Delicious, good wine list, quick and pleasant service

The food did not taste good at all, had pasta with meat, everything was too greasy, the meat was wet from the fat and they were not friendly either and the full price was deducted, cheeky once and never again

Yes, good food. Good wine list.

I don't usually go to Chinese restaurants, but here I made an exception. The tea leaf duck was crispy and cooked to perfection, the rice was sticky as expected, and the sauce was slightly peppery. It was okay. It won't get a red Michelin star - nor does it want to. The attentive service staff - you can't complain. But that's not why I went there. For a restaurant like this, the wine list is fantastic. Almost all the names from Germany that belong on a high-class menu are there. France, Italy, and Spain are also well represented. Thankfully, the chef keeps the surcharges a bit low, so you don't leave the restaurant feeling rejected. I have rarely seen such a good wine list in Berlin. It includes a few rarities. So you don't have to go there for the Chinese dishes - you really have to go for the wine.

1st time visit today. The Wine Menu is very impressive. They have some great and rare Wine. The food was really good. I had the Won Ton Soup which was very tasty. The Beef was also pretty good. My Mom had the Duck. It was very crispy and the inside very soft and not dry. As a desert we split the fried banana with vanilla ice cream. Great service and very accommodating. I look forward to my next visit.

Best Chinese food in Berlin! And there's no better wine!

Unfortunately, I can't share the positive reviews. The dishes are relatively flavorless, so my wife and I left half of our chicken curry. The same goes for the dumplings. Everything was freshly prepared, and the quality is second to none. We paid over €60 for a starter, two main courses, a small Coke, and a small water. Of course, Klaus Wowereit was eating at the next table. Any small Chinese snack bar will probably tickle the palate more. We won't be coming back. We won't go to a Chinese restaurant just for a great wine list.

A bit more expensive than you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant (€21 for garlic beef), but the portions are generous and absolutely delicious. Very friendly and attentive service and a wine list I wasn't expecting. Tucked away on a side street near Kurfürstendamm / Adenauerplatz, right in the heart of Berlin's "West Chinatown" (Kantstraße). Impressive wine selection, from strong Rieslings from Germany to premium wines.

A somewhat pricey Chinese restaurant with excellent cuisine and a superbly extensive wine list. The prices are perfectly reasonable for the location. The portions are generous, and the menu also features more unusual dishes. Many dishes are Sichuan-style with authentic mala flavors! Friendly staff and a friendly atmosphere. We always enjoy coming here!

Very good food, friendly, fast service and good wines

The food is delicious and - as far as I can tell - authentic sichuan cuisine. Prices are on the higher end. 5 wontons in chili oil at €9,50, chicken with vegetables €20+ and veggie only dishes from €17. If they didn't have Asian art on the walls you could think it's an old German restaurant. So don't go there for ambience;) But it's well established with lots of regular guests. So better to make a reservation before. I would recommend going for lunch starting at €9. Then it's more value for money.

By far the best Chinese cuisine in Berlin.

The hot spot is a successful combination of Chinese cuisine (no glutamatchinese) and wine bar (but there is also draft beer). The service provides qualified advice on both (which I also need with wine). The usual prices in Berlin are charged for the wine, but what you get for it is completely proportional (Rhinelanders see it differently). Orient meets Occident, that is the working business idea. 'Crisp rice with beef' is a little event kitchen when served and our favorite. 'After the holiday, first go to the hot spot and then I'll be back home.' That's the kind of restaurant it is. And because I'm not the only one who appreciates all of this, reservations are recommended.

Im Gegensatz zu unserem Besuch vor 1,5 Jahren war es diesmal mehr als enttäuschend. Das Mittagsmenue war ungeniessbar, von der Soße ist mir schlecht geworden, das andere Gericht war trocken. Besonders auffallend war der unfreundliche Service, als ich 10 Min.auf meinen Gast wartete. Das wurde sehr unfreundlich kommentiert. Nein, viel zu teuer für das Gebotene Essen. Es gibt bessere Lokale. Ich werde dort nicht mehr hingehen.

