Restaurant "Great-Wok" in Trier

Since the beginning, I have enjoyed eating there with friends and family. Although there is a lot on offer, everything tastes very, very marginal. What I know as Chinese food tastes far better. In terms of taste, everything leaves a lot to be desired, the specific spices are simply missing. The ambience has now become that of a train station and transit level. But apparently the quantity makes it so that quality is less important.

Raw food that is then cooked by a chef is terrible. It is impossible to eat, it is saturated with the taste of long-used oil, the sauces are almost undetectable. The seafood looks spoiled. The food, which is already ready-made, is more or less normal, but not worth the money.

I ate from the buffet and it was very tasty. The staff is friendly and I felt very comfortable there. What more could you want? Highly recommended.

Goedkoop en dat is wel duidelijk. Kant en klaar gerechten zijn koud. Helft van de gerechten waren op als ook de toetjes en dat al om 20:00 uur in de avond op zaterdag. Bediening laat erg lang op zich wachten. We zijn de drankjes zelf maar gaan halen bij de bar. Er zit ook heel veel vetsin in het eten allemaal rode oortjes. Tja raad ik dit aan? Als je niet veel geld hebt misschien. Voor mij is het geen aanrader.

Buffet ist ja teilweise so eine Sache, hier allerdings nichts zu beanstanden. Gute Auswahl, die auch recht regelmäßig aufgefüllt wurde. Waren zur Mittagszeit bei mittlerem Betrieb am Wochenende da und es verlief alles reibungslos und schnell. Wer chinesisch vom Buffet mag, wird hier auf seine Kosten kommen. Von Preis/Leistung her ebenfalls zu empfehlen.

Reserved a table for 4 people on New Year's Eve today and was totally overbooked. We waited in a queue of people who were in a very bad mood and then after a while we went to the competition. A little tip next time, don't just accept reservations and not be able to guarantee them. It's a shame we thought it would be a nice evening at the great wok, but it turned out to be a great evening at the other Chinese restaurant.

Buffet meal for 8 people on Christmas Day at 6 p.m. The ready-made dishes from the buffet were very good and always plentiful. However, the food prepared at the grill buffet was disappointing. The cook also has to check the seasoning. At some point our plates were no longer cleared, which was really annoying. The toilets weren't in really good condition either. I found the price of the buffet too high for this lack of service.

The store is too crowded. The buffet area is too small. You have to wait too long in line to get to the buffet. If I get noodles, they are cold before I get to the fried things.

The food tastes like it has been prepared for three days! The buffet was very limited and poor. The service was very unpleasant! Never again.

The evening buffet was great, the service was very nice and quick. Only the cook at the Mongolian grill seemed a little overwhelmed by the rush. Update October 2024: This has gotten better now 👍 Good value for money, it won't be the last time I've been there, I promise!

For 25 euros per person you shouldn't expect much in terms of cuisine, we thought, and we didn't. We were pleasantly surprised by a spacious and busy Asian restaurant, with a wide choice of food at the buffet. Definitely worth an overall 3 stars (1 star is really nonsense). We didn't think the wok was very special, but the sushi was okay (we think it had already been made earlier in the day and kept in the refrigerator) and also the containers/bowls with various Chinese food were good. Assorted fruit and ice cream for dessert. Unfortunately the chocolate fountain was defective. We wouldn't go back there again, but it was quite OK for once, also suitable for children. Friendly Chinese businesswoman.

I've never eaten so badly! We had to end our visit early and you paid over €60 for that. The staff didn't even respond to the complaint. We will avoid this place... If you want good food, you'd better choose another restaurant... it's a shame

Rating for Great Wok, Trier I recently had the opportunity to visit Great Wok in Trier and unfortunately I was very disappointed with my meal. The selection of Asian dishes is varied, but the quality left a lot to be desired. Overall, the food I ordered was very dry and didn't taste fresh. In particular, the fruit on the side was not fresh and had a strange taste, which greatly detracted from the overall experience. I was hoping for more from the preparation and flavors. The atmosphere in the restaurant is modern and inviting, which is a positive thing. The staff was friendly, but the wait times were a little long, which wasn't ideal. Another downside is the parking situation in the area, as it can sometimes be difficult to find a space, especially on busy days. Overall, I can't really recommend Great Wok as I was disappointed with the quality of the food. I hope they improve their standards in the future before I come back.

Very good place to go to with friends or family. Good food & polite servers. Lunch time seems to be relaxed, dinner/evening a bit more crowded. Lunch buffet is cheaper & limited in comparison to the evening buffet as most places do. Only a single negative comment from my last time: What I saw wasn't Fried Rice but only seemed to be plain cooked rice & if you tried to find more you could find 1 or 2 peas.

