Authentic, good food! Huge portions and absolutely delicious.

I used to like it, but our last experience was not good. There were so many food delivery orders it didn t feel like regular customers were appreciated or got proper service. Throughout our almost 3 hour stay in the restaurant there were constantly at least 3-6 delivery drivers with us waiting in the restaurants, sometimes standing right next to our table looking out of the window to check if their cars were obstructing traffic or ticketed and often brushing the back of our chairs walking past us. After the 30th delivery driver we stopped counting. There was the constant ringing of phones and notifications. The service in the restaurant prioritized getting the delivery food out on time and we waited for a long time. We only got our meat dishes when everything else had been finished and the food was a bit off. It was fine, but it was lacking the usual quality. To order drinks we had to go to the bar, there was no table service after our initial order and our initial order took a while, because they were busy with food deliveries. Add to that, absolutely no music to noise out the constant food delivery commotion. I am sorry to say, I am not sure I will come back.

If you are Asian Avoid this place. Plain tasteless , MSG foods.Price are cut throat

Very good restaurant, original Chinese cuisine, there are actually unusual dishes, friendly service, delicious food. Definitely recommended.

I ordered, one meal was missing, the rest was just steamed frozen food that you can buy in any Asian market, nothing fresh, nothing homemade, no sauces for the dim sum, the wonton soup was really the highlight, just warm water with wontons, the soup had the color. of flour, there were still two zucchini slices present, no salt, not even broth. All in all, a disaster for €35.80.

Very tasty Chinese food that felt authentic to me as a European. Absolutely recommended if you want to get closer to real Chinese cuisine.

very, very tasty food; it has a lot of taste, seems authentic chinese (although I've never been to China admittedly). The spice level is perfect, not overwhelming but not typical german bland by any means. Portions are very big, even though the prices are not super cheap you really get the feeling that you get your money's worth. They can also omit the meat in some dishes and it still tastes very good

Nice selection of dim sum and other dishes, most of them are meant to be shared. Some choices that are hard to get in other places. The flavors were a bit hit or miss, some dishes were a bit too bland, while others were too salty, but all in all it's a surprisingly authentic choice in a place where I would not have expected it. The tea is very nice! There's a sign that says - in Mandarin only- that there's dim sum brekkie from 11-16 during weekends, might be worth a try.

The attitude is bad. It is recommended not to come. The waiter's attitude is also bad. He is very reluctant to add more things. He is always weird and nagging.

I suppose it depends on the dish but my rice noodles with beef were very plain in taste and not worth the money. The duck was good tho

The weekend breakfast was so satisfying. I finally have a decent Chinese breakfast in Berlin. I hope they can maintain the quality! Dinner is also good, and ordering takeout is also very convenient, but the price is gradually getting higher.

Fast service, the service staff is very kind, Real Chinese food, spicy, is not like other Chinese restaurants, that's why I come to eat special dishes such as spicy fish, crispy pig ears in spicy sauce, slices of pork belly, soft with chili, grilled shrimp with sea spinach and garlic. Mmmm, all spicy and great! I will always come here.

We would have liked to try the food, it all looked very good and traditional. Unfortunately, we had something to do that evening and after more than half an hour of ordering, not even the starter (just a soup and a salad, which were probably already prepared in the kitchen and just had to be served on plates) showed up we happily pay the bill and leave. We asked the waitress to come over and she just said I would come to them in a moment. 15 minutes later she still wasn't with us, so we put the money for our drinks on the table and left. Since we wanted to eat something, we couldn't wait any longer. It was very busy that day and there were only 2 people serving, but new people were still being seated at improvised tables that came in the door, and delivery services were constantly coming in to pick up food, maybe you should set priorities. It's a real shame, the food looked really good.

