Restaurant Charmant in Hamburg

The day before yesterday I was in this restaurant for the first time through friends. When I visit for the first time, I always like to order vitello tonnato because I've seen it from many restaurants and therefore have something to compare it to. At first glance the vitello was rather small, but that doesn't have to be a mistake. What I found more surprising was that there were no capers on it but a cherry tomato and pieces of red pepper. The veal underneath could only be described as sturdy; It was covered with a very liquid, light sauce, which, both in appearance and taste, was reminiscent of tuna. For the main course I ordered real Wiener Schnitzel, i.e. with veal. The first glance told me that both the schnitzel and the fried potatoes had been lying in fat that was obviously not really hot for far too long and had taken the opportunity to soak themselves full. The schnitzel was still edible, but the potatoes weren't. At least one of the missing capers has now appeared. It was rolled up in an anchovy and lay on top of the schnitzel. Positive: an alcoholic drink was offered after the meal and we had the choice between three options. The grappa helped my stomach process what had happened before. Can I recommend this place? No. However, I was only there once and the reviews suggest that other guests have had different experiences.

Unfortunately, the service seemed to be overwhelmed. Which led to long waiting times. Please don't misunderstand. You're not in a snack bar. But if you end up being forgotten after you've ordered drinks, it doesn't reflect well on the service. It can't be explained by the fact that there are too many tables that you could lose track. The food was good and I would come back for that. The price for the food is fair. The quality is good and it is beautifully prepared. I really liked some of the atmosphere. What I personally didn't like about light was that it tried to place a lot of gestures in a very small space. Unfortunately, this means that it becomes very loud in the room, which disrupts the actually cozy charm. Parking is a gamble. The restaurant can't help but I would like to mention it once. That's why I only give it 3 stars overall. It could have been 4 stars if the service had been better. It could be that we just had a bad day.

The ambience is really nice. The service was great❤️ However, we were unlucky with the pizza. The flamed salmon was frozen and then put in the microwave along with the whole pizza. Result of this action: the dough became so floppy...ugh. Too bad. We children invited our 70-year-old mother to dinner. Of course she ordered this dish. The other food was fine though.

Nice, small restaurant in a quiet location. Well attended, nice atmosphere, very attentive service. I asked if the fish version of the 3-course menu contained meat anywhere. The answer to this was no, and I (as a pescatarian) automatically received a meat-free alternative to the greeting from the kitchen. The menu boasts clever combinations of European and Asian/Indian cuisine. What was on offer was tasty and presented in an original way, only the fish (sea bream with potato biscuits) didn't quite convince me in terms of taste. All in all, I'd love to come back to try pizza and pasta :)

I was at the Charmant restaurant and had my dog ​​with me - and I have to say, I was absolutely thrilled! It's a rather small shop, which gives the whole thing a very cozy atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional and very accommodating. I particularly liked the greeting from the kitchen and the schnapps at the end - that shows how much love goes into the work here. It's rare to find such good service these days. Even though it was a little loud that evening, it didn't affect the great ambience or the overall package in any way. It was a really nice evening that I would like to repeat!

Small menu, small shop, very tasty food!

The schnitzel was very tasty, as was the bread. However, the Caesar salad wasn't that good: the dressing didn't taste like anything, the salad was a bit soft and the portion was a bit small. Otherwise it was nice and the staff was friendly.

Nach der Einschulung unserer Enkelin sind wir hier mit der Familie Essen gegangen. Zur Mittagszeit hatten wir einen großen Tisch im Garten reserviert. Er liegt ruhig im Grünen hinter dem Restaurant. Der Service ist ausgesprochen freundlich. Sofort wurden die Getränke aufgenommen. Alle 8 Personen bestellten verschiedene Gerichte. Und sie wurden alle zur selben Zeit serviert. Es gibt zwar eine nette Mittagskarte, wir wählten aber ala carte. Ich hatte das fantastische original Wiener Schnitzel mit hausgemachten Kartoffel-Gurcken-Salat. Sehr köstlich abgeschmeckt. Die Portion war kaum zu schaffen und das zu einem normalen Preis. Toll. Auch bei der Black Tiger Garnelenpfanne wurde geschwärmt. Ebenso traumhaft war das Karree vom Ibericoschwein. Auch die Pasts-Gerichte waren tadellos. Das die Kids bei der Pizza glücklich waren, sagt alles. Wir waren rundrum mehr als zufrieden. Das Gartenambiente mit unserer witzigen Servicekraft rundete das tolle Familienessen ab. Vielen Dank.

