The best restaurant in Freiburg. The food is amazing. One skewer is worth two. I recommend it.

What surprised me most was the management and service. Sixteen of us arrived without a reservation, and the restaurant was full. We waited only a few minutes, then were greeted and served attentively. The lahmacun kebabs are delicious.

I'll keep it short: It's so delicious here! The kebab is so delicious, I'd almost say it's the best kebab I've had in a long time! I highly recommend everyone to eat here :) We come regularly :)

I went for the Beytikebab based on its rating, but I honestly regret throwing my money away. This is the worst Beytikebab I have ever eaten in my life. I don't understand how it got such a high score. What they call Beyti is raw meat wrapped in thick bread, a weird uncooked tomato sauce on top, and sour, spoiled yogurt that made me sick. It's literally not even worth a scratch. We also had the mixed grill, which was a little better, but we ate it to fill our stomachs. This price doesn't suit this quality at all. The only thing I was pleased with was the attentiveness of the waiters.

It was 35 degrees outside, but inside it was very pleasant, shady, well-decorated, and the food was excellent, with very generous portions. I ate a huge kebab plate with bulgur.

While exploring Freiburg, we found a cozy and beautifully decorated place for lunch. The atmosphere immediately felt welcoming, and the lady who served us was very kind. We were pleasantly surprised to be served a warm lentil soup with fresh salad and bread on the house. For our main dishes, we ordered shish tawouk and kebab, both packed with flavor and served in generous portions—enough for two people to share easily. To top it off, we were lucky to find a parking spot right in front. Overall, it was a delightful and satisfying meal.

Food 5 Ambience 5 Service 2 A very nice restaurant, cleanliness and excellent food. However, one of the employees was unfriendly and made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We first asked him to sit at a table, but the restaurant wasn't full. It was for two people, and there were six of us. We asked him to combine the two tables, and he was very angry. When we asked him for hot Arabic bread, his response was very rude. However, his individual behavior doesn't prevent me from coming back again, and I highly recommend visiting him.

The food was really, really good. I had to-go. And I also had the wrong meal. But it was great 😋

Update: Even after two years, the quality hasn't deteriorated, and the price/performance ratio is one of the best I've seen ❤️

Fantastic food in a lovely atmosphere with super friendly service! There were four of us, and you definitely don't need an appetizer if you order the grilled meat. It would be a shame not to order the vegetarian grilled meat, though; it's delicious! I had veal skewers from the charcoal grill with bulgur, and they also served a small salad and lentil soup... everything was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended, we'll be back very soon! (It's best to make a reservation on weekends; we got a table by chance.)

Not the typical fast food kebab. It felt like the neighbourhood meeting place, with a lot of food options. Great food, big portions.

We discovered this restaurant through Holle 21614. We left Zurich on a Sunday evening and had made a reservation by phone. When we arrived at 8:30 p.m., the restaurant was busy. Despite the large number of guests, there was a really cool atmosphere – with beautiful tables, lamps, chairs, and much more. We immediately ordered three main courses and an appetizer plate. The appetizer plate was a true explosion of flavor: The various sauces and the lentil hummus soup were truly delicious. The main courses were also prepared and served with great care and attention. All in all, a restaurant I would gladly visit again.

We decided to try the burgers. The cheeseburger was really juicy, nothing to complain about. The fries were delicious too. The chicken burger was okay, but the patty was a bit thin. I don't want to imply anything; maybe I just got a thin one. A bit thicker patties would be nice in the future. Everything tasted fine, though.

The food was amazing, five stars plus. The service was quick during the serving, but too inattentive afterward. I found it annoying to have to pay at the counter after eating, where others were ordering their kebabs to go. You end up standing in line.

I had high expectations, but was sadly disappointed. Both the lahmacun and the grilled meat were abysmally bad. The doner meat was tasteless and incredibly greasy. The sauces were subpar, and the hummus tasted like it came from a bucket. The cleanliness also left a lot to be desired. The floor was plastered with greasy fries, which almost caused me to slip. I really can't recommend this place. It's no comparison to the other grill restaurants in Freiburg.

The dining experience was okay, but the service left much to be desired. At 3 p.m., almost all of the tables around us were empty, yet we were asked to vacate the chair where our handbags were (we were at a table for two). I explained to the server that I didn't understand this, as there were many empty tables around us and countless empty chairs. Nevertheless, he insisted. It was our first and last visit.

