Ich war schon lange nicht mehr so entzückt, beeindruckt und begeistert auf einmal!!! Es ist ein zauberschönes Ambiente, SEEEEEHR freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal, das Essen war regional schmackhaft zubereitet!!! Wir sind sehr begeistert und kommen wieder !!! Glückwunsch zu einem solch gelungen Bewirtschaftungskonzept!! Toll!!!!

Wollten nur eine Kleinigkeit essen, und bekamen perfekte Burger 👍

Wir waren im Restaurant "Grünes Tor" essen und sind rundum begeistert. Die Atmosphäre in diesem urigen, scheinbar alten Restaurant ist unglaublich gemütlich und einladend – man fühlt sich direkt wohl. Das Essen war einfach hervorragend: echte Thüringer Klöße, die besten, die ich je gegessen habe – dazu wunderbarer Rotkohl und ein unglaublich leckerer Wildgulasch, den ich wirklich jedem empfehlen kann. Auch das karamellisierte Bier war etwas ganz Besonderes. Ein großes Dankeschön auch an den Service: Wir kamen an einem Samstagabend zu viert, zunächst war kein Tisch frei und uns wurden Plätze am Tresen / Barhocker angeboten. Da wir aber teilweise gesundheitlich eingeschränkt sind und dort nicht sitzen konnten, wurde uns nach kurzer Wartezeit von etwa 15 Minuten doch noch ein Tisch ermöglicht. Das war sehr aufmerksam und hat uns sehr gefreut. Wir hatten den Tipp von einem echten Schmalkalder – und wurden definitiv nicht enttäuscht!

Der Service war sehr freundlich, das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt, es war ein perfekter Abend!

Rippchen-Tag am Mittwoch: absolut empfehlenswert! 👍 Das Essen war super lecker, die Portionen großzügig und der Preis fair. Dazu gab es eine schöne Bierauswahl. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Top Location mit einladenden Flair & spannenden zu Schmalkalden passenden Konzept. Hervorragende Küche mit einer super Auswahl an Gerichten, vor allem die Bierkarte sticht ultra positiv hevor. Kleines Verbesserungspotential ist der Service, hier würde es gut tun aufgrund des verwinkelten Gebäudes eine Regelrunde einzuführen, damit niemand vergessen wird.

Sehr sehr leckeres Essen und das Ambiente ist wirklich genial! Reservieren ist ein Muss! Bei meinem letzten Besuch haben wir leider nach dem Bestellen 1 Stunde auf unser Essen gewartet und ein Essen wurde vergessen. Es war ein Feiertag und ich vermute das sie unterbesetzt waren. Die Bedienung war mega freundlich und hat beim Nachtisch selbst "Hand angelegt" damit wir überhaupt noch etwas bekommen. Die junge Dame war sehr nett. Da die Rechnung sehr lange gedauert hat, haben wir einen Schnaps bekommen. Hier passt das Preis Leistungsverhältnis definitiv noch! Und das Ambiente ist einfach genial! Sehr zu empfehlen.

A truly unique atmosphere. Even though the restaurant was packed on a Saturday evening and we snagged the last seats, it was pleasantly quiet. The staff was super friendly, and we didn't have to wait long for our orders. The food and dessert were delicious!

I dined there twice while on vacation. Although the restaurant was almost fully booked, I was able to get a seat in the rustic and cozy atmosphere (reservations are recommended). The restaurant is very cozy, and I received a very warm welcome from the staff. The service is very friendly and accommodating. In addition to a great selection of draft beers, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Thuringian dumplings with roasted venison or the excellent Thuringian roast beef with fried potatoes. Great restaurant!

We were there yesterday for dinner, the atmosphere alone was amazing, we sat in the grotto it was just awesome, the food was very tasty, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, so I can only recommend it 👍 and would go back anytime

We were only able to sit outside because we hadn't registered and the entire restaurant was booked for a golden wedding anniversary, but we were happy to get a table. The food (roulade, or rather, venison goulash with red cabbage and dumplings) was absolutely outstanding! The service was also very friendly.

