My subjective impression, but I know quite a few kebab shops in Freiburg and can only say —> Highly recommended! Best kebab in Freiburg!!! I recently went to the Erbil kebab shop in Rieselfeld and was absolutely thrilled. From the very first bite, I knew everything was just right. The flatbread was freshly baked, crispy on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside. No comparison to what you usually get. The salad was also crisp and fresh, perfectly balanced with the delicious sauce and a few pomegranate seeds – really good. The meat was tender, aromatically seasoned, and cooked to perfection, so that all the ingredients combined to create a true taste experience. You immediately notice that quality and attention to detail are paramount here. The service was also friendly and attentive! For me, this is clearly the best kebab I've had in Freiburg so far. I'll definitely be back and would gladly make the trip! Thank you!

Very tasty, fresh ingredients, and a fair price by today's standards! I just thought it was awful how one employee loudly scolded another employee (presumably a newbie) in front of the customers for not mopping the floor well enough. I think all the employees were very nice and tried hard, but it's not right to be so mean about your own colleagues in front of customers.

Hello Erbil, I ordered and picked up a veal doner kebab from you today. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality of the meat. The food at the Erbil restaurant in Rieselfeld was absolutely delicious! 🍴 Large portions, fresh ingredients, and very friendly service. Highly recommended—I'd love to come back!

The veggie platter was delicious and beautifully presented. The bread was fresh from the oven. The service was also very friendly. Definitely worth a visit!

The kebab was excellent! Succulent veal, crisp salad, feta, pomegranate seeds, served in homemade bread. Filling and happy! Drinks didn't arrive at first, but that was quickly rectified. It's quite busy at lunchtime, so it's worth coming after 1 p.m. The shop does have a few minor quirks here and there that could be corrected, but they try to keep it nice.

We were there yesterday, October 5, 2025, based on various sources, and had to try the doner kebab. It was very good and delicious. The pomegranate seeds and lemon zest added a refreshing touch to the kebab. The bread was super fluffy, the meat was deliciously seasoned, and the sauce was extremely tasty.

We made a reservation for nine people and were able to get our seats on time, even though it was incredibly busy. The entire team was very polite, smiling, quick, and extremely attentive. And all this despite the hustle and bustle. Most importantly, we all enjoyed the food immensely, and the portions were also outstanding. Thank you for this wonderful dinner!

Highly recommended. I had a chicken doner kebab and was very satisfied with everything. They serve preheated plates and a delicious doner kebab.

We live in Rieselfeld and always enjoy dinner here. All the dishes look delicious and lovingly prepared. We always try something new, something we've seen at neighboring tables, and we've been satisfied every time. The sauces and dips complete the experience. The portions are so large that the three of us often order just two dishes. So far, the kitchen and service have always managed to handle the high demand; and a friendly smile is always there. Other restaurants in Freiburg could send their staff for training ;-)

We searched for a long time for a new favorite doner kebab in Freiburg. We stumbled upon Erbil by chance. How lucky for us. Simply perfect and made with love. Finally, a portion that's filling. €1.5-€2 more than the average price is absolutely justified. With arugula and parsley, fresh lemon, it's simply a taste experience. The 50 cm pide are simply gigantic, easily enough for two people. They also come with a small mixed salad and doner sauce, which isn't something to be taken for granted. The shop is lovingly decorated, and you feel very comfortable there.

I honestly don't think I've ever eaten such a delicious kebab, and the kebab itself was very good. The portion size was quite challenging, and I'd consider myself a big eater. Highly recommended

The food was delicious and the service was friendly. The only thing that could be criticized is that you have to go to the cash register to pay and are not taken at the table.

The restaurant lives up to its reviews. The veal yufka is in a league of its own. I've never had such a good yufka as here. It has the perfect balance of meat, salad, and sauce, and isn't overly seasoned.

Very familiar atmosphere, excellent food and a very friendly, attentive waitress

We traveled all the way from Zurich, Switzerland – a 2.5-hour drive one way. And what can I say? Every single kilometer was worth it! The Holedönner is an absolute flavor bomb – and the homemade ayran rounds it all off perfectly. We also had delicious Adana 💥 An experience you won't forget – pure love on a plate! ❤️🔥

Unfortunately, the food wasn't cooked through, and not every side dish was served, as it was supposedly not included. Furthermore, the service was poor and unfortunately not as professional as one would expect in a restaurant. Overall, it was okay, but unfortunately not up to the other reviews.

I recently bought a kebab here, and there was a black screw in my food. A piece of my tooth broke off while biting into it. I immediately reported the incident by email with a photo, but to date, I haven't received any response or apology. Such a discovery is not only unhygienic, but also dangerous. The fact that no action has been taken makes the situation even worse. Very disappointing.

We also had a large grilled platter for two people in the evening (including salad and soup), which was very substantial and offered excellent value for money. However, it was extremely busy, and a few pieces from the skewer weren't cooked all the way through. It happens sometimes. The staff were always very friendly.

The food is OK, the meat is very good and the service is OK too, but these are restaurant prices in a snack bar. We wanted an extra helping of sauce (otherwise the food is too dry) and it cost 7 euros. Sorry, that's ridiculously expensive for a portion of sauce!

The falafel yufka was excellent! The coleslaw was perfectly seasoned. The hummus also had a great hint of tahini and was very creamy. The falafel itself was very tasty and fresh, with a hint of lemon. And the best part was the expert distribution of the ingredients. Not a single drop of sauce leaked from the yufka, but there was still enough hummus at the bottom to ensure that even the last bite wasn't just dough. A true 10 out of 10!

