Restaurant Gesellenhaus in Mülheim an der Ruhr

Not exactly cheap, but it doesn't have to be. The food was excellent, the service top-notch. Very nice owner. Highly recommended.

Friendly and very attentive service. We were seated in a private room with nine people (our practice team). Comfortable chairs and bright rooms. The menu is well-stocked, and there were also daily specials. We unanimously found the salad dressing very tasty. The salad was super fresh. The main courses were delicious (the cordon bleu was large, but a bit dry), and the portion size was ample. Special requests were happily accommodated. The dessert was very tasty. We had walnut parfait and mango parfait... delicious! One drawback was the "dried cream"... the parfait didn't deserve it. 😉 They repeatedly asked if we wanted anything else. We haven't experienced such friendly and attentive service in a long time. We found the service particularly attentive when the waiter brought an ice pack to our colleague, who was using crutches because of her knee. A small gesture, with a big impact. We will definitely be back and will be happy to promote the Gesellenhaus!

We were guests at the Gesellenhaus today. The owner and her team are the kind of hosts you'd expect. Their warmth, combined with their expertise and sense of humor, made our stay a mini-vacation. Since it was Sunday, we had a set menu. The soup and the amisgöl were delicious. The pasta with shrimp and the rump steak were divine. I couldn't have made the fried potatoes any better. The salads were all fresh and crisp. The rooms were clean and elegantly furnished. The small, lovely garden was cozy. All in all, a very pleasant stay. We'd love to be guests again. It's great that you exist. Keep up the good work. Thank you. 👍👍👍

Delicious food and very friendly staff

Very good, home-style cooking. They also offer a "talking menu" with great additional dishes. The last two times we were able to sit outside in the lovely beer garden. Grandpa had cabbage rolls, my wife the fish platter, and I had the Wiener schnitzel. The service is excellent, and the food is delicious. We always enjoy coming back.

We made a reservation for 9 people at the Gesellenhaus. We needed to move on afterward and communicated this when making the reservation. We received a warm welcome and were able to order right away. The garden is very beautiful and cozy. The service was excellent and very attentive. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious and freshly prepared. Many thanks to the team at the Gesellenhaus for the excellent organization. We were able to leave on time. If we are ever in Mühlheim again, we would be happy to come back.

Yesterday, we were at the Gesellenhaus for the first time in a while and had a table in the garden. It was quiet, without any traffic noise, and very cozy. The service was very professional, pleasant, and very friendly. The young waitress was very pretty, very well-dressed, friendly, and had a very good figure. The food, predominantly German, was very good. The price-performance ratio was also very good. On the waiter's recommendation, we ordered, among other things, chanterelles. One was chanterelles without sauce with bread dumplings, and the other was chanterelles with a veal schnitzel and fried potatoes with bacon and onions. Everything was very well prepared and delicious. I was surprised that Mrs. Thomas was able to keep the price so reasonable for the dishes with so many chanterelles, as chanterelles of this quality are currently very expensive. The owner, Mrs. Thomas, runs this restaurant excellently and with a lot of passion. We will definitely be back.

Great food, got a table spontaneously, friendly staff

There were three of us, and we didn't have a table reservation/risked it! Since the weather was nice, most people were sitting outside, so we managed to get a table inside. The food was unbeatable again, simply fantastic. My roast beef with onions was perfect, and the fries were even better. The Gesellenhaus plate was super delicious, and so was the asparagus. The service—even in stressful situations—gets 6 out of 5 points; super friendly and attentive. We enjoy going there again and again.