We were in the restaurant today and in an emergency situation we simply asked for a glass of tap water - for an elderly lady who apparently suffers from dementia and has been wandering around for hours. We had already called the emergency number and in the meantime we just wanted to give the lady something to drink because she was obviously thirsty. Incredibly, the restaurant charged 2.50 euros for a simple glass of tap water and was unwilling to help us without charging that amount. To act in such a cold-hearted and greedy manner in such an emergency is absolutely unacceptable. We are appalled by the outrageous behavior and lack of humanity. I can only advise everyone not to visit this restaurant. Obviously, profit trumps everything here, even the well-being of people in need.

I've been in Hamburg for 8 years and finally, finally I've found everything I love! I love beautifully presented dishes, impeccable service and the food is excellent! We took our three and a half year old son and we loved it! It was the second time we ate there and certainly not the last as we will be living just a few meters away! I, who loves cooking and eating, think that I finally found a place where I can rest and enjoy with my family ❤️.

Not only is the restaurant called charming, so is the service! From the greeting from the kitchen to the baguette with homemade butter to the Vitello Tonato on the daily menu to the pasta with chicken, everything was perfect. The delicious meal was accompanied by an excellent Pinot Blanc and an espresso at the end. The grappa from the house was the icing on the cake! A great meal! I'll definitely be back!

Gemütlich, optisch sehr schön zubereitetes Essens. Liebe zum Detail. Sehr nettes Personal Beim Filet Steak ist Medium dann eher Medium Rare zu erwarten. Auf Nachfrage wurde sofort neu zubereitet. Dann leider ein ängstliches Medium. Dennoch kann man das Restaurant voll empfehlen. Den alles andere war sehr gut.

We spontaneously went to eat here after a visit to the zoo and were not disappointed. Very family friendly, our 1 year old was even greeted with greetings from the kitchen and also received a bruschetta with tomatoes and onions. Both the Wiener Schnitzel with side dishes and the salami pizza were excellent. Unfortunately we were so full that we couldn't try the homemade ice cream. But we will definitely come back as the service and food were great.

Menu was okay - but nothing more. Dip for bread tasteless and quite fatty. The bread was quite good. Fish carpaccio was quite bland and the fish was tough. Main course veal with asparagus was okay but nothing special. Tiramisu for dessert was very bland and watery. Not enough for us to visit this restaurant again.

Everything was ok until the food was served, but an announced original Wiener Schnitzel has a certain size or weight and is not a maximum of 5mm thick or, better, thin. Serving was relatively quick, but after eating we sat with empty plates for almost an hour. When I asked about the menu for dessert there was no response at all and nothing was brought to drink either.

Been here a few times, the food is always top notch and the service is consistently and without exception excellent.

Overall, very tasty dishes. The “normal” meat and fish dishes and Italian classics are particularly recommended. The Italian dishes with an oriental touch should perhaps remain just Italian. The beautiful fish is wasted on the fresh tuna pizza and I prefer a classic tiramisu to the banana and peanut version. Otherwise we felt comfortable and were served very friendly.

I was here for the fifth time today. Today I also had the menu including accompanying wines. From the starter to the main course to the dessert, the food was once again excellent. The portions are not too small, very attractively arranged and to the point. That's already star-worthy. The accompanying wines were well balanced and also perfectly tempered. All of this for a price of around €60 is absolutely OK. Since I pay attention to consistent quality, I'm only rating now. Result Coherent concept, excellent food and fine wines in this price segment at a fair price. There can only be 5 stars for this. The service is also friendly and you feel completely comfortable.

