As is often the case when you walk along the pedestrian zone, you find a rather inconspicuous sign in front of a gate that leads to the Electoral Palatinate Museum. You come to a spacious, green, park-like courtyard, away from the hustle and bustle of the street. Very nice staff and good cuisine.

Greetings from the couple that you didn't want as guests... you gave us that feeling with your arrogant manner. That's why we preferred to spend our money elsewhere and it ended up being a nice evening...

Bad service, you have to wait 30 minutes for the drinks. And the worst thing is 1 meal is simply forgotten AND not even an APOLOGY is said. NEVER AGAIN. DISASTER!!!

I spontaneously went to this restaurant with my wife and child on Friday afternoon. We wanted to have a leisurely lunch "away" from the busy pedestrian zone and just tried it out here. We immediately liked the outdoor ambience. What can you say? It was busy and we were lucky to get a free table for three people. The food was really EXCELLENT!!! Our order of pizza, salad and schnitzel was served in a reasonable time and we enjoyed it very much. The portion size was really good. We were more than full. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fine! I can warmly recommend this restaurant!

Pizza and Vongole Pasta are seasoned just right for Korean tastes. It's better than schnitzel.

The pizza margherita is not a pizza margherita and completely tasteless. Lasagne is too big and tasteless. When I didn't want to give a tip, waiter wanted more explanation after I already told him that the food was just not good. Don't be fooled by the beautiful terrace, better avoid this place.

As residents of this city or old town, the garden area of ​​the "Garibaldi" was always a pleasant place for us to have a coffee or cake. That is a thing of the past today. The cafe/restaurant opens at 11.30am. We sat down under one of the umbrellas set up at 11:45 a.m., expecting to be asked what we wanted. Although the Signore Cameriere was present within sight, he preferred to converse with two gentlemen. I went and asked if it was open or if there was no staff available. A little later he stood at our table and explained to us that we couldn't actually order coffee at that time because it was a restaurant here. (We were the only guests until then). For once we received our drinks. I won't reproduce the discussion and theatrics here. That was a NO GO, and in a week in which the German Tourism Association is calling for more hospitality. (Smile) Maybe Garibaldi is too full due to the huge amount of walk-in customers? Luckily, as Heidelbergers we find plenty of other places.

In this restaurant, everything is good except the food.

In addition to repeated rudeness and a double mistake in ordering, we also got an upset stomach from the seafood salad. The salad was not natural. And from canned food. The toilet is very dirty. Only the garden is good.

We ate well and sat well in fantastic weather! The service was very attentive and very friendly. We had dinner there three times, always very good quality. The food always came quickly and we never had to wait long.

The atmosphere was really nice, but you had to wait ages for the food and drinks. It was very busy but you also had the impression that the waiters were rather busy with themselves. We didn't finish the food because the pizza was like frozen.

Deplorable welcome and service. When the waitress finally deigned to come see us, there were 5 of us with 3 children, she put us at a table of 4 plus a chair even though there were tables of 6 free and the place was not full. We are waiting for the menus which do not come. She puts the cutlery back on another table close to us and still doesn't bring us the menus. And on the other hand, other people who arrived after us have the menus and this idiot takes their orders. We got up and left. When I see the other negative reviews, I can only congratulate myself on not having stayed. We were better received in a less pretentious pizzeria with much better service. I rarely get up to leave, but now it was no longer possible.

Great food, great service and nice ambience.

If the food was made by a 14-years old cook, that would be excellent. The pasta was al dente, but the sauce was overcooked and the ingredients poorly chosen. The waiter was incredibly rude for no reason at all (he was nicer with locals it seems) and it was impossible to drink or eat there without a swarm of wasps and flies with it. They take advantage of the fact that non-locals are attracted by the quiet, cosy location of the restaurant... well, forewarned is forearmed.

My wife had a side salad with her main course. How the salad dressing was prepared is a mystery to me. The salad really didn't taste like anything. The dressing made the pure salad worse. Some side salads were returned to the neighboring tables. The main courses were quite ok. My wheat was warm. Ambience really great.

We went inside and immediately received angry looks from the employees. They didn't help us with a table, we had to make our own plans. We had found a seat, waited about 15 minutes until they brought the menu and then another 10 minutes before they came to write down everything. We had to wait half an hour for our drinks. And it took us about an hour to eat our food. For that money you can find better and tasty restaurants. My lasagna just tasted like the store-bought one. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!! The staff is also unfriendly

I went to this restaurant for lunch with my girlfriend. Although the courtyard is very nice, we were still disappointed. For one thing, the wait for a pizza margarita and a portion of pasta was almost an hour, even though it wasn't too busy. The pizza was ok, unfortunately the pasta wasn't. Described as tagliatelle with chanterelles, shrimp and tomatoes, we ordered this dish, which costs €19.90, with great confidence. However, there was no sauce with the tagliatelle and they were also very oily. When I asked for a sauce, the waiter immediately refused. Rather unacceptable for the price, therefore only 2 stars.