The Easter menu offered a nice selection. The delicious amuse-bouche arrived promptly, as did the asparagus cream soup. Then we waited two hours for the main course! And we weren't the only ones. Discontent spread throughout the entire restaurant. The unprofessional way some complaints were handled is incomprehensible. Guests were shown their order slips with the exact time and the wait was debated, with everyone arguing about who was in the right. No one came to explain the wait or even say a word about it. The main course at the next table finally arrived at 3:30! The food was tasty, but there were mistakes there too. There was no vegetarian option on the menu. So, they promised an alternative: asparagus, Mediterranean vegetables, and potatoes. What arrived was asparagus, frozen mixed vegetables, and rösti. When ordering the other dishes, we received rösti instead of thyme potatoes. When comparing the three identical fish dishes, the enormous difference was striking! The size difference of the fish was huge... I only had a third of the fish the others had. The dessert was described as a "Dubai dessert" by the server at our table, but it was just a dollop of pistachio cream on the plate along with vanilla ice cream and fruit salad. Normally, they serve lunch until 3 pm. That didn't work at all yesterday. It was a shame for us as guests, as we had planned other things with our family for a lovely Easter afternoon. It would have been professional to have someone come to the tables and explain the long wait. One of the servers even went shopping in between, which was later explained by another employee... The restaurant really overreached itself that day. The quantity of guests shouldn't be the priority, or they should have staggered seating. It was truly unacceptable. However, I must say that we have been going to this restaurant for a long time and have always been satisfied until now. Very unfortunate and also unpleasant for our guests who we had invited for dinner.

We've been guests at the Gesellenhaus several times and always feel very comfortable there. The atmosphere is cozy, the food is always delicious, and the service is second to none in Mülheim! Attentive, friendly, and never at a loss for a joke. You can't help but enjoy your visit to the restaurant. The regular menu features good, home-style cooking, always supplemented by daily specials. There's also a bowling alley in the basement, though I can't comment on that. All in all, I can highly recommend the Gesellenhaus to everyone, and we'd love to come back!

The menu is really clear, which I actually think is a good thing, but the menu itself is disgusting and worn. If you're going for a clipboard version, please print it out every now and then! The service is really great and friendly.

Friendly, attentive service Our little dog wasn't forgotten either... they even gave him water, without asking. It was a wonderful evening to end the year. We'd love to come back soon. We received very friendly service and enjoyed an excellent meal. The goose breast was wonderful, and the accompanying side dishes were absolutely delicious. They were happy to serve extra sauce. We were able to order non-alcoholic sparkling wine as an aperitif, which is unfortunately rarely available in other restaurants.

I visited the restaurant alone and was greeted very friendly and professionally. Great! I actually felt as warmly welcomed as I have rarely experienced in a restaurant. In addition to the menu, the boss offered me some current dishes, which I was happy to take advantage of. My choice was the Königsberger dumplings with potatoes and a beetroot salad. Everything really, really good! It is neither cheap nor expensive. I would say that the prices are definitely reasonable for the quality delivered and the absolutely perfect service. I will definitely come back and would also like to bring friends with me.

Quaint inn with a bowling alley. Great prices for bowling. A little more upscale for the food but still fair. Food is delicious!

The staff were very kind and helpful, despite me not speaking German, and it was easy to translate the menu with my phone. I got the pork medallions in wild mushroom cream sauce, and wow. The pork was seared nicely on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. The sauce and the mushrooms complemented it perfectly.

We were in the journeyman's house again. We believe that this restaurant is looking for real opponents! It starts with the Amüsgöl. Always changing and extremely tasty. Unfortunately this is not available to go! The extensive menu is topped with plenty of additional, delicious dishes. And because this couldn't be enough, there is also a daily menu that is presented directly at the table (orally). Everything we have eaten there in the last few years has been absolutely top class!!! Everything freshly prepared and extremely delicious! OK... if it's very busy (like today) it may take a while, but that's not a bad thing as you'll be compensated by the food and service. Food and drinks are absolutely diverse, fresh and top class. About the service... An opponent is also being sought here... but he certainly cannot be found. The service is absolutely top class! Attentive, fast, reliable and positively funny! The journeyman’s house is our absolute recommendation!

We were in the Gesellenhaus on a Sunday and were very enthusiastic about the kitchen. Fried potatoes are the pinnacle, here they were prepared absolutely deliciously. The salads were made entirely from fresh lettuce, vegetables and fruit, and the dressing was really tasty. The service was quick, funny and so attentive! We felt very welcome and would love to come back.