The food itself was ok, my stepfather liked the taste of the chicken feet the next day, my food arrived cold and the sauce didn't go well with it either. At the beginning we ordered our starters and main courses at once and they arrived in exactly the same order. First my mother's starter came, after she was finished her main course came, then my stepfather's starter came and almost immediately after that his main course. My main course arrived last and was cold, great. So it came exactly in the order as ordered, but we told them what the starter and main course were. I've never experienced anything like that. If you don't bring starters at the same time, then at least before the next person gets their main course? And certainly not a starter and main course at the same time. Both get cold at the same time. It was generally rather cold in the restaurant.

Very authentic and tasted great. Price/performance is top. The ambience is just the same, but overall top notch.

We also went to the restaurant for the first time yesterday. We also found it very nice and the food was great. The restaurant is always busy, which is of course also a sign of quality.

We had the pork belly and duck platter which was quite disappointing. It felt like both were already old and not at all crispy, like a 燒肉 should be. The dumplings were good, but no different from the ones you get in the frozen section at Go Asia. The cucumber salad was good.

I made the order and unfortunately supposed to leave the place due to unfriendly and rude men. 6.01. 16:00 actions should be considered

Cantonese style Chinese food in humongous portions! Come here if you’re hungry and ready to try a lot of things. The flavours were very umami forward, really big and tasty, and some decent spice in dishes like the duck. Spare ribs were so flavourful, if not a little small. But very delicious all the same. Prices were democratic for what you get and the service was efficient, very friendly, and welcoming, even as we waltzed in at 22:00. Bring a group and get everything!

The service attitude is extremely poor. I thought that only dine-in service was slow, but I didn’t expect that we would not dine in. I ordered takeout in advance and picked it up. The price was wrong. After waiting for a long time, the takeout was cold on the table and I didn’t give it to my hand. I paid for it. When I walked out with takeout, I was caught wearing clothes and asked for money again. The short male store manager (waiter) wearing glasses and not speaking Mandarin well was told that the payment had been made and he didn't say sorry. Even in Germany, you should have the most basic service attitude. This is the least recommended Chinese restaurant in Berlin.

I have lived in Hong Kong and Guangdong and Guangxi for a long time, but I didn’t expect to eat the most delicious custard buns in Berlin. It has a balanced salty and sweet taste, with a quicksand texture. The sprinkle of coconut is also very thoughtful, but unexpectedly suitable. The weekend dim sum set is not to be missed, it is very affordable and cost-effective. The lady who took the order was kind and enthusiastic, thank you for the hospitality. Will definitely come again for tea~

Authentic traditional Chinese cuisine that impresses with delicious food and good value for money.

The food was delicious and quite authentic... You had the feeling of sitting in a restaurant in Shanghai. The prices for a main course are between 16-22€. The positions are good. The staff is child-friendly

One of the best Chinese in Berlin with a very extensive menu and generous portions for a very good price, reservations are recommended.

I often enjoyed eating here, until one day there was a wire in my food - there was neither an apology nor a discount. I've avoided the restaurant for years and wanted to give it another chance - but the crispy duck served was more than disappointing! I will never visit this restaurant again.

Come for the authentic Chinese food, stay for the YMCA dance along with the other patrons. So much fun!

Food is okay, not the most authentic. Duck is dry, rice itself is good. Delivery took ages, extremely slow. Specifically asked restaurant to give chopsticks / cutlery for delivery yet nothing was provided.

One of the best authentic Chinese restaurants in the city, I have been frequenting this restaurant for 6 years and it never disappoints me, it is delicious! 100% recommended ;)

Food is good and very tasty, but prices are quite high.

This spot was a wonderful choice for an evening out, especially for my friend's birthday celebration! The whole experience was great, with friendly staff and a warm, inviting vibe. The menu had a delicious variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and everything we tried was fantastic — full of flavor and clearly made with care. The atmosphere itself was cozy and added to the enjoyment of the evening. Highly recommend for a relaxed and tasty night out with friends or family!