Die guten Bewertungen ein absolutes Rätsel! Habe noch nie ein solches schlechte Essen in einem chinesischen Restaurant gegessen. Alle unsere drei Hauptgerichte haben nach absolut nichts(!!!) geschmeckt. Und alle drei Gerichte haben nur so getrieft vor Öl. Haben 70% des Essens stehen lassen, weil uns übel dabei wurde. Nicht, aber absolut nicht empfehlenswert!! Erst recht nicht zu diesen Preisen. Ein absoluter Reinfall!!!

After many years, I wanted to eat Peking duck again and found an article that recommended several restaurants, including the Hotpot restaurant. I then made a reservation and also pre-ordered the Peking duck as a menu for 3 people. Today was the day. There were 4 courses: A cold starter plate with spicy cabbage, spicy cucumbers and a lot more. Then there was the duck breast with its crispy skin as strips for small wraps with cucumber and leek strips and dark wheat sauces. Then came duck with vegetables and mushrooms and rice; we could choose the sauces for it beforehand. At the end, a fruit plate with pineapple, kiwi, oranges, etc. was served as a complement to baked banana balls. Everything was fresh and well seasoned, we were served very attentively and the dishes were explained. We felt very comfortable and would happily recommend the restaurant!

Possibly the best when list in Berlin. Generally very fair prices. (Excellent prices for premium German wines). Ask for Martin.

It's a shame, the wine list is great, but unfortunately the food was nothing. The dish with the two chilies was super sweet, not spicy at all. The service wasn't that nice either. Poor value for money.

A really great Chinese restaurant. The food cannot be faulted. Sometimes the waiters fiddle too much with the table in front of you, but that's part of it. Very friendly staff. With one of the best wine lists in all of Berlin. On Sunday evenings you can see the former foreign minister.

Food and service top! The ambience is a bit old-fashioned and there is not enough light. But I still enjoy eating there again and again!

The food was really very bad. Good reviews can't be real. The duck wasn't crispy and the vegetables weren't fresh either. The rice tastes like it was warmed up in the microwave the day before. Cheapest type of rice. Never again. The atmosphere inside is anything but inviting. The benches are also uncomfortable. There are really enough other good restaurants in Berlin, even at better prices. I absolutely cannot recommend it. We refrain from another visit.

This restaurant and the operators are not friendly. Especially not if you don't look German. We are Indian and wanted to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday with 11 people in this restaurant. We announced that we would have 4 children with us. It has never happened to me that we were treated so unfriendly despite having a reservation. We were given a table that was difficult to access. When we asked to occupy a separate area because of the 4 children, which was now available, we were rejected with the comment that we were welcome to go somewhere else. We then had to look for another restaurant in the area with our 90-year-old mother. We were never treated so badly. Therefore, for this restaurant, no matter how good the cuisine may be, 0 points for humanity and shame on you!

What we ordered met my expectations: fried vegetables were briefly tossed in a wok, more crispy and fresh than fried and soft. When it came to the chicken in curry sauce, there was no sign of any sauce and you searched in vain for the taste of curry.

Best Chinese restaurant in Berlin with an incredible wine list that is really more than fairly priced.

We really liked the combination of very authentic Chinese cuisine and the unusual Riesling selection. Price-wise perhaps slightly above average, but definitely not overpriced. You can definitely do it!

Delicious Chinese food, but not something that will be remembered for a long time. But in any case not standard German-Chinese cuisine. The wine list may actually be unique for a Chinese restaurant. So if you want to combine wine enjoyment and Chinese cuisine, the Hot Spot is a must. The service was rather unfriendly and not very attentive, even for a Chinese restaurant.

Well...the hot spot has a reputation that it should live up to. Or? Unfortunately we were not able to have this experience. For most dishes, the same relatively coarsely and undifferentiatedly cut standard vegetable mixture was used, the sauces had no depth and everything was served somewhat blandly. It's a shame about the time. The furnishings, especially the toilets (really embarrassing), are very old and in need of renovation. I would have liked to have written something else. A pity. But Mr. Wu can look at his cookbook again and remember better times.

Good food and wine list is terrific with extremely fair prices. It's wonderful outside in summer and you can sit there for a long time. Service was good and Martin was particularly nice. Thank you for a great birthday evening!

We became aware of the restaurant through the n-tv online article. I think the food is in the middle of the pack. Service friendly and professional.