We came in around 8:00 p.m., the buffet was open until 10:00 p.m., so we were told we could sit wherever we wanted, we chose a table, I was still sitting down, my girlfriend was already sitting, then it was already asked what we would like to drink. In the stress we quickly chose something and then we got up and helped ourselves to the buffet. I had some soup and then moved on to the main course. Shortly after 9 p.m. we finished the main course and got up again to go to the dessert buffet. I hadn't yet passed our table and the waitress was already there with the card machine and wanted to collect €65. I asked her if the opening times were wrong. She said: Yes, but her colleague said we would want to pay. I said that we didn't call anyone. I then took dessert and the waitress sat at a table in the room and watched us the whole time. It became such an uncomfortable atmosphere and we felt like every step of the way was being watched as if it were a prison restaurant and the waiters were prison guards. Well, we didn't want to cause them any trouble and didn't order anything else to drink, but went straight to the checkout at around 9:30 p.m. to pay. The waitress then got up from her seat and rushed to the cash register with her card machine. The 65 that she had typed in before was still there. We paid and fled outside and finally felt freedom again.

The location is good, the restaurant is clean, the condition is friendly and attentive. Like an all-inclusive vacation. The food is so-so, nothing special, grilled food (meat or fish) is too salty and served with the taste of fried garlic. The buffet in the evening currently costs €25. Drinks are not cheap, otherwise ok.

Were disappointed. For the price, everything always has to be filled up as quickly as possible. Unfortunately it wasn't like that.

I haven't been a fan of China until now and have had a lot of bad experiences. But this restaurant convinced me and I'll be going there again soon.

Vanuit de camping speciaal voor de sushi naar dit restaurant gereden. We waren daar 4 uur voor sluitingstijd en alle sushi was op en werd niet meer aangevuld. Rest van het eten niets bijzonders. Restaurant kijkt wel net en bediening is prima, maar om het eten hoef je niet te gaan. Ik ken veel betere restaurants.

The name “Great” wok doesn’t mean it here! The three of us came here for dinner at 8 p.m. during the week. When we arrived there was no more sushi/maki. I was hoping that it would be refilled, after all the restaurant is still open for 3 hours. But none. The freshly prepared salmon tasted bitter, was burnt and the sauce was lumpy. Several main courses looked rather unappetizing or were cold. By the time we got to dessert, this buffet was also empty, except for the ice cream (and it was only 9pm). When I asked if something would be refilled, there was a shrug of the shoulders and ready-made waffles were brought outside. The service was also subpar, we were only asked for drinks at the beginning. The atmosphere is generally very nice, but they don't care much about cleanliness. The toilets were dirty and even full of vomit. In summary: I will definitely never eat anything here again and I absolutely cannot recommend the Great Wok!

Since our daughter is still quite small, we were there shortly after the store opened. I took what was actually fresh salmon from the sushi buffet. When I tasted how sour the salmon was, I told the waitress. He left and I could see that they were removing the fish from the buffet. Nobody came up to us and informed us or thanked us for the tip. Nobody came and apologized to us or anything like that. In principle, I don't ask for anything to be reduced in price, but in the event of a breakdown like this, I expect an apology. I lost my appetite due to my anger at the behavior of the staff and I can't and won't go to the Great Wok again.

A nice cozy restaurant. The conditions are very nice, polite and not intrusive. The food is neatly prepared, the pots are never empty and the food is very tasty. The evening buffet for just under 26 euros is acceptable. I can recommend Great-Wok with a clear conscience.

Very tasty food and friendly staff. The restaurant works according to the principle of "buffet table". Several zones with different food. Sushi, vegetables, raw food, seafood, fish, meat and vegetables, which you can put on a plate and attach a table number by choosing one of many sauces. Within 10-15 minutes, they bring you a ready-made dish. There is a separate area with ready-made hot food - fish, poultry, meat, baked and stewed vegetables, as well as many different foods in batter. There is also an area with sweets, ice cream and fruit. You can eat as much as you want. But you have to take a little at a time, at least ten times, because it is considered a stupid tone to leave food on the plates. Drinks include beer, cola, water. The average bill per person is around €30. I really liked. I can definitely recommend this restaurant! Thanks to the owners of the institution and its staff.❤️

The quality of the sushi is worse than packaged food from the supermarket... Fish and meat for the grill are often empty. The finished dishes are okay. The fruit for dessert was very good.

We are four people and we have 143€ pay, that was really more expensive than before We have already paid €110. That was a buffet for four people + 6 times of cola.

The food itself was very tasty. But what really annoys me is that we were there on a Tuesday (the price is less during the week than on weekends or public holidays) and the things that I think are “expensive” to buy were simply NOT refilled! There was no sashimi or it was empty and I didn't see a single scallop because they weren't refilled either. We were there for a total of 2 hours and I waited for some more to be refilled. It wasn't like that. The fried salmon also came very late. So if a restaurant wants to save money like that, it's best not to offer anything at all.

Update April 27, 2024 The quality of the food and service has declined even further. Food is oversalted and on weekends you can't order from the menu because the chef is supposedly busy. There would also be an option to serve a plate of food from the buffet. The prices are outrageous too. The fact is: never again! The former GRAT WOK is now very small in contrast to the competition. The fries were really disgusting, the meat wasn't good either and if you left food on a plate, you have to pay at least €25 for a total of 1kg! It's probably the "Great Wok" in goose fish because it's not good!

