Restaurant & Café Traveblick in Lübeck

This wasn't our first visit, and we've always been satisfied. Today, a Sunday lunchtime during the Travemünde Week, the upper deck was only moderately busy. Nevertheless, we waited well over 30 minutes for our food. My wife's bowl of melon and smoked salmon (€20.90) was well presented and tasty, deserving of four stars. I chose beef liver with mashed potatoes and a topping of onions (€17.90). A mistake. The liver, not even remotely sliced, was seared and fried thoroughly. The onions were tasteless, and the same applies to the mashed potatoes made from potatoes that had been put through a sieve press. If this is snow, then we won't be allowed outside next winter when it rains. All in all, bone dry. They should at least serve a small bowl of gravy with it. The fact that the chef, according to the friendly waitress, probably knows the dish from his home country and prepares it differently than we do is of little consolation. So zero stars for this.

An institution in Travemünde. Great atmosphere, great service, excellent food at reasonable prices. I've been coming here as a vacationer for over 30 years. A flagship for Travemünde. An urgent appeal to the city fathers: It must be preserved as a magnet, and in its current form. Many people visit Travemünde precisely for the view of the Trave. This also benefits the trade, as you can easily combine a visit with a shopping trip.

Unfriendly service and long wait times – our experience at this restaurant was unfortunately very disappointing. When we were seated, an ashtray was placed on our table, even though we were obviously non-smokers. We had to wait a long time for our order, and when we asked for our Alsterwasser, it only arrived after repeated requests. The waiter's comment, "That's what you wanted, right? Yes or no?" was beyond inappropriate. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the staff began to argue and defend themselves instead of apologizing and offering solutions. With that, we left the restaurant without having eaten. Unfortunately, we would not recommend this restaurant.

Fair prices, decent food, nice location on the Trave. It's amazing, though, how small a portion of fried potatoes can be for three people! A dingy atmosphere, with cobwebs and animal feathers hanging from the open-air roof, which is in need of cleaning. The floating restaurant is very dated. You have to be lucky to get a friendly waitress. We had the older model, which appeared after 15 minutes with the note "take it easy." Then, because we weren't sure she'd heard the first part of our order, she lectured the three of us: "Do you want six of that?" No card payments accepted, which fits the restaurant's 1960s look.

Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio and service here are completely off-par. We ordered two cordon bleu portions for almost €20 each and could hardly believe our eyes when the tiny portion arrived, with a few lettuce leaves and no dressing on the plate. The meat was unseasoned and tasted of nothing. We had to share the small bowl of fries, and the dollop of ketchup and mayo that came with it cost extra, of course. We really wondered if it was a senior citizen's plate. The older lady serving wasn't very friendly or cheerful either. Although it wasn't busy, I was brought the wrong drink and other guests were given the wrong food. Most of the tables were reserved, but during our stay (about 1.5 hours), no one came. I can't recommend this restaurant.

Brown, greasy, old lettuce, extremely greasy and cold potatoes, fish that looked like it came from a deep fryer and was over-salted, looked old and poorly presented, and tasted bad either. The coffee is undrinkable.

We visited this interesting floating restaurant twice during our vacation and were absolutely satisfied. The dishes served were delicious (fish, schnitzel, and vegetarian) and the portions were generous. What definitely deserves mention is the magnificent view, especially from the upper level. We would definitely visit the restaurant again on our next visit, but advance reservations are recommended.

It's easy to miss, but then you're out of luck: Very, very delicious food in a rustic atmosphere. It was fun, and we'll be happy to come back.

Rudeness is one thing, but this was the height of rudeness! A minute after ordering, we politely asked if we could switch to the daily special (same fish and side dishes). The response was indescribable. That was the third and final act of insolence from this person – we immediately left the restaurant. How can someone fail at their job like that!?

We loooooove this restaurant! Very good, friendly, family-like service, very good, delicious food, and then the view outside...!!!! You sit in a boat, look out over the Trave and the big ships sail by, amazing, we've been there three times already and always find it beautiful.

Here, you eat on a boat with a stunning view of the water and other ships. The food—most people had plaice—was excellent. The staff is super friendly. Definitely a recommendation. 👍🏼

Simple restaurant on the water. The service was nice, courteous and helpful. It was moderately busy that evening. It was easy to let your eyes wander and watch the ships passing by I would describe the cuisine as simple, down-to-earth, perhaps a bit old school, but with heart. My soup lacked a bit of sophistication and was a bit too thick. My herring fillet with fried potatoes was very tasty, some of the fried potatoes could have been a little crispier. Overall it was ok, the atmosphere was nice, you could switch off for a moment.

