Restaurant Diakopes in Westerstede

We ate there a few months ago during our vacation. The food was very good. I especially liked the option for vegetarians to choose three appetizers for €15. However, I was very put off by the chef—apparently the owner?—who went around to every table, loudly seeking confirmation that the food was delicious. Furthermore, several guests, including my husband, had ordered gyros, which apparently couldn't be prepared quickly or in large quantities. My husband and other tables were served before a family who had ordered before our arrival. The family's adult son, who has a mental disability, was very hungry. After the family pointed out the situation, the owner didn't apologize or offer a snack to tide them over, but simply made a snide remark: "Some children are born earlier, some later, that's life!" Absolutely unacceptable! The son did eventually get his gyros relatively quickly, while his parents were still waiting. Ugh, it was truly embarrassing.

I don't write this often, but as of May 2024, I can wholeheartedly recommend Diakopes. The service was friendly, very attentive, and quick. The food arrived quickly and tasted very good, with a generous portion – just enough to leave you feeling full and satisfied without having to rush out of the restaurant. I also appreciated that they asked if an ouzo would be okay before pointlessly pouring it. Diakopes is on the higher end of the price range for Westerstede, but we found it entirely reasonable. A successful dinner!

The food was cold. The salad was like slime. The restaurant smells like a construction yard. I paid €300 for three people, way too expensive, never again.

Right next to the campsite, the food is good (what I missed was the Greek spice). The beer is overpriced - 1 wheat beer costs €6.50.

We went out to eat twice. The first time, the sakanaki was only lukewarm. However, I was offered a new sakanaki upon request. The food was very well seasoned, but not overly seasoned. Everything was excellent on the second visit.

The best Greek restaurant we've ever visited. Delicious, beautifully presented, modern decor, and friendly service. We were here with our motorhome and will be back just for the Greek restaurant.

It was fantastic, as always. My wife even received a bottle of wine for her birthday. We'd happily come back and highly recommend it!

We visited this restaurant a year ago and felt comfortable. There was plenty of food on the plates. The price/performance ratio was excellent. We were there again yesterday and were very disappointed. We sat in a so-called club room (a small room with a table and chairs). No restaurant atmosphere. Then the salad arrived, and it was very small. The main course was also very meager. One tablespoon of rice, three turkey medallions, and a very, very thin Metaxa sauce. My daughter's bifteki also had very little. We left hungry.

Great Greek restaurant at the campsite. Modern decor for a Greek restaurant. Everything is very open. The chef even walks from table to table. The restaurant was very busy. Unfortunately, we had to wait what felt like a long time for our food, but otherwise everything was great. The food was delicious, and everyone was full. The ouzo on the house before paying was also very good. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Hey, After eating here five times in six weeks and trying more than three-quarters of the menu, we can say with full stomachs... fantastic!!! We are four people and two dogs. We ate in the attached tent with a wooden floor, which is beautifully decorated. The food is highly recommended. The service is second to none and was always very friendly. We'd love to come back!!! P.S. We wanted to recommend dishes but couldn't decide; everything was simply incredibly delicious. 😋 Best wishes and keep up the good work, your new regulars

Super delicious food, not overpriced. Friendly service. Even though a lot of food was being taken out for pickup, we had our food in about 25 minutes. Dogs are only allowed in the attached tent.

A nice, friendly welcome, a modern and appealing ambiance, and ordering drinks and food was quick. The food was good except for the gyro; I've had better.

Five stars isn't really enough; we've rarely had such good Greek food as here. The price-performance ratio is acceptable. The portions are large and very tasty; the fries alone are great. The staff is super friendly. And when you pay, you get a usso on the house.

Camping site and restaurant recommended. Place very clean, sanitary building also great. Pitches are very generous, there is nothing to complain about. The restaurant deserves 5 stars. Very nice little restaurant. Extremely friendly staff. The owner was super nice. We had bruschetta as a starter. After a short wait, the food was served to us hot. It was very good, not too spicy. The portion wasn't huge, but completely sufficient. As a 'nightcap' we got a delicious Marsala. Price-performance ratio is great. We always enjoy coming back.

Great restaurant with a good selection and reasonable prices. The starter salad alone is worth a visit. The main courses I have eaten over time have been, without exception, culinary delights. In summer you can always sit outside. A reservation is now advisable. We like being here.

This was the second time we have been to this lovely restaurant and we will always be happy to visit again. The atmosphere is modern and contemporary. The service is particularly recommended and is second to none. The food is very nicely prepared and really tasty and delicious. The boss takes care of his guests himself, which is of course very commendable. There are also plenty of parking spaces in front of the house. All in all a clear 5 star rating and definitely recommended.