Wanted to get some Peking duck in a relaxed no frills environment! Got it and loved it! Service was very friendly and food & drinks were served promptly. Peking Duck set meal including desserts (sesame mochi balls with anko filling) was 48€ and you can pay by card 😎.

Amazingly authentic Chinese food. Service is a bit slow when busy, but always friendly. Atmosphere is also like in a Chinese restaurant in China, not fancy, but authentic. All in all very authentic Chinese experience and great food. Unfortunately the boss has sometimes bad mood and is quite unfriendly. The lady boss is always friendly, though.

This was back in October 2022, my parents and I ordered the 8 course menu. After 80 minutes, they only had brought dumplings and cucumber salad. Wolt drivers continued to be coming to the restaurant, although it was clear the staff could not keep up with the demand! I complained, but was dismissed by gesture, they did not even offer an apology for the delay! The last straw was that people who arrived later were being served ahead of us! I asked why they are being served first and he replied, these are ‘andere Leute’!!! We decided to leave and only pay for what we consumed, but the owner decided to call the police. I also called them and waited. Suddenly, 3 more plates appeared on our table during the wait! The police officers were very professional and even apologized to us for the bad experience. We only paid for drinks and the two plates and we left. The owner did not offer a single apology, he only seemed defeated. My father died a few weeks later, so thanks for ruining one of the last nights out ever with him!

I ate here years ago and I think it used to be better. The soup dumplings were not very juicy, The Kung Pao chicken was generous but the mildest I've ever had. Almost no chillies, really weak hints of Sichuan peppercorns and doesn't look at all like in the menu. It wasn't bad but definitely not a place to come back to

Laoxiang is definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants in Berlin. We came for their Sunday brunch deal; 16€ per person for three dishes and free green tea. The food is authentic as you can get!! They are delicious and the portions are huge. I’d highly recommend to skip breakfast if you are planning to take the Sunday brunch deal. Pro tip: you must come early around 11 am to get a table, otherwise you’ll need to queue.

Ordered mapo tofu for 14€, says with “pork and chili sauce”, but WHERE IS HACKFLEISCH ?!?! Was only garlic and chili powder, not a single meat. Looks sooo different from the picture in the wolt app

Weekend brunch is great and of good value

Unfortunately, the food has deteriorated significantly. Lao Xiang must have a new chef, otherwise I can't explain the massive loss of quality. Unfortunately we don't live in the area so we haven't been there for a year. It used to be one of the most authentic and best restaurants for Chinese food in Berlin. Today the food is bland and carelessly prepared. Specialties like 皮蛋 are not even supermarket quality. That also explains why there wasn't a Chinese in the restaurant on a Saturday and I think it will be the last time for us too.

We chose to sit in the outdoor seating which turned out to be a mistake on our part as there was a lot of traffic outside. I recommend sitting indoors for a more enjoyable overall experience. The food was fantastic and you were full and satisfied.

The dim sum is really good, the rice rolls and chicken feet taste very authentic. But the stir-fried dishes are very average, and other Chinese restaurants in Berlin do better than them. So it’s better to come here and have some snacks... Dragon Boat Festival rice dumplings are 1 euro each and they are quite delicious~

Shao sold to five stars Four stars for the steamed shrimp dumplings (the skin is a bit rotten, but the filling is delicious) The dry-fried beef ho is given three stars (the noodles don’t feel right, the impression is that they should be thick and elastic. We are in Berlin for Leverkusen for the DFB Cup final at the weekend and are there for the original Cantonese food. On weekends from 11 a.m. there are three dim sums including breakfast tea for 16 euros. On Saturday afternoon we ordered three sets for me 😁 and a vegetarian dish with fried beans and eggplant 茄子干煸豆角. The rice dough with shrimp 鲜虾肠粉, crispy stink fruit dough 榴莲酥, ribs steamed with black beans 鼓豆蒸排骨, and vegetarian fried Maultaschen 素煎饺。 are particularly excellent. Since the food made us so happy, we went back for brunch on Sunday. This time we tried two sets as well as salty fried ribs 椒盐排骨, three kinds of meat platters 卤味三样拼盘, pork intestine stew 大肠干锅 and vegetarian tofu. For dim sum we chose steamed fried tofu skin rolls 蒸炸腐竹卷 and black pepper ribs 黑胡椒排骨 from the menu, among others. All are excellent. The employees are all friendly and relaxed, we felt comfortable both in the beautifully furnished interior and outside. We will definitely come by again when we are back in Berlin.