I can't understand the bad reviews here. We had dinner there yesterday and were very satisfied. It took a while, but the restaurant was completely full. We were also informed right at the beginning that it might take a little longer today. We had three different pasta dishes and all were excellent. The service was super nice and very on the ball. Great praise for the service and cuisine. We will be back.

The restaurant was very busy and when we ordered we were told that food would be served in an hour. The dishes were well prepared, but the pasta dishes were bland in taste. The service was stressed but still friendly. Please pay more attention to the toilets, they were very dirty.

Spontaneous visit to the restaurant, hadn't looked at the reviews beforehand for a long time and just walked in as I walked past. When we arrived in the courtyard, the first waiter came towards us stressed with two plates in his arms and just called out to us: "UP!" ....he probably meant that we should kindly choose a free table in the upper area on our own ;-) After we changed seats again to sit closer to the rancid fountain, we ordered drinks and food straight away. The drinks came after about 20 minutes (no problem at 30°C :-)) The drinks were drunk after a short time and you constantly walked past the empty glasses without offering anything else. It would certainly have made our wait for the food of around 1 hour easier... Unfortunately, with the food (the friendly waitress gave us at least a brief update that it was almost ready) came the disillusionment. The pasta was completely overcooked and absolutely bland. Even a lot of salt didn't make it any better. Cooked carelessly. The Margherita pizza was okay. I complained about the pasta and it wasn't charged for either. All in all, an unfortunately very bad visit to the restaurant. Next time we'll look for reviews again, unfortunately anything else is a waste of money and time.

Very happy with our dinner I had: Insalata Garibaldi for 17.90 euros and my partner chose: Fritelle alla Erbe from Chiodini for 16.90 euros, absolutely great. The service was also great! We recommend.

My son got his spaghetti Bolognese quickly, unfortunately that was the only thing that was served quickly. The pasta wasn't served to my wife and me as quickly, but to the people sitting next to me it was the same as it was to us. The waiter said after we spoke to him that it would take five more minutes and even then they couldn't do it. We had to wait over an hour for our food. The food was delicious but not too delicious. The ambience is very nice, it even has a fountain, the toilets weren't nice and smelled. I write that for myself, my family and my very friendly table neighbors.

The pizza dough wasn't really my thing and the toppings could have been more, at least the ham.

Right at the start the announcement was made that food would take at least 1 hour. Then we were pushed onto the waiting bench because they didn't want to waste 4 tables with us. Waited 20 minutes and some tables became available. So far I haven't even been asked for a drink. I don't need to be treated like that.

Although we received a very friendly welcome, we quickly noticed the tense atmosphere between the waiters, which worsened as the evening progressed and gave us as guests a very unpleasant feeling. The beautiful location in the garden of the Kurpfälzisches Museum is the only thing we really liked here. There were problems at every table around us, which were caused by the waiters and which we also experienced. Be it problems with payment (note: apparently no card payment is possible and you have to follow the waiter to a nearby bank), there were problems with taking the order (long waiting time, entire table orders were mixed up) and as soon as the money came up the waiters unfriendly and greedy. After all, we didn't get a bill and apparently "fees" are charged per person. There is no prior notice of this. To eat: We had pizza and lasagne. The pizza was very dry and the base was way too hard. In terms of taste, it's below average. The price is definitely too high. Not worthy of an Italian. The lasagna was OK, but not particularly flavorful. Bottom line, not really good food. We felt quite uncomfortable right from the start, and this feeling grew stronger as the evening went on. You can really take the bad reviews here seriously, not worth a visit.

Hmm, what can you say... there are better restaurants, certainly in Heidelberg too. The location in the small park is really great, the waiting time for drinks is a bit borderline, waiting for the food was ok, the pizza was good. My request for payment was quickly met, but without an invoice. I was quoted an amount which I paid. It was only when I asked that I received an invoice, which was actually less than the amount I paid 🤔 It's a shame that they don't calculate correctly or is this an "intentional" scam.....?

We had lunch at the Garibaldi restaurant in Heidelberg this afternoon. Very nice garden, good food... Guests at the neighboring table complained (a hair??) - but the plate was actually almost empty! The service staff reacted quickly and friendly and also gave in to the guest's request that the whole meal not have to be paid for, "of course it will be canceled". We would love to eat there again!

The inner courtyard of the museum is a bit old but still invites you to linger. But not the restaurant. Since the staff obviously has no interest in the guests staying, I can't comment on the food. We received such an unfriendly welcome that we decided not to look elsewhere. Definitely not a recommendation in Heidelberg!

Fantastic ambience in bright sunshine :) Unfortunately, the wait for the food was very long (albeit announced), the waiter was nice but slow and his constant comments "I need to get off work" or "I don't feel like it anymore" didn't make me want to eat anymore... The pizzas were large and quite tasty... Value for money for food and drinks also ok.

The restaurant is located a little next to the main shopping street in a side street. The outside terrace is beautifully located and quiet. The service is friendly, but could be a little more attentive. This is probably due to the size of the terrace. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. When the weather is nice it is fantastic. Unfortunately I didn't see the inside of the restaurant.