We were visiting Freiburg and discovered this gem. Top quality, truly amazing veal doner meat, and friendly, service-oriented staff. If I lived in Freiburg, this would be my first choice. I had the doner salad, and it was truly delicious.

I came to Restaurant Erbil based on the many good reviews. The staff were friendly, service was fast, and the food initially seemed tasty — but what happened next completely ruined the experience. My home-made Aycan drink had two house flies inside. I was offered a replacement, but I had already seen enough — the flies were inside the machine, and I witnessed a clear hygiene problem in the kitchen. I even took a photo as proof. This isn’t a one-off issue — it looks like an infestation. Worst of all, I later fell ill with diarrhea, likely caused by what I consumed. The restaurant still charged me for the drink, with no apology or compensation, which added insult to injury. This place should not be operating under these conditions. Customers deserve to know what’s going on behind the scenes — and it’s not just poor hygiene, it’s a health hazard.

The food was really delicious and the atmosphere was really nice – we felt completely at home! One small downside: The restroom was unfortunately quite dirty, and the drinks fridge could have been cleaner. Otherwise, it was great!

Oriental cuisine of a good to very good standard, with large portions. The ordering system is a disaster: guests at the next table had to wait over half an hour for their order to reach the kitchen. The order was stored in the computer without being printed out for the kitchen (!). The server politely asked us for our side dish choice (fries, rice, or bulgur), but the food arrived without a side dish. When we politely asked, the server explained that she had to ask first. Understandable for young professionals, this wasn't a problem for us. The more problematic aspect was that we had to repeatedly ask the server, who constantly ignored us, for an answer to our/her question. In the end, the explanation was that the system was mistakenly spitting out a side dish for our dishes (hummus plate with chicken and Erbil salad with doner meat), but these weren't actually provided. We accepted this explanation, of course; the portions were large enough even without a side dish. But we would have expected the waiter to respond to our request on his own, and not have to ask repeatedly for the advertised side dishes. Therefore, a clear deduction for service.

We stopped by on the way, everything was great, portions were delicious, friendly staff. I'm glad I passed through here. ☺️

Wow, what large portions and delicious food! I ate there for the first time today, but what bothered me most was the noise level. When I go out to eat, I want a quiet atmosphere. The "walk-in" customers make it so hectic and noisy that you can't really enjoy your meal. It's a constant in-and-out-in-and-out...which is why I don't think I'll go back...

Great shop. First time there and I'm beyond satisfied. Fast, friendly service. No long wait. I ordered a kebab plate and the food was on the table within 5 minutes. It was a feast for the eyes and the stomach. I highly recommend it.

Four of us tried the doner kebab today. We came hungry from the Freiburg charity run and had high expectations...they were exceeded! Both the service and the food were incredibly good! I had the Holle doner kebab—highly recommended! We even got four baklavas on the house for dessert. Highly recommended, we'll be back! Thank you for the delicious food.

Very good food, I had the pide with minced meat, highly recommended. The pide came with a small side salad and sauce. Fantastic! A bit on the higher side, but definitely worth a visit. The staff was friendly, and card payments were accepted.

Update: Erbil is drowning in stress. When the place is full, everything just rushes. We've been there twice to pick up. It was done wrong each time. Things (ingredients) are just thrown on, and instructions are ignored. No love. Yufka is no longer rolled, but squashed together. We won't be coming back. That used to be: Doner is really delicious. Fresh meat, prepared with fresh lemon. Staff are extremely friendly and the ambiance is nice. A truly nice addition.

The venue is good and the food is delicious

Erbil has established itself as our favorite kebab restaurant. We often drive from the city center to Rieselfeld in the evenings just to eat here – and it's worth it every time! The food is consistently delicious and always beautifully presented. The portions are generous – perfect for those big hunger pangs after a workout. If you're a little peckish, it's usually enough to share something. The prices are absolutely fair, both in terms of quality and quantity. The homemade ayran is a real highlight: nicely salty and just the thing after strenuous summer activities. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and has always been busy. Larger groups should definitely make reservations. Despite this, we've never had to wait long for our food. The staff is always friendly – ​​even during peak times when things get a bit hectic. One small criticism: Unfortunately, the large portions often leave well-filled plates of delicious food left over. Perhaps it would be a good idea to offer smaller portions as well. All in all, we are very satisfied – thank you for the great food, dear Erbil team! See you soon!

