Flammkuchen with Pfifferlingen (chanterelles), onion, and cheese—delicious! And bratwurst with potato salad. A wide selection of beers. Very friendly service, so all in all, highly recommended!

Unfortunately, we had to wait almost an hour for our food, even though we had only ordered cheese spaetzle and turkey schnitzel with spaetzle. They weren't freshly prepared either, as the food arrived lukewarm. People who ordered after us received their food much sooner...

Four of us went to this restaurant today – two of them vegetarians, one of whom is lactose intolerant. The manager herself (judging by her demeanor) helped us find a solution, and because the fried potatoes we requested were sold out, she even went out to bring them again. That was impressively friendly. Even though there was a misunderstanding when ordering a different dish, all the dishes served were excellent! Everything was freshly prepared, perfectly cooked, and pleasantly seasoned. The beer was also very tasty, and the atmosphere was great. We're considering changing our vacation plans so we can eat here another evening. Thank you for the lovely evening and your flexibility!

Horrible experience. We ordered steak with salad and potatoes. The meat was in poor condition. We left the entire steak. It tasted like beef liver. We had to go to the emergency room because it made my stomach hurt so much. We ended up with food poisoning. Terrible experience and terrible service from the waiters. It took more than 15 minutes to bring our drinks. I do not recommend this at all. To be exact, we were there yesterday, July 5, 2025, and we paid at 10:42 PM. It was like throwing money away. Terrible service, terrible customer service, terrible hygiene. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR EATING IN BADENWEILER. I would much rather go to Markgräfler Winzerstuben or Ribs and More Müllheim. They definitely care about providing quality food and excellent service.

Dinner on July 5, 2025 – A very bad experience. I ordered a meat dish that tasted of liver and refrigerator food – clearly spoiled. The service was inattentive and unhelpful. During the meal, I experienced severe pain in my upper abdomen, forcing me to get up, pay, and leave immediately. I reported the incident to the health authorities. I will not be returning.

We stumbled upon the town of Badenweiller by chance. What a surprise! The Rathskeller restaurant was just a few minutes from our accommodation. We received a very warm welcome, and the flammenkueche was exquisite. The bucolic setting was a huge plus for this restaurant, as we were seated on the terrace, surrounded by trees and flowers. We highly recommend this lovely place to eat.

If you are in Badenweiler you have to go to the Ratskeller, the food is plentiful and very tasty, the staff is friendly and very on the ball. The apple strudel is highly recommended as a dessert.

I have been a regular at Ratskeller for several years, I love going there after a session at the Cassiopeia Thermal Baths. In addition to being ideally located near the thermal baths, the Ratskeller agrees to serve us quite late, even after 9 p.m. The service is always pleasant and French-speaking (the menus are also translated into French). Small change compared to my last visits, Italian cuisine (Pizza for example) is no longer offered. Indeed, according to the waiter, the owners decided to concentrate on traditional German cuisine and leave the Italian cuisine in their other restaurant, located 100 m away, at the Othello. Rather accustomed to pizza, we took the opportunity to try typical local dishes with black forest ham and fried potatoes. For dessert, I recommend the Apfelstrudel (apple puff pastry cake served hot) accompanied by a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream. Last point, the cellar room is very pleasant but the outdoor terrace is also very nice and quiet.

Wir sind am Freitag Abend spontan nach der Therme in den Ratskeller. Es war schon 21 Uhr (Warme Küche bis 21:30 Uhr), wir waren 7 Personen (4 Erwachsene u. 3 Kinder) und hatten keine Reservierung! Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und haben einen schönen großen Tisch bekommen. Das Essen war mega lecker, der Koch weiß was er tut. Das Personal super freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir empfehlen es sehr gerne weiter und kommen bald wieder. Danke.

The service was friendly and quick, and I'm happy to give it 5 stars for that. We found the restaurant itself a bit uncomfortable. There was no mention of pizza or pasta on the menu. The food we got was not appropriate for the price (too expensive). The salad was carelessly prepared, as was the main course. At home the misery began... upset stomach and eating backwards were a "nice" side effect. We will therefore no longer visit or recommend this restaurant.

Our visit to the restaurant today left mixed impressions. Particularly positive features include the impeccable cleanliness, the cozy and inviting atmosphere and the extremely friendly and courteous staff. We felt like we were in good hands here as guests. Unfortunately the quality of the food was disappointing. The seasoning of all the dishes was unpleasant and not well balanced, and several components of the dishes had a very strange aftertaste that greatly impaired the enjoyment. The prices were also significantly too high for what was on offer. Particularly worrying: one of our companions complained of severe nausea about an hour after the visit, which further clouded the overall impression. Unfortunately, the two stars we give are ultimately for the poor food, as this is the main aspect of a restaurant. Despite the positive circumstances, the overall visit was not convincing.

