PURiNO Freiburg in Freiburg im Breisgau

The young man greeted us and asked if we really wanted to stay. The reason was that they were closing in 30 minutes. There were five tables left, one of which belonged to his friends, and he was occupied with them for the first 15 minutes while we waited to order. After 15 minutes, the drinks were ordered and quickly prepared, but unfortunately, they didn't arrive at the table immediately because the young man went back to his friends. After a total of 25 minutes, we had finished one beer and one gin and tonic, paid, and left. We were there for almost an hour, and I still don't understand why he greeted us like that.

If I could, I'd give zero stars, so let's start there. About a month ago, I met some friends at Purino for dinner – spoiler alert: never again! We started with the Gin Basil Smash and a spritzer. The former was so-so; they'd added syrup to the color, and it wasn't shaken properly. But the spritzer was where the fun ended. A half-empty glass arrived at my table (see picture). I asked if it could be topped up, which they did with a splash of water. The three of us ordered various appetizers. The bread was okay; it was probably delivered. I don't need to say anything about the focaccia, but I'll include a photo of what Purino's focaccia looks like in the wild, since they seem to have a problem with fluffiness. If you're looking for dessert, try the homemade garlic dip; the sweetness is comparable to a Turkish dessert. The only positive thing about our evening was the service. We were served and advised with a friendly smile.

The food was delicious and plentiful. The service was very friendly and quick. The ambiance was very pleasant. We would be happy to come back.

What a fantastic place to eat and drink! The staff is so incredibly friendly and attentive. The building is beautifully decorated, and you can feel the old industrial spirit the moment you walk in. The cocktails are delicious, as are the fresh pasta dishes. The one with the earthy sauce is highly recommended. Five stars, well deserved! Fantastic!

The bruschetta was very good. The mixed salad was unfortunately not worth mentioning, although the salad dressing was good. The pasta with vegetables was very disappointing. The vegetables were shredded and presented in a rather unimaginative way. I expected better. The lemonade (mint/lemon) was absolutely sensational, however.

We ordered pizza for pickup. Despite being picked up on time, the pizzas were cold and had very few toppings. Furthermore, they had absolutely nothing in common with a good Italian pizza, and they were also expensive!

Unfortunately, little attention is paid to its cleanliness. The cobwebs in the building have not been cleaned.

The ambiance and service were great. Unfortunately, the food wasn't so good. The cheese in the cacio e pepe was clumpy; it was either cooked for too long or had too little pasta water; perhaps add a little milk. The pizza dough was very flat; perhaps it didn't rise well; add a little yeast to the dough and make sure the water content is higher.

The ambiance, the service, and the quality of the food were top-notch. We had no complaints. Even though it was very busy, the wait times were very good. 👍 Service was attentive and prompt. Thanks again, we'll be back.

Worst pizza ever (no exaggeration). Waited 45min for take away and in the end I got COLD pizza, if you can even call it that... Most painfull fact is that they charged 16,80€...

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant. We're actually huge fans of the Purinos we know. We've been to Karlsruhe a lot, especially, and we're thrilled that there's now one in Freiburg. We've been to Purino Freiburg three times now. The first time, there were very long waits, even though the restaurant was almost empty; the second time, it was the same. The third time, we had children with us, and after half an hour, no one even came to take our drink orders; they simply ignored us. That was the last time we went there. Because the children were really hungry, we left and got something to eat elsewhere. Very, very sad, because for me, Purino actually stands for family friendliness. As a guest, you can tell that something isn't right here. The food was good, but some of it was burnt.