If you want to understand why the Chinese are so keen on pork, you should try the thin pork belly fried in salt (not for sensitive stomachs) - it is the signature dish of the house or the red braised lion heads. The latter pork balls impress in terms of taste with an incredible juiciness that makes you want more. There are also unusual things like jellyfish salad or the almost common seaweed salad, both of which only get their flavor from the dressing and should therefore be ignored. Very good wine selection, including the open ones, which has already been reported in detail by other reviewers. The service is quick and friendly. The prices are still reasonable. There’s no need to pay €2.5 for additional rice. A recommendation.

I have known the restaurant for many years. The food was always good that's why I like going there. Based on current experiences, the short report. The furnishings are not a feast for the eyes, this doesn't really bother me. However, the baked wontons were bad. Virtually no filling, lots of dough. That's not fun. The perception of the criticism expressed was annoying. Nobody took it seriously. Even the boss, after being informed and obviously disappointed, waved his hand in contempt. The fact is obviously known, but you don't want to be bothered by it. This is a new quality that you as a guest do not find pleasant. One wants a real perception of criticism. The boss's disdain for this speaks volumes. Otherwise the food was good, the wines were well sorted. Nevertheless, given these circumstances, you are considering going back again.

A really special restaurant. The style and the resulting atmosphere appear simple and meaningless. However, if you stop in, you get very good food and a wine list that is second to none. An insider tip, but it only applies to the food, the wine and the extremely friendly service.

We were coming off a long haul flight into Berlin and the concierge recommended this place for several reasons: one of few places open for dinner on Sunday evening, German Riesling pairings with their dishes and the service. It was fantastic on all counts.

POTTHOFF'S RESTAURANT REVIEW: CHINA RESTAURANT "HOT SPOT" Ideally located in Berlin Wilmersdorf on the KuDamm (near Adenauerplatz) at Eisenzahnstrasse 66, a manageable and cozy interior is inviting (at first glance), the impression of which is also apparent when you enter. Relaxing, not annoying, not cheesy and quietly pleasant music. The website is also extremely clear and friendly, so that the critic feels like coming in. In the appropriate normal price segment, we recommend a famous wonton soup as number 3 on the menu, which we have certainly all eaten at some point. A look at the photo immediately tells the critic that something is wrong here. In order to photograph it, he of course had to take out the spoon and lick it off, as usual with soup. He would have better refrained from doing that, because the wonton soup tasted just as strange as it looked visually. There was no mention in the menu that you were now getting something other than your usual normal wonton soup. Clear points of criticism: Not a real wonton soup, too spicy, the wontons themselves are barely there in terms of size. Not worth the price and completely overpriced. The next round towards the main course also turned out to be a visual and content-related disaster. If fresh ingredients are used in an Asian kitchen, the critic would like to see them presented that way on the plate. In terms of taste, the 13.90 euros (just like the other dishes) were not worth the money and completely overpriced. No. 46, a fried beef, was so tasteless that you can be grateful for the spicy wonton soup in advance, which has burned the palate so much that you no longer have to taste the drama that follows. The critic also came to this conclusion when he saw the even more pitiful looking fried wontons for an incredibly whopping 4.90! What was more filling was the price and the more than plentiful sauce, which as a guest makes you wonder whether it is also included in the calculation for other guests. Unfortunately, this is also a misstep in terms of menu content! Even with drinks and a total of over 47 euros, which was rounded up to 50 euros just out of politeness as a guest as part of the feeling of welcome, the whole thing was more of a food-related disaster, which is absolutely in a league of its own. If the restaurant ever closes, it will definitely not be a loss!

Wir waren hier wegen der außergewöhnlich guten Weinkarte, die unter Weinfreunden einen sehr guten Ruf hat und wurden angenehm überrascht. Das Essen und die Weine waren phantastisch, sehr zu empfehlen!

Gute chinesische Küche, Menu empfehlenswert

Das etwas in die Jahre gekommene Ambiente erzeugt auf den ersten Blick etwas Verwirrung. Bin ich hier wirklich richtig, ist dies wirklich das Restaurant, das vor einigen Jahren wegen der herausragenden Weinkarte prämiert wurde? Der zweite Eindruck versöhnt, aber richtig. Die Weinkarte ist in der Tat immer noch beeindruckend, das Essen ist durchweg gut und dabei im preislichen Rahmen. Es kommt kein Schickimicki Feeling auf, es kommt hier nicht auf den Auftritt an, dafür ist ausreichend Raum für Genuß und Gemütlichkeit.

