I was here with my mother for her birthday, and it was a very nice stay. Very attentive and friendly service. The food came quickly and was once again delicious. Many thanks also to the manager for her warm hospitality and the present for my mother. We'll be happy to come back.

The owner was very helpful, as always, but the rest of the service was off the mark: very hectic and mostly unfriendly! Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it!

Overall, we had a solid visit to Poseidon. The food was okay, but nothing particularly special. The service could be improved – a little more attentiveness and friendliness would have significantly improved the experience.

Poseidon is our absolute favorite Greek restaurant in Göttingen. The manager is friendly, incredibly well-dressed, always looks chic, and her warm personality is indescribable. My girls and I love coming here often. We celebrated my birthday there yesterday, and it was so lovely. A personalized serenade was also included, and the delicious food simply made the evening perfect. The junior manager is also wonderful and makes you feel special and welcome as a customer... I highly recommend this restaurant!

Even though the other reviews say otherwise, we're disappointed and annoyed after our last visit. We had to rush to Hamburg and wanted to pick up a quick snack of gyros pita bread. So we called to expedite the order. They told us they didn't have any pita bread; we were in the restaurant. Okay, so we agreed to two portions of gyros with tzatziki and fries. It probably wouldn't cost the earth, since it's a takeout, and we know the prices of competitors in every region of Germany. We picked up the food, which was actually already prepared. They charged €30, which I found a bit high for two portions to go. But no matter, I thought we had to move on. In the car, we opened the packaging and discovered that the tzatziki was missing. We called again and said we'd come back quickly. We were told that we would have to pay an additional €6 for the tzatziki on top of the €30. I actually got angry and upset. Instead of apologizing for forgetting it, they wanted us to pay €36 for the two takeaway portions. They could have simply said "sorry" for forgetting it and added two spoonfuls as an apology. But charging an additional €6 for an overpriced portion is pretty cheeky. We're angry! By the way, the gyro and its quality were actually good, but the overall impression from the staff on the phone was absolutely terrible! What a shame!

We once again felt very comfortable at Poseidon. The beautiful terrace, the friendly, cheerful, and helpful service, and the excellent food are reasons why we reserve at Poseidon. We will definitely come back and enjoy a few wonderful hours there.

July 12, 2025. Holy cow, 5:30 p.m. and the place was packed. The food was delicious, but I found the portions very modest (even at the other tables). I don't need to go there if I'm really hungry, or I should have eaten something beforehand. Otherwise, everything was good, friendly service and a packed place.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Poseidon Göttingen – Absolutely recommended! We visited the Poseidon restaurant and had a Poseidon grilled plate and a plaice fillet in the senior portion. Both were delicious – especially the gyro was absolutely amazing and tasted truly homemade; I've rarely had anything so good! The value for money was excellent, and the portion sizes were absolutely on par with those in regular restaurants – even the senior portion was almost too much for a normal eater. The entire staff was extremely friendly, courteous, and attentive; you immediately feel welcome. At the end, everyone received a free Uso. It was also convenient that we were able to park in the parking lot of the Eiswiese swimming pool and park there for free after our visit to the restaurant. A clear recommendation; we would definitely come back!

The food was truly excellent and of high quality. I was particularly pleasantly surprised by the gyro – in many restaurants, it's often too fatty or over-seasoned, but here it was perfectly seasoned and made with good meat. The other meats from the grills also tasted very good. You can clearly tell that great importance is placed on quality and taste here. What I particularly liked: The dishes come with both rice and fries – a nice and rare combination! The beer selection also leaves nothing to be desired. The ambiance is very pleasant, especially on a warm summer evening – but you'll feel at home here any time of year too. Combined with the swimming pool right next door, it's the perfect place to relax and unwind at the end of the day. Highly recommended!

A very good dinner. We were passing through and were happy to get a seat without a reservation (Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.), as there were already so many guests there. The food was very good, the service attentive, and the ambiance typical of a Greek restaurant. Yes, we can recommend it and we'd be happy to come back!

One star only because the conditions were very nice. Drinks are grossly overpriced and then watered down again. The quality of the food was ok but not good or special. Portion size good to very little depending on the dish. Finally, too much was calculated because the sums were added up in our heads. Unfortunately it turned out very bad. There won't be a next time any time soon.