Hey, this Wednesday, SC Freiburg played against Basel, and my companion and I just wanted to get some good food somewhere. Four restaurants were full, so we went to Purino for the first time. The place was not quite half full, at 7 p.m. I know the atmosphere; I had a rehearsal space there with my band 18 years ago, and with its engine shed/hall, it's really very interesting and special. After we were kindly assigned a table, we had to wait over 20 minutes until a friendly server arrived. Later guests were served by other staff. Anyway, I was hungry, thirsty, and had a very nice companion. I ordered a pizza Piacere and a beer. That arrived soon, but unfortunately, it had nothing to do with the pictures of the delicious photo pizzas below (sorry, I didn't take a picture of mine): The dough was almost raw, not risen or baked, and pale. The four chicken strips with leaf spinach and four dollops of garlic yogurt didn't seem all that exciting either. Whatever: I bravely took a few bites, but the four chicken strips are the only good memories I have. You can't go wrong with that, and when the waitress asked if everything was okay, I pointed to the base, or rather, my plate. She said she'd let me know! My companion said it was too late for that... Anyway: I just ate the topping, and if it hadn't felt so heavy in my stomach later, and my second beer order hadn't been forgotten, I probably wouldn't have written anything here..., but I don't want to go there again either.

Delicious food and a great atmosphere – a visit to Purino Freiburg is worthwhile! We recently went to Purino in Freiburg with a large group of 17 people and had a wonderful evening. From the moment you enter the restaurant, you feel at home. The ambiance is simply fantastic and very tastefully decorated – modern, yet cozy at the same time. We were also impressed by the menu. It's very extensive and offers a great selection, so there's something for everyone. And most importantly: The food itself was incredibly delicious. No matter what we ordered, everyone was completely satisfied. The staff deserves special mention. The employees were consistently friendly and accommodating, and you could tell they enjoy their work. This makes the service even more pleasant. The only minor disappointment was the long wait for our food, which was over an hour. With so many people and a full restaurant, this is completely understandable, but it still felt like a while. But they did receive high praise: All 17 dishes were served almost at the same time, which is a true masterpiece for such a large group! All in all, it was a very successful visit, and we highly recommend Purino in Freiburg. The positives far outweigh the negatives. We'd love to come back!

We ate at Purino twice. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious – but the wait times are awful. With the restaurant at a low capacity (4 tables occupied inside, 3 outside), we waited over an hour for our food both times. That's obviously not ideal with children. We've already considered pre-ordering by phone next time :)

It was my first and last time there! The ravioli were cold and hard! You had to wait forever before even being asked what you wanted! I ordered a latte macchiato but got a cappuccino! It seemed like they didn't have any dessert! At the waiter's recommendation, we had pancakes. After 20 minutes, we asked where our food was, and they told us they were out of that dish! Never again.

The food was always 10/10. Service was always friendly and attentive. The ambiance wasn't bad, and the wait times were relatively short. I highly recommend it. 👍🏻

There were four of us there. Two had pizza, two had pasta. The young man who served us did a great job. I had a tiny piece of meat hidden in the rigatoni. I'd rather pay more and have a proper piece. Unfortunately, this piece was still very stringy. The rest of the food tasted good. The pizza had a very hard, thin crust. I've seen it differently at other good Italian restaurants. All in all, it was fine. Free parking right on site. I wouldn't go there just for the food anymore, though. What a shame...

The service was terrible. Not a very attentive stuff! And the food was not good. I had a cesear salad and it was not good, but a friend had pizza and she said it was ok but kind of average. But the decor and atmosphere was nice and unique.

Very tasty pizzas; the calzone with pasta and the burrata pizza were great. The drinks were also very good. Friendly staff. We'll be visiting the chain again in Cologne and Dortmund!

Great food and a beautiful location – unfortunately, the service wasn't up to par. Our waiter (a tall man with long hair) was very rude throughout the entire visit and seemed impatient with our group. We found it particularly inappropriate that he actively asked for a tip at the end – in my opinion, that doesn't belong in a restaurant like Purino.

Excellent restaurant with impeccable service in an incredible atmosphere. The food was freshly prepared, and I compliment the kitchen on its quality. There was a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected with fresh food, and you can easily pass the time chatting with your companion or enjoying the ambiance. The restaurant itself is mostly on the ground floor and therefore wheelchair accessible. The young staff is ambitious and does an excellent job! The prices aren't particularly cheap, but they're absolutely reasonable for the quality, portion sizes, and service. Thumbs up and highly recommended! Reservations are a must, though!