The ambiance was truly fascinating. The food: The Thuringian roulade and the Thuringian roast beef were excellent. We often enjoy traditional German food. This meal was right up there with the best.

We chose this establishment because of our wedding anniversary and our vacation nearby. We were very pleasantly surprised, especially by the ambiance. The food was delicious and well-prepared, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Positive: Credit card payments are accepted. The restrooms are very clean.

I'd happily give it 10 stars for ambiance! It's impossible to describe, or (at least I can't) capture in photos. Simply quaint and with great attention to detail. The food was good and plentiful, real food like your mom used to make. Unfortunately, my roulade was so drowned in sauce that you couldn't taste anything else, and not all the beers on the enormously long menu were available (of course, the ones I would have loved to try). Nevertheless: definitely worth a visit!

The ambience is great when you come in. Very quaint and rustic. Now the weather was nice and unfortunately we sat down in the back “beer garden”. Unfortunately, that's where the beautiful ambience ends. It was all made with love but there wasn't enough for the beer garden. Very unfortunate. But maybe there are plans to redesign it. The staff was quick and friendly. Evaluating food is not always easy, it's all a matter of taste. It just didn't blow us away. We thought it was okay...but nothing more. One more small note. There is an extra menu for over 30 types of beer. Unfortunately there was only one non-alcoholic beer.

The ambience just can't be beat! So beautifully decorated, I feel very comfortable every time. The food is super delicious! Rib day on Wednesday is highly recommended. I also think the large beer menu is great, because you can try something different than always the same types of beer. The service is also super friendly. The three of us had a very nice evening on Friday. The food was the best in a long time. We had roulade, pork cheeks and my colleague's salad was gigantic. A big compliment to the kitchen. We sat in a beautiful, tastefully decorated extra room with four small tables. The service was very enthusiastic and friendly. We would like to thank the entire team and will come back soon.

We went there today for Christmas dinner with the family. The food and ambience were really good. But I would have liked a few things differently: firstly, that you would be informed in advance when making the reservation that it is only valid for 2 hours. Mind you, from the time of reservation. When we wanted to look for dessert, we were informed that it wouldn't be available today because of Christmas. In my opinion, this should have been mentioned when making the reservation. And then 30 minutes before the end of the 2 hours the waitress came and said that she would like to settle the bill now that she was about to get off work. We would all have liked to have had dessert and had something to drink. So it no longer felt like they wanted us as guests anymore. And last but not least, we would have liked to have had a changing option. Child seats are available, so it is assumed that these guests will be present. Then you should also offer options where the children don't have to have their diaper changed in public.

We were at the Grünes Tor restaurant in mid-June 2024. We had reserved a table in advance and unfortunately had to move it again. This was all possible without any problems. We found parking right in front of the door. A very friendly service employee greeted us immediately and accompanied us to our table. The selection of dishes offers dishes for both vegetarians and all meat lovers. In our opinion, the price ratio is very good and the drinks also offer a very good selection and are not overpriced. We liked it and had a great evening.

We came here to eat twice in a row. We are completely happy with this restaurant. The ambience is something special, you have to see it. There is still one point of criticism, Unfortunately the online menu is not up to date. This is a pity.

Order steak with asparagus. The steak was so tough you couldn't cut it let alone eat it. My wife had the same problem. But pay full price for a real steak. You cannot sell the steak we received as steak. In Really a shame about my money.

We were guests here in March Ambiance: You come into the restaurant through an inconspicuous corridor, through an inner courtyard. When you arrive at the restaurant you will find a counter and plenty of seating options. The look of the store itself was somewhere between a pub and a restaurant. I thought it was very good 5/5 Service: We were spoken to straight away when we entered, the staff were very attentive from ordering to paying. Unfortunately, the small salad that I had ordered as a starter was served as a side dish to the main course.5/5 Eat: The food was very good, I ordered and received a steak medium rare, the fried vegetables that came with it were still crunchy and colorful. A salad that was also freshly made and was good. I thought it was a shame that you had to order a small salad for a whopping 6.50 euros, which was just as big as a tea cup. There are also many types of beer to choose from and usually the glass that goes with it, which I thought was good.5/5 Conclusion: A nice pub, with good food and a large selection of beer. Clear recommendation.