We are at short notice due to... Had dinner. We received a super friendly welcome even though it was full. The food was sensational, May plaice was eaten, very tender and tasty. We came here today in the off-season. From the outside it looks rustic, but some of the dishes are interpreted in a modern way, like the Ostseebowl that I ordered. The dishes were really delicious and you could tell that all the ingredients were fresh and of very good quality. You can't complain about the value for money here at all! There was also a season ticket, which is not a given. The service was wonderful too. Friendly and quick service. Although there is a lot of competition in the area, we can imagine eating here again.

The restaurant makes a nice impression at first glance, but unfortunately the food was rather mixed. Unfortunately, the meat was mediocre - a bit tough and not particularly well seasoned. The fish, on the other hand, was okay, fresh and tasted quite solid. What should definitely be highlighted positively is the friendly service, which made an effort despite the full house. A real negative point, however, was the long waiting time - we had to wait quite a long time for both the food and the bill. Overall okay, but with room for improvement.

Great location to eat and drink on the water. You can sit both inside and outside. The service is quick. A little asking and attention after serving would be nice. No questions, no clearing away. The food was well crafted and tasted good, but the small portion size doesn't represent a good price ratio. Three small steaks with potatoes for almost 26 euros is too much for me.

Worth a visit! View of the ships and great food! Prices are right.

We had fried herrings with fried potatoes and a cucumber salad. There is also a senior plate. It was very tasty and recommended. The service is friendly and accommodating.

Good cuisine and price performance is also OK. When the weather is nice you can sit on the deck and watch what's going on on the shopping street and on the water and enjoy the sun.

An all-round lovely restaurant visit with a genuine view of the Trave River. The location, the view, and the somewhat dated but positively charming ambiance made the dining experience truly special. The service was very friendly, not intrusive, but warm. The prices are entirely reasonable considering the restaurant's location, portion size, and taste. They offer fresh fish, well-known classics, and vegetarian dishes.

A great, because unusual restaurant, after more than 25 years it is already a certain landmark of Travemünde. The food is good and the staff is friendly, even the four-legged friend gets a bowl of water. No matter whether you sit inside or outside, you always have the best view of ships passing by. The big landmark, the four-masted barque PASSAT, is not far opposite. It's just a shame that the restaurant will soon be closing forever. The current operator will soon retire and the Hanseatic city of Lübeck is inexplicably making the sale difficult. Those responsible should be ashamed😥 My guess is that this floating cafe and restaurant is about to lose its berth with all force. Since the city wants to convert the cruise ship terminal for larger ships, the Traveblick has to go. The last mayors all had a monument built for themselves at some point. Disgusting

Very good food, I would happily recommend it

We had a delicious meal here this evening! My partner Hamburger Schnitzel and I had a good fish soup and redfish on savoy cabbage! It's a great atmosphere, the huge ferries pass by on the Trave!

Rarely was served so unfriendly by an older lady on Sunday evening on March 2nd, 2025 at around 7 p.m. No kind word, no smile, no how did it taste and no wish for a nice evening. Ambience good and food okay.

Best view, fair prices, nice service. You sit in the front row on the restaurant ship and enjoy the all -round view of the hustle and bustle in the harbor. The cuisine is down-to-earth and good. We were very satisfied. Top price/performance ratio.

Had dinner here today, unfortunately our son had to leave straight away because he felt sick from the very slight rocking of the restaurant. However, we didn't notice much of the rocking. I would like to highlight the service. We had already ordered food and our son was able to take his food to the apartment on a plate, thank you very much for that! The staff were very friendly and helpful, I was even shown how to fillet plaice. The ambience is something very special, the ships passing by are amazing!!! Keep it up!!

A find on the side of the road. Friendly service, the food (4x crispy schnitzel) was very tasty and generous portions at a moderate price. One star deducted because of the very long wait for our food, but as a vacationer there's no rush unless the parking meter is about to expire, the car had to be parked a little outside and the public order office is everywhere.

We felt extremely comfortable here. A great place to “watch ships” and fortify yourself or quench your thirst. The service team is friendly and committed, the food is delicious. We got one of the last free tables, so a reservation seems advisable.

Beautifully located restaurant on a panoramic ship directly on the Trave. The menu offers many fish dishes, but also various meat dishes. It's best to reserve a table, even in the low season. The service is old school and was quite friendly. The drinks came to the table quickly and the dishes also in a reasonable time. In terms of taste, the dishes were rather okay. The fried potatoes were fried differently, some not cooked through or burnt. The herring was very salty. When the service was pointed out, no understanding was conveyed. The portion size is good.

