Fantastic food with great value for money, would gladly come again.

We were there on November 26, 2025, with a group of 10 (with a reservation). We received a very friendly welcome. There is a good selection of dishes. The food was plentiful and very tasty. Excellent value for money. We would gladly come again.

It's so good here that you can only get a table with a reservation, but it's worth it. The food is of excellent quality—no greasy gyros, no tough meat. Fresh ingredients and everything deliciously prepared. It's just a shame that the restaurant is on the other side of town for us. The service is outstanding and typically Greek—very friendly.

The food was delicious and definitely recommended – typically Greek, fresh, and well-seasoned. The service was friendly and attentive. The only minor criticism: the room temperature was a bit chilly, making it slightly uncomfortable. Nevertheless, it was worth a visit – I'd gladly come again!

We spontaneously decided to eat here and even got a table. For a starter, we chose grilled pepperoni, highly recommended! My gyros was also excellent – ​​a very generous portion! A surprise on a business trip. I called at very short notice to see if there was still space available, and half an hour after the friendly phone call, I was already sitting at my table, choosing my dinner. The restaurant was full, and this on a Wednesday evening. Nevertheless, the manager found time to chat with me at the table. He was super friendly, sharing anecdotes and asking questions with interest from the owner, and I immediately felt at ease and noticed. The rest of the team was also super friendly, and despite the stress, the good atmosphere was noticeable, and the guests were served in a routine manner. This positive impression was further enhanced by a very tasty dish. Great fries, perfect souvlaki with tomato rice, and a fantastic coleslaw. Mmmm, good. And at a reasonable price, too. If I get the chance again, I will definitely be a repeat customer. Sorry for the long text, but it's necessary.

​Really great Greek restaurant! The service was very good and friendly. The gyro with fried onions was super delicious, as was the souvlaki skewer with baked potato. The tomato sauce was unexpectedly spicy, but that didn't bother me. The baked chicken in Metaxa sauce was also good, although the fries were initially forgotten—but they were quickly brought back. The susuki (minced steak) was good, even with the fries, but it could have been a bit more substantial. Sauce costs extra, no matter what. Overall, a very successful evening.

A very friendly owner, who, together with the great staff, creates a family atmosphere. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. The menu is varied, but very meat-heavy. Personally, I don't mind; vegetarians also have a good selection; vegans should check the menu before visiting. The shop itself is cozy, but don't expect a trés chic atmosphere. All in all, I highly recommend the Athens under Vasili.

Today was our first time eating at Restaurant Athen. We received a very warm welcome. The gyro we ordered was incredibly delicious, as were the side dishes. The portions were very generous. The service there is excellent! We were served very quickly and very friendly, with a smile on everyone's faces. I can recommend eating there to everyone.

The staff was always very friendly and checked in with us to see if everything was okay. Even when we asked for a box, it was done very quickly. I have to say, for me, this was the best Greek food I've had in years.

There are some free parking spaces. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. There are many quiet corners, which I personally like. There are plenty of seats, and you get quick service. The food is really delicious and the portions are generous. The service is friendly. The chef seems to be popular among the regulars. I found the owner to be nice and charismatic. The only criticism I have is that the meat was very salty.

We ate here again yesterday and it was absolutely delicious😋The nice waitresses and the friendly boss Vasilis are on the ball and really nice. Placing the order and having the food served…incredibly quickly, even though the restaurant was very busy. At the same time, many also picked up their take-out orders... chapeau! to the kitchen!!!👍And after the meal there is always an ouzo on the house and a drink too! 🫶🏻Where else is this??? Not at my regular Italian restaurant and not at the Chinese or German restaurant!!!! Keep it up, dear ones - we'll be back👋☺️

Incredibly disappointing! We always enjoyed being there. Were there again for the first time today. Today was actually a special day for us. We had specially ordered a table for two people! I've been looking forward to it all day. The way guests are treated there is underground! When we came in we were parked in the narrow hallway, between the guests who were already eating. We were put off every 5 minutes, the guests now pay and then you can go to the table... Of course you're constantly looking to see if there's room available! People! If you are unable to make reservations, don't do it! Of course, it can happen that guests stay in their seats longer than expected. Or you have given away a table twice. But then be honest and talk to your guests! And don't lie to her! What's so bad about saying, we're sorry, but would it be okay if you went for a little walk and smoked... or or... instead of just leaving guests standing in a restaurant that was too warm with a winter jacket and lying to them... 12 people stood there for a total of up to 50 minutes without being able to sit down! My husband was so full after just 20 minutes that he wanted to leave your store immediately! And the poor staff who can't do anything are then sent to you and have to apologize, while the boss doesn't care and just sees the money. We won't be coming back because the food was subpar this time...

There was a dish with some kind of beans and feta cheese that is delicious in the same way as moussaka and gyros

Very good Greek. The full restaurant speaks for itself. The service was really nice, but unfortunately the table we ordered wasn't available until about 15 minutes later. The food was of very good quality. The liver was nice and thin and super tender!

I would like to give huge praise to the Athens restaurant. This Greek restaurant should be used as a model by many other local owners. Super hospitable, the service is hard to beat, the food was incredibly tasty (unfortunately just too much, as always, typically Greek) and the prices are more than reasonable for the entire package. And because it all sounded so good, there's one more thing on top: The manager of the restaurant has his heart in the right place and treats every customer as if they were a member of the family. We will happily eat here again in the future.

It's THE classic Greek as it should be...but the new interior is new. Objectively speaking, it meets the taste of the time, very bright and no classic amphoras or temple fragments. Subjectively, I'm into exactly this, let's say 80's style restaurant, but the background music has stayed the same and takes you a bit towards the Mediterranean.

We looked for a good Greek in the Göttingen area for a long time. Here we found what we were looking for. A real Greek with honestly good real Greek food. We were very satisfied all around. We will definitely be your guests again soon! We look forward to good food!

We chose the restaurant based on proximity and reviews and were rewarded with a really nice evening. Very friendly welcome, while we waited briefly for our table we were given a few small drinks “on the house”. In addition, a very appealing meal and a warm, family atmosphere, thoroughly recommended. We'd love to come back!

The ambience is fine. The food tastes good and the portions are decent. Unfortunately we had to wait an extremely long time for our drinks and food (we only got tickets after 10 minutes, were only able to order drinks and food after over half an hour and then had to wait a quarter of an hour for drinks and almost an hour and a half for food) Conclusion: actually a good restaurant but waiting a total of an hour for drinks and two hours for food is too long.

The restaurant, which was very inconspicuous from the outside, exceeded all expectations. The traditionally furnished restaurant immediately makes you want to go on holiday in Greece, but it is authentic but not too intrusive. The staff was very friendly and accommodating in a way that you rarely experience. But what was most convincing was the food, which in my opinion makes this inconspicuous place the best Greek restaurant in Göttingen at the moment. For me it was really an insider tip. I can only recommend it to everyone (who eats meat). It is recommended to reserve in advance.