This hidden gem of a family restaurant offers unique Italian food with an Indian touch. We went there on valentine’s day and it was crowded. We were welcome and treated respectfully by the owner and had an amazing conversation with him. Food was top notch, the pictures speak for themselves! If you’re in the area, please pay it a visit. Wir waren im Sommer schon einige Male im Garten zum Essen, nun das erste Mal innen. Uns hat es super gefallen. Eine feine Küche zu angemessenem Preis. Tolle extra Noten, sei es beim Grünkohl oder den frittierten Erdnüssen,…. Die Karte gut zusammengestellt, der rote Faden ist erkennbar. Der Aperol toll. Service nett, die Tische waren alle schön gedeckt.

A local pearl in Hamburg with excellent service and food that is special. Why? The food is a mix of Hanseatic, Italian and Indian. Depending on which dish you choose. Sounds interesting and unusual - does it taste good? Yes, it does and very well. Food perfectly seasoned and great combination. I've never eaten like this before and it was a great new experience. Thank you for the excellent service. Fast, friendly and very confident despite the high workload.

As a city dweller, the hook rack in the entrance area is simply too unsafe for me. There is no support on the back of the chair. The starters: White tomato soup - super tasty and the finger food was very varied and tasty. For the main course: beef fillet strips with pasta and gorgonzola sauce, everything was perfect. In the case of roast beef, it would be helpful to point out that it is not a fried piece but rather slices. But with fried potatoes and salad it's a delicious meal. Very good value for money. We can really recommend the Charmant.

The name fits! The small restaurant Charmant is really charming. We have known it since 2005 and have been there many times. We also like to visit it with family and friends. The service is always friendly and accommodating. The food is always excellent. With every visit there is an amuse-bouche or -guele, a basket with bread and butter. In addition to the always very good food, we also like the cozy, French-like atmosphere with the dark wooden chairs. After all these years, we will continue to be loyal to this charming place.

Just great! We were there today with 10 people for the Christmas party. We discovered the restaurant by chance as they are one of the few that don't have a day off on Mondays. The restaurant is small but nice. It was well attended. The service was really top. Very attentive but not intrusive. Very friendly. And you could tell that they were trained forces. Gestern Abend dort gegessen. Hervorragend, sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, sehr gemütlich.

Wir bestellten Original Wiener Schnitzel und bekamen 3 kleine Convenience Stücke. Raus aus der Tüte, rein in die Mikro und dann auf den Teller, nicht unser Geschmack. Wir haben das gesagt und bekamen zur Antwort: Nächste Mal wird es besser, worauf wir antworteten: Wir kommen nicht mehr, Antwort: Oder so. Nun ist dieses Restaurant wir uns erledigt, obwohl wir glaubten, endlich ein gutes gefunden zu haben

Als wir noch in die Barclayarena zum Musical wollten, suchten wir über Maps ein in der Nähe liegendes Restaurant und wurden hier im Charmant fündig. Und was sollen wir sagen: Es war toll! Tolles, gut schmeckendes und vielfältiges Essen, ein mega freundlicher Kellner mit kleinen Witzen im Gepäck. Elvis im Hintergrund und auf Wunsch alles in 45 Minuten erledigt. Erdnuss-Hähnchensuppe für 7,50, Fingerdips für 9,90, Penne Carpaccio für 17,90 und Ibericoschwein mit Pürré und Pilzen für irgendwie 22 Euro. Alles hat super geschmeckt. Auch glutenfrei. Gerne wieder.

Die Pizzen und die Gerichte auf der Tageskarte sind auch empfehlenswert.

Tolle Gerichte, ein bisschen etwas anderes. Qualität war wirklich gut und der Preis fair. Habe wirklich nichts zu kritisieren.