I ate there, thought the food was really good and the price-performance ratio was really good. There is a lot to choose from on the menu, from chicken, duck, fish, vegetarian everything. Service might not be what you're used to with friendly appearances and smiles, but I don't think that's meant in a bad way by the employees there. First of all, food was better and more authentic than in most German "Asian/Chinese" restaurants. I appreciate having original dishes rather than the German standard, which is mostly a mix of Viet, Thai, Japanese and Chinese, in a terrible qualitiy. However, I ate much better in other Chinese restaurants in Berlin and the food is still "Germanized" and nothing special. Which made the experience so bad is the service, starting at the moment we stepped into the restaurant and ended, with getting the bill. We were not greeted, only got a table assigned after actively asking for it and waiting for the menu for a couple of minutes. Doesn't sound too bad? The "waiter", who was a grumpy elderly guy who obviously hates every minute of his day, did not say a word to my wife or me, throwed the menu on our table and walked off. When taking the order, he asked my wife if she doesn't understand English (her English is probably better than his Mandarin) because of a misunderstanding and couldn't be bordered to even look at us. This elderly guy (was the oldest one by far of all waiter) should work in a fullfilment center without human interaction but not at all in a job where he has to communicate to any other people. We could notice the same rude behaviour from him to other tables. When trying to pay, we were asking several waiters for the bill and had to wait 10 minutes + for it. For the first time ever I was actually considering leaving without paying. Were we rude at any time? Not at all. We came in joyful, expecting great food and at least an "OK" service. However, non of this happened and the "service" was worse than going to any German authority (if you have dealt with them, you'd know how terrible the service is). After spending a long time in China, HK and also Taiwan, I would say I can tell what is an original dish and what is not. Indeed, Laoxiang does do an OK job but you will find much better places in Berlin (check out "Good Friends"). Which "stands out" at this place is the extremely terrible and rude service (especially the elderly guy, who even seemed to be in charge) and therefore, I would recommend to anyone to avoid this place at all cost.

First of all, the service staff hardly speaks German, let alone English. When we had to wait over half an hour for the food, it was brought by a very rude waiter. We then wanted to take the leftovers (which were a lot) with us. Then he placed the cardboard bowls, including lids and bags, on the table without saying a word! I have never experienced something like that. It doesn't work at all! The food was good, but they still have to learn what service is. Therefore: We will NOT be coming back!

Very very tasty food. A huge selection. Unusual, but the menu is illustrated. There's something about it and it helps when choosing dishes. The size of the food is difficult to see. Are sufficient. In any case, one main course is enough for around €15. Rice is served with it. The cucumber salad is awesome. We'd love to come back. Unfortunately a bit loud in the room at the main time. But it is bearable.

Hygiene not present. Just disgusting. Checked by the Pankow district office. This year there were only nine points out of 80. Last year only 1. Anyone who eats here is putting their health at risk.