By chance we discovered the ship's restaurant yesterday; everything on the promenade was very busy and very hectic. We did everything right when we went to this cozy restaurant for the first time on Friday the 13th, even if we didn't have a reservation. But we just got the last table for two with a direct view of the Trave: simply fantastic. We were served quickly and very friendly, always with a smile on our faces. Our food came really quickly, everything was appetizingly prepared and you could taste the fresh preparation. What a culinary delight! Highly recommended: the zander rolls. When we are in Travemünde again, we will definitely let ourselves be pampered HERE again.

Wir haben alles richtig gemacht, als wir am Freitag, den 13. zum 1. Mal in diesem gemütlich eingerichteten Restaurant waren, wenn auch ohne Reservierung. Aber wir bekamen grad noch den letzten 2-er Tisch mit direktem Blick auf die Trave: einfach traumhaft. Wir wurden zügig und sehr freundlich bedient, stets mit nem Lächeln im Gesicht. Unser Essen kam wirklich schnell, alles war appetitlich angerichtet und man schmeckte die frische Zubereitung. Welch ein kulinarischer Genuss! Sehr zu empfehlen: das Zanderröllchen. Wenn wir mal wieder in Travemünde sind, werden wir uns garantiert HIER wieder verwöhnen lassen.

Dear Traveblick team, the Traveblick must definitely be preserved! What would Travemünde be without the Traveblick, which has been on the Trave since 2001? For us, Traveblick is the first place to go out to eat. We have been visiting the restaurant several times a year since 2020 and have already eaten in many other restaurants in Travemünde. But the Traveblick is one of the last restaurants where everything is still made from scratch. Here everything is prepared fresh and with love - it is chopped by hand and there are no convenience goods. This can sometimes lead to longer waiting times, especially because the galley is not very large and the restaurant consists of two ships assembled together. But that's exactly what makes the Traveblick so special: you're here to enjoy and not be in a hurry. That's why it's our favorite restaurant and one we always go to in Travemünde. We are all the sadder about the news that reservations will no longer be accepted for 2025. It looks like no one will be able to take over the restaurant. The owner has to take care of her family and no longer has the strength to continue running the restaurant. We would therefore like to urgently ask that all options be examined in order to preserve the Traveblick. It is an important part of our Travemünde world of experience and has a special meaning for many of us. Since it is a unique restaurant that has a permanent place in the hearts of many visitors and locals alike, it would of course be a shame if such a special piece of Travemünde were lost. Perhaps a solution can still be found through joint commitment.

At first you might think it's a tourist trap because it's a "parked houseboat". But as soon as you try the delicious food and experience the nice and competent waitresses, you will be convinced of the opposite and will always be happy to come back! Bravo!

Wir waren mit 3 Paaren am 11.09. zum Abendessen im Traveblick. Von der Reservierung an waren alle sehr freundlich und nett. Das Restaurant, ein altes Schiff direkt auf der Trave - sehr schön. Die Bestellungen der Getränke und Speisen gingen in angenehmer Ruhe von Statten, was sich auch in der Abfolge des servieren der Vor-, und und Hauptspeisen fortsetzte - es war sehr angenehm, dass die Hauptspeise mit genügend zeitlichem Abstand zur Vorspeise serviert wurde! Wir hatten verschiedene Vor-, und Hauptspeisen (Fisch, Fleisch) - alle waren sehr zufrieden, so dass ich nicht eine einzelne herausstellen könnte - alle waren von guter Qualität, gut und lecker zubereitet. Trotz dem wir fast die Letzten waren, wurden wir nicht "hinauskomplementiert", sondern geduldig und immer nett bedient! Vielen Dank ans Team!

As ordered, rump steak was medium rare and excellent. Roast beef very very good. Everything was very well prepared, the staff was attentive and friendly and the view and location were unique.

Reservations were made in advance. The location and the ambience are really good! Unfortunately, the good impression was gone after we waited over an hour for our food and unfortunately it was also cold. Instead of understanding and apologizing, the reaction was insulted and rude! I've never given a meal back before but that was really cheeky in their entire dealings with us! Conclusion: inadequate and never again!!!

Went there for dinner for the first time and were surprised that we were able to get a seat even though there were a lot of reservations. So it's better to reserve in advance so you're sure to get a spot. The service was also very quick and very polite. The food was served after a short time and it tasted very tasty. So we'll be back and the view is really great.

