Restaurant Istria in Waging a.See

While visiting Lake Waginger See, we wanted to eat out. So we started searching for nearby restaurants on Google. Istria, Croatian cuisine. At first glance, the ambiance was nothing more than a beer garden with wooden tables and chairs without any decorations or anything like that. A second glance confirmed this. The ordering and delivery of the drinks and food were quick, and we barely had to wait. I doubt now whether spaghetti carbonara or various pizzas are typical for Croatia. However, the Croatian dishes were very thinly represented on just two pages. My meal was very simple and tasteless: pork stuffed with raw onions and mushrooms. My family's meal was also nothing special and very poorly seasoned. The price for three small children's portions, two regular adult portions, and five drinks...just under €90. All in all, not worth a second visit.

I've been to this restaurant several times now and I'm impressed every time. The food is truly outstanding – fresh, delicious, and prepared with love. The service is also super friendly and attentive. You immediately feel welcome and in good hands. The atmosphere is pleasant and cozy, perfect for a lovely evening with friends or family. I definitely recommend it – I'll be back!

The food selection is extensive and the prices are very reasonable. The food arrived very quickly, was very tasty, and the portions were excellent. We would definitely recommend it and would gladly come back!

I've been to a few Croatian restaurants and I've been to Croatia several times. The Istria restaurant is a little different but very good. If it takes time from the time you order until the food arrives on the table, then it's not a reason to complain that it's taking a long time, it's a confirmation that the food is freshly prepared. It tasted exactly the same and the great service gave us a great evening. We'll be back!

For the eighth year in a row, we were on holiday in Waging am See for two weeks and ate at Istria every day. As always we were very satisfied. As every year, the service was very attentive and super hospitable so that you feel absolutely comfortable here. If something was wrong, the problem was solved without any difficulty and to your complete satisfaction. Despite Corona, there are still good portions at reasonable prices and the food still tastes just as good as in previous years, especially the Cordon Bleu with delicious ham and lots of cheese, the Hawaiian pizza, the baked champions, the baked cauliflower, but also the Viennese Schnitzel, the Gorgonzola Schnitzel and the Lasagne Con Funghi are really recommended. A visit here is definitely worth it. We are really looking forward to eating here again in our regular restaurant on our next vacation. Kind regards from Leverkusen

August 24th The restaurant was very busy, so we had to wait about an hour for our food. The drinks were served quickly. The dishes served afterwards (Cevapcici and Pljeskavica) were very good and sufficient. The price-performance ratio is also right here.

Typical Croatian cuisine, but a bit chaotic: the wrong food was served several times at the neighboring table. Our food tasted wonderful, but unfortunately there is no Pils on tap. The grappa schnapps is also very tasty!

We had a meat platter for 2 people. After 50 minutes the food came. Small salad for 2 people. The meat was very dry. Too bad. We reported this to the waiter. He would pass it on.

Istria-Platte für eine Person, extra noch Krautsalat und Rotwein dazu...dann bin ich glücklich... denn das ist die BESTE ISTRIA-PLATTE und der beste Krautsalat ever. Also wir empfehlen das Essen unbedingt weiter. Der Service/Kellner ist auch sehr professionell. Das Lokal ist jetzt nicht ganz so gemütlich für unseren Gescmack aber das hindert uns definitiv nicht dort wirklich oft zu essen. 100% WEITEREMPFEHLUNG danke das es Euch gibt. LG Anschi mit Familie

Durchschnittlich gegessen, nur das selbst gebackene Brot war wirklich gut. Getränke nicht gekühlt, Pommes schlecht und der Reis nicht gut. Für uns nicht nochmal. Ach so, der Preis war allerdings okay.