I was particularly impressed by the dishes [e.g., grilled dishes, mezze, or flatbread]. The service was also excellent: very friendly, attentive, and warm, making you feel immediately welcome. The atmosphere is pleasant, cozy, and inviting. A true highlight in the region – I will definitely be back and can highly recommend the Erbil Restaurant!

For a long time, I thought Euphrat was the best kebab in Freiburg, where even as a vegetarian you can get a great selection and it tastes really good. Far from it! ERBIL is really amazing. Super fresh, super tasty, super friendly! Everything looks incredibly appealing, and I can only give the vegan and vegetarian dishes a thumbs up! No words! Sooooo incredibly delicious! Anyone who likes kebabs and the like should definitely visit ERBIL! Not just a kebab, but simply delicious food! The nice thing is that you can also eat there in the restaurant. It's not just a fast food place where you grab something to eat, but also a nice atmosphere to eat there, assuming you can get a table! Unlikely in the evening, but more likely at lunch. What surprised me most was the management and service. Sixteen of us arrived without a reservation, and the restaurant was full. We waited only a few minutes, then were greeted and served attentively. The lahmacun kebabs are delicious.

I'll keep it short: It's so delicious here! The kebab is so delicious, I'd almost say it's the best kebab I've had in a long time! I highly recommend everyone to eat here :) We come regularly :)

Very good restaurant. We weren't greeted immediately upon arrival, but afterward, it was spotless. Served quickly. The food was generously garnished and very tasty, but I still found the drinks a little pricey. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised.

I went for the Beytikebab based on its rating, but I honestly regret throwing my money away. This is the worst Beytikebab I have ever eaten in my life. I don't understand how it got such a high score. What they call Beyti is raw meat wrapped in thick bread, a weird uncooked tomato sauce on top, and sour, spoiled yogurt that made me sick. It's literally not even worth a scratch. We also had the mixed grill, which was a little better, but we ate it to fill our stomachs. This price doesn't suit this quality at all. The only thing I was pleased with was the attentiveness of the waiters.

It was 35 degrees outside, but inside it was very pleasant, shady, well-decorated, and the food was excellent, with very generous portions. I ate a huge kebab plate with bulgur.

While exploring Freiburg, we found a cozy and beautifully decorated place for lunch. The atmosphere immediately felt welcoming, and the lady who served us was very kind. We were pleasantly surprised to be served a warm lentil soup with fresh salad and bread on the house. For our main dishes, we ordered shish tawouk and kebab, both packed with flavor and served in generous portions—enough for two people to share easily. To top it off, we were lucky to find a parking spot right in front. Overall, it was a delightful and satisfying meal.

Food 5 Ambience 5 Service 2 A very nice restaurant, cleanliness and excellent food. However, one of the employees was unfriendly and made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We first asked him to sit at a table, but the restaurant wasn't full. It was for two people, and there were six of us. We asked him to combine the two tables, and he was very angry. When we asked him for hot Arabic bread, his response was very rude. However, his individual behavior doesn't prevent me from coming back again, and I highly recommend visiting him.

It would be a shame not to order the vegetarian grilled meat, though; it's delicious! Not the typical fast food kebab. It felt like the neighbourhood meeting place, with a lot of food options. Great food, big portions.

We discovered this restaurant through Holle 21614. We left Zurich on a Sunday evening and had made a reservation by phone. When we arrived at 8:30 p.m., the restaurant was busy. Despite the large number of guests, there was a really cool atmosphere – with beautiful tables, lamps, chairs, and much more. We immediately ordered three main courses and an appetizer plate. The appetizer plate was a true explosion of flavor: The various sauces and the lentil hummus soup were truly delicious. The main courses were also prepared and served with great care and attention. All in all, a restaurant I would gladly visit again.

We decided to try the burgers. The cheeseburger was really juicy, nothing to complain about. The fries were delicious too. The chicken burger was okay, but the patty was a bit thin. I don't want to imply anything; maybe I just got a thin one. A bit thicker patties would be nice in the future. Everything tasted fine, though.

The food was amazing, five stars plus. The service was quick during the serving, but too inattentive afterward. I found it annoying to have to pay at the counter after eating, where others were ordering their kebabs to go. You end up standing in line.

I had high expectations, but was sadly disappointed. Both the lahmacun and the grilled meat were abysmally bad. The doner meat was tasteless and incredibly greasy. The sauces were subpar, and the hummus tasted like it came from a bucket. The cleanliness also left a lot to be desired. The floor was plastered with greasy fries, which almost caused me to slip. I really can't recommend this place. It's no comparison to the other grill restaurants in Freiburg.

The dining experience was okay, but the service left much to be desired. At 3 p.m., almost all of the tables around us were empty, yet we were asked to vacate the chair where our handbags were (we were at a table for two). I explained to the server that I didn't understand this, as there were many empty tables around us and countless empty chairs. Nevertheless, he insisted. It was our first and last visit.

I came to Restaurant Erbil based on the many good reviews. The staff were friendly, service was fast, and the food initially seemed tasty — but what happened next completely ruined the experience. My home-made Aycan drink had two house flies inside. I was offered a replacement, but I had already seen enough — the flies were inside the machine, and I witnessed a clear hygiene problem in the kitchen. I even took a photo as proof. This isn’t a one-off issue — it looks like an infestation. Worst of all, I later fell ill with diarrhea, likely caused by what I consumed. The restaurant still charged me for the drink, with no apology or compensation, which added insult to injury. This place should not be operating under these conditions. Customers deserve to know what’s going on behind the scenes — and it’s not just poor hygiene, it’s a health hazard.

Best food in freiburg ( doner is the best )

The food was really delicious and the atmosphere was really nice – we felt completely at home! One small downside: The restroom was unfortunately quite dirty, and the drinks fridge could have been cleaner. Otherwise, it was great!