We went here for dinner for the first time four years ago. We've been coming back ever since. Small menu, everything fresh and high quality. Portions that are not heavy on your stomach. Service is always great, we are thrilled. Price/performance with the quality is great. Keep it up, you're a great team!

We had our company party with 11 people there, there were appetizers and platters that were quite okay, we had a decent amount of money available which we made full use of and this was also a very good turnover for the innkeeper that evening. Despite everything, we were supposed to pay an additional 17 euros the next day we picked up the bill. With an invoice amount of over 800 euros, I thought it was pretty cheeky to ask for something like that. There probably won't be a second celebration there. In order to keep customers or win new ones, you as a business owner should give something a go, word gets around in a positive way. Now we won't be able to recommend it any further.

My husband and I ate there for the first time. We received a very warm welcome. We ordered a platter for 2 people. The accompanying salad came immediately and the food came quickly, despite the fact that the restaurant was very busy. We ate incredibly delicious food - the meat was very juicy and tender. We just didn't like the lamb. Price is completely ok for the amount of food! We would definitely come back if we were in the area again!

As a family we were able to eat here with 10 people. We received a very friendly welcome, we were repeatedly asked whether everything was OK, all 10 dishes were served at the same time and and and = therefore 5 stars+ in terms of service. All dishes were delicious and beautifully prepared. The restaurant is chic and modernly furnished. We all really enjoyed it and we will definitely come back

Thank you for the friendly hospitality even after the kitchen closed and despite the sign with a furry nose. The offer to take us to the hotel with our dog because of the bad weather adds a little crown to this hotel. Highly recommended, not just because of the cuisine.

Very nice staff, food was very good. We arrived there completely wet from the rain around 8 p.m. with our dog. It was already closing time for the kitchen but we still got a gyros plate with rice. Full and satisfied, we paid. Then the boss asked us if he could drive us to the hotel. Thank you, you're great, keep it up👍👍

Ordered food to pick up again. It was okay until then. Not great, but okay. After about 20 minutes I was able to pick up the food (3 menus). We had to expect that it would be more expensive. The restaurant was hardly occupied. Sunday evening 7 p.m. At home the result: over 50€!!! By the way: outside the home: 7% Comparable menus from other providers (Slavia, Treffpunkt...) are cheaper. Extra tzatziki was canned “only half full”. The price is really exorbitant!!! Extra salad in the box: half filled and little variety. 1 tablespoon of tzatziki in the menu box is also very little. >>>>€6!!! for a "half-full", medium-sized plastic pot of tzatziki.<<<< Competitors in your area can do this SIGNIFICANTLY better. Unfortunately, the food is still heavy on the stomach. That's it for us. We will never order from you for such a price again. Pay more for less food? Let’s be honest: take a look around at your competitors/restaurants. Even a friendly word from the boss or waitress is of no use to me. That's it for us. It's a real shame (I'm avoiding verbal disappointment here) and embarrassingly expensive. :-(

The food was very tasty, but we found the waiting time too long considering that the restaurant wasn't full in the middle of the week. The staff were very nice and it was a good service and a pleasant evening.

Meine Frau und ich waren Ende Dezember 2023 drei Tage in Westerstede, im empfehlenswerten Schokoladenhotel. Wunderbar waren die beiden Restaurants, in denen wir abends waren, das Diakopes und das Leogrande. Das top renovierte Diakopes liegt an einem Campingplatz, 1-2km vom Zentrum entfernt. Das Essen war sehr, sehr gut, und Bedienung und der Koch, der sich bei allen Gästen kurz vorgestellt hat, sehr freundlich. Wir hatten Gyrossalat und ein sehr zartes Schweinefilet Metaxasauce, beides sehr zu empfehlen. Die Preise waren für die Qualität mehr als angemessen.

My wife and I spent three days in Westerstede at the end of December 2023, in the recommended chocolate hotel. The two restaurants we went to in the evening were wonderful, the Diakopes and the Leogrande. The superbly renovated Diakopes is located on a campsite, 1-2km from the center. The food was very, very good, and the service and the chef, who briefly introduced himself to all the guests, were very friendly. We had gyro salad and a very tender pork fillet with Metaxa sauce, both highly recommended. The prices were more than reasonable for the quality.