Unheimlich leckeres Essen zu fairen Preisen. Nette Atmosphäre, kompetente Bedienung. Wirklich gut! Etwas störend war nur, dass wir nach unserer Hauptspeise wohl vergessen wurden. Aber freundlich nachgefragt stand der Nachtisch schon bald auf unserem Tisch. ;)

Ein sehr schönes kleines Restaurant, im Sommer mit Garten. Wechselnde Menüs und eine vielseitige Speisekarte. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Insgesamt muss man einfach 5 Sterne vergeben, auch wenn ich einige Dinge verbesserungswürdig finde. Begrüßung war sehr nett, aber die Bedienung könnte tatsächlich noch etwas mehr lächeln. Das würde nicht wehtun und würde die Stimmung noch mehr verbessern. Unsere Bedienung kannte sich mit den einzelnen Gerichten und Allergenen/Unverträglichkeiten sehr gut aus und hat entsprechend reagiert und Änderungen empfohlen. Dass das Rinderfilet jetzt gänzlich ohne Sauce kam, fand ich etwas schade, wobei das Rinderfilet auch ohne Sauce sehr gut war. Das Wiener Schnitzel fand ich etwas enttäuschend. Da habe ich schon deutlich bessere Schnitzel gegessen, ebenso Pommes. Gut, aber in so ein Restaurant gehe ich normalerweise auch nicht zum Schnitzelessen. ;-) Die Ingwer-Möhren-Suppe mit dem Spieß war wirklich fantastisch. Getränke waren in Ordnung, vielleicht etwas warm. Da wurde mit Eiswürfeln aber schnell abgeholfen. Der Nachtisch war leider auch in Ordnung, aber jetzt kein Überflieger. Das hausgemachte Eis fand ich jetzt nicht so toll. Ich hatte Rosenblüten-Mandel-Eis. Beim Ambiente muss ich ein Stern abziehen, da es in größerer Runde doch recht eng ist und das Durchtauschen untereinander schwieriger ist. Das keine Parkplätze vor Ort sind, ist leider auch nicht so schön. Preislich insgesamt recht gehoben, aber der fachkundige Service und das gute Essen führen letztendlich zu einer 5-Sterne-Benotung.

Ich hatte zum Ausstand geladen und wir waren 12 Personen. Alles hat super geklappt. Von der Reservierung, über die Bestätigung bis zum Abend selbst. Das Essen war ausnahmslos lecker, die Bedienung aufmerksam und freundlich. Alle Gäste waren zufrieden. Was will man mehr. Auch für grössere Gruppen geeignet.

Wir haben heute mit 8 Erwachsenen und 2 Kleinkindern draußen im Garten gesessen und zu Abend gegessen. Die Speisekarte bietet viele Möglichkeiten bekannte Gerichte mit indischen Noten zu probieren. Alle waren begeistert. Sehr empfehlenswert! Der Service war sehr freundlich! Der Garten gemütlich. Preis-Leistung passt. Wir werden gerne wieder kommen!

Sehr angenehmes Restaurant mit ausgezeichnetem Essen. Das Menü ist immer phantasievoll zusammengestellt und sehr lecker, die Bedienung immer freundlich und diskret. Wir kommen seit einigen Jahren und sind noch nie enttäuscht worden.

Wir waren mit 8 Personen angemeldet. Tisch war fertig eingedeckt. Trotz Bestellung a la carte haben alle ihre Speisen und Getränke so bekommen das alle gemeinsam beginnen konnten. Das Essen war durchweg gut. Keiner der 8 Personen hatte etwas zu bemängeln. Der Inhaber Herr Sing war freundlich aber zurückhaltend. Die männliche Bedienung an dem Abend war auch nett und freundlich - könnte sich aber ein wenig zurücknehmen. Wir kennen das Charmant schon länger und waren sicher das auch eine größere Gruppe dort gut aufgehoben ist.

Restaurant Charmant bei uns um die Ecke, zweiter Versuch. Wir waren vor einigen Jahren schon einmal dort, fanden es „ok“ und haben dem Restaurant eine zweite Chance gegeben. Die erste Rezension ist weiter unten. Das positive vorab, die Preise sind ok, die Kellner waren freundlich. Leider war das Essen wie beim ersten Besuch nicht wirklich überzeugend. Ich möchte nicht auf alles eingehen, aber der „Kartoffel-Gurken-Salat“ zum Schnitzel bestand aus Kartoffelsalat (vermutlich) aus dem Eimer, mit drei Scheiben Gurken. Industrie-Mayo, keine Liebe, nicht dem Anspruch angemessen, der vermittelt wird. Das „Gurken-Carpaccio“ bestand aus fünf dicken Scheiben Gurke und hatte nichts mit einem Carpaccio zu tun. Der „Gruß aus der Küche“ war nett gemeint, aber schon fast lustig - zwei Scheiben Karotte, drei Fitzel Champignon, den Sinn haben wir nicht verstanden… Das Restaurant war voll, wir hatten Glück, dass wir einen Tisch bekommen haben, offensichtlich gefällt es vielen hier! Für uns war es aber nichts, zwei Versuche reichen, wirklich schade.