Impressive ambiance paired with delicious food. The service was also excellent, and the people were friendly. Only the parking situation was difficult; we had to walk 500 meters. We'll definitely be back, but by bike 😉

Absolutely DELICIOUS. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, but no, I just ate the Noce dip with wonderfully crispy, homemade bread and drank a revitalizing lemonade. Yeah, okay, when it's busy you have to wait a bit, but that was immediately forgotten when the excellent food hit my palate. A taste explosion. The service is very friendly and competent (and nice to look at 🤭). We ate outside, but inside it's also a feast for the eyes. If I could teleport, I'd eat there every day, but unfortunately, I was only there on vacation. I'll be back, just for you, Purino.

Great ambiance. But that was about it. Service was rather inattentive but friendly. Lunch menu: pasta pollo and mushrooms... apparently with a light white wine sauce. Unfortunately, everything was bland and tasteless. And in this context, poor value for money.

Very good food and a unique location. The only downside is that some of the staff (not unfriendly) take far too long, but everything takes far too long: ordering, paying, etc. Still, it's worth going there.

The ambiance is very nice, the staff is very friendly, but I found my pizza too bland despite the spicy salami... and the base is very thin, more like a tarte flambée dough... and the reservation was only for 8 p.m. on a Thursday, and when we arrived at 8 p.m., only a few seats were occupied... The capacity would have worked out for 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m., but unfortunately, it wasn't possible to book that way...

Honestly, the best you could say was that they made an effort. After an hour of waiting in a nearly empty restaurant, with no server appearing at our table in the meantime, we only received our main course after asking for it. The food was okay, the ambiance was okay, but in terms of customer experience, it was a solid "unsatisfactory."

Beautiful location, average experience Purino scores highly for its incredibly beautiful location in the Lokhalle (locomotive hall) – a real eye-catcher with a special flair. Unfortunately, this remains the highlight of the visit. The dishes are delicious, but don't expect any culinary surprises. Solid Italian cuisine that tastes good, but doesn't stick in your memory. The restaurant's prices are in the upper range – not necessarily justified by the quality of the food or drinks, but probably due to the high rent in this unique location. In summer, however, a visit can be unpleasant: the lack of air conditioning quickly makes it too warm inside, and even outside it can get quite oppressive when there's no wind. Conclusion: If you value ambiance, this is a good place to go. For a special culinary experience or good value for money, there are better alternatives in Freiburg.

It was my first time there and I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. The only downside was the service, which was rather inattentive when it came to refilling drinks. It was a bit unfortunate given the heat. But I'll definitely go back.

Our pizzas were delicious. They skimped on the salad dressing, though. We pointed it out to the very friendly staff and immediately received some extra dressing. The wait from ordering to the food arriving was okay. The prices are a bit high, especially for Lilet and similar drinks, and they're really only just up to the bar. You wouldn't notice the alcohol in it. Other than that, it's a nice restaurant with delicious food.

We reserved a table by the window and had to wait a short time at the entrance to be welcomed. We were warmly welcomed by the service staff and shown to our table. The waiting time between placing our order and paying our bill was reasonable. There is one or two things to discover in a beautiful, spacious atmosphere. Additional requests such as a slice of lemon for a glass of cola were promptly fulfilled. I think the price-performance ratio is good. I would happily recommend Purino in Freiburg.

2 Stunden auf das Essen gewartet, Die Gerichte wurden dann zeitlich so weit auseinander serviert, daß 5 Personen nacheinander und nicht miteinander gegessen haben. Nachbestellungen von Getränken wurden immer wieder vergessen. Das Personal ist zwar freundlich aber es ist wohl definitiv zu wenig Personal in der Küche. Unsere freundliche Beschwerde bei der Restaurant Leitung wurde ebenso freundlich wie auch kulant gehandhabt. Die Qualität der Speisen ist den Preisen angemessen

The restaurant was much better than the food itself. The pizza was delicious, but some dishes on the menu were unorderable due to missing ingredients. The meze was a real disappointment. Otherwise, if you want pizza and pasta, this restaurant with its lovely ambiance is definitely recommended.