Very nice atmosphere - even with an inner courtyard. The food was very tasty and you could try your way through 33 types of beer.

Architecturally reminiscent of Phantasialand and the background music of Wacken. By the way, it happens a lot in Schmalkalden, people seem to have a pretty high affinity for heavy metal here. None of this detracts from the comfort. And if so, the friendly and attentive service, the really fantastic food and the very fair price-performance ratio more than make up for any shortcomings. I stayed here three times during my stay at the hotel next door. One vegetarian, one hearty Thuringian and one locally farmed fish. Everything is great!

Unfortunately we were very disappointed yesterday, we waited 1 hour for a starter (soup) which then almost arrived. After 1:45 hours the main course arrived and the staff was completely overwhelmed. Other guests who arrived later had their food long before us. Information from the waitress, he can't influence who gets his food first, that means whoever shows up at 6:00 p.m. gets their food at 8:00 p.m. and whoever shows up at 7:00 p.m. gets their food at 7:30 p.m., hmmmm. We also found it poor that the staff was not very visible. The service was very poor, except for the bill, which came quickly, but we still had drinks on it that we hadn't consumed. Overall, not again. Ambience great!

Really great restaurant: rustic ambience in a vaulted cellar and fine Thuringian cuisine. But only for locals! Blonde and blue-eyed guests from other federal states and/or locals with a migrant background are unnecessarily placed in a bare, poorly heated side room and are only served carelessly.

I still know the facility from before, when it was still the Spiderfax, but now the pots, pans and records on the ceiling are missing 😊. But it is comfortably furnished with a few nice corners and niches where you can also spend time together. The service is very polite and concerned about the well-being of the guest. As far as the food is concerned, I give it a real 5 stars, where the selection on the menu says "something" doesn't mean that there's nothing on it that could be expanded to include a few dishes. The range of beers on offer is sure to suit everyone. Now comes a “but” unfortunately this restaurant is not for people with walking disabilities, it may be that a few places are accessible but unfortunately not all. There is also a nice bar to relax in. The restaurant is kept very clean. Conclusion This restaurant is really highly recommended, it's great fun to stay in it. I wish you many more guests

I have always liked the unusual, rustic and cozy atmosphere at the Grüner Tor as well as the friendly service. The only thing that would be desirable is an expansion of the plant-based offering, as there is a lot of meat on the menu and only one vegetarian dish. You won't find a proper vegan meal here. Otherwise, definitely one of the more interesting restaurant options in the area 😊

You sit very comfortably, e.g. B. like us in a romantic grotto. The service is very friendly. There are many types of beer and original, hearty Thuringian cuisine. Overall, highly recommended.

Essen war sehr lecker und das Ambiente sehr,sehr gemütlich.

Wir waren zu einem Geburtstag eingeladen. In dem sehr schön dekorierten Restaurant haben wir ein Separee für unsere Geburtstagsrunde erhalten. Wir fühlten uns von dem Personal des Restaurants gut umsorgt. Ich habe mich beim Essen für das Rote-Bete-Carpaccio und den Schweinebauch entschieden. Vielen Dank an den kreativen Koch, was er aus so "einfachen" Zutaten wie Schweinebauch,Sellerie und Rote Bete gezaubert hat. Der Schweinebauch war durch die Zubereitungsart so zart, das Sellerie Püree köstlich. Die dunkle, kräftige Soße mit den Seitlingen passte hervorragend dazu. Das Carpaccio wurde mit Feldsalat, leicht karamellisierten Walnüssen und Granatapfelkernen serviert. Das Essen war ein Genuss.

Zu unseren Jahrestagen und auch sonst das Restaurant unserer Wahl. Bisher war alles und jederzeit zur vollsten Zufriedenheit. Klare Empfehlung und einfach ein wunderschöner Ort.

außergewöhnliches schönes Restaurant mit Kellerfeeling und zu vielen Biersorten für einen Abend :) außerdem delikates Rumpsteak und sehr feine andere Speisen, lohnt sich!