If you sit outside you have a fantastic view of the harbor and big boats :-) The food was also very, very good!! We had the plaice and were thrilled. Die Karte des Restaurants überzeugt mit vielfältiger Kulinarik. Hier ist für jeden was dabei! Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war top! Dazu hat es auch sehr gut geschmeckt und auf der Sonnenterasse des Restaurants schmeckt es bei schönem Wetter besonders gut. Die Kellnerinnen machten zudem einen sehr guten Job! Klare Empfehlung des Restaurants !

Our favorite restaurant in Travemünde. Staff warm and attentive, cuisine traditional but with a twist. I've never been disappointed, but I've often been pleasantly surprised. If you don't mind light waves, you'll get your money's worth here. The only minor drawback: the espresso isn't that good.

My roast beef with fried potatoes was half the normal portion. I can judge this because I order this very often. The tartar sauce wasn't homemade, which is a shame. Fried potatoes were way too greasy. That doesn't match the price-performance ratio, but our service was very nice and made everything right again. Thank you very much, dear service team, you are overwhelmed, but still very friendly, despite the stress and I wish you all the best!

Nice restaurant in itself, with a good menu. Unfortunately, the outdoor area is a bit rocky due to the water and we weren't allowed to sit inside because we just wanted to drink something

We got a table for 2 people... The other tables were supposedly reserved from 6 p.m., but no one came. A larger party arrived after us... but cheekily, even though we had ordered everything, they were served before us. They were asked several times whether it tasted good etc... The company also cleared things up quickly... only when we paid, when we were then asked if we would like anything else... We decided against it. We weren't even asked. We were probably only tolerated for 62 euros. The food was generally good: bruschetta with shrimp very good; my crispy schnitzel was good too; My husband had the Hamburger Schnitzel with fried potatoes... it was completely unseasoned. Otherwise the restaurant is nicely set up and cozy. Were very disappointed with this way.... Presumably the owners are not dependent on new guests who are not regulars. But we definitely don't go to this place... because there are plenty of good places.

Wonderful food and great service

We discovered the Schiff Traveblick restaurant while walking. Despite the high season, we got a table without any problems. The ambience is wonderful. On a ship, inside or outside, with the best view of the water. Impressive when a ferry passes by. The staff is friendly and attentive. Change requests are implemented without any problems. The food is probably called good bourgeois. There is fish and meat. Salads, etc. I was able to have my Hamburger Schnitzel customized to my liking. The fish was also good. Portions generous. The prices are ok too. I can only warmly recommend the restaurant to every visitor to Travemünde. Thank you for a lovely evening

It doesn't look very inviting from the outside, However, once you sit on the sun terrace with this great view it is pleasant. Plus the very attentive and friendly staff. From that point on we were totally satisfied and glad that we hadn't trusted the first impression. But the big surprise, the food. Excellent, very tasty. Rarely eaten so well. We visit this restaurant regularly when we are on the way to Finland or on a short vacation in Travemünde. Beautiful view and delicious food! We will be back.

Super friendly service. Great location. The restaurant itself is getting a bit old. There were some compromises in the dishes. Small portions (a handful of fried potatoes per person). Seasoning rather bland. Vegetables prepared with a lot of fat. You can understand the restaurant's search for a new chef ;-).

We spontaneously returned without a reservation and got a table for two. We each ate fish and meat, both were very good and tasty. The service is super friendly and nice. You shouldn't let yourself be irritated by the impression that the gastro ship is a little outdated. We would love to come back again.

We were skeptical at first, but when we ventured into the not-so-appealing Schiff restaurant, we received a very friendly welcome. A place on the terrace was quickly found after consulting with the friendly waitress about whether the seagulls were robbing here. There's something for everyone on the menu, but since we're on the coast we of course ordered fish. My wife chose the housewife-style matjes and I chose the fish platter. The food came in a reasonable time and I have to say that the portions were good, you don't leave the ship hungry here. My fish platter consisted of three types of fish fillets fried with a side salad and fried potatoes. The fish was super fried, not fried to death, just as it should be, still nice and juicy and the fried potatoes were crispy with bacon and onions. Simply delicious. My wife had three matjes with cream sauce and a side salad as well as fried potatoes. This dish was also very good, the herring was nice and tender. All in all, a great restaurant that I can recommend without hesitation. Take a look, it's worth it.

On the water with the best view. Service very good. Once redfish with sugar snap peas, that was great. Once in Travemünde fish pot, the fish was okay but the fried potatoes were extremely oily. Since it was quite a lot anyway, my husband poked around in it a bit, but didn't want to finish it either.
