Restaurant Athen in Dresden

As always, it tasted very good. 02/19/2025 The waiters stink of sweat and the food no longer tastes good. But the prices are much higher. That's how I imagine "good gastronomy".

This fine Greek restaurant is now the best in Dresden. At least for us. Although we are unfortunately quite hesitant when it comes to drink prices. The prices for the food are manageable and really good. This is also more expensive in Dresden. It tastes very tasty and the portions are, as usual, large and deliciously seasoned. The atmosphere is cozy, nicely decorated and not too loud when the tables are full. Everyone is polite and courteous. You feel very comfortable and welcome. You will be asked whether everything is OK. is whether you still have wishes. Thank you very much, we always like to come by 😀

Very nice restaurant, friendly service and the food, unfortunately radically deteriorated. Apart from the increase in prices, the quality went down sharply. Example "Bifteki", in contrast to the last visit, the Bifteki is much smaller in size, carelessly fried on the outside, too light. Instead of cheese there is now too much tomato filling. Last but not least, the taste is bland and Greek spice is completely missing. You can also save yourself a lot on food. Consequence, you change the Greek restaurant and save even more money. It's a shame, at the wrong end, the taste was saved.

It was definitely better, one waiter was arrogant, only nice to the neighboring table with the women... For a handful of fries and chicken, 20€, another fries ordered to fill you up, then 3x mayonnaise was charged extra... Of course you still got a generous tip because the other waiter was nice, but first try other Greek food. Thanks

We decided at short notice to go out for dinner on Saturday evening. Called at 7 p.m. and an effort was made to find a place. It worked, the service was very friendly and the food was also delicious.

Despite its size, a very cozy restaurant with simply well-organized service. That means that in terms of the time interval between our appearance, taking a seat and serving the salad or main course, everything went perfectly. The food itself was also very good with completely sufficient quantities, highly recommended.

Now a native Greek. You are always warmly welcomed and everyone is very accommodating. Food is always there. After the renovation some time ago it became a really nice shop.

Very tasty food, super friendly staff. The staff really stands out compared to other restaurants. I think the dining room is pretty full with chairs and tables. But I understand. You just want to get the most out of the room.

The food was very tasty and the staff were friendly. It is recommended to reserve a table, but it still worked out with the seats when we spontaneously wanted to go out for something to eat.

We were in Athens in August '24 and were very impressed. Friendly staff and the food was freshly prepared and tasted excellent!!!

Completely overpriced, arrogant woman jumping around in there. Probably the boss. The coconut sundae that is on the menu is served without coconut. When you ask, you get the stupid answer that there is currently no coconut available anywhere in Germany. And the typical Greek taste is also missing from the mini portions. Wasted money. Never again. Zero points if that were possible. I give the one mandatory point that you have to give here for the sometimes nice waiters. Those were the days when the first Greek restaurants opened in Dresden. Sometimes you were already full of salad. Today you get some grated carrots, an iceberg lettuce leaf and a slice of cucumber and tomato. Nothing learned from the pandemic...

Very very tasty. Have been here twice now. Service very fast, sometimes too fast. Enjoy the starter and then the main course will be served... The dishes are well prepared, so try them at least once.

Delicious as always. Service and friendliness are also excellent! The only small point of criticism: the guest only finds out when paying that only EC cards are accepted. That was different and is no longer up to date...

The food was very tasty and the atmosphere was also very pleasant. We celebrated our birthday there and also made reservations. The only annoying thing was that we were rudely asked by a guest (with an infant) to clear the table because we would have been waiting for half an hour. A no go, in my opinion. The table was NOT designated so that it would be reserved afterwards, and being chased up like that (you couldn't even drink in peace) was really annoying in my opinion and unfortunately it didn't end the evening well.

It was a very nice evening and I have nothing to complain about 😉. We had the lamb shanks, which are always delicious. There really isn't much room for improvement in terms of price, especially when it comes to drinks, until we have to stop visiting regularly....

