I don't agree with the mixed reviews, the food is simple but effective and tasty if you order the dish of the day. The dishes are generous as are the flammenkuche. And in terms of service, the young man who looked after us was pleasant, smiling and quick.

For a poolside bite to eat it’s pretty good. Has curry wurst and fries, fries were great, curry sauce had a good kick. Service was good and convenient. The gentleman serving me, although they were busy, was very patient with me as my German is pretty terrible and the food came out hot and fast. Atmosphere was okay, it’s what you expect it to be. Overall it was pretty good for what it is.

Unfortunately, not quite what you'd expect as a guest... unfriendly and uninformed staff...

We had a small mixed salad yesterday for just under €9, and got two large leaves of lettuce, carelessly thrown together, plus a quartered tomato and a few slices of cucumber. With all due respect, even with inflation, etc., I won't be eating there again; I might as well throw my money out the window...

Edit: It almost seems like you're reading this! I asked for less meat and more vegan options, and boom! An additional vegan dish for fall, and currently no seasonal meat dishes. Great!

NEVER AGAIN! Staff very unfriendly. Food far too expensive and very bad. Absolutely unacceptable.

The coffee was still good. Friendly service, but the food was terrible. We were so looking forward to a currywurst with fries. (Everyone knows about good swimming pool curries, at least in Lower Saxony.) Instead of a decent currywurst, there were two small bratwursts, and they were cold, too. The fries were good. The other meals didn't look any better. We can't comment on the taste. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. But the service was quick and friendly.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the food and didn't feel comfortable there.

A cheap lunch menu is offered, with seating on the terrace outside the pool and inside.

The kitchen stands in stark contrast to the very modern and relaxing sauna area. The dishes served here are mainly hearty, home-style cooking. For me, a relaxing day in the sauna includes light meals like turkey, vegetables, rice, and homemade lemonade. You won't find any of that there.

The cappuccino and muffin were still OK. The potato soup seemed like it came out of a can and then briefly microwaved. The taste was abysmal. I added three packets of salt and two packets of pepper to make it somewhat edible. The young man behind the counter was clearly not into his job. At least, that's how he radiated it and acted, too.

I don't quite understand the current 2.6 stars; it's not that bad, but it's not particularly good either. The food is pretty bland. The currywurst with fries was a disaster, the daily special (meatloaf) was okay. The cakes and other items look industrial, but they don't taste bad. It's convenient that you pay with your wristband.

I've eaten there several times now, and each time I've been very satisfied. Good value for money, generous portions, always delicious, and the server is always in a good mood and comes to the table quickly. Great! The bad reviews surprise me.

We visited the restaurant again in 2025. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Food was good. Can be recommended again. So far the restaurant has actually been okay. After today's visit, I can no longer recommend the restaurant. The guests are ignored by the staff and not served. People would rather chat behind the counter and take a cigarette break than worry about the waiting guests. Service desert Germany.

We had lunch here after a visit to the thermal baths and then had coffee. The service was very friendly and quick, the food, coffee and cake were all tasty and delicious.

The whole thing looks more like a swimming pool snack bar than a restaurant that fits such a great thermal spa. Mediocre food, few fresh and light things that you would want after a sauna session and no cozy atmosphere.

Shocking incident at the bar Today, around 11 a.m., an unbelievable and disturbing incident occurred at the bar at Eugen Keidel Bad that shocked me to my core. When I wanted to order something as a guest, I was suddenly and without any warning threatened by a member of the bar staff with a cordless screwdriver. I was asked to put my hands up - behavior that was in no way acceptable and that left me terrified. At that moment I felt completely exposed and overwhelmed by the situation. My heart was racing, I felt sick, and I was in extreme shock. Due to the high level of stress, I was on the verge of a seizure and had to immediately resort to my medication to cope with the situation. As someone who is particularly sensitive in such situations, this incident left me deeply disturbed. I am now considering filing criminal charges against the person responsible. In my opinion, the incident represents not only a threat (§ 241 StGB), but also an attempted robbery (§ 249 StGB in conjunction with § 22 StGB). Such actions must be prosecuted to ensure that something like this does not happen again . In addition, I call on the management of the Eugen Keidel Bad to carefully examine the recordings of the surveillance cameras and to fully clarify the incident. I expect the person responsible to be held accountable. Such behavior must never be tolerated and measures must be taken to ensure guest safety in the future. This incident has deeply shaken my trust in this institution. I hope that you will live up to your responsibility and draw the necessary consequences. With disappointed greetings

€13.30 for this “currywurst” is a bit bold. When I asked what two currywursts meant, I was told it was just currywurst. That's all but not currywurst 😂 At least there was a large portion of fries and the "salad". Definitely the worst bratwurst with ketchup curry sauce that I have eaten and €13.30 for that borders on cheating. But nice service 😃..

Can't understand the criticism. It is a restaurant in a thermal bath and not a star restaurant. Weekly changing daily meals. It has always tasted very good so far. Never had anything to criticize.