Wirklich sehr schade! Esse dort seit Jahren Tofu nach gangbao-Art. Das war früher köstlich. Leider ist es seit einiger Zeit nur noch ganz leicht gewürzt und sehr mild. Die cashews sind nur schwer zu finden. Das hat sich auch nach der letzten Preiserhöhung nicht verbessert. Schade…

The waitress ask customers for tips ,and told us it’s mandatory. The point is: there is actually no service at all, why should we pay for things we never have? 总之，中国人请一定避雷这家餐厅，由内而外的坏，专坑同胞。

Köstlich authentisch chinesische Küche mit einer interessanten Weinkarte für Kenner und Liebhaber zu fair kalkulierten Preisen. Spannend auch sowohl Weiß als auch Rot zu den würzigen Speisen im Vergleich zu probieren. Phantastisch zubereitet waren die vegetarischen Gerichte, wie zB die süß sauren Gurken bei den Vorspeisen oder die grünen Bohnen mit Knoblauch die wir zu Gambas als zweiten Gang dazu bestellt haben. Wir haben die Ente in Teeblättern als Hauptgang gewählt. Umwerfend.

Nach mehrfachen China-Aufentahlten, habe ich mehr als genügend kulinarische Erfahrungen bei unseren fern-östlichen-Freunden gesammelt. Als ich in Önologie-Foren von Chinesischen Wein auf der Karte des Hot Spot erfahren habe, war ich natürlich begeistert. Nach sorgfältigem studieren der Karte, viel mir der Chadonnay von Château Nine Peaks ins Auge. Der Erwartungen waren natürlich riesig. Als ich den Wein bestellte, sorgte meine meine Wahl für großes Aufsehen sowohl bei der Belegschaft, als auch an benachbarten Tischen. Ein solches Aufsehen hatte ich nicht erwartet, aber jetzt musste sich der Wein beweisen! Orangenblüte, leichte Säure, wenig restsüße. Faires Fazit: der Wein braucht sich hinter seinen Europäischen Brüdern nicht zu verstecken, aber erreicht auch nicht die gleichen Höhen. Sonst schmückt sich diese Lokal mit einer der umfangreichsten Rieslingkarten Deutschlands; alleine schon deshalb einen Besuch wert. Das Essen war vorzüglich. Traditionell Chinesisch, das kann ich mit der Gewissheit eines Experten sagen. Meine Ente war leider etwas trocken. Aber da lasse ich gerne nachsehen walten, zumal der Service an Freundlichkeit und Fachkunde nicht zu übertreffen war. Gerne wieder!

Ich hab ein Tisch im Reserviert bereits 6 Wochen vorher bestellt. Es wurde mein Name und meine Handynummer notiert. Dann am 29.07.23 standen wir vor einem geschlossenem Restaurant. Das das Restaurant geschlossen war konnte man nirgendwo finden, noch auf der Homepage, noch bei Google Maps. Angerufen wurde ich auch nicht das, das Restaurant sich in Betriebsferien befindet. Einfach total schwach von der Reservierung. Kann es einfach nicht nachvollziehen. LG, Malte

Reis war eindeutige zu lange irgendwo gestanden, also nicht frisch. Sehr trocken und hart. Als ich die Kellnerin angesprochen habe, meinte sie zu mir: „zu Hause isst man weich, im Restaurant ist so. „ ich habe fast gelacht, weil die Ausrede zu schlecht war.

Der Restaurantbesitzer ist sehr unfreundlich oder besser frech.

Lieblingsrestaurant für chinesische Küche! Das ist hier jedes Mal köstlich, es gibt eine tolle Auswahl (teils traditioneller) chinesische Gerichte, man schmeckt die eigene, frische Zubereitung. Mein Favorit ist das Gongbao-Hühnchen! Die Weinkarte ist unerwartet und legendär für ein solches Lokal. Wer nicht genug von dem Essen bekommen kann, dem sei das Kochbuch sehr empfohlen: "Die China-Küche des Herrn Wu". Ich freue mich aufs nächste Mal. Guten Appetit! 好胃口

Mein Lieblingschinese. Solches Geschmackserlebnisse wie bei diesem Chinesen erlebt man sonst nirgendwo . Kein Glutamat und immer frisch . Super Service hier serviert die Familie noch selbst . Negative Rezensionen beruhen meines Erachtens nach nur auf einmalige Erlebnisse und spiegeln nicht das generelle Leistungsspektrum dieses Etablissements wider. Alles in einem der beste Chinese Berlins !