Vi fandt restauranten lidt tilfældigt - den syner ikke af meget udefra, men vi blev meget positivt overrasket. Det er en virkelig hyggelig lille restaurant, der laver lækker mad - også til børn. Fint udvalg af både mad og vin.

Wir haben phantastisch gegessen, aber eben auch ziemlich teuer. Alles ging schnell und freundlich, nachdem der erste Kellner, der offensichtlich nicht mit uns einverstanden war🤷🏼‍♀️, gewechselt hatte. Insgesamt hat es uns gut gefallen und wir werden wiederkommen.

Charmant ist der richtige Name. Der richtige Name NUR für das Restaurant. Nun komme ich seit fünfzehn Jahren immer wieder mal ins Charmant und jetzt ist wirklich Schluss damit.Wer nur einen Hauch von Gastronomie versteht, der kann das Essen im Charmant hier wirklich als gut beschreiben. Aber wen zum Teufel habt ihr gesehen, wenn ihr über freundliche Bedienung und fachgerechten Service schreibt. In all den Jahren habe ich Herrn Singh noch nicht einmal lachen sehen. Weder bei der Begrüßung noch am Tisch. Meinen Besuch mit sechs Personen gestern um 18:00 Uhr könnte ich hier noch ausführlich darstellen, möchte aber dem Inhaber nicht schaden. Jedenfalls bitte ich alle hier, Wahrheiten zu schreiben und damit auch dem Unternehmen zu helfen. Sehr geehrter Herr Singh, eine ehrliche, freundliche Begrüßung mit einem Lächeln schenkt Wohlgefühl. Das haben Sie in all den Jahren nicht gelernt und die gestrigen Fauxpas sind mehr als geschäftsschädigend !!! Ich kann mich an Gespräche mit Ihnen während des Lockdowns erinnern. Ihnen stand die Angst im Gesicht, das zu Recht. Ein kleiner Tipp zum Schluss. Es ist nicht auszuschließen, dass Sie wieder in diesem Winter Ihr Restaurant nur bedingt betreiben können oder sogar ganz schließen müssen. Dann werden Sie darüber nachdenken und glauben Sie mir bitte, ich habe Sie hier mit der Servicebeurteilung kollegialer Weise verschont.

Nach einem Tierparkbesuch sind wir aufgrund der guten Bewertungen hier spontan eingekehrt. Das 3-Gänge-Menü mit Weinbegleitung hat uns direkt angesprochen. Der Wechsel einer Vorspeise (gratinierte Muscheln statt Entencarpaccio) war kein Problem, ein Gruß aus der Küche (Brot,Butter,herbstliche Antipasti) eröffnete das Menü. Wir wählten beide den tranchierten Hirsch als Hauptgang. Alle Speisen, der dazugewählte Wein und der kompetente, aufmerksame und freundliche Service haben uns rundum begeistert! Auch Ambiente und Preis-Leistung haben uns überzeugt. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Das Ambiente ist bürgerlich. Der Service freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Finger-Food war gut und für den Preis ausreichend. Der Hähnchenbrustsalat war frisch und schmackhaft. Die Lasagne war gut und passend gewürzt und frisch zubereitet. Der Weißwein war von schlichter Struktur, aber sauber. Fazit: das Speisenangebot ist klein, aber qualitativ gut.

Ein italienisches Restaurant mit indischen Einflüssen - so meine Einschätzung als Laie. Die Vorspeisen - Weiße Tomatencremesuppe und Fingerfood - waren sehr lecker und auch unsere Hauptgerichte - Penne mit Carpaccio und Tagliatelle mit Fleischbällchen - standen in dem nichts nach. Absolut empfehlenswert - auch wegen des tollen Service.