I only read the reviews while we were waiting for our order. Everything that has already been written here has been confirmed. It was quite loud behind the counter and people were talking energetically. They were very friendly to us, but that was the only positive thing. We ordered schnitzel. Quality is underground. Some frozen schnitzels from Kaufland, Lidl and Co taste better, tasted like old fat, the fries were okay but couldn't save the dish alone. Salad was well, some carrot, some cabbage and a few leaves of green lettuce. We ate it because I didn't want the meat to be thrown away, but in the evening everyone had a little grumbling in their stomachs. For this price you can pay a little attention to the quality. Was the first and last time we were there. The coffee we ordered was good, but you can't go wrong by pressing the button. Clearly NOT a recommendation

Based on the previous reviews, I didn't want to stop by there, but I decided to go anyway and, to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. The team today was very friendly, everything went quickly and the currywurst was also reasonably priced and tasty. I really can't agree with the bad reviews. In comparison with other thermal spas in Germany, the price-performance ratio is good, the portions are large and the dishes (also on other plates) looked good. I would definitely eat here again.

Be sure to take your own food with you! Disappointingly bad food for the expensive prices. Deposit was no longer taken back because I came from the other side of the restaurant.

Unfortunately I saw the reviews late when I was already seated. Otherwise I would never have sat down here and eaten something with such a rating. I rarely write reviews, but in this case I would like to share my experience because I find the behavior of a particular employee at Restaurant Extra to be absolutely unacceptable. I've eaten there twice now and both times I was served in an extremely unfriendly manner by the same "lady". Yesterday was another very unpleasant experience. She constantly seems annoyed, speaks aggressively to the guests, shows little patience and keeps grimacing. What was particularly noticeable yesterday was that she even reprimanded a new, very friendly male employee in front of the guests while he was pouring us drinks. The young man was friendly and courteous - a real role model from whom she could learn a lot, especially when dealing with guests. As I read through the reviews, I realized that I wasn't the only one who had such negative experiences with this "lady". It's obviously a recurring problem. My conclusion: finally throw them out! If it is the tenant, Eugen Keidel Bad should seriously consider ending the lease. In any case, I will think carefully about whether I visit this restaurant or even the Eugen Keidel Bad again in the future.

Food was quick. Schnitzel was inedible, quality not good. Salad carelessly covered with ready-made sauce. The only thing that was good were the fries. Service tried hard and friendly. Won't be coming back

Food was good, prices too. Service could have been a bit friendlier. There are vegetarian dishes, nothing is vegan - then it was spaghetti with tomato sauce.

The waitresses talk to each other constantly and so loudly that they forget whether there are any guests waiting for them. The food is almost thrown on the table, and then they stand at the counter and talk loudly again for fifteen minutes.

The food is totally overpriced for the extremely poor quality! I doubt that anyone in the kitchen even knows how to cook?! Had a double currywurst today, incredibly thin and small white sausages only lukewarm, curry sauce thick and sticky. It's impertinent to offer something like that. We won't eat there anymore!!!

Cheater!!!! Before you put the bracelet on it, please look at what they have recorded!!! Today instead of a coffee and two pieces of cake we had a coke that we didn't even order and a cappuccino for €11.40!!!!!! billed! And not for the first time. I am complaining to the tax office, consumer protection center and the police.

The paella offered at the moonshine party was a watered down, slimy mess and completely inedible.

Absolutely substandard service. Just ordered two portions of fries. Standard portion, quality ok, price €5.30 per portion.🧐 Then self-service and when asked if you could have a small plate for ketchup and mayonnaise, the answer was cheeky and snippy, downright outrageous. They deserve my money, so you can expect a minimum level of friendliness. All in all a disaster and the restaurant casts a bad light on the thermal baths. The lease should be terminated immediately if you look at the other reviews. Pathetic!

Hello everyone, The food was okay for swimming pool standards, but a bit cold. (Where is the kitchen here??) The service would have been top if the service staff hadn't been alone. She was very friendly but had too much to do and so there were long waiting times. She had rushed and tried hard and, as I said, was also friendly but visibly overworked. The swimming pool itself was great again. We'll be happy to come back, but whether we'll visit the restaurant again while we're waiting remains to be seen. Because what does everyone want in the swimming pool or thermal spa? That's right, just a quick bite and not a long stay in the restaurant. SO maybe next time it will be your own bread and drink again. The reviews here on Google speak for themselves... Best regards

Food mediocre, but OK as a swimming pool restaurant. Unfortunately overpriced, the pager beeping to announce the orders are ready is just annoying. It really sounds from everywhere, and this is where the relaxation in the thermal bath ends.

Tried it several times - salad dressing very sour and probably ready-made sauce - containing sugar, awesome, a small green salad costs €8.90... Fries were very salty, spaghetti Bolognese at least had parsley on it, the menu for the large salad plate said roast beef, the meat on the plate was pork... . Etc...tried several times with different dishes - but now it's over-

If you follow a vegetarian diet you should bring something with you.