Immer wieder gerne. Das Essen ist großartig. Egal ob Gemüse, Fisch, Fleisch alles immer sehr gut zubereitet und abgeschmeckt. Weinkarte ist wirklich top. Grosse Auswahl, sehr gute Selection und auch viele tolle deutsche Weine. Die Preise für Flaschen gehen mehr als in Ordnung. Aufmerksamer und schneller Service.

Positiv, Gericht war schmackhaft. Negativ, Personal und / oder auch Geschäftsleitung? waren äußerst unfreundlich, unprofessionell. Teller wurden ausgehoben, während andere Gäste am Tisch noch gegessen haben. Ambiente uneinladend, die sanitären Anlagen nicht dem Preisniveau entsprechend. Bedienung verstand die Wünsche der Gäste schwer bzw. dachte wenig über die Erfüllung dieser nach.

Wir kehrten gegen 22h hier ein und mussten etwas uns gedulden bevor ein Tisch für uns 3 frei wurde. Der Service war gut und aufmerksam. Die Preise etwas über dem was wir gewillt waren auszugeben. So ass ich einen Bratreis mit Garnelen. Die Portion für 13.50€ war reichlich und geschmacklich abgerundet. Das Mineralwasser für 4.50€ etwas zu teuer.

Positiv ist die exzellente Weinauswahl zu erwähnen. Eine echte Schatzkammer. In dieser Breite und Tiefe wäre allerdings auch zu empfehlen, wenn das Personal oder Teile davon aussagekräftig wären zu diesen, teilweise sehr exklusiven Spitzenweinen. Das Essen hat mich enttäuscht. Mein Huhn Gong Bao und der Schweinebauch kamen teils süßlich und recht verkocht rüber. Das Huhn hätte scharf sein müssen, war aber süßsauer gewürzt. Schade, denn inzwischen findet man in Berlin eine gute Hand voll "echte" chinesische Restaurants mit sehr authentischer Küche und interessanten Geschmackserlebnissen. Das ist mir noch viel wichtiger, als die etwas altbackenene Ausstattung. Sie wäre eher witzig, wenn das Essen und der Service etwas interessanter wären. Mir lag das Essen eine ganze Weile schwer im Bauch leider.

Essen war nicht so gut, und bei der Beleuchtung könnte man es kaum erkennen.

Unser chinesisches Stammlokal für den Lunch! Service immer unaufgeregt und freundlich. Essen ist immer schmackhaft, reichlich und zum Lunch auch verhältnismäßig günstig. Empfehlung vom Menü ist Gong Bao!

Hot Spot ist einfach genial: Sehr gute Sichuan-Küche und eine legendäre Weinkarte, die auf große Rieslinge und große Bordeaux spezialisiert ist.

Ich gehe hier seit über 10 Jahren her und ich liebe den frischen Unterschied zu den ganzen anderen chinesischen Restaurants. Ein kleiner Familienbetrieb der seit Jahren immer frisches Essen auf den Tisch bringt. Kann man nur empfehlen.

Das Ambiente ist recht gemütlich, aber aus einer früheren Zeit. Der Service ist flink aber meist sachlich. Das Essen ist gut und bisweilen unerwartet. The food Is pretty good, nur It Lost flavour when you See the Expression of every waitress there, they are extremly unfriendly, arrogant and Not welcoming, so Bad....at one Point it was almost Like in an horror movie. Smile girls, Life Is beautiful and customers might come back, leave tour problems at Home pleased.

Vor allem die "sauer-scharfe Suppe" - eine eher kleine Portion für 5,50 Euro ist viel zu teuer! Die Portionen der Hauptgerichte sind zwar recht groß, aber geschmacklich einfach durchschnittlich und preislich eben auch darüber. Bemerkenswert ist die riesige Weinauswahl, die man allerdings auch ziemlich teuer erkaufen muss.