Not necessarily on our list. The ambiance was nice. Service (suboptimal given the circumstances). The food: mixed opinion: "Aglio et olio was way off. The second dish was acceptable, but not great. Maybe better on other days, because the price/performance ratio was okay. We'll see.

There weren't many toppings on the pizza. We had to wait a long time for our food or for our next drink order. A couple only received the appetizer; no one noticed that the main course was missing until they complained. But many service employees would rather play around on their phones than load the many glasses from the bar into the dishwasher. Apparently, no employee had any responsibility that evening.

The food isn't particularly good. You can go there once, but it's not a culinary highlight. The shrimp noodles should have been labeled as small Arctic shrimp; that was a bit disappointing. The service is friendly and attentive.

Collecting tips in advance for group meals is pathetic. On top of that, there was a €15 catering fee, which was subsequently taken back after several people had paid. The service was shockingly poor and rude. As a side note: A business stands or falls with its staff. The owner didn't need to be present for this large group (approximately 60 people); she probably had more important things to do.

I wanted to order an iced matcha latte, but they wouldn't do it, even though they have warm matcha. Which makes me wonder, isn't that actually easier, since you don't have to warm the milk, so whatever? The iced coffee was warm?! Just warm coffee with a scoop of ice cream, ridiculous. It was also very small and, of course, very expensive. So, if you're going out for coffee, I really can't recommend Purino!

This very nice restaurant used to be the freight depot. Really worth a visit. Delicious Italian food.

This was definitely the last time we went there. Patience and waiting times have always been an issue there, but our last visit was truly abysmal. Booked a table at 6 p.m., arrived on time. Ordered drinks and food at 6:25 p.m. after much waving. Complained at 6:50 p.m. that the drinks still hadn't arrived. After still not having anything to eat, we canceled our order at 7:35 p.m. and left. It's a shame: great location, good food, but terrible service. You get the feeling no one there has ever worked in service before.

We arrive at the (almost empty) restaurant, order, and everything goes normally – until the waitress returns 15 minutes later and says, "It's not available." Okay, that can happen. But then: a 50-minute wait. For food that wasn't even fresh. The bread was standard. The salad came with an extra protein: an insect. The bill didn't arrive; we had to go to the counter ourselves. When I politely pointed out that everything was taking way too long, the young lady simply said: "Then you just don't come anymore." Mission accomplished. We really aren't coming. If you're hungry and respect your time – find another restaurant.

Unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly disappointing; the food is just mediocre Mediterranean fare, and the fact that they've also discontinued the steak dishes (and fries, too) doesn't help either. The meals are often only lukewarm, the service is friendly but seems poorly organized, and the waiting times are excessively long. The atmosphere is actually great... a real shame, and also incomprehensible.

De pasta had geen smaak. Een combinatie van van alles maar geen smaak. De parmezaanse kaas had zelfs geen smaak. Je hebt het voorgerecht nog niet op en het hoofdgerecht komt er al aan. Na het hoofdgerecht krijg je om 21.00 te horen dat het de laatste ronde is zodat je de koffie nog even snel achterover kunt gieten. Echt teleurstellend. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Average at best: I had a Pizza Bellini (known in the trade as a Pizza Tonno). The pizza was good, but not very good. I would expect that for €15. As it is, it's a bit of a rip-off. The restaurant is essentially designed to be hip and young, well, if you like that, that's a matter of taste. What's a disgrace is the service: You wait forever, and the waitresses seem completely incompetent and even rude. Example: For dessert, we ordered a tiramisu. After 25 (!) minutes, a waitress came with what she called "pancakes" (they were probably crepes). We said we wanted a tiramisu, to which the overwhelmed waitress left with the words, "Oh my God, I'll ask again." Conclusion: Unfortunately, despite a great opportunity, they make little to no use of it. Very disappointing.

It's actually a really cool place. But the constant waiting is annoying. I've been there on several different days, and each time you have to wait forever to order, for the drinks to arrive, for the food to arrive, and finally for you to pay. This really needs to improve.