The inner courtyard including the fountain is beautiful and very centrally located. We only had wine spritzers, which were ok. Unfortunately, the service staff was very rude and not exactly on their toes. A pity!

I can only confirm the bad reviews. An Italian restaurant should at least know bruchetta. But burnt bread with watery tomatoes without seasoning is an imposition. It's a shame, the atmosphere is very nice

Asparagus eaten with fresh salmon. Simply beautiful and at a reasonable price. Definitely recommended.

We went there with a group of 5 people without a reservation, so we had to wait a bit, that's normal. But the waiter kept making such funny jokes that we didn't even notice it took so long. He was super nice and super funny. The lasagna was great. We would love to go again.

We decided to stay despite bad reviews just because of the garden. The food is not good. They brought us a completely different beer than we ordered and after 30 mins of waiting and a reminder. We managed to choose and book a hotel during that time and have few calls. Staff is rude, eaiting time is endless. Sorry, but I would even say "worst ever".

As Heidelberg lovers, we always enjoy coming to this beautiful beer garden. Salads, pasta and pizzas are very tasty. A special highlight is our favorite waiter 'Abdul' 😉. With charm and wit, he makes every visit an experience.

We ended up at Garibaldi by chance and can only report positive things. We had Vitello Tonnato and Caprese as starters. Afterwards there were various pizzas and a lasagna. The food was very hot and simply delicious - brilliant pizza dough. The service was always friendly, and it certainly could have been quicker. But what the hell... the food made up for it all. Excellent! If I come to Heidelberg again, we will eat there again.

No recommendation for this restaurant! After visiting the Kurpfälzisches Museum, it made sense to go straight to this Italian restaurant. Does it belong to the city? The service staff were very helpful and friendly, but we had to wait over an hour for a salad! And a pancake with asparagus. The pancake was so poorly prepared. The few pieces of asparagus were swimming in a huge, fatty ready-made sauce. Please improve or remove it from the menu completely! Maybe the classic pizzas are better? What is unfortunately not acceptable at all are the run-down and unhygienic toilets. Is there never a hygiene check here? Unfortunately, no recommendation.

Great location right in the city center set back in a lovely garden. Acceptable price level, unfortunately our food was ready before the drinks (!) and then went back to the kitchen until it came to the table cold along with the drinks. Once everything was fixed, it still left a bad impression. Men's sanitary facilities are a disaster.

Very tasty and fresh Italian dishes without any frills. The portions are generous with moderate prices. The service was extremely nice and you sit very idyllicly in the inner courtyard of the Kurpfälzisches Museum with lots of greenery and the bubbling fountain.

The service was excellent! We decided to sit outside because the weather was so nice and they had a pretty courtyard with a small fountain. It was also nice to be away from the croded streets because Heidelberg on a Saturday is very busy. Our waiter was nice and quick to get us our drinks, and the food came out fast, too. We decided on pizza, which was a delicious thin crust pineapple and ham with a good amount of cheese, light sauce, and Italian seasoning.

The Garibaldi restaurant is very busy during the week and especially on weekends, so waiting times are unavoidable. The food is good and the service is friendly.

Only star for good Aperol. Waiting two hours for a pizza is a joke. After expressing my dissatisfaction, the waiter replied that it was a large restaurant, not McDonalds, and we would have to wait longer. Not to mention poor quality products. The only thing that was good was the pizza dough and Aperol. Of course, at the end I didn't receive a bill, only a note!

The waitresses, apart from one lady, were absolutely listless without trying to hide it. Wrong drink started things off, but the tortelloni con broccoli was shameful for Italian cuisine, incredibly bad and there was no amount of broccoli to be found. And the Scaloppine al Limone, the veal was greasy, the sauce was indefinable, 2 lemon slices squeezed with a spoon as a side dish, the tagliatelle was greasy and, like the rest on the plate, almost cold... I won't even mention the salad... we had We were really looking forward to this restaurant in the beautiful courtyard and have rarely been so disappointed. Apparently the business is driven by a lot of tourists who don't come anymore anyway.

A beautiful restaurant garden with many shady tables. The service was very nice and courteous. Our son had the veal schnitzel Vienna, which he enjoyed very much. My husband had the asparagus with boiled potatoes, although the potatoes were a bit small and the hollandaise sauce had a neutral taste. My Sizilia salad came nicely prepared and my request without onions was granted. Unfortunately there was no salad dressing or I couldn't find any in it. When I told the waitress, she said that if she took the salad back to the kitchen it would take a while It took a while until she brought it back because the kitchen was a bit overloaded. She offered to bring vinegar and oil so that I could prepare it myself. Whatever I did, it was still just ok, since other spices were missing. The table next to us had the same fate with the salad! For €15.90 I would expect the perfect slat sauce!!

The food was of the lowest level in terms of taste. The porcini mushrooms in the sauce had such an unpleasant taste that my partner didn't dare finish the dish. I had linguine with mussels. The dish had no taste of mussels, no sauce and the mussels had a dried and leathery consistency. A complaint was only acknowledged. No regrets or apologies, let alone discount. Completely overpriced food for this “quality”. Should have read similar reviews beforehand.