It was the only place open that looked okay, food is what you expect in a restaurant like this, not fine dining but good overall though a bit pricey in my opinion for what it is. Service is good, waitresses were helpful.

Were there over Easter and were unfortunately greeted quite rudely with a snout. Apparently we arrived around closing time (which we unfortunately didn't realize straight away). We were then allowed to order a pizza to take away, which was good. Plus two cocktails. And I have to say: not edible. When the waitress asked how it was, we were honest and said we could add less cane sugar (we had lumps of sugar in our mouths). Due to the poor mixing, the cocktail tasted like pure alcohol. We were then rejected with a simple “I always do it like that”. Not a very good critical reception. As a little feedback: if the customer's opinion is not interesting, it's better not to ask at all. And it's better to say too much that you're closed than to serve people with an after-work snack.

Ratskeller can be found in almost every German city, as well as the Chinese, Italians and Greeks. During my visit to Badenweiler, I discovered the local Ratskeller with its sunny summer terraces and, even as a long-time gastronomy consultant, had to revise my previous prejudice about Ratskeller. The interior, how could it be otherwise, located in the basement, is extremely cozy and inviting. Separate seating niches offer privacy if desired and the menu reflects traditional cuisine from delicious soups, market-fresh salads, pasta dishes to various Italian pizzas and steak, everything your heart and appetite desires... and all at an impressive speed and fantastic value for money. For me the steak was unbeatable, cooked to perfection and of indescribable quality. The service staff, here I would like to highlight the extremely talented employee Janine, were always friendly, in a good mood and quick, even when they were at full capacity. The boss was always on site and watched over the guests, service and food with watchful eyes... like a conductor over his orchestra... that's how you can only feel good as a guest. An absolute recommendation and a must for every visitor to Badenweiler... it is guaranteed that you will not stop at just one visit. I'll definitely be back and take my hat off to such a gastronomic achievement!!

Here the food becomes worse when it is too crowded. That was what the waitress said. It's called Ratskeller, but it's more Italian. Pizza and pasta. There are also meat dishes, but they are very expensive. Non-alcoholic drinks are mostly only available in size 0.33. Half a liter of beer is cheaper than half a liter of water. The pizza tasted okay. But extremely large and large margins. Too much tomato sauce and the base was so thin that the whole pizza was just soggy. When we asked if everything was okay, we just said: I'm sorry, have a nice evening and that's probably because there's a lot going on at the moment. Hmm, I think you can expect the quality to be consistent. Otherwise the service was mostly friendly and the ambience was also fine.

We spent a week in Badenweiler on a motorcycle tour and tried out a few restaurants. The Ratskeller was by far the best restaurant. A very good kitchen with meat dishes, salad, pizza and pasta. There were seven of us and we all chose different dishes. All dishes were completely satisfactory. In addition, the waitresses, led by a real Berlin snout, were very courteous and attentive. We will definitely come back here on our next tour. Thank you very much for this great hospitality!!!

The restaurant is great. The service was nice and quick. The food, which came really quickly after ordering even though it was busy, was absolutely amazing. We inhaled the pizza with ham, the pizza with asparagus and Angus fillet pieces was also really well made and the homemade lasagne was to die for. Since the portion is really generous, we took the rest of the lasagna home with us and will definitely come back next time.

Steak deserves +5*!!! Salads have a great dressing and are super fresh! Great service! Attentive, even special requests were kindly accepted and implemented. It wasn't very busy, but it was just before the kitchen closed and yet everyone was very friendly. Only the interior was a bit old... but still had the cozy charm of a Ratskeller. On Sunday, April 28th, 2024, we had an aperitif in this great town hall cellar and were able to enjoy the wonderful tarte flambée. We were thrilled by this ambience and the service!!! We will highly recommend them and are already looking forward to having a meal with them soon!!!!!

The restaurant in the middle of Badenweiler offers a rustic atmosphere. The menu offers many classics such as pizza, steak, spaghetti carbonara, etc. Everyone will find something here. If you're looking for unusual food, you'll have to look elsewhere. The Tonno pizza I ate was very tasty and served quickly. The side salad was also very good, but it was a bit expensive at €7.40. In principle, the Ratskeller is recommended.