Une jeune fille pas du tout aimable, ne faisant aucun effort de compréhension sur notre commande. Nous nous retrouvons avec un plat qui n’était pas celui commandé et qui en plus, était infecte et immangeable. Nous avons également pris une tarte flambée qui était beaucoup trop salée. La vaisselle était très sale, c’est à se demander si elle est nettoyée entre chaque client… Je vous conseille fortement d’apporter de quoi vous nourrir, car ce restaurant gâche tout le plaisir et le bien-être attendu dans les bains thermales.

Essen passt, Preise passen auch. ABER ein absolutes No-Go, wenn man mir zweimal schon hintereinander noch ordentlich vor der eigentlichen Schließung der Küche sagt, dass es nix mehr gibt. Dadurch bin ich als Kunde verloren, ich lass mich eine Stunde vor Schluss nicht nochmal hungrig wegschicken. Der Pächter soll ruhig merken, dass das so nicht geht.

Ich kann die Kritik anderer nicht so ganz nachvollziehen. Ich komme oft zum entspannen ins Eugen Keidel Bad, um dann auch dort zu essen. Das Essen ist immer frisch zubereitet, gerade die Salate.Auch alle anderen Speisen sind absolut zu empfehlen.Das man ein Thermen Restaurant jetzt nicht mit einem 5* Luxus Restaurant verglichen werden kann ist ja Mal auch klar. Fazit von mir: Leckeres und preislich gutes Essen.Die Bedienungen sind stets freundlich. Das Angebot ist auch gut aufgestellt, es gibt genug Auswahl ( für ein Thermen Restaurant) Einziger Abzug, die Tische sind oft noch von den Vorgängern voll.Denke aus Personalmangel & Zeitgründen nicht immer machbar.

Für ein Thermenrestaurant ist das Extra sehr gut aufgestellt. Neben den Klassikern Schnitzel und Pommes gibt es frisch und üppig belegte Bauernbrote. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das Sushi-Angebot in Kooperation mit einem Freiburger Sushi-Restaurant. Das Sushi wird morgens frisch zubereitet und in To-Go-Boxen angeboten. Mal was anderes also 😊

Der große Salat war mega lecker!!! 😋 Frisches Brot 🍞 dazu, lecker. Bedienung nett und freundlich, schnell serviert. Komme gerne wieder. Sehr empfehlenswert 👍

Cafétéria sympa dans le complexe thermal. Personnel très avenant. Nourriture correcte. Choix correct mais manque de possibilités sans viande, sans porc.

Friendly service, good drinks with decent prices

Waren heute zum essen da, der Flammkuchen war zwar Tiefkühlware, hat aber ganz gut geschmeckt. Personal war teilweise ganz nett aber die etwas festere Frau mit braunen Haaren und Pferdeschwanz war sowas von unfreundlich. ich habe auf der Karte geschaut was ich essen wollte und sie fragte zuerst ganz normal was ich möchte. auf meine antwort dass ich noch kurz überlegen müsste kam dann nur ein schiefer blick und sie verrollte ihre augen und ich war nicht der einzige der das mitbekam. an jedem tisch hörte man nur wie unfreundlich das personal doch sei. Tun sie uns allen bitte einen Gefallen und schmeißen sie diese Frau raus.

Ich war dort vorhin essen und muss sagen, dass ich noch nie so einen guten Salat gegessen habe und die Servicekraft war auch sehr freundlich zu mir, ich komme gerne wieder.

Super Mitarbeiter und gutes essen, die Negativbewertungen sind für mich überhaupt nicht nachvollziehbar, wird wohl neid sein. Gruß Julian

Da ist ja jede Frittenbude besser.

Bei so herrlichem Wetter hätten wir eine Eis Karte erwartet. Es gab Eiscafé und drei Sorten offenes Eis. Haben wir dann bestellt. Eiskaffee war ja noch okay, offenes Eis eine Zumutung! Ging wieder zurück.

Das Essen war in Ordnung, wir haben Salatteller gegessen. Eine nette Kellnerin hat uns freundlicherweise gerettet, nachdem wir lange von dem lauten und frechen Herrn hinter der Theke total ignoriert wurden.

Bin Stammgast im KEIDEL saunabereich. Das Bad ist gut allerdings kann man das von der Gastronomie nicht behaupten. Qualität der Speisen Mittel bis okay . Der Service ist unterirdisch ! Muss man nicht haben .....

Sehr unfreundlicher Herr der uns bediente. Schon bevor er uns bediente fluchte er lautstark hinter dem Tresen vor sich hin, maulte uns dann extrem unverschämt an als wir unwissenderweise den Coin zu schnell auf das Lesegerät legten. Preise im gehobenen Segment. Bestimmt nie wieder.
