The conditions were friendly but there doesn't seem to be any distribution of tables. That's why people were often asked. The food was OK but unfortunately the portions were too small and mine was missing salt and pepper.

It's been a long time since we've eaten at Athens. Both the restaurant and the service remained as good and warm as we were used to. We were a group of 7 people and almost everyone enjoyed it. For my part, I had the lamb chops, which were perfect. The gyro was also a hit. However, everyone's souvlaki was a bit too hard/done and very little seasoned. The Bifteki was also well received. Unfortunately, none of us enjoyed the espresso afterwards. All in all we ate and drank well. It's definitely worth a visit!!!

The food was rather satisfactory in terms of price/performance ratio. The taste and preparation were rather mediocre, although the appearance suggested higher expectations. The tzatziki, for example, by no means had a taste that suggested it had been produced in-house. It was more like the taste that was straight out of Metro's freezer. The operation and service clearly (!) have room for improvement and are in great need of improvement. Considering the pricing and cost, I should have expected better quality. The restaurant is not big, but not small either. It's always beautifully prepared. I recommend making a reservation if you want to visit this restaurant on busy days. At least for us there will be no repeat in this restaurant.

Visiting Cologne. We decided on this restaurant. Was a very good choice. The taste is great and can hardly be compared to other restaurants. Service totally friendly and forthcoming. Will come again. Price performance ratio is also very good.

The food is okay and the service is friendly, the portion size is average (a bread basket was served with the starter dishes pictured). Since the drinks prices are no longer within acceptable limits, 5.40 for a 0.4 liter. Spezi (liter price therefore 13.50 euros), I therefore only give it 3 stars.

After some difficulties in terms of service and kitchen, which were clearly noticeable after the lock-down, everything is now back to the usual quality. The staff is super friendly and the food tastes excellent. Very clear recommendation. Reservation recommended.

We wanted to come for dinner on a Saturday evening, but unfortunately we didn't have a reservation. We made a reservation on Sunday for Monday, but that wasn't even necessary at 6 pm ;). We were the first and the service was good and fast! We were very satisfied!

After the failure at Limani, we were very satisfied here. The food is excellent, the service is warm and quick and the restaurant is small but nice. Anyone who appreciates good Greek food at realistic prices is in good hands here.

My husband and I saw this beautifully decorated restaurant with a traditional feel and decided to stop in. They were completely booked up but made an accommodation for us by rearranging a display table. They were so friendly, multilingual, and welcoming! To top it off, the food was AMAZING! My husband got the pork fillet with mushroom sauce and rice, and I got the steak fillet with fries. The meat was cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh and crisp. The wine was a great match. Perfect surprise for our night out.

A Greek who leaves nothing to be desired. Great dishes, everything very tasty. Service very friendly and very attentive. It's a shame that the phone is often unmanned during the day and it's so difficult to make a reservation. But that's also a good sign. Athens is a popular place to visit on a regular basis. We have been coming to this restaurant for about 30 years. Now we live in Bavaria, when we are in Cologne we always come back. The food is simply great and the nicest restaurant boss.

Had a very nice meal at Athen's. The souvlaki and gyros are of very good quality. Highly recommended if you don't want a traditional bratwurst or schnitzel.

As Cologne residents, we have been eating here for 13 years. There's always a lot going on in the restaurant, which speaks for itself. It's always delicious and fresh, the french fries are the best in Cologne! Personally, I don't need any frills, I attach great importance to the quality of the food. Whether lamb, gyros or tzatziki with fresh bread - the dishes are cooked and seasoned to perfection. We always like to come back!

We were a little disappointed that despite making a reservation and showing up on time, we were sent away with the comment: “Try again in half an hour as we have a few group reservations today.” After half an hour we had a nice place. The bifteki was delicious, but the plate was very poorly presented. Unfortunately a somewhat disappointing visit...

I have have been here a couple of times, both for business and private occasions. I was always presented with very good food, served by a super friendly team. The prices are not super cheap, but OK for a good restaurant in this location - which is very convenient close to Heumarkt in the old town of Cologne. I will definitely go there again when in Cologne.

Imagine having a super attentive staff, delicious food and fair value for money, only to be unable to offer at least 1 vegetarian main dish in a modern city like Cologne in 2024. If you asked, you were then referred to the supplements. Everything was basically great, but the fact that one of our group could only eat side dishes somehow spoiled the whole thing a bit.

Are just visiting Cologne. This Greek guy was closest to our hotel and also had good google reviews. Unfortunately, we both have to say that we didn't really feel welcome. And neither of us really liked the food, unfortunately it was very bland and tasteless. We wouldn't recommend it.