Unfortunately, the food didn't knock my socks off. It was so mediocre. Apparently one of the best in Trier. Maybe I'm used to a different standard from NRW.

Not recommendable ! The food used to be better. Not recommended for the price. The bad thing was that we lost our appetite when we discovered mold on the "ice cream". Complete on the glass and on the sliding door. Where is something like that? We reported this to the staff. There was little understanding and even though we didn't want to eat any more, they didn't agree with us in terms of price! Definitely our last visit and just bad when children help themselves to dessert and it's so dirty!!

Overall a good selection of food. There are noodles, meat, fish, rice, soup, dessert and fresh salad and much more. The quality is perfectly fine considering the price/performance ratio. But there is no list of ingredients or allergens on display, and unfortunately the food doesn't say what is what, e.g. ice cream flavors. Unfortunately, the food is often too cold. Unfortunately, I can only eat what I can eat. My tip: publicly display the list of ingredients and allergens for the dish. Also increase the temperature of the buffet. The drink price of almost 5 euros for a 0.5l soft drink is also a bit steep. The ambience is okay, but I miss the typical decoration points here, such as an aquarium, Chinese lamps or similar. The background music Unfortunately it doesn't suit the restaurant either, classical music is played. All in all, everything is fine. Sanitary facilities and rooms are clean. We ate there again today after years, an absolute disaster!!! The meat, where you can get it yourself, for grilling, was definitely still there from the lunch buffet, completely gray and in a strange broth. The vegetables totally dried out. The clips for the plates were anything but clean; you could see what the previous guest had. I could go on and on but to conclude, we will never go here again. Even one star is still too many.

Great restaurant with plenty of choice of food.

For us it was always one of the best Chinese restaurants. The selection is still great, but the taste and friendly staff have deteriorated. Whatever the reason, the fish area is the most popular. Kangaroo shark and frog legs were out. Will continue to visit until a certain point. So put in some effort again.

At the buffet there are many different dishes and a large selection, but somehow everything tastes the same. The spring rolls only consist of dough and unfortunately there are no vegetables in them. With popular dishes such as: E.g. fried fish fillet, it may take some time to refill.

Buffet is of variable quality. Most of the time it is very tasty. The relatively low price for the ayce makes up for any minor shortcomings.

Allergens are very poorly distinguished. Food from the grill was brought to the wrong tables and (when it arrived) contained food or sauces that were not put on it. They also wanted to charge us for drinks that we ordered but never received. Some of the food was empty for a long time and wasn't refilled or it was only lukewarm. There was no response to our feedback regarding payment. We won't be coming back!

Buffet am.Samstag Abend war sehr reichhaltig und der Service war schnell und freundlich. Wir waren beim Sylvesterbüffet dort mit 12 Personen und fanden es alle sehr gut. Ex Ding ausreichend Parkplätze vorhanden, die Toiletten sind trotz vielen Gästen sehr sauber und das Feuerwerk vom Restaurant war mit 15 Minuten sehr gut.

Grundsätzlich ein typisches „all you can eat“ restaurant. Essen aber sehr lecker und alles sauber. Nur um eine Bedienung muss man sich sehr lange umschauen. Könnte etwas mehr Personal sein. Ansonsten waren wir zufrieden. Preis/Leistung stimmt.

Es gab leider nur Buffet. Wurde uns unfreundlich vor Ort mitgeteilt. Die Speisen des Buffet waren alle nur lauwarm und man kam mit dem Nachfüllen der Gerichte nicht hinterher.

Wir waren das erste Mal im Great Wok. Top Atmosphäre. Top Speisenauswahl. Waren rundum zufrieden. Schon alleine die Atmosphäre ist mind. eine Klasse besser als das Restaurant in TR Nord. Wir werden wiederkommen.

Für gewöhnlich am Wochenende viel los, jedoch bietet das Restaurant wirklich außerordentlich viel Platz! Wir hatten Freitags um 20 Uhr einen Tisch, Prime Time. Platz genug, alles super. Jedoch verlangte man den vollen Preis für Buffet, wobei kein Lachs, keine Ente, keine Teigtaschen und diverse andere Spezialitäten den ganzen Abend nicht mehr befüllt wurden. Wir haben einen Bruchteil des "Buffet" genießen dürfen, sind aber maßlos enttäuscht dass zur absoluten Hoch-Zeit einfach kein Essen mehr gefüllt wurde. Wir haben eingangs auch nur 1 Getränk bestellen können, danach war der Service mit aufräumen beschäftigt. Kein Essen & keine Getränke. Ich war maßlos enttäuscht. Für Gemüse zum Satt- Essen ist es doch zu teuer.. Schade, ich hab die Qualität wirklich gefeiert, damit ist es nun leider vorbei.

Wir waren heute Abend da. Die Teller waren dreckig und wir haben ein Stück Metall in den Nudeln gefunden.