Bodenständige Küche mit dem gewissen Etwas und vor allem frisch gekocht! Die Kartoffeln kommen zum Beispiel aus Oberhausen von Bauer Köster. Wir haben uns so willkommen gefühlt: der Service war schnell, witzig und kundenorientiert. Da kommen wir gern wieder. Haben gehört, dass es z.B. Ruhrpott-Leckofanni mit Rätseln gibt oder auch das legendäre Adventsingen. Wir können per Telefon reservieren. Macht weiter so!!

Good honest German food For a fair price!

We went to the Gesellenhaus for the first time last weekend. It's very rare to find a restaurant like this. Everything was perfect from the food, friendliness and service!!!! Definitely coming back. Many thanks to the whole team.

I finally went to the journeyman's house again with my friends for a long time. We were warmly welcomed and given very good advice about what the special meals of the day were. The waiters are super friendly and the owner also came to the table and asked if everything was OK. The meal was a starter and onion roast with cheese noodles DELICIOUS 😊👍🏻. Of course, dessert wasn't left behind either. A lovely evening with my friends and not a crumb was left. Thanks Peter.

We went for dinner after a day of work, excellent food and the even better deal, we repeat the next day. Totally recommended but best call to book, this is very busy. Car park nearby We go after a working day to finish, smell out and even better treatment that we put back next day. Absolutely recommended, but better arrive to book as it is very full. Hatten für 13 Uhr einen Tisch reserviert, was auch klappte. Unser Essen bekamen wir allerdings erst um 15:20 Uhr, da, laut Aussage des Kellners, plötzlich eine große Gruppe kann die Essen wollte und man hierdurch sichtlich überfordert war. Zuerst ging das Hirschgulasch aus, dann die Spätzle... Nachdem wir dann als Ersatz für die Spätzle Pommes wollten und dann Bandnudeln bekamen... Naja, was soll ich sagen? Das Essen ist durchschnittlich, was aber toll ist dass man, ohne es bestellt zu haben, eine Vorsupppe und ein kleines Dessert bekommt, was man sich jedoch nicht aussuchen kann. Das rettet das Ganze ein wenig

Eine Gaststätte geprägt von den älteren Menschen die dort speisen. Das Ambiente gefiel mir persönlich nicht so gut. Das Essen jedoch war wirklich toll ( Gänsekeule ) und jeden Cent wert.

Trotzdem Rollstuhl und Demenz Erkrankung sind wir immer herzlich willkommen geheißen worden. Essen super, Service top. Meine Mutter fühlt sich "gesehen" als Mensch. Das ist für sie sehr wichtig und so freuen wir uns weiterhin auf die Reibekuchen mit Lachs!

Hatten einen Tisch für 4PERSONEN reserviert. Getränke ok. Gerichte waren sehr schmackhaft. Nur nach der Vorspeise bis zum servieren der Hauptspeise vergingen fast 55minuten. Nach meinem Geschmack etwas zu lange. Sassen draussen im Biergarten der bis auf den letzten Platz gefüllt war.

Mit sehr freundlichen und unaufdringlichem Service empfangen und durchgehend auch weiter so bedient worden. Essen hat mir auch sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Riesling hat das Ganze noch abgerundet.

Jahrelang war ich nicht in der Mülheimer Altstadt - aber heute gab's ein Treffen im Gesellenhaus. Wir haben prima hinten im Garten gesessen und waren mit dem Essen und mit der netten Bedienung sehr zufrieden. Beim "Ambiente" ist ein bisschen die Zeit stehen geblieben, das ist aber sekundär.

Zum Gesellenhaus gehört ein umfassender Service, mit freundlichem, lockeren Empfang & aufmerksamen, unaufdringlichem Personal. Die Räumlichkeiten sind einladend, hell und freundlich gestaltet, alles ist sehr sauber. Es gibt einen Biergarten. Das Essen ist empfehlenswert, die Portionen sind u.a. groß genug zum satt werden. Es wurde eine frische Vorsuppe und ein süßer Nachtisch vom Haus gereicht. Es gab genügend Sitzplätze, keine Wartezeit. Das Essen wurde ebenfalls zeitnah gebracht. Die Preise sind angemessen, nicht zu teuer. (Etwa 20-30Euro pro Person). Wir waren mit 12 Personen dort, es gab keinerlei Beschwerden, alle waren sehr zufrieden. Allein das spricht schon sehr positiv für sich. Der Eingang ist behindertengerecht, es gibt sogar eine behindertengerechte "Seniorentoilette". Parkmöglichkeiten sind direkt neben dem Gesellenhaus.