The old engine shed has been beautifully restored. It has a very pleasant atmosphere and is nicely decorated. The food was truly delicious.

On Mother's Day, we wanted to go somewhere special, where we were always very satisfied until Sunday. We made a reservation online for 5:30 p.m., and since the weather was great, we went outside. There we were seated at a table that was still dirty. After 40 minutes of repeated requests, we finally got a condition where we could order drinks and food. We were then told that many items on the menu, such as steaks, carpacio, and much more, were simply no longer available because the menu was being redesigned. Very annoying. They could have just posted this on the website. We waited another 30 minutes for the starter, and then another one was missing. The main course was a complete disaster... we adults got our food before the children. The children's pasta dish didn't arrive for 10 minutes, and the other child's pizza was simply forgotten. The second time I said something, it finally arrived after 20 minutes. The rest of us had finished eating by then. Unfortunately, the ravioli pasta dish was much too dry around the edges, which is a shame considering the price and the quality of the restaurant. Some of the drinks were also forgotten. At the next table, a child waited 30 minutes for a scoop of ice cream. It wasn't busy for a Sunday evening; some guests left even after they couldn't order. The staff said there weren't enough people and they changed the menu, but then they kept everything a bit smaller or didn't open it at all. We didn't leave until 8:50 p.m. because paying also took forever. Normally, you expect a small compensation, like a coffee or a drink, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. It's a shame we have to write like this; we were actually always very satisfied and recommended it.

Sunday 11.05. 5:30 p.m. Two people, nice weather. The terrace is only a quarter open and full, we are not allowed to go to the other tables outside. Four tables are occupied inside. There are 5 waiters present. Thirty seconds after we sit down, the waitress asks for our order. We order two pasta dishes. After twenty-five minutes, the waitress brings bread and salad dressing and explains that the kitchen hasn't even started with our food yet. Well, let's eat the bread and wait another fifteen minutes. The waitress appears again and asks us if we would like bread with salad dressing again, because the dishes we ordered will take longer. We then left the store. To be so terribly poorly organized in a system catering system that doesn't cook but only warms up is really impressive. Whoever is in charge of this place has absolutely no business being in the restaurant business. Any restaurant professional would do a much better job. No, the correct answer would be: would do the job at all.

Food & ambience are good 👍 I was there several times. Service seemed overwhelmed every time. Very difficult to reorder drinks. I also think the prices are too high.

Unfortunately we had to wait more than half an hour to order and another hour for the food. Even though the restaurant was half empty, the service was overwhelming. The food (Pasta Gamberetti) came lukewarm and wasn't really convincing. The bruschetta as a starter was also carelessly topped and the bread was clearly burnt. All in all, there is no relationship between price and performance here. The service was very nice but, as described above, overwhelmed.

Unfortunately extremely disappointing. We couldn't find a free table outside and then sat inside, which wasn't an issue in itself (everything here was empty except for 3-4 tables). Unfortunately, it's like sitting in a glass house inside, there is no air conditioning or even ventilation. It would have been enough to open all the doors to allow for a draft, but instead it would be better to let the guests dehydrate. Three drinks and two meals (soup and pizza) were ordered. Great, we thought. Disillusionment came over time. Waited over 45 minutes for drinks. A drink was also brought incorrectly. Asked twice to two different employees if they could bring the right thing. Was still water, a matter of 20 seconds. Until the end, no one brought us the right drink. After the food, which came after an hour and was halfway okay, we got up straight away to pay directly at the counter so as not to wait any longer. (As already mentioned, it was soup and pizza! Soup will already be ready in the pot and in other places in a full restaurant they bring you a fresh pizza after 10-15 minutes, but probably not here.) The waitress probably wanted to make us pay for the wrong and the right water on the bill... Only after we said something did she reduce the price from €43.00 to €36.00. Where is something like that? Very very disappointing and after a few visits here, it was the last one.

The modern ambience and the very friendly service fit really well. The selection of drinks and food is varied and totally delicious.