So it might be something different in the restaurant, but the offer for the kiosk at the swimming pool doesn't work at all. Pita gyros still ok. Pizza slice for the kids totally burnt and tasteless. Salad put together as cheaply as possible. Friendliness rather no.

The gyro was very good, the salad disgusting, and there was no tasty dressing. The rice was unworthy of a Greek restaurant, covered in a careless spoonful of tomato sauce. The worst experience, however, was the beer. It was so poorly tapped that it simply didn't taste good. A real shame.

We have been coming to Poseidon regularly for years. Reservations make sense, especially in the evenings and on weekends, as it is always quite crowded. The service is friendly and quick. The senior boss keeps an eye on everything and is really warm. The food is always sufficient and always tastes very tasty, and we have tried a lot of things. Prices are absolutely justified and not too expensive. We think: one of the best Greeks in Göttingen! ❤️ We're always happy to come back!

My favorite Greek restaurant is now in Göttingen, unfortunately I live near Dresden. We were traveling in the motorhome and spontaneously got something to eat after the sauna. Extremely tasty and great value for money. (Prices on the internet may not be current). Even when we picked up the place, we received a very friendly and warm welcome despite being busy... We'll definitely be back.

We can only recommend the Greek restaurant. Food was very tasty, large portion and the price was right. The drinks and food were brought to the table very quickly despite being full. We were there for the first and certainly not the last time. The senior boss is the good soul and compensates for the daughter's somewhat rough manner.

The Greek Restaurant Poseidon is an excellent restaurant. Warm, cozy and almost everyone gets fed. We were there for lunch and chose the Gyros Omelette from the lunch menu because we weren't familiar with this variation. Delicious. We also had grape leaves. Tasted homemade. As usual in Greek restaurants, large portions and the meat is not spared. The ambience is nice and the service is attentive. You can go there.

We have often rounded off our sauna visit with dinner at Poseidon and have always been satisfied with the food, the service and the ambience. However, today I had a very unpleasant encounter with the owner's daughter. When paying, I apparently placed my wristband on the chip reader too quickly, which caused the system to lock up. The employee's reaction was completely unexpected for me: I was asked in a sharp tone why I had put the bracelet on so quickly when I should have waited for her request. With an annoyed look, she blamed me in no uncertain terms for the fact that the system had hung up “because of me.” I was very surprised by this almost aggressive tone towards a customer, which in my opinion was disproportionate to my little mishap. Although I immediately apologized, the encounter left a bitter taste in my mouth. Even the customers who lined up behind me were shocked by this reaction.

The Poseidon in the middle of the sauna, unfortunately I can only rate the salad poorly today. My girlfriend and I went to the sauna and ate a sauna salad for €14 each. We both had diarrhea afterwards. We talked about it with other women in the locker room. They said they had already had that too. I've eaten there several times and always had this slight diarrhea after the salad. I always thought it was me. But because my girlfriend had that today too, I have to say that something is wrong. It's a real shame, we have such a great sauna in Göttingen but the food there isn't great at all. It looks good, but...... It's a shame about the money, a total of €28 and then you get diarrhea afterwards. Something definitely needs to improve. The food is said to be better in the large Poseidon Restaurant.

We were there after swimming with two small children. The food was plentiful, but could have been a little warmer. The service was very warm and accommodating. Price performance is right, we will definitely be back.

We have been customers at this restaurant for decades. Last time we were surprised that the taste of the gyros had diminished significantly. Now we were eating there again, this time the meat was really extremely dry and it lacked the typical Greek taste, i.e. the spices that made us so happy to come here. Simply disappointing. As always, the service was very friendly and there was a lot on the plate - as always. Parking fees are covered by the owner, so you don't have to worry about the fees. Certainly not a given in Göttingen.

We have been to the restaurant many times, unfortunately it gets worse from time to time. The meat was dry and the tzatziki didn't taste good at all. My large drink was 0.4 and my partner had the same and got 0.5 Why? Very unfortunate. What's good is that you accept criticism and didn't charge us for the food. Thanks for that.

