - impossible.

A very popular restaurant in Trier, and easy to see why... Great variety within their potato theme(!) and the food is tasty and good value. Service can be a bit varied when very busy (which it often is).

There were four of us there and we had a Kappes Terdisch. Sausage salad, a Bavarian meatloaf with potato salad, a potato soup and a paprika schnitzel with fries. We enjoyed it very much. Price/performance ratio very good. The staff friendly and attentive. I can give an unreserved recommendation. Thumbs up 👍👍👍👍

We were there in the afternoon and a place was assigned to us. The waitress came and brought the card very quickly. If you are from the USA, think Bob's Big Boy or Denny's but for German food but better, because you can get beer... you can get a large beer! The portions are big. The mune is massive and the food is good and comes out quickly. I'll be honest this was not our first or even third choice in Trier but we enjoyed our meal and we just beat out a huge crowd so it is a popular location.

I went in June to visit Trier. After a long walk we sat down to eat here. Everything was going well until they forgot our order... we saw that everyone was getting their food except us. When we told them they realized the mistake and took it to us immediately. The food is very good and abundant. The beer is good and cold. The terrace is very pleasant.

The restaurant offers vegetarian meals. They are designated 'vegan', which is incorrect. However, if one can eat dairy, then it is good. Service is friendly. A sign asks to wait to be seated. In my experience, that was not the case, as nobody invited nor bothered me when eventually I found myself an empty table outside. The table section is separated by plant boxes from the square it is on. It's home to a water fountain that provided a lovely background noise of dropping water.

Great food but large portions good atmosphere and service

Last year I came here for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. It was delicious and quite a lot compared to how cheap it is. Today I came here again and ordered something different from last year and it was yet again spot on. I'll be sure to return here next year when I come back to Trier in summer.

Food very ordinary and un-German small portions. Our waiter seemed to be on his first day and did not know the menu, he could only work with the numbers of the dishes. This may also have been due to his poor knowledge of the German language. Female colleague made a more experienced impression but also did not know where the Jägerschnitzel could be found on the menu. Then waiter number 2 was sent and he showed us a few alternatives on the menu "also with a lot of mushrooms". And that's how it actually is: there may have been more than 100 schnitzels on the menu, but this number could easily be reduced to 15 pieces. The lesson: don't go to the cheapest schnitzel restaurant and don't expect (good) service there. Maybe don't go to a schnitzel restaurant at all anymore.

Here you can really enjoy all kinds of potato dishes. They have a large selection and there is something for every taste. The interior is also very cozy and the service is good and fast.

Criticism for further improvement: Of all things, the taste of the potatoes was only average - but as fried potatoes they were just right in the pan. The service is not good and they were very rude to other customers. It seems as if they react overly emotional to requests or guests doing things differently than they want it done. It is also very fast paced, so if you want a relaxing dinner without being rushed I wouldn't recommend going there. The food is alright but not high quality. Overall if you want to try something regional I would say go to Früh bis Spät and try the Spießbraten or Hackbraten

We have previously been to a potato house in Aachen, which unfortunately no longer exists. This was already very good but the potato house Kiste in Trier far surpasses this. I've rarely eaten so well. Price performance ratio is very good. I would say you have a culinary gap if you haven't eaten at the potato house Kiste in Trier. Definitely 5 stars because they are no longer available.

Food is here is good, I tried the currywurst and the Kartoffelklöße in two separate occasions. Currywurst is good but nothing special, while the potatoball was very tasty and satisfying. I must admit I was there twice, once with a local and another time with my foreign family who was visiting, and I was treated very differently by the same server, who was not particularly kind in the second case and made some snarky remarks to his colleague (likely thinking we couldn’t hear or notice) which left a bad impression on me.