We were there for the first time last night spontaneously around 7 p.m. When we asked if there was still a table available, we were assigned a nice seat. We each ordered an El Greco platter, consisting of 1 pork steak, 1 souvlaki, gyros, French fries, tzatziki and salad and various drinks. That evening the employees seemed a bit overwhelmed. People were asked to move at short notice... Two couples who had reserved a table for four were asked to be patient outside. One of the two males then got a little loud and said, slightly angry, "It's the second time." Until then everything was fine for us. We shook our heads slightly at the incident and were surprised that the two couples were waiting outside. When the food was served around 7:20 p.m., the staff forgot the salad (we later found out why the salad was "deliberately" not served and more on that in a moment). The food was impeccable up until a certain point. When we ordered an ouzo around 7:45 p.m., it was forgotten, which can happen sometimes. This was then served upon request and at the same time we were told that we had to leave at 8 p.m. In a way we fell away from the faith... Was that why there was no salad????!!!!! We took our time eating for more than half an hour. Intended... We left the restaurant around 8:25 p.m. What the hell was that about?! Have you ever heard of kindness?! All in all, there should be 5 clear negative points for staying in the restaurant. There's nothing more to say about that.

This was our second time there and we didn't regret it. Super tasty typical Greek food and very friendly and attentive service. We would love to come back…(the gyros are so delicious!!!!). The only drawback is the location: it is very central, but parking is really difficult (public transport is recommended).

We are from Berlin and were looking for an authentic Greek restaurant in Berlin ourselves but couldn't find it. This week in Cologne and discovered the Greek restaurant here and Lenie was a great hostess and thus we experienced one of the best Greek restaurants in a long time. The service was very warm and friendly and the food was excellent. We recommend.

Good Greek restaurant If, like me, after two days you are already bored of beer and sausages, this small restaurant offers a pleasant oasis where you can taste healthier and tastier foods, perhaps accompanied by a good bottle of Greek wine. Recommended and convenient to reach on foot from the center of Cologne in 10 minutes.

Wir waren recht spät spontan da , wurden aber super freundlich empfangen und haben auch noch was zuessen bekommen . Sehr zu empfehlen auch die Leber als Tagesempfehlung. Wir würden wieder hingehen.

Es gibt keinen besseren Griechen...

Mittlerweile enttäuschend. Wir kommen seit langem schon hierher, aber das war jetzt das letzte Mal. Die Preise sind immer teurer geworden, was in Ordnung wäre, wenn die Qualität stimmen würde. Das Fleisch war aber knorpelig und trocken, zum Abgewöhnen. Der Lachs und die vegetarischen Vorspeisen waren lecker, aber auch hier sind die Portionen kleiner als früher (z.B. jetzt nur noch 4 Dolmadakia (Reis in Weinblättern) statt früher 5 und ohne die leckere Zitronensauce). Der Service war wirklich schlecht. Wir waren mit Kleinkind mit Reservierung extra um halb sechs da, damit es nicht zu spät wird, haben die Hauptspeise extra schon vor Erhalt der Vorspeise bestellt und mussten trotzdem noch eine Stunde darauf warten. Eine freundliche Entschuldigung hätte uns schon besänftigt, stattdessen der Vorwurf, wir hätten das schon direkt beim Bestellen sagen müssen... is' klar. Früher bekam man auch einen Ouzo angeboten, gibt es auch nicht mehr. Viel zu wenig Personal, sehr unentspannt. Wirklich schade, wir waren jahrelang Stammgäste und werden uns jetzt ein anderes griechisches Restaurant suchen.

Wir haben den Räuberteller gegessen. Gyros war ok, der Fleischspies war trocken wie Leder die Pommes waren sehr gut aber so wenig (eine kleine Hand voll ) mehr waren es nicht . Für das Geld viel zu wenig !

In Athen's Restaurant am Heumarkt wird Gastfreundschaft großgeschrieben. Die Inhaberin, Heleni, und ihr gesamtes Team sind außerordentlich aufmerksam und äußerst freundlich. Das Essen ist von herausragender Qualität, und mein persönlicher Favorit ist das Gyros, insbesondere das Gyros Metaxa, und das köstliche Tzatziki mit Pitabrot als Vorspeise. Die Atmosphäre ist ebenso einladend wie herzlich, und in meinen Augen bietet dieses Restaurant das beste Gyros in Köln. Ein Besuch bei Athen's Restaurant ist stets ein kulinarischer Genuss und ein wahrer Gewinn für die Sinne.

The service and food was just wonderful. We had tzatziki, Greek salad and lamb rack. The meat was just perfect. Loved it.

The food was good enough. Although, it does not have a variety of foods and the taste of the souvlaki was not greek at al. It is not a restaurant that reminds of greek flavours and greek vibe. At the payment they made a mistake and they did not know how to explain in it in English they were speaking in german. I could not understand what they were saying and they did not try to solve the mistake. There are way better greek restaurants with a big variety of foods and better staff. The waiter was laughing every time i was saying thank you, not in a good way. definitely not a way of tasting the amazing greek food and have an idea of the greek ' filoxenia'.