I arrived a few minutes before closing time, and despite that, the staff agreed to prepare my takeaway order with a smile. Really super nice and helpful! I had a pide and a kebab: absolutely excellent, with fresh products and lots of flavor. Honestly, it was so good! A big thank you to the team, I will definitely come back.

May 25 Bread cut half open, great to eat, nothing falls out. Crispy and dough not torn. Top grade 1 Mixed well, 3 bites of pure meat at the end 2+ Top ingredients, extremely fresh, meat needs to be roasted a bit more 1- Feb 25 Saturday, 1:30 p.m. Standard doner. Mixing not perfect but good grade 2. Noticeably fresh greens flavor. Grade 1 Veal already cooled, roasted well, taste suffers from the temperature but still good, not too fatty grade 2- Ratio of meat to greens grade 1- Bread crispy, not as salty as previously mentioned. Crumb tears, doner breaks it down easily. Perhaps more moisture was added to the dough during production. Likewise, bread cut too wide (I know it can be filled more easily), suggestion to use pre-mixed if eating straight away. The meat cools down faster when you take it out, which would be counterproductive. Please be more innovative, stand out from the crowd with something like that! Only a grade of 3- for the bread. Last time I went, it was great this time. The service wipes the table upon arrival, exemplary, a grade of 1. Overall, for the first time in a while, not disappointed, as things have obviously improved. Overall grade of 2 to 3, I'll be back soon to determine the trend. 👉 October 2024: My overall grade continues to fall, now only a grade of 3-, with a tendency towards 4+. Today I'm testing the beloved Erbil Standard Doner without cheese again. I've been disappointed several times since my last review in July 2024. It seems to me as if customer reviews aren't taken seriously at all. The staff are increasingly lowering their standards regarding meal preparation and table service. As a guest, you expect newly occupied tables to be wiped down with a damp cloth upon arrival. It's time to return to old virtues. Today, the doner kebab was dripping with sauce; the waiter noticed this at the table and skillfully removed the excess behind the counter. Ideally, the doner kebab should be prepared perfectly the first time, which also includes a good mixing of the ingredients. The last five bites this time consisted only of meat. Poor grade 5. This isn't the first time I've found the bread in need of improvement and rated it. The chef hasn't improved anything since then. Currently, the bread isn't well-suited for overly fatty contents. It could be baked crisper, with a sturdier crust that would prevent the fat from seeping out. Once again, the bread was cut far too wide. This makes eating increasingly difficult, and the contents tend to evaporate with every bite. A lack of initiative, as well as poor quality and organization, lead to a grade of 4+. The meat skewer also seems to have undergone cost-cutting measures. A year ago, barely any fat dripped from the meat. Now, it's a mixture of meat fat and sauce that comes out of the bread. The suggestion for improvement, which would have been the icing on the cake for a perfect kebab experience—cutting the meat by hand—hasn't been implemented yet. The taste is still good, but far from perfect. Grade 2- Overall grade 3-. I'll definitely be back, hoping to be served a better kebab. July 2024: Resting on one's laurels is the conclusion, with an overall grade of 2- April 2024: The overall grade remains at a very good 1-. 👍👍👍 Cutting the meat by hand, as well as consistently mixing the ingredients in the bread, would help improve the rating to a solid 1. (I also had a doner kebab that wasn't mixed so well.) This time, the sauce was top-notch in terms of flavor, distribution, and quantity. The bread was fluffy and freshly baked, and all the ingredients were also very fresh, really top-notch. The layered veal skewer was machine-cut, so the meat didn't soak the bread with grease. Highly recommended! I've been there several times now. Everything is always fresh and of extremely high quality. If you like to leave a restaurant feeling full, this is the place for you. Every main course always comes with a soup and a mixed starter. This completely puts the seemingly slightly higher price into perspective. I've also spoken with the chef several times. Everything here is produced in-house and purchased from local greengrocers or butchers.

I have to honestly say that it's been a long time since I've had a kebab that even dared to make the meat a little crispier... it was really a welcome change, plus the fact that the kebab is absolutely not dry even without sauce and is juicy right down to the last bit! The employees all do their best and the food is also very good and plentiful. I just find some guests who talk on the phone or play around on their cell phones even while they're eating terrible. Can't you even concentrate on that and the others while eating? In the restaurant, your cell phone should be left off for this conscious time. 🤗