Very unfriendly staff. We didn't have a reservation and were told to wait 10 minutes (perfectly okay). Meanwhile, people who also didn't have a reservation went through and got a table. If asked, we should wait another 10 minutes. Then they left. The food looked good and you had enough time to watch the others eat.

We went there spontaneously, there were four of us. Everything in the restaurant was already full but we were offered a seat on the terrace. It was raining heavily, but we didn't get wet because we sat under the huge umbrellas. We didn't get cold either because several heaters were installed on each parasol. That was really great. Unfortunately, the service staff seemed overwhelmed because it was so busy. The people next to us arrived later but were served before us. The drinks we ordered also took longer. The food itself was very tasty. The portions were big enough for everyone to be full. When we wanted to pay we were told that the owner would do it herself. Unfortunately, she seemed totally overwhelmed because not only the four of us outside (also several other guests) but also the guests inside wanted to pay. We had to wait almost three quarters of an hour until my husband went to her to be able to pay. The promised ouzo never arrived. If you don't eat there at peak times and make a reservation in advance, it's a really great restaurant. The owner is a very nice and warm lady. Even though it was a bit chaotic this time, we'll be back.

Super class restaurant with a super friendly boss and very attentive and nice staff. The portions are mega and the taste is simply tip top. We studied the very large menu with its many offerings, then ordered the dishes and a few minutes later the food was on the table. No waiting time given how hungry we were. Unfortunately the portions were very small, I have never had such a small portion of fries for 3.30. But what was worst: THE GLASSES OF OUR DRINKS TASTED/SMELL OF BEER DISHWATER.

The food was delicious, but the service is haphazard and disorganized. I had to ask 3 times that I wanted to pack my food. And when you ask to pay you have to wait at least 30 minutes and it's very annoying. I would like to come by more often but I don't like it because of something like that.

We were passing through with our motorhome and just wanted to grab something to eat, so it was great that the restaurant was right next to the motorhome parking space. Without too many expectations we then went to Poseidon. We were immediately and very friendly offered free choice of seats. As soon as we sat down we received the menu and were able to order. Drinks and food came super quickly and the service was always very friendly. The food was excellent and there was a lot of it, we didn't manage to finish it all. Payment was made to an older lady who was incredibly friendly and sweet. The prices are absolutely reasonable and there was also an ouzo on the house. All in all really great and definitely recommended 🤩

We were here for a birthday dinner. First of all, the fries are awesome. The starter plate was very tasty and could be shared between two people without any problems. The bread that was served with it was unfortunately old and dry... It's a shame... The main courses are sized so that you can easily share them with two adults and still be full. The birthday child received a bottle of wine on the house as a gift. All in all a nice evening with good food but far too much food.

We love Greek cuisine. The Poseidon restaurant is only 150m next to the motorhome parking space where we stay overnight. Therefore there. The restaurant is tasteful and the menu is extensive. The best thing about this restaurant, however, is the consistently attentive and friendly service. This is where Poseidon scores! We ordered the gyros with liver and the gyros in metaxa sauce with cheese gratin and extra tzatziki. There was also a free salad each. Well, the food came incredibly quickly. First of all: I am a good eater. There is no such thing as not finishing a plate. Here, however, it was already clear when serving that this portion would never be possible. The tzatziki delivered weighed around 500g. The salad is almost a main course. The plate of gyros and liver would have fed three people. I was now watching the other tables. Will these plates be eaten? I always observed several who were being packed up. Too bad. I also stopped eating at some point. It was almost impossible to tell that something was missing from my portion. Now to the question, did it taste good? It was okay, but not a highlight. I'll almost bet there's no Greek at the stove here. If I make a mistake, send him back home for a few weeks! Would I come back? Not because of the food. But the service is terrific. Also consider the portion size. Even the best food becomes disgusting when you're full.

Was eating here for the fourth time now. Unfortunately, what you eat depends very much on your daily routine. This time the souvlaki was unfortunately fried to death. I could only eat it as long as I still had some of the red sauce on the carelessly prepared plate. The look of the plates corresponds to canteen food. When it comes to taste, you have to be lucky to see what the chef is doing. On my own initiative I wouldn't go to the Greek. I'm always invited.