We have been here several times and always very satisfied. The service is attentive and friendly. All starters and main courses tried were tasteful. The lamb shank with beans is particularly recommended.

Relative to other Greek restaurants here in Dresden, and the food quality was sub standard - orange juice, the Greek sauce, rice, fish, prawns and even the calamari. The service and feedback wasn’t cordial. The atmosphere is great and is quite spacious.

Edit (2024-05-04) after noticing owner's response: My boyfriend wanted to rewrite my edit/response to the owner's response as he remembers how offended I was by how we were being treated and feels there were some things needing clarification: Seeing the owner's response pinning it on us supposedly telling them "We will maybe come" leaves a strange aftertaste. 1.: Us calling (pretty late, point given) to ask for a free table (=reservation, anyone?) and, after being told "be here after 20:30, we will have free tables by then", telling them we will come and then showing up a little before 20:30 to me doesn't seem like an ambiguous "we will maybe come". In the end, we might not have had a reservation, but whose fault that is after explicitly being told to just "be here after 20:30" doesn't seem as clear as the owner's response aims to make it look like. 2.: The owner doesn't challenge our account of us being there, being told by them that "the customers over there are paying now, so this will be your table" and after waiting for some time (10 to 15 min as of my recollection) new guests showing up and seeing them instantly being led to the table that we were told to be seated at. We waited a little more after that and after talking to them about this situation we were told "They called earlier than you did." In the end, no one can prove anything anymore (and probably couldn't have done so back then). The initial situation could have just been explained away by a simple misunderstanding on either end. Not noticing that something went wrong, trying to wait it out by ignoring us after telling us to wait, heartily greeting and seating other people arriving 10-15 minutes later than us at the exact table we were told to be seated at, arguing (3 people going at us two in broken English and German) that these people just "called earlier" and they can't magic free tables into existence, and then trying to shift the blame for the reason this review came into existence on us doesn't make it look very professional. This review might not really help anyone, but being gaslighted and portrayed as being too stupid to make a reservation hits differently. There might be one takeaway: Just make sure to make it unmistakably clear to them that you want to make a reservation or you might get disappointed. I’m certain they will have learned how to treat their guests with respect by now. Original text/review (until 2024-05-04) before owner's response: Have been there before, and the food was quite delicious. But the recent experience with them made it clear of their pretty ambiguous reservation system. They give you a time (“FROM xx:xx hours”) to show up for your dinner, you arrive there at xx:xx hour, and keeps you waiting for ~ half an hour in front of the bar, like statues. And watch other customers arriving and getting their seats for their dinner where you were told will be seated when the current customer leaves. When bringing the situation into attention to the manager, also be prepared to listen to their staffs defend “We said the table will be free FROM xx:xx, so you need to wait”. Got offered for two shots of drink though, as a compensation but the whole situation is definitely not pleasant. Had to leave the place after waiting and getting argued with the staffs, and will never visit here again.

We are now regular guests here with our small child. We feel super comfortable every time we visit and are warmly looked after. Our little one is allowed behind the bar and even gets lots of lovingly prepared treats on the house. Everyone takes very good care of him and is happy about him. You are very welcome here with a small child. Of course the food tastes very good. A very clear recommendation! 😊

Very tasty Greek restaurant. We sat outside on the terrace in pleasantly warm temperatures. The service was very good, quick, and the food was there in 20 minutes, even though the restaurant seemed pretty busy. Great. The taste was also perfect, the lamb fillet and the steaks on the grill were very tender, to the point. We would love to come back 👍

I love it! It is an absolute MUST visit this restaurant! 🤭 The staff is so friendly and accommodating. You rarely see that these days. You feel welcome and comfortable as soon as you enter the restaurant. When we said goodbye they even shook our hands. We were very happy about this because it has unfortunately become a rarity these days. Although for us it is a great form of politeness. The food is so delicious that even though you're full, you keep eating and can't stop. 😋 We were deeply sorry that we couldn't leave a tip via EC card for this great service.