Essen, Service und das schöne Ambiente im Garten wirklich perfekt, da würde ich gerne noch mehr Sterne vergeben. Das Vitello Tonnato war einfach genial.

Wir hatten einen schönen Abend mit sehr leckerem Essen und gutem Wein. Antipasti als Vorspeise sehr zu empfehlen und der Spargel war ausgezeichnet! Zum ersten Mal da und wie Stammgäste behandelt, das hat uns sehr überrascht und wir haben uns sehr gefreut. Das war bestimmt nicht der erste und letzte Besuch! Also gerne wieder… vielleicht mal zur Biergarten-Zeit 🙂

Wir waren zum 90.Geburtstag am Samstag bei euch hat uns sehr gut gefallen und Super lecker war es auch.ein Lob an die Küche und Personal

Fleisch zäh, faserig und schlecht gebraten. Argentinien Fleisch sollte gut marmoriert sein und nicht wie Suppenfleisch schmecken. Die einzige Empfehlung gilt der Leber. Die Rindfleischsuppe hat nach Brühwürfel geschmeckt und war sehr salzig. Beim letzten Besuch waren mind. 60 % der Muscheln leer.

Wir waren im Februar 2020 zum wiederholten male dort und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Essen war wieder ausgezeichnet und das Personal wie immer sehr aufmerksam und freundlich!!!

Bin mit einer größeren Gruppe zum 1 mal im Gesellenhaus eingekerkert und muss mich wirklich fragen: warum erst jetzt! Selten besser gegessen, bei tollem Service. Werde definitiv wieder kommen! Danke

Zum ersten Mal dort gewesen und überaus angenehm überrascht was hier die Küche und Service bietet. Die Speisen werden sehr appetitlich für Augen und Nase präsentiert, "Mann" isst mit großem Genuss. Alle unterschiedliche Speisen der Tischrunde waren sehr gut anzusehen und schmeckten den Besteller gut. Die Weine hier ein weisser (Grauburgunder aus Baden) sowie ein roter (Merlot) sehr gut. Ich jedenfalls war nicht das letzte Mal dort und werde, wenn ich in Mühlheim bin weider dort speisen!!

iWeihnachtsfeier mit unserem Frauenchor. Leider war das Personal oftmals etwas durcheinander. Die Speisen waren sehr schmackhaft. Es war nicht alles vorhanden, was in der Speisekarte aufgeführt war.

Unserer Meinung nach eines der besten Restaurants in Mülheim. Super freundliches Personal, exzellente Küche und angemessene Preise. Ein echtes Lop an alle dort, ich habe selten so gut gegessen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!!!

Bürgerlich im besten Sinn. Sehr freundlicher Service, zuverlässig gutes Essen, faire Preise. Ich bin mehrmals da gewesen, es war immer sehr gut.

Wir waren mit einer grösseren Gesellschaft dort. Als wir bestellen wollten hieß es, es gibt drei Gerichte zur Auswahl, nicht à la carte da sie noch eine andere Gesellschaft erwarteten. Es sei nur ein Koch da und der könne das nicht schaffen. Auf grossen Protest hin wurde dann noch Kalbsleber angeboten. So etwas müßte unbedingt vorher angekündigt werden, dann hätten wir ein anderes Restaurant gewählt. Später kommende Gäste durften nach Karte auswählen!! Ich wollte meinen runden Geburtstag in grösserer Runde dort feiern, davon sehe ich jetzt aber lieber ab.

Sehr freundlicher, persönlicher Service. Das Essen ist frisch, Salat mit hausgemachter Vinaigrette, liebevoll dekoriert. Kalbsleber auf den Punkt gebraten, ebenso ein sehr gutes Wiener Schnitzel. Das beste Essen auf unserer zehntägigen Radtour!