edit: 2024. the worst peking duck i’ve had the misfortune to have. Went for my birthday dinner, after having eaten here a couple times and upon the new year Chinese restaurant recommendations of a IG food blogger. The pancakes were tortilla bread cut into triangles (like the the supermarket kind)! The duck tasted like just regular fried duck (Chinese german style?) and served chopped into pieces with all the bones rather than served the traditional way with crispy skin and with bones removed for ease of wrapping in thin round pancakes. how are you supposed to wrap duck bones in a pancake? It felt insulting to be served these dishes ( but most Westerners have nothing to compare it to) and also disappointing for a birthday dinner. The food doesn’t match the enticing pictures in the menu. The crispy roast pork and CHAR SIU (CHINESE BBQ PORK) was equally disappointing. German roast pork belly would have been better. I guess i’m just used a much higher standard from average casual eateries (not even upmarket restaurants) in both china and australia. the sichuan boiled beef was terrible compared to what i’m used to. The special fried rice was very bland (and i love my fried rice!) Maybe their dim sum is better. The radish cake was tasty. They didn’t have the egg tarts on the night. For what it’s worth i had great peeking duck in Madrid at an affordable price...so i know it’s possible in europe. I just can’t afford to keep trying places in Berlin. 2022: Nice find! The chilli fish oil pot is great and the rice dough rolls are genuine (actually fresh and not frozen packages from the Asian supermarket- which always makes me suspicious of Berlin restaurants when the dim sum is available at Go Asia). Looking forward to trying more. The dine-in menu is much more extensive than the delivery options on wolt. If eating-in they have a lunch deal. The eggplant with meat was also great. Surprisingly good for Berlin! Oh and the congee was a generous portion unlike a nearby place also reviewed. It’s not cheap, but I don’t feel ripped off, because there are more expensive places with smaller portions.

Directly near Prenzlauer Allee S train station, so it's easy to get there. Food is really awesome. Something completely different and probably much more authentic than many other restaurants with Chinese dishes. Prices great, also lots of choice of vegetarian dishes. Clean and tidy, service top. A fantastic restaurant serving authentic Chinese cuisine, mostly frequented by the local Chinese community. All dishes are described in English and are reasonably priced. Amazing breakfast dishes. A bit basic in terms of interior design, but the food is fantastic.

Two people ordered 6 snacks and a pot of black tea, which was a bit filling! All dim sums are well seasoned The fish ball soup warms the stomach at the beginning. The fish balls are very solid and delicate. The light onion and ginger flavor is paired with the bean sprouts and cabbage soup. The barbecued pork rice roll is also good. The barbecued pork is on the thin side but not greasy. Durian cake is super crispy! Eat it while it's hot and you'll have a big mouthful of durian meat puree. Three classic meat dishes: Steamed Pork Ribs, Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce, and Black Pepper Beef Ribs. The meat is very tender and fall off the bone. I like the seasoning of the latter two! I found that there is also a weekday lunch special price of 9.9, you can order soup/spring rolls + a dish (sweet and sour pork, Kung Pao chicken, etc.) I will try it next time Discounts are available for cash payments

Das Hühnchen mit Cashews macht satt, den Punkt gebe ich. Spaß macht das aber nicht. Gib mir doch lieber die Hälfte an Hühnchenfleisch und nimm dafür welches von besserer Qualität und nicht dieses Quietscheentchen-Fleisch. Das schmeckt wie Mikrowellenkost. Ganz schlimm. Wenn man dasselbe Gericht mit Tofu bestellt, tagt es. Die Soße plus Cashews plus Reis sind ne gute Kombi. Das Huhn hat einfach nur gelitten.

Beef short ribs had almost no meat on them, just cartilage and bones and were far too expensive for that. Soupdumplings had no soup in them. But the shrimp dumplings wrapped in rice batter were exceptionally good!

I find this place very nice with very kind staff that are very welcoming. The food is absolutely great and is very authentic chinese food. I've been to a lot of chinese resturants here in Berlin and I've got o admit, this is definitely one of the best here.

Tolles Restaurant mit authentischer chinesischer Küche. Der Service war aufmerksam und schnell. Kulinarisch ein Hochgenuss. Das Ambiente ist zweckmäßig, und somit läuft der Laden auch nicht Gefahr zum Hipster Hochspot zu werden. ;)