Keurig restaurant vriendelijke bediening en uitstekend eten! Zeker een aan rader. Wel word de rekening gemaximaliseerd door overal extra voor te rekenen. Daardoor redelijk prijzig voor Duitse Griek. Maar voortreffelijk

Essen ist sehr gut gewesen und der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Preismässig ist es für die Portionsgröße ( mein essen s. Foto kam 19,50 € ) etwas teuer, aber man kann ja nicht einerseits auf die Löhne in der Gastronomie schimpfen und andererseits sich beschweren das es zu teuer ist. Wer das eine will muss das andere mögen😉 also wir gehen wieder einmal hin.

Delicious flavors on the plate. 🙂 What truly stood out, however, was the warm and attentive service. Their genuine friendliness added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. For fellow travelers, it's worth noting that right next to the restaurant, there's a convenient stellplatz for campers as well as a camping area. This makes it an excellent stop for those on a road trip or camping adventure.

Das Essen war nichts besonderes. Wir haben 45 Min . aufs Essen gewartet. Dann war 1 Gericht noch falsch, was wir dann so annahmen um nicht noch länger zu warten. Servicekräfte alle sehr freundlich daher mehr Sterne als verdient. Und das Essen war recht teuer für das was es gab , wir sind es von unseren Griechen anders gewohnt. Schade. Hoffe es war nur heute ein Problem vom Koch.

Ich bin mega begeistert vom Diakopes. Die Sessel sind mega bequem und laden zum länger bleiben ein. Das Essen ist einfach nur lecker. Der Chef geht durch das Restaurant und begrüßt die Gäste persönlich. Die Bedienung ist sehr aufmerksam sehr freundlich. Alles in allem einfach das beste Restaurant in Westerstede

Essen war sehr gut aber zu wenig für das Geld Personal war sehr freundlich und kompetent wir mussten mit unseren kleinen Hund in ein Zelt na ja nicht so prall aber sonst sehr gut.

Haben auf dem - neben dem Restaurant - befindlichen Wohnmobilstellplatz übernachtet. Kurzfristig haben wir noch einen Tisch im Restaurant bekommen. Wir waren begeistert. Preis-/Leistung sind sehr gut. Der Beilagensalat war sehr lecker. Gyros top. Kühle Getränke begleiteten unser schönes Abendessen. Sehr gutes, freundliches Servicepersonal. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Leider sind die Preise sehr hoch vor zwei Monaten waren wir noch da und haben für das selbe Gericht 6 Euro weniger bezahlt. Und die Gericht sind viel kleiner geworden.

Das Essen war Super Der Tellerinhalt war etwas übersichtlich für den Preis . Das Restaurant war eher Imbiss Es fehlte der Flair

Noch nie so ein gutes Gyros gegessen !!!!!!! Das Restaurant glänzt in jeder Ecke ! Die Bedienung ist super nett !!!! So stell ich mir eine gute Gastronomie vor. Ich komme sehr sehr gerne wieder!!

Ein einfach gehaltenes "griechisches" Lokal, mit sehr freundlichem Personal und einer sehr guten Küche. Die Portionen für unsere Verhältnisse ausreichend. Wir waren absolut zufrieden und werden wiederkommen. Einzige Verbesserung wäre die Anpassung der Preisangabe im Internet, denn diese sind nicht aktuell.

Leckere und gute Portionen zum Fairen Preis

Wir haben hier hervorragend gegessen! Preis-Leistung ist völlig in Ordnung. Der Gastwirt und dessen Familie sind wirklich sehr gastfreundlich und offen für ein nettes Gespräch. Nach dem Essen gab's - gemäß der griechischen Gastfreundschaft üblich - einen eiskalten Ouzo serviert. Die Gaststätte wurde erst im Februar '23 sehr gelungen umgebaut und wirkt äußerst einladend. Wir können dieses Restaurant wärmstens empfehlen und wünschen dem Gastgeber weiterhin viel Erfolg.

Zum Ambiente: Wir saßen draußen im Zelt. Tisch sehr lieblos eingedeckt. Service: Alles ging zügig, Reklamation wurde sofort angenommen. Essen: Ich hatte Lammkoteletts bestellt. Sie waren so zäh und voller Knorpel, dass man sie nicht essen konnte. Dann bekam ich Gyros, der sehr lecker war. Dann kam Dr Chef an unseren Tisch und diskutierte mit mir, dass er das Lamm schon seit sechs Jahren so verkaufte und bisher keine Reklamation erhalten habe. Sehr von sich eingenommen. Kann aber selbst nicht kochen und rühmte sich damit, nur fünf Stunden pro Tag zu arbeiten, alles Andere machen seine Angestellten. Naja. Also zum Gyrosessen kann man dort gut hingehen. Das Lokal ist aber nicht besser als ein Imbiss.
